Rustic hotel blends into the surrounding neighborhood. Room was small but nice and comfortable, bed slept well.Shower opening was a bit awkward, but shower had good pressure. Staff was friendly and helpful. Room itself was quiet but the intersection out front was busy at times. Coffee maker would be nice! Would definitely stay there again.

Not an enjoyable stay

Stayed for two nights and on the second night found an infestation of bedbugs in the mattress. In hindsight I have no idea how I didn't spot them on the first night but I was very tired. As the reception desk closes at 10pm there was no-one to contact about switching room at that point so I ended up sleeping on the floor to avoid getting bitten.

I alerted the staff to this upon checkout who were apologetic enough, but inspecting the mattress it looked like the bugs had been there for a while. Surely this should've been noticed before letting someone into the room?

For the money paid for the room I would at least expect to be able to sleep in the bed and not end up having to google steam cleaning equipment to make sure none of the bugs made it back with me.

Pretty good hotel near old town

This was a good hotel just walking distance from the old town of Luxembourg City and not far from the station. The room was large, comfortable and clean. There was no AC in the room but as it was a big room with a high ceiling it didn't get too hot at night. The free wifi also worked well. My only complaint about the room is that there was only a net curtain in the bathroom, so not the best for privacy. The staff at the hotel were very friendly. Breakfast was not included with our stay but was available for an additional cost. I thought it was a bit expensive, although there was a good selection of food and drinks.

Not one for light sleepers!

We stayed in the annex on the ground floor and we could hear every little movement the family in the room above made! Did not help that they were moving around at 3 in the morning, rolling what I assume were suitcases across the floor, child crying, squeaky floor boards etc. This went on for a good hour for two nights in a row. The following night, the family above were no longer there but instead at 3am we had a wake up call from large bins being rolled across the car park! The hotel reception is also closed a lot! Nobody was on reception when we arrived, which we knew would be the case and had been told our key would be in the lock box, and it was not. The barman struggled to find the key too. Then on the day we left, we asked to store our luggage for the day and said when we would be returning to collect it at 3pm but when we returned the hotel was closed again! I would also say that the reception staff were not overly friendly for people working in the hospitality industry. I would not stay there again.

Excellent hôtel , they treat their returning clients very well and I am a regular visitor on business to Luxembourg. One area for improvement to move from excellent to stellar is that a check be done of the rooms before each new guest. E.g. light bulbs not working, put another bottle of water for guests staying more than one night, replace the soaps . These little things make a difference.

Good choice to stay near the train station. The bar is nice and not expensive. The staff is friendly and helpful. I only had 2 things that bothered me, one the electric plugs were not in convenient locations but they were there and the room smelled a bit of chlorine from cleaning.

Luxembourg - we will be back!

It was a nice place for a couple nights. Loved the city. Location was great and very walkable. I would request a 2nd floor since the first floor was looking out into the parking lot. There isn't a/c so we had to open the windows but didn't want to leave them open all night since it was the parking lot. Although I'm not sure there was an elevator.
The room was spacious. Right around the corner was the park with amazing walking trails. That was my favorite part!

The hotel - a group of old buildings converted to rooms - is of very mediocre standard. The chair at the desk was in bad shape and unfit for use (I was on a business trip and needed to work) and the curtain came off its rack the first morning. Despite my request, the chair was not replaced, and the maid just left the lonely curtain on my bed. Following my complaint the next morning, I was moved to a different room in my absence. The new room had a nice chair but no desk. My complaint was met with a cheeky answer. Only after another full day, they called the owner who personally brought me a small desk and promised to compensate me at check-out. After 6 expensive nights at the hotel they gave me an 8 euro bottle of sparkling wine, adding insult to injury. If you want a nice vacation, stay clear of this one.

3 Stars for definitely a 3 star hotel

I booked the basic room and it was basic. Clean, enough space but basic. My issue was that I was on the top floor and the wifi did not reach the room. It worked 1 floor down. I did explain this at reception and the guy said that there was nothing that he could do. I am guessing that this must be an ongoing problem for that room.
I would not have booked the room if I knew that I would not have had wifi. The customer service in handling this was not great.
If it was not for the wifi issue, I would give it 4 stars, as it did offer value for money.
The main part of the hotel is quite modern. The basic rooms are in another building and not so nice. Bathroom small but functional.
Good location and good restaurants around. Luxembourg is small.

The hotel is on a busy intersection just out of town. It has no air conditioning and the room was like a furnace. Opening the Windows marginally cooled the room but subjected us to the incessant traffic noise throughout the night. It was awful!

First off the restaurant was really good. Great quality and service. However the Hotel was awful. The room I had was cold, furnished by buying some Pine stuff from a second hand store, tiled floors with no carpet and not even in the main Hotel. \"Over the crossroads and on the left\" Couldn't find the entrance, went back and was given a look of disdain at them having to show me. So service gets a zero as well. My advice is to stay somewhere else and visit for dinner

A bit disappointing

Not the most helpful staff I have come across. We picked the hotel because of the location and it had a car park. Shame Hotel.com did not state you need to book the car park. Street parking was hard to find, it took 15 minutes to find a space, parking metre with a maximum stay of 5 hours. I knew the rooms needed up dating, but the pine beds were so creaky. I was not impressed in February to find the room had the heating turned off, leaving to room cold. The tiled floors made the corridor echo every time a door banged shut.

We are family of 4. We stay in a room with a double bed and sofa bed. The room is small, but the price is resaonable among the hotel in Luxembroug.
The room is located in a building next to the hotels and has no lock. Originally we thought there is noone live in the building. But there was someone else check in in the midnight. It could be dangerous if there is no lock.
The hotel located about 15 minutes walk in the train station, but it is easy to find by google map.
There is no free wifi, and no facilities un the hotel.

There appears to be a lot of criticism on the reception and service. The receptionist could not have been more charming or helpful, so perhaps there has been a change. The hotel is rated as 3*, which is about right, but then again price wise it is in this category. We found it to be comfortable and well located, albeit very French in design (very black and grey). The restaurant gives the appearance of being upmarket with a good menu, but the meal was basic and lacked any imagination. It would be so easy to make it much better. The €15 charge for the car park is a bit steep, but there is on street parking and a public car park around the corner. Oh and double check with the hotel when booking as Tripadviser says breakfast is included in the price, but we were told it was not and this would add another €10 per person.

Hotel is quite central, few metres away from the central station and only a quarter of an hour walk from the old centre of luxemburg. Room was clean and cosy, though at least a bedside carpet could help. Bathroom was not so big either and hot water takes some time to come. My greatest disappointment was the fact that I was given a room on the 2nd floor in an adjacent building to the main hotel. That meant that to take bfast I had to go out of my hotel. But to top it all, these premises had no lift and I had to take up my bags all 2 floors. On the last day however I found a very helpful guy at reception who very kindly offered to bring down my bags to the reception. On the whole a very pleasant stay with very good wifi access as well.

The hotel is close to the central plaza which is a bonus. The employees were all friendly. They had a map of the area but it would have been nice to have some recommendations of where to go. It is decorated in black and gray so our room was very dark, as was the lobby. It made it difficult to read anything. The neighborhood is nice and we felt safe but they have a restaurant in the hotel which is open till 2:00 in the morning. My children had a room on the street side and since it was very warm our windows were open. They got all the smoke and conversation drifting into their room till the wee hours of the morning. The beds are very comfortable. We will probably look elsewhere next time only because of the issue with restaurant customers.

While the hotel was comfortable there were a few things that I found were quite poor for the price charged. No complimentary tea/coffee in the room. On Sunday night the hotel was closed down and there was no where I could get a cup of tea. This was at ten pm. Also Saturday was a holiday and again after breakfast the whole hotel closed down with no provision for guests to get anything to eat or drink. My tv channels stopped working. I reported it three days in a row to reception and after the third time somebody fixed it. The breakfast was just about adequate. I have stayed in hotels for 50Euro per night that gave better service. Not worth the price charged

Pay attention which room are you booking!

If you check online etc you will see they have a refurbished (nice and new) room and an old room (in another building with wooden beds). I emailed them to make sure that if I booked I could have the new room and they confirmed I could. I got there and the hotel was full and they gave me the old room, a studio, really poor and simple. They said they would give us the breakfast as a coutersy then. The next day they changed us to the refurbished building and the new room. We stayed for two days and had breakfast there both days. When the bill came, they charged us for the second day breakfast and told us that the courtesy was just for the first day. Common, that was not near a compensation (the rooms cannot be compared!), and I would expect them to be more worried about their mistake and at least give us the breakfast for both days...

The Hôtel Le Châtelet was moderately priced, very clean and in a central location......easy walk to the train station, easy walk to the center of the old part of the city.....the front desk staff was very pleasant and helpful. We did not eat in the restaurant in the hotel because we wanted to wander around the city and eat in smaller establishments.
Overall a very good experience for my first trip to Luxembourg

We had the loft room (#10) and were there in the winter, so this review may not reflect a typical experience. The main selling-point of this hotel is its proximity to the old town - a ~1km walk takes you to the Ducal Palace, Cathedral, Bock Casements, etc. There is limited parking, but probably enough for the number of rooms. The restaurant and lounge (bar) were busy and looked very nice, but a little pricey for a family meal. Unfortunately, we found the room to be not particularly comfortable (chilly, and 4 single beds). Worst of all, there is an extremely tight spiral staircase to the loft, VERY difficult for someone tall (I kept getting stuck with my knapsack) or with a large suitcase to navigate. We've travelled across France and western Europe from Normandy to Corsica and back to Belgium, and the cost of this place was more than double any other place we've stayed, and was certainly in the lower 25% for comfort. Luxembourg is an expensive place, though, so if you want to be close to the action, you'll pay these kinds of prices.

Good location but Spartan furnishing

Although the staff here were very nice and efficient, I found something slightly unnerving about this hotel. The emblem in the restaurant (and on the menus) was a skull and there were sinister dark curtains to get in and out of the public rooms. Our room was spacious but very sparsely furnished - it had an unloved feeling to it, as if the real business of the hotel was something else - I can't imagine what! I also booked the hotel because it had a car park but when we arrived in the mid-afternoon the small car park was already full, so we parked on the street anyway...
