Personal service was exceptionally well delivered. The facilities not only were well conceived and maintained but significantly contributed to the serenity of place. Small touches everywhere. For the most part, the staff was not friendly nor welcoming. I booked two rooms at the end of April for a July 19th chicken, chicken, and neither were close to each other. The goal of this trip is to be close to our adult daughters and we were in two separate buildings. We were accommodated on the second night of our trip with two upgraded rooms closer to each other however, the door to our suite broke and we were not able to use that room for that second night. We do commend the one staff member who went out of his way to try and resolve the door issue that night, however it wasn’t possible. The next day, when we went to move our daughters into their new room the staff members on shift at that time questioned whether or not we should actually be able to move into the rooms, questioning our honesty about what had occurred the day before with their colleague overall, we had an OK stay, the pool is lovely and was welcomed on hot days however the menu options at the pool are ridiculous. Nine euros for a can of Coke is not realistic.

This was not a 5 star hotel and description of rooms and hotel is very misleading. We’ve stayed at Relais Chateau hotels in the past and they were very nice. This hotel desperately needs remodeling. We requested an updated room but none were available so it’s clear that they’ve renovated some and not others but don’t disclose that information. For over $500 per night this was a disappointing part of our trip.

We had a nice stay. The property is very pretty. Room felt dated; linens/napkins were frayed; and when we walked from main lobby to our room at night, the stairs and landing had no lighting. Could have been dangerous. I think attention to updating/upgrading the hotel should be done.

This place was amazing, quite literally zero complaints! The town is very nice, with Avignon only a 10 min drive. The hotel is stunning, and the property is massive. It’s got a secure parking lot (free) out back, a big beautiful pool and a beautiful dining and breakfast area. The breakfast itself was fantastic! The staff was very nice and welcoming. The room was amazing; big, spacious, and a very comfortable bed. I would go back to this hotel without hesitation. I wish we had stayed more than 3 nights! It is a 10/10 find. Highly recommend to anyone traveling in the area.

I recently stayed at the Prieure Hotel and had a wonderful experience. The room was absolutely beautiful, with tasteful decor and a comfortable bed that made my stay very enjoyable. The service was top-notch; the staff were attentive, friendly, and always ready to assist with any requests.

The food at the hotel's restaurant was excellent. Every meal was a delight, with a wide variety of dishes that were both delicious and beautifully presented. The gardens surrounding the hotel are stunning, providing a peaceful and picturesque setting that made my stay even more relaxing.

The only thing missing was a gym. It would have been great to have a facility for workouts during my stay. Despite this, I thoroughly enjoyed my time at the Prieure Hotel and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a luxurious and serene getaway.

Gorgeous place to spend while in that area - right outside of Avignon, but not really walkable so will have to take a cab, not easy to get especially when coming back from Avignon - but the property is gorgeous and very walkable within the town of Villenueve les Avignon and all the delicious restaurants around, the recommendations from staff for dinner were right on point and delicious - the grounds of the hotel are peaceful and so beautiful to walk around in, the pool and the temperature of the water are so refreshing especially after a very hot day of sight seeing - we went to dinner at the restaurant the evening we arrived, there was a cancellation so we go lucky ( make a reservation if you want to eat there) didn't know it was a Michelin star restaurant but when the food started arriving, you will know that it is a top notch restaurant, everything was delicious but the entree, something was off, but enjoyed all the other plates - all was great except the WiFi -was very slow and temperamental and in addition, thought the breakfast was included with the stay but it was not, would have walked into town to get breakfast if I knew that - breakfast did not change for all the 4 days we stayed there, would have been nice for a bit of variety but that being said, we loved our stay there and the staff are super friendly and helpful - we would definitely stay here again!

First night in very dark, outdated, uncomfortable room. 2nd night after we spoke to reception, got moved to a beautiful, huge apartment-like suite which was wonderful except never cold enough. A/c is only minor and a hotel of this caliber should really accommodate comfort of guests much more.

This was my second stay having spent a week there in the early nineties. While the original family no longer runs this place nothing of the wonderful atmosphere has been lost.

Loved the serenity of the place...Calm, composed staff and guests made for a relaxing time. The restaurant is exemplary - not inexpensive but as expected for a relais & chateau property.

If I had to think of a “could be better” item, it would be room niceties. No flowers, no replenished water bottles, no treats (choc.strawberries OR truffles or similar. As I say, a nice sweet in the evening is a nice end to the day.

This is a beautiful old hotel and deserve a better rating but cleaning service was not great for this caliber of Hotel. It is a converted catholic religious establishment and still conected to the old church. The hotel staff is very pleasant and helpful. I loved the garden and terrace and the pool area. It really represents the area of Villeneuve-les-Avignon.

Overall nice and clean hotel, friendly staff, nice town (quite, peaceful but with still good options for dining and bars; Avignon downtown is chaotic; good to visit less than ideal to stay), the hotel’s surrounding area is a much better option than staying in downtown Avingnon. it is a bit over rated (old rooms that requires some upgrades; toilet does not flush well, rooms are not isolated for noise (you hear next room uncomfortably) and expensive restaurant; 6 euro for one expresso); beautiful garden and nice patio.

Treat yourself: this is worth a detour.

We spent five days at Le Prieure and enjoyed it enormously. The staff were wonderful, our room very comfortable, food outstanding, the swimming pool magnificent, and we and our dog were made to feel welcome. Our room did open onto the courtyard but the noise did not disturb us -- the food experience is memorable and people were there to enjoy it, so there were no rowdy parties going on at midnight. The trains were a little surprising -- the rail line is close -- but not disturbing either. The shower in our bathroom was challenging and it was hard not to flood the floor, while a plumber could have made the basins empty better and the toilet flush more effectively. The air conditioning was a little primitive -- a single box on the wall without full directional control. Other than those quibbles, the hotel and its environs are entirely delightful and we make a special mention of the excellent breakfast which was delivered with great speed to our room. Not to miss: the delicious brown bread, which is a rarity in French hotels.

On first impression it is what you would expect from a Relais and Chateaux affiliated hotel, nice setting, good ambience and welcome from the hotel staff. Everything about the experience however just falls short of the expectation associated with a top hotel - the room is just OK, the food in the restaurant was excellent but the service made you feel unimportant and the food / drinks are just over-priced. We stayed in hotels on the remainder of our holiday that had Michelin 2-star restaurants that were more reasonably priced. In summary, if the hotel was advertised as a 4-star and the experience priced more reasonably, then would get a much higher rating.

Lovely hotel in a beautiful setting, we had a deluxe room which was looking a bit tired, the bathroom definitely in need of refurbishment, the shower was pretty poor and the toilet wouldn't flush and kept getting blocked. The pool area is lovely but there was a lack of towels and the service is pretty poor. The restaurant is a 1 star Michelin and the prices certainly reflect this, although the service & food is very good at €24 for a glass of champagne we only ate there one night only. The location is excellent superb French village with a lovely town square and very good restaurants located within the town. We would highly recommend and happy to return

A stunning hotel just outside of Avignon (30 minutes walk to Palais des Papes, or a quick bus ride), with a lovely onsite restaurant (1 Michelin starred) and with easy access (5 mins walk) to a number of other more casual restaurants in the town. Great pool; clean, comfortable large rooms (we had a room overlooking pool, which was lovely); friendly staff. The only downside is that on-site breakfast is a bit expensive (EUR27 pp for what seems to be a continental breakfast buffet with scrambled eggs, although did not eat breakfast so cannot confirm) - that was easily solved by going to a nearby cafe or to the wonderful bakery/boulangerie 5 mins walk away.

Three days in the calm and warmth of Provence

I stayed at the Hotel for three nights. The setting of the Hotel is picturesque and a lovely introduction to the style and warmth of Provence. The staff are all very friendly and helpful and the food and wine offered are very good.

My room was furnished and decorated in a \"Provence\" style and very comfortable.

Although it is not part of the town of Avignon, the town is easy to reach by taxi, bus, car etc.
This does mean it is outside the tourist bustle. It is quite a good centre for touring Provence.

It is very calm place with the beautiful scent of jasmine in the courtyard.

It seems that children and dogs are also welcomed, which adds to the family atmosphere.

I really enjoyed my three days.

We have stayed in Avignon before but this was so much better. The hotel was lovely and the staff were excellent and as the hotel restaurant was closed for the evening celine at reception booked a restaurant nearby as we were on the motorway and she spent some time finding out what we wanted. The room was beautiful with a large fireplace and doors onto our own terrace with table chairs and loungers. The gardens were beautiful too. We most certainly will go back.

Quiet, spacious and comfortable. The breakfast buffet was poor in terms of fresh fruit. We had to wait for croissants to be replenished. Some guests were not offered towels at the pool. I used my husband's after swimming. We wouldn't go back and wouldn't recommend it. The setting for dinner was charming under the pergola but the dinner was disappointing. I ordered stuffed zucchini flowers - tasteless like health farm food.
The pigeon was good but sugar had been added to the caramelised onions and they were much too sweet. They need signs. The sat nav route too indirect.

A beautiful hotel in a beautiful village.

Don't make the same mistake I did - this hotel is not in Avignon. It's across the river in the beautiful village of Villeneuve les Avignons. This is actually a plus if you are there during high season. Villeneuve is quiet, charming, and a welcome respite from the crowds and noise of Avignon during the Festival. Le Prieure is equally charming, peaceful, and the staff were very welcoming and helpful. I would recommend it highly.

\"Away from the maddening crowd\"

We have stayed here many times and always look forward to our time at Le Prieure. After a day of sightseeing, walking and shopping, driving into the shaded parking area is a joy . The rooms are neat, clean, well appointed and the bathrooms are bright and large ( I love the new magnifying mirrors)
Last but not least is the fact that the staff is very professional and extremely helpful...

A quick dip in the pool and a sip of wine is all you need to enjoy the rest of your evening

Hotel was beautiful and room exceptional. I had informed the hotel that I was vegetarian and was told by email that my request would be \" sorted out\". It was not and no main course option was available and I was offered a mixed salad or steamed vegetables. I said that I had informed the hotel but the maitre d'hotel was clearly angry and irritated by my request. He checked with the kitchen and I had a delicious risotto. If the maitre d had approached the issue with a positive attitude instead of being rude and unhelpful, then I would have given this hotel a 5 out of 5 but I was made to feel unwelcome and uncomfortable so will not return despite the excellent service from other staff members.

Beautiful Retreat in Provence

I was surprised at how fabulous this hotel was, since some of the Trip Advisor reviews seemed tepid. It is beautiful, run at a five star level, and is representative of Provence. The hotel has a very expensive place for dinner, but I found the menu to not be to my liking, so I didn't try it. But there are tons of sweet little good restaurants in the town within easy walking distance. The hotel does serve lovely breakfasts on the patio which I will remember for their relaxed breezy atmosphere. We stayed in the old part of the hotel in a \"tower\" room that had windows facing two directions and it was exquisite. It also was very hot and the air conditioner was splendid. The bed and linens were excellent. I will definitely return.

Quite week

We booked this hotel as a couple for approximately a week. The aim was for a relaxing few days away from everything!
We came off this motorway and followed the Satnav across town and were very happy to find the hotel following a very sharp right turn.
There is excellent parking and one walks passed the pool, secluded gardens and rarely used tennis courts to find the reception.
The staff at the reception were extremely polite as was the gentleman sent to carry our bags from the car.
We had a second floor room with a balcony overlooking the pool. We were very happy with the size, layout and decide of the room. There were as us often the case in Europe no coffee or tea making facilities.
The towels etc were good and additional ones are provided and replaced at the pool.
The breakfast was €27 and many of the meals over €100.
We chose to have breakfast in the local cafés for under €5 a day and meals in the town cost anything from
€25 upwards. The choice is yours.

A great hotel outside Avignon.

The room was wonderful and the service outstanding. The lady behind the desk was so helpful. We're there for two nights and wish it could have been longer. The town was great to walk around with no crowds.
The restaurant was very good, but the dinner was a little pricey.
Would highly recommend this hotel.

Excellent hotel in a good location

We were not disappointed with our visit to Le Prieure. The hotel was clean, the rooms large and luxurious (we stayed in The Atrium) overlooking the pool and had a nice balcony to sit out. The staff at the hotel were courteous and very helpful and knowledgeable about local events and provided useful local map. The immediate area is well served with restaurants, small supermarket, boulangerie and delicatessen, local market on Thursdays.
Lots to see in the immediate area. We did not have the breakfast in the hotel as at €27 we thought that was far too expensive. Also the hotel restaurant was, we considered expensive.
We would have preferred breakfast to be included in the price of the hotel.
We took a local guided tour for the day with Valentina of Mistral Tours. We detoured en route to St Remy market with its array of the freshest fruit and vegetables! Perfect hotel in a perfect location.

Excellent !

Wonderful location, beautiful hotel with attentive helpful staff with excellent English . A beautiful hotel in a beautiful area. We dined at the restaurant one evening which was an amazing experience & also tried out two of the fabulous restaurants in the village which were a short 5 minute stroll away. Having a pool was also a highlight as weather particulary warm when we were there last week. Will definitely stay again if we return to Avignon.

Beautiful hotel, large rooms, quiet location, excellent staff. Lots of seating throughout the courtyard and around the pool for lounging-my husband and I sat by the pool enjoying the weather and a bottle of wine every night. Lots of dining in a short walk, good parking, and easy to get everywhere in Provence. Our AC stopped working the last night, staff very apologetic and brought fans.

Elegant, calm hotel in a glorious garden.

The staff were lovely, friendly and helpful yet the mood was relaxed. You felt nothing was too much trouble. The garden is gorgeous and fosters the holiday spirit immediately on arrival. Everything looks good and the rooms are well appointed.
The hotel is in a charming well kept village with cafes and inviting restaurants just a step away. Avignon is an easy bus ride.
We didn't eat in the Michelin starred restaurant as it was pretty expensive.

Great room salty food

Hotel itself exccellent with a wonderful setting. Great general service except for restaurant. Fairly curt and not very helpful. Also, the main courses were too salty. I am sorry I didn't sent them back. It seemed as if the sauces were great but the actual fish and sucking pig were too salty and overrode anything the chef could add. Also when we mentioned the salty food to the bussing staff no one from the restaurant itself or the kitchen followed up.
