Clean room, great staff , good food, lovely out of town location. We were end of season so not too busy. Small but adequate. This rustic hotel has bags of charm and provides a friendly welcome. Paula the manager is an incredible person 5 ⭐️

Beautiful property! Peaceful feeling. Breakfast and Dinner included. Food was amazing. Service was great. The staff was amazing and fun! Only down side was many of the amenities in the kitchen area did not work. For example the tea kettle didn't work and the fridge shut off when the key was removed for the electric.

An extremely beautiful hotel, built of stone, in the Greek style. Resting here, it is as if you fall into an interesting story. All the staff, especially Helen and Yanis, are very friendly. The food is extremely tasty and varied. Many thanks to the cook. There was always hot water, the rooms were constantly cleaned .We are very satisfied with our vacation at Village Stone. We want to come back again.

Needs a little TLC

Property grounds very lush & beautiful.
Rooms & bathroom v spacious.
Reception area & dining area could do with a clean and spruce up. Food smell in reception area as kitchen is above.
We had half board but only dined once. Lots of items were depleted when we went for both dinner & breakfast. Bit crammed & cushions on chairs need renewing. Very tatty dining area outside.
Very friendly staff though.

Great feel and lovely service

Wonderful reception by 2 lovely hosts, authentic old feel to room and hotel/grounds with gorgeous bougainvilleas everywhere, 3 pools, close to Bali for beaches and food. Complimentary bottle of wine from their own winery in the room (yummy).

There are animals in a closed off section of the grounds (small zoo for guests) but the animals and their area seem a bit neglected, the pools could be cleaner, and the bed is hard but they will change the mattress for you if you ask.

We booked this hotel because we do not like massive resort hotels but we still appreciate the catering and facilities of a hotel.
Stone Village is perfect for a quiet getaway, especially if you have young children with you.
The food and cleanliness if the apartments was outstanding. The family run business gives one a sense of homeliness and welcome.
The location is peaceful but also within walking distance of the beach. We had some trouble finding the place with GPS but it is well signposted if, unlike us, you remember to use this more traditional form of orientation!

Huge room with a great shower balcony with lovely view of the mountains very quiet and relaxing not 1 but 3 swimming pools! 10 minutes walk of Bali a beautiful resort with 3 separate beaches and great selection of restaurants friendly locals and not many Brits although we bumped into Dan Skinner who plays Angelos from Shooting Stars!

Aptly Named Stone Village

Stone Village is a very relaxing and peaceful place to absorb some of the best qualities of Crete. My wife and I stayed for 2 nights but wish we could have stayed longer. It is a very family friendly place. It is very aptly named stone village as all of the buildings and paths are stone and the buildings have a very cool and cozy layout that surround the two pools.

Our room was a two floor apartment that included a sofa, table and kitchenette on the lower level and on the second floor a master bedroom with a balcony, a bathroom and a kids room with bunk beds. It would be plenty of space to be comfortable with 4 people.

Breakfast was included in our stay and it was delicious. There were tons of options for food for everyone. It presents a great opportunity to try many things you might not typically order an entire plate of try. There was also local oranges for the making freshest orange juice possible. While at breakfast they'll offer a dinner menu for you to look at if you want to order any of their specialties and make a reservation time. We ate dinner there both nights and weren't disappointed: delicious Greek food, perfect service, and with an awesome view of the surrounding area and mountains.

Throughout our stay the entire staff was always very helpful and friendly. We'd love to come back to take in more of Crete and would definitely recommend Stone Village.

Beautiful.Has promise, But.. needs some attention!

Pros. 1) Beautiful setting and layout were like paradise, with ample parking, several pools, hot tubs, play grounds, outdoor bars and tables, fruit trees and a zoo complete with camels, ostrich, goats etc.
2) The room was large and equipped with a kitchenette two bedrooms, one bathroom ( with a shower only ) a dinning table and futon and a telephone table.
3 ) Very comprehensive breakfast, and dinner , if ordered at breakfast ( so they can order ingredients) very good and plentiful.
4) Staff helpful and friendly.
Cons 1) No information about how to use any of the things in the apartment, including the heat, or about things nearby such as resturants etc.
2) No telephone in the room ( jacks were on the wall ) to contact the front deck, no in the room.
3) The bathroom door would not close when we arrived , and we requested a new room but non was offered. The owner came to our room about the this but made is seem we were being picky..they did fix it but the shower leaked from underneath flooding the floor after that.
4) The electric needed a the key fob to work, and when we separated the key from the fob they remove it from the slot ever time we left the room. wihich meant any food in the frig. or heayt/ac was off.
5 ) The WiFi and heat was hardly ever working ( it was 50F or below at night ) and the staff seems upset by our request to have them turned on. The first night it was ~50F in our room. Even the dinning room was cold..The staff wore heavy coats.

The hotel lived up to our expectations and more. Quiet, relaxing and lovely surroundings. Not to far to walk to the nearby village of Bali with a very goods choice of restaurants. The staff all very pleasant, friendly and helpful. We will definitely go again.

Stone village is an unusual blend of elements, with spacious and comfortable rooms and quirky charm. The split-level apartments are quite well-suited to longer stays. We imagine kids would love this place. Service was friendly and casual, family-style.

Nice but somewhat dirty

Stone Village is a hotel in Vlixada, two minutes by car fom Bali (a car can be booked directly at the airport and is highly recommended in Crete anyway and even more if you're in Bali). The hotel itself is very beautiful and the surroundings truly astonishing. You can tell that the owners are building their dream hotel. It even has a small petting zoo on the property with goats, a donkey and even a camel! The hotel has really nice common areas, including typical ovens and an olive oil press to admire. The pool is smaller than it looks on the pictures though. Unfortunately, we found the room (we booked one of the apartments) very dirty. The floor was sandy, the bathtub hadn't been properly cleaned and we even found garbage from earlier guests.The staff was friendly, but often seemed overextended, even though the hotel was almost empty. The check-in took almost 20 minutes although we were the only ones at the reception. Overall, it is a really nice hotel, especially for a family stay, but be ready to accept less luxury and some bugs for the beatiful hotel property and surroundings.

Fun in Crete!

This place is awesome. we were worried because it was so inexpensive, but it was a lot nicer and more fun than the hotels we paid MUCH more for! A fabulous place to unwind. The owners are awesome and the manager is great. We totally enjoyed our stay and can't say enough about how great it was! Within 30 minutes, we felt like we were part of the \"family\".

Un mini pueblo con encanto

Hotel en las afueras del pueblo de Bali. La oferta de habitación, con desayuno y cena incluida en el precio, a priori resultaba muy atractiva. Lástima que no se cuida un poco más el bufet y cada mañana y cada noche, los platos eran los mismos. A veces se reponían frutas y no se quitaba la pieza que llevaba un par de días cortada. Las platas de calientes, no tenían cartel y cada vez, tenías que ir mirando 1 a 1 para saber de que se trataba. Por ello, viendo la frescura general de la cocina griega y el bajo precio, la mayor parte de las veces, cenamos fuera. La habitación no era pequeña pero sí que estaba mal distribuida y no resultaba muy cómoda. El baño perdía por el desagüe y se intentó solucionar el primer día. A pesar de todos los apuntes, lo más destacable es la fantástica calidad humana del staff y el entorno bonito del complejo.

Nel complesso bella la struttura del villaggio tutta in pietra e legno.
Buona la pulizia delle stanza con il cambio di biancheria e asciugamani che veniva fatto giornalmente.
Non altrettanto buona la pulizia delle piscine. A mio avviso la struttura ha visto tempi migliori, il bar a lato della piscina principale era chiuso come anche un'altra zona del villaggio che, perso il suo uso originario è ora adibita a deposito immondizie.
Carino per i bambini il piccolo zoo, con cavalli, pecore, coniglietti, pavoni, anatre, oche e la possibilità di cavalcare i pony, benchè anche questa zona fosse palesemente sporca e trascurata.
Discreta la qualità del ristorante (a buffet), anche se la varietà, dopo un paio di giorni, si perdeva completamente.

Отличная хоть и изношенная инфраструктура, хорошее питание. Ужасный wifi не рассчитанный на всех. Эконом номера очень эконом (хотя для Греции стоимость номера свыше 100евро в день вовсе не дешево): одного кондиционера на два этажа не хватает, по началу был неприятный запах то ли сырости то ли ещё чего, даже признаки аллергии были, к 3 дню вроде прошло, может мы были после зимы там первые... Пластиковая имитация камина в каменном доме, 3-х копеечная падающая перекладина в ванне, закрывающийся с помощью бумажки духовой шкаф , падающие зонтики в через чур хлорированный бассейн... Всё это очень контрастирует с великолепным зоопарком, хорошей детской площадкой с батутом, бесплатным катанием на пони и шикарным внешним видом везде! Вобщем с детьми заехать не на долго стоит, а вот парам я бы рекомендовал выбрать более уютный аутентичный отель, коих в Греции предостаточно.

L'accueil et la formule demi pension sont parfaits pour un séjour en famille. Le seul petit bémol est la localisation idéale pour des vacances à la plage mais un peu éloignée des villes pour faire des visites notamment de la côte sud de l'ile qui nécessite de repasser soit par Rethymnon, Héraklion ou la Canée.

Dunkel, alt, ungepflegt - nicht weiterzuempfehlen

Die Zimmer sind dunkel, kalt und müffeln, insgesamt sind alle Räume extrem dunkel und ungepflegt. Das Personal nannte dies \"das ist der Stil\", die Vorhänge und das Interieur hingegen sehen eher so aus als wäre es seit 30 Jahren dasselbe.

Die Anlage sieht von Aussen sehr schön aus, viele Pflanzen und Blumen. Der (Kinder)-Pool hingegen war sehr verschmutzt und scheint schon seit längerer Zeit nicht mehr gereinigt worden zu sein.

Der Zoo ist sehr ungepflegt, die Tiere wirken nicht alle sehr gesund. Herumsteunende Katzen haben sichtbare Krankheiten.

Im Essensbereich werden die Zutaten für das Morgenbüffet den ganzen Tag stehen gelassen (Müesli, Konfituren etc.).

Personal gibt sich Mühe und ist freundlich. Uns wurde auch ein helleres Zimmer angeboten, haben aber abgelehnt und sind nach 1 Nacht wieder abgereist.

Kamienna wioska, trochę na uboczu, idealne miejsca dla tych osób, które wyjechały odpocząć i zrelaksować się. Niewielkie baseny z małą ilością miejsca na leżaki (zawsze wolne miejsca), obok hotelu mały zwierzyniec, 3 min autem do plaży (piasek, leżaki + parasol = 5€), dużo roślinności, rewelacyjne posiłki kuchni greckiej, ale każdy znajdzie coś dla siebie. Ogólnie polecam, tego właśnie oczekiwałem, osobom pragnącym wieczornej rozrywki i szaleństwa na basenach polecam inne hotele.

Hôtel avec du charme

Séjour très agréable. L'hôtel est a 5 mn en voiture de la baie de Bali (endroit très joli entouré de montagnes), il faut cependant une voiture si on veux visiter un peu la Créte dans sa globalité bien sur. L'avantage c'est que l'hôtel se trouve à 2mn de la sortie menant directement à l'autoroute principale (celle qui longe jusqu'à Rethymnon et plus loin Chania), même si à l'hôtel même on as l'impression d'être perdu au milieu de nul part ce qui est très agréable.

Conseil ; Louer une voiture à Bali (Royal road est bien, environ 30euros la journée, bonne voiture, gérant très arrangeant et sympathique). Manger tout en haut de Bali pour profiter de la vue, et ne restez pas que dans la baie principale, tout à droite une petite route vous mène un peu de côté où on peux louer des jetski et profiter d'autres restaurants.)
