Ocean view. Old unmaintained room. Grotty -like it has not been cleaned properly for years. Outdoor shower hot water intermittent, the rocks for shower wall were black and slimy. Small maintenance issues not attended to and now bigger issues, rotting timber in wet areas. The
Pathways very uneven , not safe for older patrons- sever falls risk. The pool was cloudy, and also showed the same lack of maintenance. Surrounding furniture old and shabby. Sun lounge cushions left out in the weather had black mould discussing. Cockroaches had infiltrated the communal book shelf on the main restaurant area, poop all over the shelving and the books falling apart at the spines from roach infiltration. I could go on and on….. Was not relaxing and did not reflect internet photos. Clearly we did not persevere

The prooerty is 3.5 star so keeping that in mind, the staff were friendly and helpful, the room and surrounds were clean, tidy and spacious. Airport shuttle service available.
Only negative was the pool looked a bit manky and i noticed no one used it while i was there. The room views off the balcony deck were stunning. Well done staff.

The staff is kind, welcoming and accommodating. I would have rated it 5 stars, but we had no water. I was able to shower the night of arrival, but my partner had zero water. So no shower after a 36 hour travel. But, they comped breakfast (a glass of juice and coffee, and 1 slice of toast and 2 hard boiled eggs between the 2 of us) for the inconvenience, so that was nice. The plunge pool was cloudy and smelled weird, so we didnt use it but for a moment , then couldn't rinse off the odd odor.
If there had been water, 5 stars all day. I certainly hope that the very special guest that was present had water! Again, the native staff was exceptional and i was pleased overall. Bula

We rented the three bedroom beach house which was quite spacious and would be great for a large group. It’s an actual standalone house with small kitchen and three separate bathrooms. Generally found the hotel fine but property and units are dated. Felt more like a US motel than a resort of any sort, and the property is no where as updated as the pictures show. It is relatively close to town. We were able to walk but it was long enough that after the first time, we took a taxi. Breakfast was very basic. I found for the overall price versus other places I stayed across Fiji, it was high for what we got. And the front office was more transactional without much interaction to guests. Neither host at reception over the two days made any effort suggest things to do.

It was simple, clean. The staff is fantastic.
Only thing id change is that id update the cigarette burned toilet seat and small table.
Owners are lovely, (i totally put my foot in my mouth when i said koro is my fave! Yikes)
The food was delicious and peggy couldnt have nbeen a better person. I came here to be with my dying father,, and the compassion and empathy that i was shown was so wonderful.

Filthiest place I stayed, no one there, nothing to do, no “breakfast included”, ate bread and butter for breakfast, was afraid to sleep under the sheets, shared my room with ants, bugs, skinks, worms, a mongoose family under my deck, stray cats and dogs roaming around and was afraid something would get into the hole in my ceiling and the hole in the wall! No bottled water or Wi-Fi provided in the room…..had nothing and lived in filth….checked out two days early…..was the worst experience of my life…..

pu at airport was an old beater, breakfast eggs were cold-buffet not good, door to room did not work, windows have no glass-everything dark if using a/c, shower outside with very limited pressure and limited hot water, only one towel provided, front view is dilapidated tin roof, no tv, clock or normal items, water not drinkable,no bottled water, chairs on front porch missing cushions

I was at Daku for two nights. As a single traveler, it was very safe and convenient. The staff were amazing. There is snorkeling right across the street which is very convenient. Walking to town takes about 30 minutes and there aren’t sidewalks at points so I might recommend taking a taxi. I had breakfast and dinner in the restaurant on site and all food was excellent. Upon arrival be sure to ask which nights they’re having a buffet because it’s worthwhile planning to stay on those nights. My Bure had a nice outdoor shower and beautiful view of the ocean. When I return to Savusavu, I will stay at Daku again.

Beautiful surroundings and greenery.Only problem is pest control,ants in toilet and sink area.Also other insects crawl inside,we took 2 millipedes outside and a small frog got inside thru gaps in between front doors.

Nothing to like. Avoid it at any cost. Rooms smell bad, dirty. Staff not helpful. No connection from rooms, only at reception. Pool is not being maintained. Water was off on the check in day and power was off on check out. Horrible place .. don't waste your money.

We stayed at Daku in July 2022 for our honeymoon. What a fantastic place it was and stay we had.
Amazing service from the team, very personable. Fantastic food, some of the best in Savusavu.
20 minute walk to town or very cheap taxi, always available.
Owners Dehlia and JJ were most welcoming, helpful, knowledgeable, and went out of their way to ensure we had the best honeymoon.
We even got upgraded to a the large suite with the most incredible view and a complementary massage.

Tip: don't over plan the trip, turn up, ring Daku to collect you, and go from there. Speak to the team and get recommendations depending on what you like.

Couldn't have gone any better, highly highly recommend Daku!

A great location 10 min walk from town and just across the street is the sandy waterfront for swimming.. fishing.. kayaking.. . The continental breakfast included fresh fruit.. cereal.. tea .. coffee. The dining was amazing local style lovo.. food cooked under ground and the owners JJ and Dhalia set with all the guests.. the staff was very good and accommodating

The location of the property was good.But the amenties provided was in a bad condition.small bar fridge was rusty,bathroom looked never cleaned.we were 2 people only 1 towel was given ,no face towels was given. We wore mask to be on safe side for catching covid but employees told us to not wear mask around.Not a goid suggestion wen we still have covids around.

Very friendly staff and the check in was quick and easy. The villa had average amenities but the hot water system wasn't working and no ironing facility. Rooms were not serviced and when I asked the receptionist she told me they didn't have a spare key for the villa. room wasn't serviced throughout our stay.

I was supposed to get a room with 2 beds instead they gave me a big house , wouldn’t mind staying in the house but the location was scary for us , Getting to the room was very dark , no phone to contact front desk from room, no ac in living space. Couldn’t sleep for well so security leave at 5 am.

Was only there for a short work trip but everything was great. Very much enjoyed the staff and owners who were very welcoming and helpful. Just far enough out of town to feel comfortable and relaxing but close enough to all that Savusavu has to offer. Great views and just across small access road from the bay. Didn't have time to go out in the water, but expect that snorkeling trip from here would be wonderful. Great indian curries at the restaurant and wifi speed and connectivity from the restaurant and lounge area were very good. Nice looking pool but again, due to workload didn't have opportunity to enjoy. Nice green gardens area and even possibility to walk around property which would be nice. Love my stay here. Highly recommend and will stay here on future trips if available.

Lovely retreat!

Great hotel and location for a trip to Savusavu. Daku staff is very kind and accommodating; you can easily walk to town for a meal or shopping. Resort offers free kayaks to paddle around in - and a dock to swim to - as well as a pool. A lovely retreat!

Perfect location for Savusavu!

We stayed at the Daku Resort for a week and it was a wonderful stay - and the perfect location! We could easily walk in to town, or stay at the resort for a meal; the water is just steps away and we enjoyed the kayaks and paddleboard the Daku provided. So nice to be able to use the dock, too. The staff is so nice, and super helpful. This is not a 5-star resort, but Daku is unpretentious, comfortable, and a pleasant place to stay. Highly recommend!

Poor Service and Lousy Breakfast

I stayed 8 nights at Daku with breakfast included with my family; there is anything to eat compared to the other resorts that I went to on the main island of Viti Levu. Each morning, you only get things like baked beans, scrambled eggs, sausage and white bread for you to toast. When I asked for 2 \"sunny side up\" eggs, the staff replied \"You can't eat the scrambled eggs?\". The worst part was one morning when I went for breakfast, there were moulds on the bread !! Another morning, I found a fly in my child's juice! The quality of the service and the attitude of the staff here leave a sour taste in an otherwise beautiful holidays in fiji. Daku Resort -- Highly Not Recommended !!

Daku was disappointing. It was noisy (busy road in front of the resort). It has had it's best days. When we arrived we were 'upgraded' to a house we did not book. We (just 2 of us) got a house with 3 bedroom, but without the plunge pool. The manager and his family were in there. Thanks to Expedia staff we got the house we booked the next day. The resort is actually best accommodated for groups. And when there are groups there is less attention for other guests. One night one of the houses was rented out to locals who were drunk. They made a lot of noise and vomited in the garden. When other guests complained the manager refused to do something about it. Hygiene could be better. Would I go again? Definitely not!

Newer units were great with attached hot and cold shower - fantastic! Needs TV in each of those units, will be great!

Glad I stayed.

The stay was only for a week but it was very nice and easy. The food is good but what made it great was the meeting of fellow travelers at breakfast and dinner. It is very quiet at night making sleep come easy. If you needed it the rooms come equipped with air conditioning, if not rooms are screened and louvered with a ceiling fan to assist the wonderful trade winds that I miss right now.

Daku Resort is close to town but closer to the jungle. The reef just on the other side of the main road is full of fish. Get a mask and fins from the front desk and it becomes an easy adventure.

Rustic Resort

For visitors who desire to participate in one of the classes offered, Daku presents a friendly option. The food is good and the communal dining permits the solo traveler to socialize with other guests. The rooms are older and rustic. The hot water and a/c did not work in my bure; the shower was outside; there was no TV. Many of the bures are on a hill with several steps to climb. Staff were friendly.

Great Savusavu Experience at Daku!

We stayed a week in a hillside villa with plunge pool. It was awesome! From the time JJ picked us up at the airport, we felt like a part of the Daku family. We enjoyed nightly family style dinners with JJ, Delia, and the other guests. The staff was outstanding and attended to our every need/wish. The activities that Daku arranged for us were terrific. The visit to Vuadomo Falls was a hightlight, but we also enjoyed kayaking in front of the property at sunrise and sunset. We very much enjoyed our time at Daku, and will definitely return.

Review of Two bedroom Villa with Private pool.

Our experience was fair especially with the hotel staff upgrading our party to the Villa with a private pool since it came with air-conditioning. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves since its located in a pristine are of Savusavu. The rooms were not as clean as expected of resorts though. I expected cleaner surroundings. Even the resort restaurant and pool area seating furniture was excessively dusty and looked as though had not been wiped down for a month ( if you think of insects and the mess they can leave behind )

The plumbing of our room was fine except the shower drain seemed clogged. The kitchen counter was littered with lizard feces... Overall if this was all fixed the overall rating would be much higher.

All units are stand-alone houses which was great for privacy. Two of our rooms smelled of cat urine and the door broke which trapped us in the room, to be fair this is probably the oldest building they have. Some of the staff charged us differently for the same meals, very weird.

Great resort to get back to basics

The resort is a short walk from the town of Savusavu, and is formed of huts facing the sea and nestled in the hills.

The center of the resort is the dining building and pool area.

The staff were very eager to help with any request or difficulty.

Excellent location

Daku is s rare pleasure. Walking distance to everything you would care about yet removed enough that you aren't caught up in the rush. Its a 15 minute stroll to the town. The resort itself is pleasant enough. Rooms are spacious and clean. If you are expecting a 5 star resort look elsewhere. If however you want something closer to a home stay with room service look no further. The meals are excellent and the staff a friendly. The cocktails are tasty, and I recommend ordering a coconut (ask for it to be opened later to get the tasty flesh). Be sure to try snorkelling just off the beach near the dock but beware the jellyfish which have a painful sting.

Paradise with a familiar feeling

Awesome place. Right next to the ocean, walking distance from downtown (although not a short one - nice and easy with great views). Everyone was very gracious, everyone joining for meals, but the best part bar none was the massage by Kalo, OMG!!!! The setting, overlooking the ocean, the noise of the waves and his magic hands...priceless, really! I have massages regularly, and these were the best massages ever.

Great place to go and relax

I decided to stay somewhere a little different on my business trip to Vanua Levu, and found this resort. When I arrived everyone was so welcoming and knew my name from the minute I stepped in. The room was tidy and overlooking the beach. I loved the outdoor shower, I little liberating actually!! The resort was very quiet even though the place was full, most people went out during the day to events or diving, but my purpose was just to relax.....which I certainly did, in great fashion. JJ and Delia were fantastic hosts never forgetting my name, making me feel welcome...even they had only arrived back that same day. Thanks again for a great time, and I hope to return someday.

We're coming back for sure

Daku was our most memorable stay and we are sure to return, multiple times! Thank you JJ and all at Daku for a wonderful stay!

My boyfriend and I rocked up after a long flight/drive from Nadi and Labasa airports but a refreshing coconut drink and a smiling staff upon our arrival was most satisfying. The place is lovely with lots of trees and plants and our ocean-view bure was perfect for our 6 night stay. It was clean, and every day we would get fresh flowers arranged differently everyday on our bed.

Right outside our bure was a volleyball court, which my boyfriend and I played frisbee during the afternoon when we had nothing planned. The view is amazing, definitely felt like I was on holiday from the bustling city of Melbourne back home.

The highlight of our stay was the staff and visitors we met. JJ (the owner) was wonderful and helped us get our diving course sorted and even helped us arrange a later flight for us so that we don't have to wake up at 4am in the morning!

There was also one night where we decided to have dinner at Daku, and to our surprise the dinners at Daku is seated together with other visitors so that you can mingle. This was a great experience because we got to know a little more about each other and we were told interesting diving tales (as my boyfriend and I have never tried diving before). Even though I didn't have much (or nothing!) to share about diving but I couldn't help but feel like we were all a little family :)

Highly recommended!

Daku resort passar perfekt för dig som vill uppleva den riktiga skönheten i Fiji och inte den mansbyggda turistnäringen som gör sig vacker för att tjäna pengar. Daku resort är ett bekvämt ställe i ett Fiji där naturen bara är makalös utan att man har fifflat med naturen. Jättegod mat i restaurangen, väldigt trevlig personal samt rena och fina rum och väldigt lugnt och vackert ställe. Grym dusch, skön pool och extremt vackert hav med en flytbrygga man kan simma till och snorkla. Väldigt lätt att be personalen om hjälp om man vill hitta på nånting.
