Beautiful hotel in tranquil and peaceful location. Staff all very welcoming and accommodating. Last minute trip away and stay in lovely deluxe suite. Dinner in the hotel was amazing, very reasonably priced. Comfortable sleep followed by a full Scottish breakfast. Manager checked us out and was very friendly and hospitable and would definitely stay again.

Great Hotel!

We loved staying at this hotel! It was so inviting, tastefully decorated, and helpful staff. We especially enjoyed the restaurant for both breakfast and dinner. Our waiter was exceptional as was the food! The young lady at the front desk helped us with tips for sights around the village! We would stay here again without hesitation.

Just checked out of the Dunalastair Suite, and I can't help but feel a wave of emotion wash over me at the thought of leaving this enchanting haven. This gem nestled in the majestic mountains of Loch Lomond is nothing short of a paradise, and I truly hope to return someday never say never, right?

The hotel itself is a masterpiece, surrounded by the soothing embrace of the river and breathtaking scenery that captivates the soul. Every corner of this place is immaculate, reflecting the care and attention to detail that the staff pours into their work. Speaking of the staff, they treated us like royalty! The owner, Surya, went above and beyond by taking time out of his busy schedule to personally brew and serve us some of the best coffee I've ever tasted. It was a delightful touch that made our stay even more special.

Eugene, Shannon, and Habanni were simply phenomenal, making us feel like VIPs throughout our visit. Our suite was a sanctuary spacious, well-stocked, and thoughtfully equipped with everything we could possibly need: water, coffee, snacks, plush robes, and so much more.

If you’re a nature lover seeking daily adventures, this is the ultimate destination. The tranquility and beauty of Loch Ronnach will leave you spellbound. I can’t recommend this hotel enough!

The staff were lovely and helpful but feel they are rather stretched. The suite was lovely, clean, and had great views. Unfortunately there were no dining facilities as they had no chef. We were asked if we had received the email informing us but still haven't received it. We were able to have breakfast which was acceptable, but unfortunately, lacked that standard on the last day.
We did enjoy our stay though.

Not a 5 star hotel

Booked a night away with my husband.
First, no remote for the TV, we eventually got one.
Rooms are supposedly soundproof, not when you're placed in a room with an adjoining room, separated by a door. We could hear full conversation frrom the guests in the adjoining room. Reception upgraded us to another room.

The new room, had no TV remote, turns out they had removed the remote to put in our first room.

Drinks are expensive, view is not as described, food was mediocre. Breakfast was sparse. Staff were pleasant enough. I didnt know it was in administration when i booked, it definitely shows.

Also, a deposit of £100 requested upon arrival, no mention of this on booking or hotel website.

Not a 5 star hotel.

Rooms very nice and clean! With all you need.

Excellent service from the breakfast staff! And our vegetarian breakfast was tasty and filling. There was also pleanty of options to choose from.

Only one thing i would say needs improvement are some furnishings are running the overall aesthetics due too large chps on the table and cubards.

We got to stay for two nights at a very good price!
We eally enjoyed our stay! And would definitely stay again.

This is a really nice hotel. Public areas are bright and welcoming whilst the suite offered, Schiehallion, was spacious and comfortable. Staff were obliging and friendly and the experience overall with regards the accommodation was very positive. The experience in the restaurant was less impressive but not altogether negative. A modest uptick in experienced staff would assist some I sense. Would stay here again.

Really good experience as we used Dunalastair Suites Hotel as our base for explorations around Kinloch Rannoch.

Staff members were friendly and very helpful when we had a minor issue including Nicola on Reception who also draws maps to supplement Google and Eugene who was pleasantly engaging and efficient in the bar and on busy breakfast duties. Incidentally the breakfasts were lovely but we self-catered in the suite and ate out locally for dinners.

Really good stay and we wish the team well as new owners anticipated end of June 2025.

This visit was unique. Beautiful modern hotel that is incredibly under staffed. Restaurant was good, but again, under staffed. I think there is/was an ownership transfer recently. Additionally, it is not in Pitlochry. It is 20-30 minutes west. Beautiful area! Small town on the loch with trails, a bridge and a cool waterfall. Over, a good visit.

Avoid at all costs - hotel in administration

Arrived for a friends birthday
Was quickly checked in and asked to pay.
After paying we were told there is no restaurant available and possibly no bar due to hotel going into administration. Due to the location there is no other options around for food so we asked for a refund. This wasn’t possible.
Thankfully after a lot of back and forth with the hotel, I was issued a refund.

Charged £100 when checking in. Not noted anywhere when booking.

Couldn’t really understand what the staff were saying behind reception.

From what I understood we were told no room service even though this was mentioned on the website.

Breakfast included is poor which led us not to even bother.

Apparently a 5* hotel. I’ve went to 3/4* that were way above the standard of this hotel. Dirt in places. Chip marks on the furnishings. Room needed a paint.

In our last night, someone walked into our room and when they realised we were in there took off.

Fire alarm went off 3 times for no reason.

I honestly couldn’t with a clear conscience recommend this place to anyone.

A waste of money and a real shame as the area is fantastic.

In administration so beware

Very nice to look at. Clean & comfortable, feel we should have been made aware of it being in administration. So we could have made decision whether to stay or not only 4 staff in total 1 waiter 1 cleaner 2 front of house. No bar is available anymore. Menu was very short.prices for food expensive considering how poor the quality was, hummus served with homemade bread ( bread was cheap sliced ) chicken supreme was overcooked served on tin sweetcorn and broccoli. Madeira sauce was cream & Madeira wine which was awful, homemade chips were cheap frozen chips. Burger & chips, brioche bun defrosted to order or stale take your pick. Frozen chips brown lettuce. Not edible & olives not fresh bill was £74.00 give or take, first time I’ve gone to bed hungry after 5.5hr drive.breakfast was available but for another £30 for 2 no thanks not after worst dinner you can imagine. On average we go away 15/20 times a year. This was worst food experience. Did tell receptionist but not interested as in administration no discount offered. Such a shame. Pictures on hotels.com show beautiful food but most facilities including good food not available

Disappointing stay - average hotel.

Disappointing stay! We asked to move room after checking in but only downgrades and unsuitable rooms (separate rooms) were available.

Booked a Stable suite hoping that this would be ground level as we travelled with our baby. It was not suitable for a pram/ baby with lots of stairs up to the room. More information could be added to the website to help with room choice.

We had a strong smell of damp in the suite’s bathroom which gradually was noticeable in the main area. Concerning as we travelled with our baby.

Suite is average - felt tired and sparse. Near to no natural light so felt gloomy and was not big enough for three adults. Blind broken, table with chips & kitchen set up is basic and not properly considered (cups & items but nothing to dry these).

Dinner was expensive and not worth the price paid.

Air fresher is pumped throughout the hotel, beautiful but was completely overpowering.

Breakfast upgrade was extortionate and again average quality.

Staff were really helpful, building was really beautiful & immaculately clean. Location was great.

I feel the hotel misses the mark for luxury & would say more like 3* with a lot of potential if better attention was paid to issues. It feels like it is sold as a formal, upmarket hotel with great dining but furniture/ everything inside is not of that standard.

I contacted the hotel privately with feedback but no response after nearly two weeks.

Shower drain blocked, 2 days, not even an apology.
No cooked breakfast included, no prices on any food menus. On arrival we were told only booked for 1 person and had to pay extra £40.
I would Not recommend this hotel although the Kinloch hotel just up the road was where we ate and the ambience was excellent, the staff told us they had heard a good few people complaining about the dunalister, I don't normally write reviews but I'm so unhappy about our experience I thought I would hopefully help someone avoid this place.
We were meant to be celebrating our engagement but we've booked another hotel for tomorrow so we will try and put the dunalister behind us and pls remember it's not a cheap hotel, we were so disappointed. If your looking for a Scottish experience then the dunalister is Not it,

Beautiful property, but total lack of character.
The library has no books, games or a bar to speak of. It is a grey room with grey couches and terrible elevator music. As soon as you walk in, the only thing on your mind is “how can I excuse myself out of this room?”
The restaurant serves decent meals, but they are overpriced and the dining room is perhaps the most boring room I have ever sat in.
It’s really too bad because the property is located in an area of Scotland rich with history and folklore, yet all common areas of the hotel are hollow and void of life.
Every piece of art on the wall looks like it was generated by first generation AI told to spit out variations of “monochrome overlapping geometric shapes” and “black blotches on white background”.
Perhaps these are all petty criticisms, but the hotel is a disturbingly boring place to stay.
If all you’re after is a clean room and nice smelling soap, this is your place!
If you’re after a nice place to spend a weekend, look elsewhere!

Lovely hotel but not a 5 star, food was well below par and had to send a meal back, waited forever to get another, just as bad. We stayed here for one night and had a second floor loft suite. The room was clean and modern and nicely decorated. We especially loved the fresh shortbread cookies and the fresh milk and the fridge for our coffee in the morning. The bathroom was clean and also modern. The building itself is beautiful and the location was nice and close to a local walking trail that we took that went from the dam all the way up to the Falls. You are wise to be suspicious of reviews as some are fabricated. This one is not. We have the receipts and expenses to prove it. We were shown to a small room at the very end of the hotel with a view of a parking lot and adjacent building. Nothing of the \"captivating views as standard\" claimed in their brochure. The room had hair in the sink, stains on the carpet, crumbs and general disarray, and was well-worn. Not the calibre of a 5-Star hotel. We asked for second room, this one had been recently cleaned. Once in, we realized the carpet was wet with cleaning solution. The Desk Mgr slipped and almost fell in the room. We were told to wear slippers to avoid the wet. We asked for a third room. The hotel is virtually empty. This room was acceptable but by now, we were exasperated and tired. This process, full of confusion and missteps, had taken over 2 hours. We decided to leave the hotel the following morning and short-shift our two day booking. We wanted to go back to Glasgow and the Hilton where we had been treated royally. For dinner, the hotel offered us two glasses of wine as compensation for our inconvenience. The dinner was adequate but not what we expected of a celebrated chef. We discovered later that evening that they had no intention of refunding us for the second night. They intended to keep the full cost of the two-night booking despite our departure after one night. We disputed but they refused to relent. We wish you a better experience. Scotland is beautiful

Not the best start to our vacation, arrived early told room wouldn’t be ready till 4pm no exceptions, travelled from Canada so had to sit in the car and sleep. When we went back in to check in 3 members of staff greeted us not very welcoming, Paid for breakfast, there was only scraps left the last morning and only 8.30, ended up only having toast yes 19.00 for toast. had to book for breakfast even though hardly one in the restaurant. tv no channels seems like they pay more attention to details on hotel presentation rather than customers, we will not be going back

Nice stay (one night), hidden breakfast charges

Nice room. Suite with two bedrooms. Comfy beds. Only one room had a window (small and up high). Parking limited. Breakfast you will have to pay even for continental (no indication from staff or the menu that the continental breakfast wasn’t included in the room price). Hot portion you were informed of pricing before you ordered.

I stayed at this hotel 20 years ago and then again this weekend, the interior has had a complete makeover/upgrade and the rooms are amazing for the price and would recommend for anyone looking to get away from it all for a couple of nights.
A but remote with nothing much in the village itself but you are only 20/30 mins away from Pitlochry.

Bathroom trash was full when we checked in. Contacted front desk, 2 hours later they still hadn’t changed it. Finally they did because of a loud reception confrontation. Next day, we left for 10 hours, and housekeeping never closed our room door after service so our belonging were unsecured. We went to check out at 6:30 am and told we couldn’t check out until 8:30am. The man at the front desk didn’t know how to check people out. (We left without a receipt, asked for one to be emailed… still haven’t received it.). The carpet in the hotel hall is a gray plaid. There are ups and downs steps in the hall to the lobby and exits. It is very easy to miss these steps as they blend in and unmarked. This property is 45 minute drive from Pitlochry, the road is very narrow and curvy. If you do choose to stay at Dunalastair realize you NEED TO BRING PROVISIONS. Only two hotel restaurants in the area… no pubs with TV’s if you want to watch any sports. Rudest front desk i have EVER dealt with. Have you ever wanted to smack off someone? Luckily, I stayed in control but in reality I close to losing my composure as he was deliberately being obtuse. I WISH WE HAD THIS INFORMATION TO HEED.

Lovely hotel , friendly staff. We stayed 3 nights and had to ask for water as this was not refreshed . Also dirty dishes were left after housekeeping .
Ate in the restuarant and ordered Vegan Wellington which was looked like a flaky pastry pie yiu would buy at Greg's . It was cold inside. I spoke to the waiter, who took it back to the kitchen , it was returned heated up with a load if a tomato over it covering the small piece I had eaten. When I started eating it I found the flaky pastry soggy and virtually no fillling inside. I had to advise a senior member if staff who advised I wouldnt be charged , but when checking out we were told somethng had been missed from your bill! The Vegan Wellington which cost £24.95 and one of the worst meals I have had.

Lovely hotel and staff. Check in was a little rocky as the hotel had trouble getting all of their clean linens back. The manager comped our full breakfast the next morning and had our bags moved into the suite when it was ready.
Overall, it was a delightful stay with fantastic service. Breakfast was delicious, too!

Overnight Stay

1st visit to Dunalistair with friends for their special wedding anniversary. Stopped off at Pitlochry on the way, realising it was still 25 minutes away.

The hotel is a lovely old building with a beautiful church in the front.
On entering the hotel , we were very impressed by the whole modern feel & lovely clean decor.
The rooms are very modern with fresh, light decor & furnishings - our room was spacious too, with the most comfortable bed & pillows.
Dinner & breakfast was included in our stay, the restaurant had excellent choices , especially for breakfast , with the service being so friendly & helpful.
We also sat at the bar area , again comfortable area with really lovely attentive staff. All the staff are a credit to the hotel.
Overall an excellent stay - there is not alot in the vicinity, so do not expect other pubs - there is a small cafe & 1 shop across the bridge , but we were more then happy to stay in the hotel.

This one left some mixed feelings I have to admit. Amazing and beautiful location, beautiful hotel building and area as well. Great food for each meal so huge compliments to the chef. Now the staff was a bit of an issue. Evidently the hotel was understaffed in the week after Christmas and it has really reflected on attitude of some of the staff. Some members were friendly and helpful, but some were to be honest the opposite of that. Really a function of understaffing I believe but when you position yourself as a 5-star hotel, you need to account for those things accordingly. As such, the service is not really commensurate with a 5-star hotel expectations (neither is the cost though, in fairness). Basically everything was great but the issues with some of the staff left a bit of a bitter aftertaste - hopefully this is sorted going forward. Huge thanks though to other members of the staff who were very friendly and helpful.

Disappointed

I had communicated with the hotel in advance of our stay to ask if they could accommodate my wife’s vegan and GF dietary requirements. I was assured that this was no problem.

However, every meal was a challenge. At breakfast, having asked for a plateful of whatever was not vegan and GF, the plate included two eggs, which they gave us no confidence that the vegetarian haggis and sausage were actually GF.

By way of an apology, the well-intentioned server presented us with two scones and clotted cream as we left the restaurant!

In the room, the smart TV apps didn’t work and a window blind was broken.

Although smart, clean and tidy the modern mono-chromatic colour scheme in the hotel was drab and lifeless.

The hotel claims 5 star status but I have no idea how that was granted by any independent rating body.

We did get some money off our bill when we fed back our experience on checking out, but our rare night away was spoiled.

Good rooms, bad restaurant.

The room was very nice, large and clean. The reception staff where very inviting and polite. However the overnight was somewhat spoiled by the restaurant and hotel bar. We were greeted by rude and poor service in these areas by a member of staff. The restaurant was virtually empty when we ate there with only 3 tables and we were made to feel as though they were doing us a favour by serving us. The food and drinks were excruciatingly expensive, which you wouldn’t have minded if it was very good however it was fairly average. We were brought wrong drinks at £10 for a single measure of gin, when they brought the replacement we were pretty sure it had no gin in it. There were several other things which made us uncomfortable during dinner so we just went straight back to the room after.

Historic village hotel weekend trip.

Beautiful historic building in the center of the village. View of Schiehallion, and beside waterfalls, old bridge and a short wall to the lochside.
The interior has been recently renovated. Very clean and we'll kept, but unfortunately quite generic and lacking in character. Room was a good size, but not greatly planned (large built in closet in wrong location made it very tight either side of the bed unnecessarily).
Friendly and very good service, good meal, and overall a lovely stay.

Lovely 4 star hotel

The hotel is very nice. Staff were friendly. There is no heating in the room until you switch it on which took at least an hour to heat up. The radiator in the bathroom didn't work and there was no-one who could fix it. The toilet bowl was also very stained but they have stopped using bleach! Didn't look good. The phone in the room also didn't work, wasn't an issue we just went downstairs to speak to reception and the restaurant. Overall its a very nice hotel but I wouldn't say it was 5 star.

My wife and I celebrated my 75th birthday at this lovely hotel. What is there not to like?
Hotel is excellent with excellent friendly staff. The food is excellent and well served.

I seriously regret chose this hotel.
I can not recommend any one.

Hotel staff were no interest to take care of us, they famously said
only one night stay customer
In hospitality industry, they can not treat customer equally, whatever the length we stayed.

Room was filthy, rubbish were visible all over the carpet.
Basic bath towel sets were incorrect.
Coffee machine was broken.
TV not work.
One of bed side lump not work... etc...etc..

Final straw.
Check out moment, they changed the bill and charged breakfast.
Cooked breakfast is not inclusive.
Why they did not mention when we order the breakfast ?
Dear Expedia, please mention clearly with room rate include not just continental breakfast but also if you order cooked breakfast THEY CHRGE YOU.

They just squeezed us, but we never received five star treatment at all.
I do not know why this hotel can keep such stars.
