The bed mattress was impossibly soft to sleep on. Like trying to sleep on a bunch of marshmallows. The TV didn't work at all. The toilet flapper was leaking, causing the toilet to cycle all night long.

Grounds are beautiful. Buildings are taken care off but in need of remodeling as they are aged. Plenty of parking for truck and trailer. Housekeeping is not every other day as stated. It is nonexistent. The app they use for tv is horrible. Glitches frequently, kicking you out of what you are watching. It signs you out and you have to submit a ticket for a tech to come out and enter a password.

Old outdated facility that once had it's hay day but not today. We were there for a family get together and after first night was moved from garden room because the whole rooms floor was wet and centipedes were crawling around. They moved us to the updated lodge and said there would be no upcharge since we did not request the move and had already prepaid for our stay. They lied and there was an upcharge that we were charged. No response from Fontana. Some of our family stayed in the \"cottages\" and one family stayed in the same cottage 7 years ago and it still had the same old furniture. Breakfast buffet was $65 for three of us. The marina was nice and the boat rental was great. The lake is beautiful and was our highlight.

Everuthing was wonderful except for the lodge room ajoining room door. Thst door is paper thin and yiu can hear everything yiir neighbor does. We had our TV at 20 volume level and they complained it wa stoo loud
I could here her on her phone and the entire conversation. Ask for a room with out an ajpining room door. You will thank me. Also wish they had a little more variety on the breakfast buffet. Maybe add some yogurt or oatmeal. It was Alot of carbs.

We have stayed here for years at cabins but got a handicapped accessible room in the Garden section A. There was a ramp and the room was accessible but there was no nearby HC parking. That is an easy fix to make one of the nearby parking spots HC.

The keys didn't work on the first attempt, so we had to drive back to front desk to get new ones. Once in the room, we noticed the shower curtain was missing. We had to drive back for the second time to the front desk to get shower curtains and hang them up ourselves. The floor was tiled and was wet, like it was damp mopped, but never dried. We reported, but weren't moved to a new room, despite open rooms available. The hotel appeared very runned down. Do not recommend

Do not stay in the Garden Villas. They are beyond outdated, smell, in poor condition, WiFi is spotty, tv barely worked, AC was beyond loud. Donna at check in was super nice and helpful! Only stay in the main lodge, that’s where the pictures are from.

Upon arrival, I was very excited about this resort, it gave me Dirty Dancing vibes!! The general store had a great selection of souvenirs as well. At check in, the lady behind the desk was not very friendly or personable. We were simply checked in, shown where to go on a map that was all. No real greetings, conversation, smile or anything. We at onsite at the tavern, the staff and food were great. By the time we finished dinner, it was dark out and trying to find our room was a bit challenging. The signs on the property versus what was on the map were different. The parking for our room was conveniently located right at our door, but again, there was no lighting and it was VERY dark. When we walked into the room, our initial reaction was pleasant. However, as we were settling in, we began to realize there were quite a few issues. The room only had a few lamps, it appears that the whole theme there is to keep it as dark as possible (insert face palm emoji here). The dresser was pulled out away from the wall, the tv was not plugged in, the tv would not work once plugged in, front desk had no interest in correcting or even say they were sorry for the inconvenience...I was simply told, \"i will let them know\" and she hung up.There was zero water pressure in the shower and the sink drained very SLOWLY, oh and you guessed it, the lighting over the vanity area was HORRIBLE! We also informed the front desk of the sink draining slowly...she said, \"ok\" and that was all. No plugs either!

The stay was last minute booking and everything was nice. Room was good size for a couple and very clean.

The only thing I would say needs to be better is signs/directions as you come into the property or get the property before dark since it is in mountains. It was hard to tell where room was once we found check in area. Overall it was great. Would stay again.

The location was great. Tucked away in a very remote valley. We stayed the night before riding \"the tail of the dragon\". Everyone was freindly and helpful. Two complaints, 1) The cantina closed at 8:00. Kinda early for us. 2) The room was super musty, and maybe a bit dated. Other than that, it was a pretty cool place.

This is a yearly family trip but first time staying here. It is a great location and beautiful resort. Very family and pet friendly with opportunities for daily activities. We are renting a boat today at the marina across the street. We will definitely book again for

The room was old and dark. Tv didn’t work no usb plugs to change phone. No kleenex. Mattress was sagging in the middle. It was not worth the money. It was in the Same class as Motel 6 even worse. I think they should pay me some money back because it was so bad. I will never stay there again

First the good…
They have a restaurant on property. Food was just ok. The people working there were really nice. Our sons stayed in the lodge and said their room was fine.

The rest…
When we arrived at the property we were told that they’d be adding a $16.50 a night activity fee since we’d booked through Expedia. And since we had both a room in the lodge and a “cabin” we had to pay it twice. We also had a dog with us. Their website said the dog would be $25 a night. They tried to charge us $50 until we complained about it.

My wife and I stayed in what Fontana Village calls a cabin. It came equipped with a toilet that was literally mounted to what I can only assume was a rotted out area of the floor via a piece of MDF. And when I say mounted, I am only referring to the appearance. The toilet absolutely was not attached to anything stable. You also couldn’t shut the bathroom door properly because the door knob would come off in your hand. In the kitchen, the refrigerator was covered in rust and sounded like it was going to give up at any moment. In the bedroom, the carpet (and why you’d have carpet in a cabin bedroom I do not know) was absolutely disgusting. And when I pulled back the comforter on the bed it revealed hair from what I can only assume was many past guests. Lots of hair. Since we were headed out backpacking the next morning, we simply covered the bed and slept in our sleeping bags.

Avoid this place. Go literally anywhere else.

Quiet, but not the best place we have stayed

We stayed in a member owned cottage. The cottages are modular mobile home-type structures. Pretty area. Quiet. Complete furnishings like an Air B and B with full size fridge, dishes, etc. Generally clean but some mold/dirt on floor moulding, etc. Only two pillows in the unit which was a bit of of pain since my wife and I each use 2 for posture reasons. The AC was very noisy. Also, no blow dryer in the room. My wife has morovised by using the AC vent. Internet only works in some areas of the property.

The area is beautiful, and the pools were nice. The rooms were comfortable and cleanish. Having putt-putt golf and frisbee golf and scheduled activities was nice. You can’t beat $1 kids scoop at the ice creAm place. Be sure to check out the dam.

The property shows some wear. For multi-night visitors, if you want your bed made, be sure not to leave *anything* on the bed. I poured coffee down the sink one day, and the dried coffee splatter remained in the sink after “cleaning.” They will not make it. They weren’t too concerned when I pointed out there were no towels at the pool, suggesting I walk over to another office to let them know. (It was only a 3-4 minute walk, but they didn’t offer to call.) The food got a bit tiresome after a short while, and it’s a bit far to go for a change. The general store was very limited on food items. That said, we definitely recommend checking out Bryson City and the Oconaluftee Indian Village in Cherokee, which make good excuses to eat elsewhere.

We’d stay again, but would figure out the food issue ahead of time.

Nice open layout of the property. Two things though, the grill needs to be open later and the property WiFi was not very good. I stayed 1 night in a cabin and 2 nights in the resort and I was unable to connect in either place. Without cell service in this area this is the only communication I had with family back home. My wife was trying to get a hold of me and could not reach me, I would expect better WiFi in a resort in 2019.

Beautiful setting. A lot of amenties not available during colder months. Restaurant: the food was delicious but took over an hour and a half to get food. Some food was cold when it arrived for other guests in our party. Rooms are very basic but clean. The beds are so umcomfortable we left a day early.

We like the view but the property is run down. There are plans growing in the gutter. Not enough of equipment in the room starting with no place to put your cosmetics. No place at all! No refrigerator or microwave. Swimming pool - there should be a line between deep and shallow swimming areas. The bottom is slippery and shallow goes abruptly into deep.
The stuff has no ideas about the surrounding trails.
Very overpriced place for what it offers!
It just offers a pretty view but that is not enough.
