The room was large and had convenient places to open and store your luggage. The owners and staff are very knowledgeable and helpful with the recreation and trains. They even sent our luggage to our next hotel in another town! The food was delicious and the breakfast/service was wonderful. This is one of the best hotels in our 3 week trip!

Room is clean and huge. Television is pretty new and large. The view from the balcony is great and balcony is massive. Bed is one of the best in all the hotel we have stayed. very convenient spot and quiet. The breakfast has the most options to choose from and I am missing it already. The only one downside that could be improved is the shower is weak and the hot water is kind of inconsistent. But I found it quite a typical problem in swiss hotel in general. But overall highly recommend! Just look at my photos. It is worth it!

The setting is unbelievable, like all hotels in Grindelwald. Our room opened onto a spacious patio with amazing views. The room itself was fine, nothing remarkable about it. During a September visit, we would have liked to have utilized the sauna but we were told it was only open on request during the "summer months." We would have preferred to stay somewhere with more amenities such as a pool or hot tub but we had a pleasant 1-night stay here nonetheless.

The breakfast was wonderful and service exceptional. If you stay here, please be sure and take the path behind the hotel. Views are breath taking. The location is perfect as well - right at the end of hustle and bustle of Main Street but easy walking access to everything. Also, we had stunning views of the glacier and peaks from our room! Everything was nice about this hotel. It had great views, it was clean, the rooms were spacious. The only issue we had was that they were very stingy with ice. We asked for ice so that we could cool some white wine. She would only give us a small glass of ice. It made us feel like we were not the priority since she said that she needs to have plenty for dinner paying customers. We spend a lot on the room itself. It just rubbed us the wrong way.

We booked a superior double room. It was spacious and had two large single beds pushed together. Our room had chairs for seating and the bathroom was big enough with updated facilities. The shower was also nicely sized (vs the standard ‘cruise ship’ style tubes usually found in Europe). There was a large balcony with two seats and a table. Absolute win. Did our room happen to be lucky enough to have a view of mountains? No, but I do believe that was an upgraded pricier option. Fair enough.
A huge win for us was the laundry facilities. There was a full size washer and dryer!! You will need Franc coins for this and those can be obtained from the front desk.
Every person who served at the desk here was so incredibly pleasant and helpful. We purchased lift tickets here and also received good advice for hiking.
The breakfast here was outstanding and we took advantage both mornings of our stay. The young ladies working here were so nice. There was standard ‘continental breakfast’ foods and they served coffee/cappuccino. The views from the sunroom where we ate were breathtaking.

It was a near perfect location for our five person Family. I preferred this location because it’s quieter, and it would be impossible to find a better view than the one from our hotel balcony. Recently remodeled room was the size of a small apartment with a massive wrap around balcony. We are definitely coming back and we found the staff to be very gracious and welcoming.

Such a treasure in Grindelwald. My wife and I loved this quaint hotel. Doesn’t have a lot of bells and whistles like a 5 star resort (no pool, no ice machine, no fridge but they have a wonderful breakfast in the most beautiful setting & the room we stayed in (34) was perfect for us. The staff was so warm and helpful and we just loved the history and the fresh flowers adorning the outside of the hotel. We experienced ZERO issues and the hotel head would get us ice on request (Americans love their ice) ;)

We stayed near the end of September. Since there is no A/C (which we knew in advance), we opened the windows. Unfortunately, this allows mosquitoes and flies in the room. The breakfast, while nice, was the same as any other continental breakfast we had in Switzerland. The bathroom had been nicely remodeled but the rest of the room was very tired and in need of refurbishment. The location was excellent, clean, easy to get a bus into town or train station and very quiet. The view from the dining area was spectacular. Even the back of the hotel (not toward the mountains) where our room was located was very pleasant. Unlike every other place we stayed in Switzerland, the room was not equipped with a mini-fridge.

We enjoyed our stay very much. The room was charming and very clean with a balcony looking toward the beautiful Alps!! We were welcomed by the owners and provided with helpful tips on how to experience the Alps from Grindlewald. We ate a dinner and a breakfast at the hotel with excellent service and very nice menu choices.

Old world charm. Very good condition. Delicious breakfasts. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We did visit at a time when the weather was much hotter than usual and there was no A/C. Which made for uncomfortable nights, but the whole town had the same problem. We would stay here again.

We stayed in summer. Hotel is outside of town a bit but on a main drag (where busses go by occasionally - which seems to be sort of normal for this town.) Walkable - 10-15 mns to town center. Bar was welcomed and balconies were a nice plus. Amenities were adequate but not amazing.

For what I paid the room was tiny. There is hardly space to put anything anywhere. Room was hot in the evening. Wanted to go out to the balcony and smokers in the next two rooms prevented me from doing so. Shower only has shampoo no soap. Asked for some ice, I was told it is only for the restaurant guest. Stayed two days. First breakfast at the cereal bar the milk looked funky and it smelled. I asked the lady there and she initially said it’s OK but then when I showed she realized it was not (it was half way to yogurt) and changed it. The young help staff at the breakfast were friendly. BTW my bed sheets were worn out and had two holes.

Although building is over 100 years old, it has been updated while keeping original features. Very clean and well maintained. Owners are very friendly, service is excellent, food was delicious. The view from our room was stunning.

Hotel Gletschergarten is the absolute Swiss experience located at the edge of town beneath the beautiful alps. As it is family owned , four generations, husband and wife are hands on daily with staff so everything works like clockwork. Continental breakfast is enjoyed with a spectacular morning view. Dinners are delicious, convenient, and optional with a single menu every night.

Only downside was a noisy bathroom fan that didn’t go off for a few minutes but when the door was closed you could barely hear it. A beautiful property owned by one family for four generations and lovingly cared for. Attention to detail is apparent everywhere from the high quality meals, the spa, the traditional Swiss decor and the many sitting rooms with comfortable furniture, fireplaces, comfortable beds, washer dryer for guests, a game room, and more. Our room had a wraparound balcony with views of the of the Eiger and snow covered mountains. The hotel is well located near lifts and transportation and a short walk to many restaurants, shops and the sports center. Gary and Gabriela were always available and delightful. We will definitely stay here again.

The owners were very extremely kind and always helpful. The property itself was a bit dated but given the historical nature of the property, it's understandable. The beds were nothing more than a thick foam pad but maybe that's a European standard I'm not familiar with. There was no coffee in the room and if you missed breakfast, you were out of luck as there was no alternative after (or at least when I asked I was told to visit the cafe across the street). The hotel advertised a bar, but no stools are provided to sit and relax so I felt a bit awkward walking in and asking for a drink. They closed at 10PM so a bit early from US standards. You needed your key to lock the room from inside and as someone accustomed to US hotels, that was concerning. I'm accustomed to locking the door with a mechanism and being able to open anytime from inside. We left the key in the door at all times if we needed to exit after locking our room in the event of an emergency. Could you imagine if there was an emergency and we couldn't locate the key?
Overall, it's a dated hotel/bed and breakfast but this wouldn't prevent me from staying again. It's a family owned hotel and a lovely family they are :-)

We absolutely loved our three day stay at Gary and Gabriela’s hotel. We felt welcomed from the moment we arrived in Grindewalt! Gaby, Gary, their son Lars and their staff made us feel at home until the day we left. They always greeted us with a smile and ask if there was anything else they could do for us, they were super helpful in guiding us around town. We had dinner and breakfast there and absolutely loved every meal. Highly recommend they’re hotel, you will not regret it! The rooms are a bit small but they’re very cozy and comfortable!

This hotel was highly recommended on many travel sites and they were not wrong. The staff and service provided was absolutely amazing. They went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and help with anything we had questions about. The location was a bit further from other hotels in the heart of town but definitely worth it for the views. We had a large room with a massive balcony on the 3rd floor. Everything was extremely cozy and felt like home. Would certainly stay here again.

This is a classic Swiss Alpine hotel. The proprietors are 4th generation, and work the front desk. The hotel is beyond charming, and the staff (excellent English) was awesome. The service is very personalized, including morning review of the mountain top web cams to advise you where to go for the best views on your hike. 11 out of 10!!! Would highly recommend, and would go again.

Family owned since 1899. This is one of the oldest chalets in Grindelwald. The owners are very nice and gave us great travel suggestions. The facilities are constantly updated in this old wooden building, although as Asian travelers we would have preferred harder beds and pillows. This is a lovely hotel to stay in.

My wife, daughter, and I stayed in Grindelwald for four nights. We chose this hotel because of its many raving reviews. Having travelled much in Europe, Asia, and the USA, we’ve never experienced such incredible kindness, care, and attention from hotel staff (which has owned and operated the hotel for four generations). This pride and care is a family legacy and the family is adamant in preserving a reputation of excellence. As for the facility, the panoramic views of mountains are awe-inspiring. The hotel is conveniently located next to the bus stop, which is a free, five-minute ride to the train station/downtown area. Our room had a large balcony with an incredible view. The rooms were clean, warm, large, and even equipped with towel warmers. I highly recommend dining in. We had exquisite four-course meals every night for a very good price (for Switzerland, which is quite expensive in general). The restaurant staff got to know us and were willing to make anything we wanted for our two-year-old daughter each night. Finally, their conceirge services were awesome. We could conveniently add cable car tickets (and whatever activity we chose) to our bill without any additional service charge. This property and town of Grindelwald will be one of the primary reasons that we will return to Switzerland so that we can relive this wonderful experience.

We stayed for 5 days in February in a superior double room. The hotel was one of the best we have stayed in in Europe. Nothing was too much trouble, even catering for a fussy teenager and the quality of the evening dinner was superb. Breakfast were great with lots of choice. Bedrooms were beautiful and spacious with a wrap around balcony and views of the mountains. Would definitely stay again.

The hotel has been owned by the same family for four generations and they certainly understand the hospitality business. The hotel itself is well located and quite "cozy" to say the least. The staff is more than happy to book various train and excursion tickets that come with a complete explanation as what to expect, how to get there etc. This is a tremendous benefit.
