Such a great place to stay, staff were great, location is perfect. Only thing that was a small let down was the tiny shower. We only stayed two nights so we managed. Maybe the bigger rooms have bigger showers but ours was tiny and the shower curtain makes it even smaller.

Exactly what we hoped for and more!

We loved our stay! The hotel was fairly no frills, but had everything we needed with a clean room, nice view, good AC and nice bathroom. It was the perfect location close to beaches, parks, ruins, castle and a ton of restaurants and and bars and shops within the old castle city. The staff was so friendly and super helpful in terms of navigation, taxi service and recommendations. I would stay again for sure, and very reasonable pricing in my opinion!

Avoid this hotel

While the hotel itself is quite good, the location is a massive tourist trap, which was not at all obvious on the web site or the hotel description in hotels.com. The rooms are all nonsmoking, but smokers light up right outside the hotel entrance, the doors to which for some strange reason are always left open. As a result, smoke permeates the stairway that is adjacent to the hotel entrance. Breakfast is not good compared to other similar hotels we stayed at in Italy. In particular, the coffee machine is terrible.

As for the location, sermione is a huge tourist trap and not the idyllic lake resort we had hoped for. To get to the hotel itself requires special permission to drive into the old city, which is essentially for pedestrians only. So you have to inch along on the narrow cobbled streets hoping the tourists move out of the way. Happily, we didn’t run over any of them!

All in all, the hotel was a disappointment.

This is a tidy hotel. Bed, pillows, bedding were dreadful Sheets were too narrow to tuck in. Only one chair on the balcony, one chair in the room. Breakfast weak orange juice, canned fruit and stale cereal. Two cheap plastic cups in the bathroom.

The staff at the Mavino are very helpful and friendly.
Didn't recognise the hotel from the photo on the website.

So disappointed in this hotel. The room was so small we could barely walk around the bed. The bed was more like s bench it was so hard. We paid extra for the 'view' which was moot since we wanted to spend as little time as possible in this place. Sirmione is lovely. Just stay somewhere else.

Nice hotel right next to the thermal spa

Driving to the hotel is quite an experience in itself as you are actually driving right through very small roads that almost seem to be only for pedestrians! Parking is not right at the hotel however and you still need to walk a little while but at least you can drop your luggage right at the hotel. Old town Sirmione is absolutely gorgeous and I would recommend going to the ruins and the thermal spa.

Short break to Sirmione

My friend and I had a short mid week break to Sirmione at the end of June and stayed at the Hotel Mavino. The hotel is small and basic and although the room was a little on the small side, it was perfectly adequate for a four night break. The hotel was clean, reception staff friendly and helpful and the continental breakfast was adequate.

Sirmione is beautiful and the hotel is surrounded by restaurants, shops and ice cream parlours. It gets very busy at weekends so better to go mid week and before the high season.

The Thermal Spa is amazing and five hours is not long enough to do everything! Take sun tan lotion as there is a terrace with sun beds.

Take the ferry to a specific place as timetable makes it difficult to manage to visit more than one place in a day. Garda worth a visit. Took a speedboat trip around the lake, visited the castle and ruins and paddled in the lake.

Would highly recommend this trip to adults wanting a relaxing break.

Clean room and modern. Each room has a balcony, either facing the lake or the small road. We stayed here during early June in the first floor (the hotel label the 2nd Floor as the first floor). The hotel was full of the smell of fresh flower. The only thing is the car park is 400 miles away from the hotel. You should check-in before you park your car.

Great hotel in the old town

Have to drive in slowly, as mostly pedestrian traffic and cars are only for those staying, living or working there and by permit. All part of the experience and makes for a leisurely atmosphere. Mavino is in the middle of the peninsula between the castle and the Grotte, the ruins of a Roman residence, belonging to Catullo, the poet. Staff wonderful and very helpful. Sirmione is wonderful and Mavina a great place to stay.

Wonderful location inside Sirmionie

Very nice hotel. It is inside Sirmionie which was much nicer than staying outside the castle area. No traffic allowed except for delivery and cars of people staying at the hotels. Wonderful to be there late at night when all the tourists are gone. Hotel was clean, good breakfast, staff friendly, breakfast was delicious and lots of it. Many restaurants near the hotel. Hotel is not on the lake but we had a partial view of the lake from our room.

Lovely Hotel Except for the Bed

This is a lovely, if slightly basic, small hotel in a great location a mere stroll from the historic town centre with it's multitude of restaurants and shops. The one big down side is that the bed (in our room at least) was exceptionally hard and not at all comfortable which did not make for the most relaxing holiday. Also, the hotel does not have on site parking. This is not a major problem as the hotel provides free parking, both in the old town and outside over the bridge but either car park is a few minutes walk from the hotel although Sirmione is such a beautiful old town the walk is very pleasant. All in all I would recommend this hotel if a hard bed isn't a problem.

I knew nothing of Sirmione on arrival. I was amazed at the setting and the unique location of this very nice hotel. I hope that I will be able to have this experience again, but the first time is the best. Get ready for a very special surprise.

difficult parking situation

The people who run the hotel are very nice. However, since you must drive thru the town which really does not permit any cars except those going to this hotel and some others at the end of the peninsula, you take the life of a lot of tourists in your hands when you go up to the hotel. If you try to return to the hotel between 2 and 7 on Sunday, it is not permitted. The parking is \"500 meters\" from the hotel which is about 2 blocks. Parking is in an abandoned hotel field.

We knew nothing about the area and chose Sirmione having read a guide book first. Hotel was small but very comfortable and staff were obliging and friendly. The room was very clean and comfortable and all you would expect for a 3 star establishment - the hotel is fairly new. Very convenient for lots of restuarants. Parking is about 400 metres away up the road. Sirmione is not easy to get in and out of through the throng of tourists and I am glad we were not trying to do so at the height of the season. Breakfast was adequate - there was always plenty of everything although bread could have been fresher. For the cost it was good value and I would recommend it as a budget option in what seems to be a fairly exclusive destination.

Very Pleasant for short breaks

This is a very pleasant small hotel ideally located in the heart of Sirmione old town. It has everything you need for a short stay but you may find that for a longer visit its facilities are limited. The rooms a clean, modern and comfortable as well as being a reasonable size. The rooms have all the things you would expect, air conditioning, a TV, mini bar, a safe and plenty of hanging space. Loved the bathroom, which had a semi wet room feel, but imagine that some may not like the floor getting wet (the bathmat that soon solves the problem). Lovely hard wood floors instead of the usual tiles. Found the staff helpful and keen to please.

Great value hotel for this unique location

This is a great place to stay in Sirmione, particularly if you are driving. Access to the pedestrianised area is only permitted if you are a resident or have a hotel reservation. The hotel had done its job and we had no problems getting entry and finding our parking spot near to the hotel. (You do check in and drop bags off at the hotel before driving about 400 metres to a permanent parking place). The rooms are finished to a high standard and are very comfortable.

Mavino Hotel, Sirmione...

Very nice modern build and decoration, BUT with the moderness of it all, the walls are paper thin (hence the lower score for comfort)...standard continental breakfast with views over Lake Garda...we got upgraded to a room with a balcony which was well worth it, especially as our first room was directly under the kitchen...very noisy at 7am!

Sirmione itself, while a very picturesque wee place, it's probably not somewhere to stay for more than two nights...and it's a bit 'Pleasantville' meets 'The Prisoner' but worth a visit for the castle and Grotte de Cattullo. Stay in Verona and make it a day trip. ;)

very modern, clean hotel with polite informative staff.......however something just not \"right\" no outdoor space or real facilities, no atmosphere. room was spotlessly clean and modern but not very comfortable, bed felt as though it was made from concrete, no clocks at all, silly little open shower cubicle that flooded the bathroom each time it was used.
car parking is provided in the car park of a closed hotel only a short distance away.
breakfast...............no, horrid coffee and a dull selection of meat, cheese and dry bread we only bothered once.
this is a nice place and makes a reasonable base but do not go if you want a place to relax its just to \"cold\"

Hotel Mavino - feeling like a VIP

During check-in the fluent speaking English clerk was really nice and gave us all the information we needed about parking around the hotel as well as introducing the room for us. The hotel has a unique view from the its windows and balconies and its special location inside the historical area of sirmione makes it a remarkable place to stay in. Our name appeared on the entrance points to the old city which was something we really enjoyed.

The Hotel Mavino in Sirmione - an excellent choice

The hotel was very well situated, a short walk from the centre of town, but in a quiet street with few pedestrians. Several good restaurants were close to hand and the enormous Roman Villa was only a twenty minute walk away, allbeit uphill !
Reception staff were always friendly and helpful, and gave good advice on restaurants and transport. The breakfast room was nicely situated on the top floor with views of the lake, and a well stocked buffet breakfast.
Sirmione itself was an ideal place to stay, with many restaurants and cafes to choose from, and regular boat services to all other resorts on Lake Garda. The castle and the Roman Villa were both well worth a visit, as were the Roman Villa mosaics in nearby Desenzano. A week was barely long enough to enjoy the delights of Lake Garda.

Excellent 3 star hotel in the historic centre of Sirmione. Clean, tidy rooms in a quiet area. Perfect location with shops and plenty restaurants a stone throw away. Very good value for money. Corteous and friendly staff. The parking is a bit far (400m) from the hotel, but hey, you will walk a lot anyway to visit.
Tips: if you go with a car, note that you can enter the traffic restricted area by mentioning that you have a reservation at the hotel.

The hotel is within the \"walls\" of the city and one needs a reservation to get a car inside the walls. The streets are very narrow and only one car can pass at a time. I think the web site should explain where it is. Once you are there, one does not need the car at all. Hotel is central to all the sights--historical, shopping, restaurants etc.

The manager of the hotel was very helpful and speaks very good English.

Well run, clean, terrific hotel. Parking was a distance away but secure. Location was convenient to town and beaches. Challenging drive through the streets town to get to hotel and parking. Stop at guard gate to enter - don't walk first as we did. Guard has all reservations on the \"island\" and will let you enter.

A great friendly little hotel

This is a fairly small hotel within the walls of Sirmione but what it lacks in size it more than makes up for in quality of service, cleanliness and hospitality. The buffet breakfast is served in a small dining room on the fifth floor with views over Lake Garda. The breakfast is of a really good quality with plenty of choice of fresh bread, meats, fruit, yoghurt and cereals etc. The staff are very helpful and more than willing to answer any queries and give useful tips. When I asked for more pillows they were delivered to my room immediately. We will definitely return to this lovely hotel.

Hotel is a small hotel on the spit's end out in the garda lake. A great location, parking and driving in the historic part of Sirmione is hard! A lovely place and all walkable from the hotel which has comfortable and clean rooms, a basic breakfast and very friendly and helpful staff. Would stay again for another visit to Garda.

위치가 성곽 안쪽이면서 적당히 안쪽이라 올드타운 구경하기 최적의 위치이고 자메이카 비치 가는 꼬마기차도 이 근처에요. 에어컨도 빵빵하고 발코니도 있어서 수영복 말리기도 좋았어요.
주차는 외부 주차장 주차 후 골프카트 같은 셔틀이 호텔 데려다 줌

Hadde superior rom - det var lite men med nydelig balkong og utsikt til Gardasjøen. Frokosten var ok. Beliggenhet i gamlebyen var flott! Fint med parkering utenfor bymur og shutterfly inn.

Hello,

we stayed in several accommodations on our trip around Lake Garda. Hotel Mavino was the only accommodation that we did not like:

We were first given due card for room 308 and then called back to give us room 302 as we had a short stay. Why?

After we noticed a strange smell in the bathroom after our first shower, we avoided the bathroom and all slept.

The next morning it stank in the whole room and we noticed that the waste water from the toilet ran from there into the shower. The shower curtain was marked brown as shown in the photos.

The advice to change the room at the beginning due to the one-day stay left us with a very negative aftertaste. We do not recommend this hotel. We only have positive things to say about all the other hotels we stay at.

We were therefore refunded a EUR 15 parking fee, which just seems ridiculous.

The breakfast takes place in the attic and is very simple.

From our point of view no recommendation for this hotel.

Das Personal war sehr freundlich und hat uns Tipps gegeben für unsere Ausflüge
Der Parkplatz ist außerhalb der Stadt, man wird mit einem shuttle zum hotel gebracht und am Ende des Aufenthalts wieder zurück zum Auto

Sen ligger parkering utan för hela området och man får åka golf bil in till hotellet men funkar

God 3* hotel midt i Sirmione

En fin 3-stjernet hotel i den historiske centrum, super sød og venlige personale, rent og pænt, god seng, rimelig sparsom indretning. Morgenmad er ikke en stor oplevelse, lille udvalg af retter. Hotel har ingen adgang til badebro selvom det kun se sådan ud på hotellets hjemmeside.
