Staff very friendly at check-in, spoke fluent English. Room was small (as expected for this part of Paris at this price point) but had everything I needed. Everything was clean and comfortable. Hotel breakfast for EUR15 was good, selection wasn't huge but had everything I wanted (including freshly squeezed orange juice) and croissants were delicious. Would definitely recommend, and would stay again.

Perfect family room to use as a base for our 4 day stay in Paris. If you like walking then this place is central to all main attractions: 15 mins to Louvre, 30 mins to Sacre Coeur, 45 mins to Eiffel Tower, 20 mins to Notre Dame. If not a fan of walking there is a metro station 2 mins from the hotel to get you around even quicker. Hotel faciltiies are adequate for a short city break, comfy beds, lovely shower and very good underground parking (at a price). Only negatives I could think would be that it would get hot in the summer in the rooms and if your neighbours are noisey, you can hear them very easily. When we stayed one of the guests had a hacking cough and you could hear every weeze and gasp.

Drilling noise from construction site nearby and woke us up early in the morning. There was no exhaust fan in the toilet. The room sound insulation was bad. We could hear clearly the neighbours walking and banging the doors. The room was very small so you barely got space to move around.
The room was very clean although some of the towels looked old and dirty. It is very close to most of the tourist attractions and popular restaurants.

My goodness I can’t remember who the lady was who checked me in but they made me feel like a quarter of a million euros. The shower and tub situation wasn’t well thought out. Deeeeeeeep tub with a quarter glass to keep the water from hitting the floor. I ended up cleaning after every shower I took. Bedding was mediocre, I saw a white stain on the couch as I was leaving. Thank goodness I didn’t sit on the couch. Good location! I might stay there again.

I'll upload photos in a google review since Orbitz doesn't offer the option. The hotel is massively underwhelming and their photos oversell it. It is dingy and my sheets weren't changed except maybe once during my week stay. The walls were filthy, paint was missing, bugs...I had a spider on my bed. The bathroom was so small, when I stepped back from the sink I was outside of the bathroom. One foot back. I'm 4'11 so that says something. When I leaned over to wash my face the sink was so small that more water went to the floor and my clothes than back in the sink...with me leaned over it.
The hotel requests you to leave your key at the desk whenever you leave. I've never been asked this before in ANY country. Here's the thing. It's an antiquated, dilapidated building so they have a physical key, not a fob or key card. I've never been asked to leave a physical key in Ireland, Ghana, Uruguay, or New Orleans. So this was definitely when my trip went from bad to piss poor.
I was badgered each day for my key. I continued to state I was uncomfortable not having a copy of a key to a room paid for and that my items were in. Two aggressive female desk clerks harangued me for the key. One in particular, ignorantly argued from her throne behind the hotel desk that every hotel in the world kept the key. I explained I traveled the world and never heard of this policy. She remained arrogant enough to argue my own country's policies with me. There are rats and mice around the buildings.

This was my second time staying here because I like the location. We arrived too early for check in and requested to be able to leave our suitcases so that we didn’t have to carry them around for 4 hours around Paris. The man at the desk was rather rude about this, but we said “Well, maybe it’s just a cultural difference.”
My biggest issue was that my very expensive Bose headphones went missing while staying here. I had them when we checked in, and after checking out was when I noticed that they were gone. When I sent the hotel a correspondence regarding this, I never heard anything back. So this was pretty infuriating…

Convenient location quiet and safe hotel

Even before you get here they send you an email asking you what you would like to do in Paris. They reply quickly to give you tips and directions based on your list.
Breakfast is self-service with croissants, scrambled eggs and sausages, as well as ham and cheese and fruit. There is fresh squeezed oranges and a coffee machine that has many choices.
The area around the hotel has many cafes and restaurants, even an Italian restaurant across the street. What is best is how quiet the area is at night with almost no car, bus or motorbike traffic.
The front desk staff is very friendly and helpful, especially Pierre. You can leave your mail with the front desk and they will give it to the postman.
There are two metro lines and many bus lines within 2
blocks of the hotel. Get a Navigo week pass for longer stays from the person in the metro booth - there are also machines. Navigo pass is good for busses as well as the metro.
This hotel is within walking distance (15-30 min) to the Old Opera house and even the Louvre (maybe 30-45min). Remember to look in every direction before crossing the street because of many scooters and bicycles going every which way. The major Avenue de’L’Opera is 2.5 blocks away, as is the Quatres de Septembre.

Great little central hotel

Tucked away in a little square, this hotel is in the middle of things with all the main tourist spots of Paris a short walk away.
The room was spotlessly clean; the bedlinen immaculate, whilst the bathroom had clearly been refurbished very recently and look very sparkly and new. The room was by the main staircase however, a set of double doors made it sound proof.
One thing to note is that the single was compact; the ensuite is a slipper-length away from the bed, but that wasn't an issue for a short stay.
The breakfast was a generous mixture of hot and cold buffet, with freshly-squeezed orange juice as a bonus. To top things off, all staff were welcoming, friendly and very helpful; I would happily stay here again.

I was on a family trip and didn’t expect much but just what’s right from a 3 star hotel that charged me almost 300 euros per night. after all I feel like it was pretty much on a 2-2.5 star level but definitely not 3. The bathrooms lock was broken, I asked on my first night the guy from the reception to fix it , he told me he will call someone to fix it right away. No one came!
When I arrived the room it was late night , I was surprised to see that all the coffee bags are decaff. I asked the reception to send regular coffee from now on. They said ok, from that moment we got only decaf’s instead of regular. I asked for a room with nice view and got a room with a wall infornt of all my windows…. I also said before twice that we’re arriving the hotel to celebrate my daughter’s birthday. I didn’t expect much, maybe a fruit bowl or a small wine bottle , they didn’t do anything…. I went on the morning to check the breakfast and it looked very poor so we ate everyday outside the hotel . Overall it wasn’t so bad but just not right for the amount we paid and for 3 stars level.

This hotel is located in good location, many restaurants around. Front desk people are very nice.
The cons are the room is way too small. The hallway is super tiny. We have been in Europe many times and don't expect large rooms. But this room is small, the bathroom is tiny and not good hair dryer. And the key is big and heavy. Every time we leave the room we need to leave the key to the front desk.
Breakfast is 15 Euro per person which has 1 meat and 1 cheese type, totally expected for European breakfast. We only had breakfast one time. Sorry, this is not what we expected.

The hotel is in a wonderful location. The single room is very small, but clean and comfortable. The shower was poorly designed. It was very small, elevated above the floor, and had a glass door that didn't shut all of the way. This meant that when you took a shower, water flooded the bathroom floor. I ended up using more towels than normal to try and keep the water at bay. Staff was excellent though, and apart from the shower the room was very cozy and affordable for such a great location.

Great location!!! However the room we had was very small for 2 twin beds, when we checked in it was dirty too. I felt dirty just standing in the room. When you leave the hotel, they ask you give them back the room key, which the room key is on a big tassel. When you come back, you just ask your your room key. They don’t even check your IDs to see if that’s your key. Not very safe at all. Someone else could come and ask for your room key, and they wound just give it to them. My overall stay here, I would not stay here again.

Booked the single room for my birthday week. I knew the room was small by the photos and they were accurate. The single bed is just 18” away from the glass bathroom door. I am a petite woman, and I could lay in bed and put my foot on the toilet- just to show how tight the space is.
The room was newly decorated, with clean, crisp sheets and towels.
The only negative to the small room was lack of storage space.
There is a small wardrobe to hang clothes, but no drawers. Also no place to put your cosmetics or toiletries in the bathroom. There is a tall shelf over the toilet to put things, but I feared them falling in the toilet. It desperately needs a shelf under the mirror, next to the bed and over the desk. And no place to put your soap, shampoo in the shower, other than the floor.
The front desk staff was very friendly and accommodating. They helped to make me dinner and concert reservations.
The hotel lobby could use a bit of sprucing up- just get rid of the old, broken Knick-knacks, but keep the cute Eiffel tower collection.

The hotel location is great. It is in a residential area, between 2 big metro stations, with restaurants, and bistros all around.
A Monoprix is close by, and blocks from the louvre.
Overall for the price, a great value.
Just need to add a few shelves to make it better.

Friendly 3 Star hotel in a perfect Paris location

The hotel is a typical small Paris hotel, small room, small bathroom, little room to move freely around but clean, tidy with in-room safe. The breakfast is adequate with a choice of two breakfast packages, coffee and one croissant for 5 Euros or a limited buffet breakfast for 15 Euros. There is a small lounge area with a PC to access internet, a printer and scanner. The greatest asset of the hotel is its staff, they are extremely helpful and friendly. A big thank you to Charles at the reception desk who was relaxed, friendly and helpful to all guests. We stayed in peak season and found the rate high but we left very satisfied with the property. We would have no hesitation to return to the Hotel Ascot Opera when next we visit Paris.

Verified traveler

The hotel is in the quiet part of district 2, not too far from the main road and district 1, and i consider this hotel as my second best hotel in Paris out of 6 hotels that i have stayed at. The strange thing to see is the room key is attached to a heavy keychain, and i was told not to bring the key out of the hotel and must leave it at the front desk every time i am stepping out of the hotel.
Room was clean, although the furniture like wardrobe is old, but thats alright as i only stayed for 6 nights alone. The room was considered decent size, and i was at the room 55 which is considered high floor but the people on the streets could be a bit noisy at times even late night.
The elevator is old, you will not find this in any modern hotel, but thats the nice touch of having an aged hotel with its original elevator door in the quiet side of Paris.
The price of my hotel stay for 6 nights was ok, although i think i could get a better price if i chose the pay now instead of pay later.
The people at the front desk are courteous, cleaner was also kind, i would choose this hotel again if i have to visit Paris again in the future.

Great location, super staff - definitely recommend

Couldnt get a better location next to Opera and on the metro. The Roissybus from airport stops at Opera. Plenty restaurants. Walk to Lourve (1.5km) . The hotel employees are exceptional. Super friendly. very knowledgeable, spoke English and really couldn't do enough for you. Hotel is spotlessly clean. Like all hotels rooms in Paris, on slightly smaller size. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.
