Huahine is a beautiful island, much quieter and less developed than Moorea or Bora Bora. There are only two properties on Huahine in this category - the other one is Le Mahana. Both are excellent.

Got there and no one was at the front desk. Asked someone from the restaurant who was smoking at the front entrance on their phone, and she said that maybe they were on break and we would have to wait. No let me check on that for you or offer to help. Just went back to talking on her phone. Had to wait for about 30 minutes to check in. I understand people taking breaks, but normally someone else would relieve that person to avoid someone waiting to check in. Check in starts at 2pm. Why would someone go on break at 4pm. Seems like bad timing. Restaurant was ok. Very quiet place. Although it said that I was purchasing the last room there seemed to be only 8 couples staying on the resort. For $500 a night I expected better.

Limited hotel options on Huahine, this place has a lovely staff, but unfortunately the room was quiet run down, felt unclean and was possibly the worst bed and pillow I’ve slept on. With some updates and cleaning I think this place can be great.

Such a caring and attentive staff at this property. It was a tranquil little oasis in the heart of Huahine that we just adored. Try to opt for one of the rooms with a private plunge pool, the perfect little treat after a swim at the private beach. There’s also a car rental place a few steps from the property or, you can opt for a taxi that arrives in mere minutes to take you around the rest of the island.

I loved that the bungalows were inspired by the Lapita people and culture. The beach is beautiful. The service was top notch. The reception team went above and beyond to make sure we were satisfied during our stay. Not only was it close to the airport, but it was just a short walk to the main area of Fare where we could go to the market. We also rented an emoke (half golf cart/half jeep) for a day which was a fun way to see and explore Hauhine Nui and Huahine Iti.

UNHEALTHY CONDITIONS

Stayed in room 301. The stench of mold and water running down the ceiling (see picture) was a smell I can’t describe (like cat pee and mold). Smell is on all of our clothes and husband breathing machine still smells. It is VERY UNHEALTHY. Pool was never cleaned and cotton ??? Sat there for 6 days at bottom of pool. When we checked out we were charged for additional taxes when we already paid over $300 for taxes on the front side. Manager, (Katia), would not come out from behind the wall to explain, or talk to us after we asked several times to talk to a manager. When we went to leave, they would not let us get into a taxi without paying the additional fees that were already paid once. And held a taxi hostage. We even got tax twice and a night we did not even spend there because our flight was canceled (Which hotel would not refund that night). Thankful that we used Hotels.com as they did fight for us and help us out.

It was a wonderful stay of 3 nights. Unfortunately 1 day was unbelievable rain all day where our bathroom leaked and the toilet clogged but the staff were very helpful. It is a beautiful place and we would highly recommend it.

Not super-luxury, but nice.

Pros:
- Gorgeous property, looks exactly like the photos.
- Friendly staff.
- Much less sterile and touristy than comparable waterfront resort properties. Good for a relaxing stay on the beach.

Cons:
- Air conditioning was woefully inadequate. Room never cooled or dried, and indoor temperature was significantly warmer than outside during the heat of the day.
- Restaurant was host to several aggressive stray cats which jumped onto the tables to steal food.
- Food was good but not great; fortunately it was also priced reasonably to suit.

The hotel has a great location. Easy to get to town and a great beach and pool. The staff is not very helpful. Never showed up to pick us up at the airport and constantly asked us to pay for things, in some cases that we didn't purchase. When we asked for someone to look at the broken latch on the sliding windows we were told wait until tomorrow. When we tried to order a burger at the restaurant we were told it was only available if you ordered room service. Overall, not a great experience.

Huahine, just beautiful

We enjoyed our stay here, located on beachfront property with a big pool just off the beach! The accommodations were quite nice, up to date and good sized. The hut had AC and private deck. 10 minute walk by beach to town and 15 minutes by taking the road at night.

Overall a nice hotel, would stay again.

Nice, unique, beautiful facility. People were friendly, but didn't communicate that at needed to arrange transportation from the airport thru them (no taxis there), which ended up being $60 round trip. Rooms were nice, although the shower head wasn't working quite right. Bed and and especially pillows were way too firm, and roosters apparently think the sun comes up at 2am...? Great pool and beach. Restaurant food was ok, But maybe better to translate from French since it doesn't seem like a complete translation to English (had a dish full of mushrooms, which I hate and wasn't translated as an ingredient in English). Desserts were excellent. Cocktails were decent. For lunch, definitely check out Izzy's across the street for an incredible Izzy's burger and a beer. Overall I would stay here again, but wish they'd make a few small improvements.

Very interesting Tahitian village style hotel. Room was spacious. This was the best hotel in Huahine to our knowledge.
Probably not suitable for family with teenagers or older children to share one unit, as shower had no door, the bathroom was wide open to the main sleeping area, and there was a huge mirror in the center of the bathroom.

Overall, the hotel is very decent and of relatively high standard. It’s comfortable with good service. I would like to also commend on the servitude of staff at restaurants - extremely welcoming and good. The quality of the food at the restaurant is also of good quality compared to the other restaurants/eateries nearby. The pool has an awesome view of the beach too. Though the room has a weird smell. And you get wifi access in the room and lobby - but can’t complain much as the Wifi speed is decent.

Maitai Lupita a place for tranquility!!!

Maitai Lupita was fantastic. They had a very friendly staff. The bungalows were very spacious. They were extremely accommodating and all were so very nice. Although they beach area wasn't the best, you can rent a bike, scooter, four wheeler or car and drive the island. I highly recommend it. It was the most beautiful tour we took ourselves. The island is clean and well manicured. Breath taking views. Maitai Lupita also gave us great recommendations on where to stop. They were amazing!
