We dined at Piko for dinner twice. The food was okay, but could be better. I think in 2026 it’s time to introduce a dedicated mocktail menu, rather than asking folks to just pick an alcohol cocktail and do the math on wanting to remove the spirits and see what happens. The room was fine, I appreciated all the bed side plug in options. The pool was excellent :)

The front desk persons in the nigh shift are not very nice. When I asked the reason why my room wasn’t being cleared up for the all day and when it will be cleared up. The front desk person told me the housekeeper has their own schedule and he didn’t know when the housekeeper will go to clean the room. That’s terrible.

My room was always cleaned well and was accommodating to my 6 month old baby. The pool was nice and well kept. The only small complaint could be that the customer service was hit or miss on the friendliness. All the guys at the valet were nice and fast. If you want a drink at the pool you’re gonna go up to the bar and get it yourself. Food at the hotel was so so. Better to eat off property. Other than that it was a great hotel stay.

We enjoyed our stay here. My son loved the pool with the beach entry and water slide. We enjoyed walking the trails and garden. I loved the morning yoga. Our room was nice, clean and comfortable. The beds were very comfortable.

Overall happy! Fantastic location and oceanfront views. Comfortable beds and sheets and immaculately clean room which is priority to me. Shower and bath tube was comfortable and pretty. Appreciated the mini fridge and microwave in laundry room. Washer and dryer were easy to use and detergent was available.

Enjoyed the pool and adult side was a plus. Pool side sofas looked nice but worn (maybe dirty) so skipped.

Breakfast choices at Piko were tasty and staff at Piko were a joy. I skipped the breakfast buffett since limited fruit options. Loved the bloody mary with ocean vodka and the Monte Cristo.

Manta tours meet in parking lot so nice convenience. Loved the manta ray pictures and history by Piko.

Check - in could improve. Didn't give good directions to room. No carts or assistance to room offered and took us a while to find the room. Also mutliple signs at checkin desk states hold on bank cards and when I asked staff for details they did not seem familiar with details at first until I asked for clarity a second time.

Room down the hall from me had plastic taped to ground all the way into the hall - looked dirty and unwelcoming.

Ocean outlook areas above adult pool on 3rd and 4th floor could be improved be because the building roof below was not pretty (think its a bar roof) - consider light landscaping there.

Second time staying here and we love how relaxing and not-busy this resort is. Unfortunately, this time there were some issues that could’ve been and should’ve been handled. We had 2 rooms and both didn’t have any soap for bathroom sink provided. We had to call housekeeping to get some so that we could wash our hands after using the bathroom and it took over and hour and 2 calls to get it. We found cockroaches in a couple of areas (the pool and outside our room) and when we called to have someone take care of it, it took over 4 hours and more calls to the front desk. On top of that, the Holoholo store on the property, had THE MOST rude worker. She was in the coffee bar area and every time we went, she was so clearly irritated to have to help anyone. She was equally rude to everyone I saw her come in contact with so I know it wasn’t just toward us. Spoke to the hotel manager, Sally, who was aware and advised about the situation. She was very apologetic but this store isn’t actually associated with the resort.
Whatever you do, don’t eat breakfast at the Piko restaurant in the resort. Beyond expensive and none of us enjoyed the food! Lunch bar is great for food however!

Check-in took a very long time every time because the front desk was always crowded, but I still tipped. Service at both restaurants was very slow, and the food was just average. There was also an older cashier at the Holoholo store who seemed very dismissive. We wanted to charge items to the room, but she worked very slowly and insisted that we use a credit card instead. We encountered her several times, and it was the same experience every time.The hotel has best view in Kona.Overall, it is worth to stay at least 5days.

I have been here once before. It’s a lovely property and the staff is great. What is unfortunate is that they changed their food/coffee. They used to have a little coffee bar where you were able to get great drinks such as matcha and they had a great restaurant. They have changed the restaurant and the food is not as great. Also very overpriced for the quality of food you’re getting. It’s better to go off property for food. They did great renovations but we had to call someone to come clean the vent in our bathroom because chunks of debris were falling from it. The manta deck is still under renovation so there was no place to view the manta rays and the light they shine in the water wasn’t operating. I’m sure that won’t be a forever thing though.

We had a wonderful stay and would stay here again. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. The valet and cleaning crew were amazing! We upgraded to get access to the voyager 47 club. It was very convenient for our family and had a great experience each time as well. I do recommend it but ask them for clarification on the pricing and extra fees because the fees have fees and I was not aware of that until we got home. Regardless it was a great comfortable stay with so many amenities. It was walking distance to all the water activities that we did such as the day snorkeling and night manta ray snorkeling. Definitely recommend trying that! We also attended the luao here which the food was amazing! The show and entertainment was great too! Worth booking here!

Super worth it! Clean room. Coffee shop is great. Restaurant was good but not many options. Staff was really nice. Property was beautiful. The store and the staff in that store were amazing.
The only con was no regulating pool area so Saturday night was super busy with young adults and was very loud until the pool closed. We had a room right above the pool and even with the door shut it was so loud. We couldn’t even fit in either hot tub because it was overrun with young adults who were obviously not guests at all.
Other than that, I’d definitely recommend this resort.

Was terrible communication tried to get ahold of them to switch my reservation to correct island. No one got back to me. They still charged me for the stay. Terrible customer service. Would not recommend outrigger. Sheraton on Kauai was way better. Cleaner, amenities were nice. Would highly suggest the Sheraton over any outrigger. They put a bad taste in my mouth will never reserve with them again couldn’t even assist me in switching a reservation to one of their other properties. As well the property on Kauai had flood damage. My room smelled like mold and mildew. The floor was soaked. Terrible experience.

Just be aware that this hotel during our stay had 1 expensive restaurant. Nothing within walking distance. Uber was great. They have a shop that sells sandwiches,coffee bar. They are just building a dukes, the adult pool was separate from family pool which was excellent. We are considering planning a family reunion at this hotel. We loved the vibe.

The property was spotless, I was very impressed. The food was good, the waiters/waitresses were hospitable. Unfortunately, I was charged twice for my meal. It charged to my room and my debit card (I explained I wanted my debit card charged not the card on file for the room). I had to get one of the charges canceled. I was given a resort gift card but when I tried using it, I was told I could not. I have no idea how I’ll be able to use it since it was supposed to be for outrigger locations. Lastly there was a leak in the wall which we went to the registration desk to inform them. The young lady never sent anyone to look. After two hours we called maintenance, the gentleman that answered sent someone. They said we would need to be relocated. They upgraded the room to a suite for our troubles. I truly appreciated that. The pools were wonderful, they even had an adult only side. The views on the property were beautiful. Overall, my mom and I enjoyed the trip, it was quite relaxing.

Would be nice to have access to a computer. Lots of parking space. Only negative, check in is slow, probably under staff. Overall our stay was nice.

Unfortunately the infinity pool and the manta viewing decks were closed for construction, but I can only imagine once those are complete this would be one of the nicest resorts on the island. Service was too notch and the grounds were immaculate. The waterslide and family pool were also amazing. The rock/sand in the pool is a nice touch

We just had a amazing vacation at the property. It is one of the best property for your budget. We choose to upgrade the oceanfront room with meal and valet parking. You must do it if you want to enjoy it most. Only one thing turn me down was the walls between rooms are not good enough. I could hear what other room said when they speak big at night. Other than that it was one of my best place to stay.

Overall it’s a nice hotel, only complaint really is we booked a couples massage in the “spa” only to find out the spa is under construction and they just had massage tables set up in a hotel room which we weren’t aware of. We walked around lost for about 15 minutes looking for the spa and even the front desk people couldn’t tell us where it was just that it was in a room. We finally found where to go but we’re super late to our massage so just less time for us. Better communication would have been appreciated.

We booked this location due to its proximity to the various snorkel experience offices (e.g., Sea Quest). Being able to walk to the dock (5~10 min) was great given lack of parking near the dock right before Manta ray night snorkel experience. Being able to walk back to the hotel after being in the water was great as well.

Hotel itself had amazing kids pool and separate adult pool.

Overall, I will stay here again if I come back to Kona.

Only minor points:
Night time Manta viewing terrace was under construction.
Pico breakfast buffet could serve better variety for $37 per person.

We enjoyed our stay. We stayed for a week. We did not rent a car and were fine without one. We could walk to a nearby plaza where there were restaurants and a grocery store. We took two snorkeling tours that departed right off hotel property. We enjoyed Tuesday food truck night and the Farmers Market. The pool was nice and the kids liked the slide. Some renovations occurring. The game room was closed. There is a bus from the plaza that takes you into old Kona Town where there is night life and lots of stores and restaurants. This hotel worked out well for us. On checkout day we didn’t fly out until late evening and they stored our luggage so we could enjoy an additional day in the area.

Overall, we had a nice stay and would stay there again, assuming the price doesn't rise any further. NOTE: We had $120 per day added to our bill for resort fee and LOTS of taxes. Stayed in an oceanfront club room. Room was spacious, renovated fairly recently, clean, and had a great view. The room, as did the whole resort, showed its age with the concrete walls and lanai. The plumbing was noisy when the shower was on in the room above.

Check-in was smooth despite a system issue, and I didn’t have to wait long. However, my room had a very strong sewage smell. I initially thought the smell would go away, but it didn’t. I also noticed the carpet was wet. At first, I figured they might have just cleaned the carpets, but considering the severe odor, that clearly wasn't the case. It became obvious the room had suffered some sort of water damage. Given this condition, it’s highly likely the hotel management was already aware of the issue. I couldn't help but feel they shouldn't have assigned or sold this compromised room in the first place. I contacted the front desk, and while they responded quickly and the room change was handled efficiently, the initial experience was quite unpleasant. Aside from that, the facilities were acceptable considering the building’s age.

The surrounding area was very beautiful. The hotel itself was under some renovation, which I understood Will booking. I was not aware that they would close the coffee bar. The second day we were there, which was unfortunate. I did appreciate that the store had some grab and go meals I do wish, however there was more access to a variety of foods, especially for those with allergies or dietary restrictions. They may find the area limiting upon arrival at the hotel given its location, we immediately decided to head back to the airport to rent a car as we realized it would be un feasible to navigate the island the way we wanted to without one the hotel does, however have the ability to arrange tours if that is something you wish to partake in instead of self navigating . The pool facilities were very clean and well maintained however, there was lots of area on the property where amenities could be placed. Those locations were unfortunately being utilized for storage during their renovation.

Overall great stay. Recently renovated rooms, amazing ocean views, and peaceful location away from the more touristy area of Kailua-Kona. Breakfast was tasty at their Piko restaurant. We didn't have a chance to get dinner there during our short stay, but the menu looked good. Keauhou shopping center is about 6 minutes away, so if you need to run to the store, you don't have to go far. There is also a small store on site at the hotel with some clothes and snacks. There are also some nice walking paths on the hotel property with some beautiful landscaping.

The front desk overcharged me when checking out and was super rude when sorting it out. I confirmed every single expense and credit one by one, did the exact calculation right in front of the lady, and the lady kept saying my calculation was wrong. Finally, someone else came to help and sorted it out.
NO APOLOGIES at all the entire process. She made me feel it was my mistake not theirs. Front desk assistant should at least graduate from elementary school to do simple math.
The elevator close to parking lot was very stinky. Room was with carpet so smelt wet during rainy weather.
Will never come back again to this property! So disappointing.

Great property, beautiful pool, areas of the complex were empty. - Just hope they do not put you next to an area that is under construction. Checked in for three nights. Literally next to construction happening between 9 and 5 am. Not just banging, but pretty much non-stop hammer drilling the entire day. When asked for a chance to move, was told nothing is available. Why would you put a customer literally one floor above the work area? No discount offered no other sorry offered - full price. If it was not prepaid i would have left.

The ocean was visible from my room which was the best part of the room. The toilet creaked and the seat would slide off. The tub needs to be redone. During the daytime I was inside the room there was slow construction going on for the new restaurant. My stay was not relaxing because of the constant noise. Apparently this hotel has been under construction for years so this is a constant issue if you want daytime quiet. The food options here are lacking and over priced. Once Dukes opens it’ll be an improvement. Kids running around the slide area without parental supervision. I got food poisoning from the main restaurant here my first night. The stores here are double the cost of what you can get at the local market or ABC store. That’s a big convenience fee. I unfortunately met a few unfriendly staff. There is no access to the beach from this hotel. I would not recommend staying here.

The pools were very big and nice, but that is because there are no useable beaches any where close to here. The poolside restaurant is nice and affordable, however, it gets really busy, because it is the only reasonably priced option available. The Pico restaurant is the only other option, and it is severely over priced for what you get, and thus why it was never very busy. There are no other dining options within walking distance (within 1 mile). You need a car or other transportation to get anywhere. Since we were there only 3 days, no regular room cleaning, even though we could have requested it if needed. The room was recently renovated nicely, but walls and windows are paper thin, and had loud neighbors the first night (teenage kids)

Beautiful view of the ocean from our room. Room was large and perfect for our family of five. Voyager 47 lounge access was so helpful and convenient for our family. Clean room and property. Kids enjoyed the pool and water slide.

Wonderful ocean view room and facility layout. If felt very exotic. The only improvement I could ask for is a bed higher than just below my knees and overly soft. But then, I’m in my 70’s, so everything is subjective.

We really enjoyed our stay. The staff is amazing. Aunt Pua at the Voyager 47 Club is the sweetest hostess ever. Great views of the ocean and bay. We did have an issue with no hot water and they resolved the issue promptly. We’ll be staying here again. Thank you for all great service and memories

The only thing I truly liked about the Outrigger was the view from the room — it was beautiful. Unfortunately, everything else about the stay was disappointing. The patio outside the room had hair all over it, which made it feel like it hadn’t been properly cleaned. On top of that, there was construction happening directly below our room that started around 8 AM and woke us up. It completely ruined the relaxing atmosphere you expect when staying in Hawaii. Overall, not the experience we were hoping for.

Room was adequate. Balcony furniture wasn’t clean, bathtub was a bit worn, didn’t have backup on facial tissues or enough coffee and tea. Grounds were beautiful and well kept. But the main issue was at the overpriced breakfast, my husband was told he could not have a refresh on his coffee without paying for another cup. Wanted to charge $10 a day to use a microwave. Parking our $100 per day rental car was $30 a day! Looks like Hawaii is unaffordable for most.
