Had a great stay at the Central Plaza Hotel. The location was perfect for exploring the city and getting our train to Zermatt. For an old hotel, it is has been remodeled nicely and the rooms are comfortable.

The staff was very nice and always helpful. The brunch in the restaurant was great (order the fresh omlettes).

If you can, avoid the first floor. I did pay more to get a 2 bed room with a little more room, but they put us in a room with no view; the awning out the window masked the outside.

The staff were gracious enough to upgrade me to a room with a balcony - which made the stay all so memorable. The location is perfect - 5min walk from the train station, near Old Town and the main city centre. The room may be a little small but suited me as a solo traveller.

The public areas of the hotel were good 4*, but that's where you are still spending. The Classic bedroom was average 3*, no bathrobes, mineral water only for the first night, noisy wobbly sliding glass door to the bathroom offering little privacy, duvet no bigger than the width of the bed and no low level night light if you need to go to the bathroom without disturbing your partner. Main reason for booking this hotel was proximity to the train station which is only 5 minutes away.

The staff was incredibly helpful. As foreigners, we asked a lot of questions of the front desk personnel. They thoroughly answered our questions and made sure we understood.

The room was clean and comfortable, although the layout was a bit strange due to the room being in a corner of the hotel. I would suggest you request a room that isn’t in one of the corners.

The hotel is centrally located within walking distance of the main train station. We had several suitcases that we walked back and forth with no issues. The location of the hotel is also good if your trip involves visiting Christmas markets.

The hotel is great however the staff would benefit from additional training in customer service particularly in comprehending English more clearer.

We encountered a disappointing situation when booking an excursion through the hotel. Despite receiving confirmation from both the front desk and the manager that the activity would operate as scheduled, it was later canceled due to inclement weather. When we raised the issue, we were told we had misunderstood and were refused a reimbursement.

This response was unacceptable and disheartening especially since we had read similar negative experiences in previous reviews but chose to give the hotel a chance. There was a clear lack of accountability which was very disappointing given our initial expectations.

Switzerland is a beautiful country so it was unfortunate that we encountered such a situation for the first time given we’re frequent travelers.

The room we had was carved up from the store below and it felt as you were in the center of an intersection. Cars and trains were running virtually outside the window. We called Expedia trying to change the room to no avail. We discovered a lot of nicer hotels with lower star rating in the immediate area.

The renovations to this property are tremendous - wonderful set of improvements for a well situated, higher end experience in Santa Monica for a correctly priced hotel. Valet service is top notch- also especially nice are the new jacuzzi and downstairs food convenience~ and of course the restaurant and bar upstairs remain distinct city assets. Well done-

Great hotel, beware of the ongoing construction!

The hotel is located close to the train station and the area is very walkable. Rooms are in excellent condition, beds are very comfortable and the hotel has a great bar/restaurant. I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars because there is ongoing construction facing the hotel making it impossible to sleep longer than 8 and to stay in the room during the day. That’s not what I expected for the price I paid.

My husband and I needed a nice place to stay near the main train station in Zurich. We were spending one night in Zurich before leaving by airplane the next morning. The Central Plaza Hotel is just an easy10 minute walk from the train station. It is a historic hotel with completely updated, modern interiors and located on the edge of the olde town area of Zurich. Our room was small but immaculately clean. We easily walked to riverside cafes and there is a good assortment of nice restaurants in the olde town area. We enjoyed live music in the Central Plaza Hotel lounge in the evening. The staff were friendly and helpful and spoke English very well. We were very happy with our stay and would stay there again if we were in the area.
