Ray Caye Private Island Resort was an absolute dream — the perfect getaway with my husband. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel so welcomed and cared for. Every detail was thoughtful and seamless. The island itself is breathtaking, peaceful, and truly feels like a private slice of paradise. The food was incredible — every meal was fresh and delicious — and the cocktails were just as amazing. We left feeling relaxed, refreshed, and already planning our return. If you’re looking for a romantic, unforgettable escape, this is it.

Our first visit here and we will definitely be back!!! The staff, the room ( with an amazing view ) The food, the massage!!! absolutely everything exceeded our expectations. The staff above all else though, they truly make you feel like family while you're there. Absolutely loved it and can't think of one thing I'd change about it. Bonnie

Highly recommend! Hotels closer to the reef might not be as luxurious and comfortable; Hotels more luxurious won't be has as much marine life or as good for snorkel. This is def the best of both.
Room as clean and beautiful as the photos show.
We saw more varieties of fish snorkeling around the dock than going out for a snorkel tour. The Hol Chan marine reserve had better spot for snorkeling than the one near the island, so you can take tours somewhere else and just enjoy your time around the island while you are there.
Night snorkel is unique and awesome there, must try.
Foods were always good! Very good portions too! You don't need the meal plan at all, just the a la carte will be best value!
Staffs were all awesome. If you are up for interaction, they are all your friends.
Front desk staff John and Floret are knowledgeable and friendly. John answered so many of my curious questions about the resort! Noe is our favorite at the restaurant. He has a romantic love story if you are lucky enough to hear him share about it 😆. Captain William will tell you about celebrity's fancy private island; Snorkel guide the \"Dude\" takes good care of you and is funny; And many other staff, Raquel, Jose, Morris, Jr, Rasta... all had great vibes. I've stayed at resort with nice staffs before too but this one REALLY made a difference. The human connection actually is one of things I enjoyed most there! Luxurious, private, good food, good company, snorkel right off the shore, it has it all

Ray Caye Island Resort was a little slice of heaven for us! My husband and I went for our 30th anniversary and stayed in the honeymoon suite l, which I would highly recommend for its privacy and amazing view. We had our own private splash pool, and we were steps away from reclining by the ocean. The staff went above and beyond to take care of us during our stay. The drinks and food were delish! The excursions were awesome! The best snorkeling I have ever experienced, and the fishing was so fun, including catching a record size barracuda! We could socialize as much as we wanted but also have alone time. This was definitely a five-star experience and worth every penny! Next time we're bringing friends and family!

Without a doubt the best vacation we’ve ever had. 8 days in paradise with the friendliest staff, and amazing food. We’re already planning our return next summer. Shout out to Franklin, JR and the rest of the crew! Brian was a great snorkeling guide, Marion took us on the Monkey River cruise, and we went sailing to Fisherman’s Island with Rasta. An unforgettable trip!

Ray caye was amazing, we spent a wonderful week there.it was the slow season and they upgraded us to the best house on the property. The whole time on the island we were one of at most three couples and for thee days the only couple. We were treated so special. The staff was awesome and we will definitely be going back.

If you are looking to completely escape and unplug, then this resort island is your destination of choice.

The staff look after you in a professional yet non-suffocating way, allowing you to truly relax and enjoy the island.

The island is fully self sufficient and incredibly eco-friendly. Well laid out, with top amenities.

Volleyball is especially entertaining in the evenings with members of the staff.

The restaurant is incredible and run by Carlos, their head chef. I have eaten all over the world and the nature of my job has me exposed to some top class cuisine. It is no understatement for me to recommend every meal that the restaurant provided during my stay. I did not have a single bad bite to eat during all of my dining experiences in the week. The pork belly was especially exquisite as a meal with it being Michelin Star in its presentation, quality and taste notes.

Antonio, Melvin, Carlos, Noas, Juan, and Pablo did an excellent job looking after all of the guests in their roles as servers, guest services, and chef (Carlos...).

I don't often take the time to write as extensive or as glowing a review as I have here, but I feel that this life experience warrants my time and a review worthy of the unique experience that is Ray Caye.

May the staff and the island continue to prosper and excel. The staff esprit de corps and the quality of the product delivered are truly deserving of my best wishes. I look forward to returning again in the near future.

Stunning place to Holiday! Fantastic staff!

We had such a lovely time at Hatchet Cay Island Resort. The staff were absolutely lovely with a special shout out for the restaurant staff and Dasha, the manager who made our vacation time there so special and marvelous! We loved going to the South Pier everyday and just getting into the water and snorkel and every night we would go back there after dinner with drink in hand and be hypnotized by the eagle rays gliding in and out of the purple lights. We went to the Silk Cays and bought fish from the fisherman there, then brought it back to the kitchen. The AMAZING chef there cooked it up for us and wow! Was it delicious! However I must also mention the lamb chops we had also which were incredibly delicious! What a joy to eat there! Also, at the Silk Cays, we had a superb time snorkeling with the big sting rays, nurse sharks and turtles as they circled around the fishing boat. Really great and it is only five minutes away from the resort! you can see them from the pier.
We would most definitely go back. We loved our room which had a king size bed, huge balcony with plants and trees at its edge and the sea peeping out of the leaves. What else I liked is that we had neighbors but the rooms were very solid so it was quiet. We would sit there and watch the birds come and go. We became so incredibly relaxed on the island. Can't to go again when the whale sharks are there at full moon and go to Laughing Bird Cay for snorkeling. Thank you for making our stay so great!

Great location, poor restaurant, too expensive

Location is phenomenal: bungalows are 10m away from the water, snorkeling with coral and plenty of fish is readily available and wonderful. However, the overall experience was pretty mediocre, in particular considering the cost. For example:
- Pricing is opaque: Make sure you understand that the boat transfer is USD 400 (per couple). Some activities are included in the room rate (snorkel gear, kayaks, SUPs), others are not (diving, snorkel trips to surrounding cayes). Generally sensed an air of awkwardness around pricing: had to explicitly ask for cost of activities, menu items, etc.
- Little control over boat transfer timing, may have to leave at 7am if unlucky.
- Waterfront bungalows are duplexes. The interior walls and door are very thin, ours (#4) had some form of foundation issue so that we were woken up by our neighbours' steps shaking our floor&furniture.
- The restaurant is bad and expensive. Dinner mains are 25-35 USD, the quality is poor. Instead of serving fresh local ingredients (fish?), they serve a poorly executed rendition of mediterranean cuisine. We tried chicken, steak, lamb, fish, soup, salad; none exceeded middle-of-nowhere diner quality. Ingredients were not fresh. Service was awkward and slow, waited 1.5h for 2 mains. Ordered Snapper, received chewy and tasteless Grouper; were not informed of the change. All of our $5 meals in rural towns were better.
- Staff was regularly absent (restaurant, dive shop), seemed bored&complacent.

Beautiful stay

Incredible place I highly recommend! Beautiful island with snorkelling, sailing, fishing and kayaking- so much to do and come back to a delicious meal at the restaurant. Friendly staff who are very helpful! I will definitely return!!

Wonderful resort on the reef

The location on stunning coral reefs and amazing staff make this resort special, however the cost of food, drink and boat transfers makes this a very costly experience. Expensive but well worth it.

Beautiful Island

Fantastic snorkeling. Sea turtles, stingrays, and sharks. Excellent staff. Very comfortable room overlooking the Caribbean. Fun watching the pelicans diving to catch fish. Great for families and those looking for adventure. Our family stayed for 3 nights. Grandma had a great time too.

Séjour paradisiaque ! Ray Caye est vraiment le paradis sur terre. Notre chambre avait vue sur mer, les pieds dans l’eau, c’était superbe. Tout été très propre et bien entretenu : la chambre, la salle de bain, le restaurant, les sanitaires publics et l’île en elle même. Le personnel est très aimable, accueillant et a toujours un mot gentil. Le restaurant sert des plats excellents qui changent tous les soirs. Des canoës et des paddle board sont mis à disposition des clients. Faire le tour de l’île en paddle est juste magique !
Je note 10/10 en tout point de vue.
