Lovely spot and excellent understated service

We were held up on our journey to the hotel and although we only arrived an hour late the reception was closed and there was absolutely no member of staff to give us our room key. No messages were left for us. We tried to ring on the hotel phone number we had and the calls just went through to an answerphone that they were unavailable. After trying to make contact with the hotel for half an hour we drove off and found another hotel.
We really cannot recommend this hotel, and do not expect to get charged.

Lovely hotel on canal path and cycle route
En-route to a channel port. Lovely simple hotel, superb diner. Found a canal path not 50m from the hotel which made for a great early morning cycle ride into the nearby town before breakfast.. Nice simple hotel, much bigger than it looks as there are some more modern building that are not shown, we enjoyed our stay.

What an amazing place. Calm, quiet, and french air are the top things that come to mind. The rooms were clean, the food was delicious. I only wish we had time to walk by the river or try out the beautiful pool. We'll be coming back here soon.

We chose this beautiful looking hotel in the country for peaceful one night gettaway from our appartment in noisy Paris. Our room (room 8) was straight off the mezzanine level above the lobby. Although nicely appointed (the bathroom is in need of a makeover) the room was hot and very noisy. We could hear everything going on in the lobby, kitchen and restaurant plus the slamming of van doors as deliveries were made in the early hours of the morning. On top of that, every time the phone rang at reception, it woke us up. As a result, we \"slept\" late and didn't make use of any of the hotel facilities.
The staff were not overly friendly or accommodating and the service in the restaurant was extremely slow and abrupt (our poor French was probably a contributing factor).

A Good Overnight stay for driving throuigh France
Hotel was very good in all aspects except the slow service we received in the restaurant - nearly an hour to wait for the desert course - probably due to a private wedding in another part of hotel. The restaurant evening half board menu was very good but I do not like the modern French way of a tray at breakfast and not a proper laid table!

Great hotel, staff helpful, reception excellent, manager he couldn't do enough for us. Food was good if a bit pricey and there was nowhere else to go as the hotels 'quiet'. Restaurant service was a bit slow, we gave up on coffee and desert as we had waited over an hour. The hotel wasn't busy, just waiting on staff seemed either bored or disorganised.

The shower was cold even though did run the water for a while and I thought the breakfast was poor in comparison with some of the hotels and suprising given the build up in the brochure about the sourcing of the products. Overall I think expensive for the value offered

Beautiful French Country Setting
We really enjoyed our stay at La Marjolaine. The only problem we had was when we had dinner at the restaurant. The wait staff spoke less English than we spoke French and we ended up ordering something that we as Americans weren't able to eat! So be sure and use a Smartphone Translating App to work through the menu!

We thought it was excellent, The staff were courteous at all times and willing to give help and advice.We stayed on demi-pension which restricted our choice of menu. However the food was good and the young waiters a credit to the hotel . We would go back again.

This is a truly lovely hotel, wonderful setting, excellent restaurant and very helpful staff.
We requested a ground floor room because we were traveling with 2 dogs and we were accommodated in a room overlooking the river and farmland beyond which gave us direct access for walking the dogs without having to use staircases or long corridors.
For us it was wonderful, we would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

Photo not of the hotel. Hotel in grounds of Chateau. Hotel very pleasant in lovely surroundings. You need to understand French well to converse with some of the staff. Dinner was good but v expensive. breakfast compared with other French hotels was poor. Your details should indicate that the photos submitted with booking confirmation is not of the hotel and I suggest you add photo of hotel buildings (3No) Would recommend hotel with the foregoing qualifications.

Court séjour de deux nuits. Chambre dans une aile du château. Grande, parfaitement aménagée et propre, très belle salle de bains et qualité de literie nickel. Manque juste une bouilloire, un plateau thé/café et ce sera absolument parfait !

Sans doute avons-nous été malchanceux de tomber à un moment où le jacuzzi était en panne et le temps trop mauvais pour nous permettre d'essayer la piscine ou les vélos. Devoir garder la fenêtre fermée a également mis un peu trop en avant un léger manque d'aération naturelle de la chambre qui sent rapidement le renfermé. De plus, le personnel de ménage manque un peu de discrétion si on souhaite faire la grasse matinée !
Il n'en demeure pas moins que nous avons passé un excellent séjour. Nous avons été très bien accueilli, par des personnes réellement serviables. Le cadre est magnifique et reposant. Nous avons particulièrement apprécié la demi-pension !! Le restaurant est excellent et le menu vraiment copieux.
