I love staying at the Union hotel. It's a breeze to get to from Billy Bishop, and public transit is right there. My room was ready early which was great! My room had zero view even though it was on the top floor; a small quibble, I know, but I had to keep the blinds drawn as to not be in other folks' business the whole time (there are an internal facing set of rooms where we are just seeing each other's windows).
Rooms are great and the restaurant downstairs makes great coffee.

I cancelled 30 seconds after I booked it. I was in Asia and because Hotels.com acts first and thinks never, and although I had selected September 16 for the date for an AC/DC concert event, this bot inputs the date you open the app. Needless to say gone are the days I ever used hotels.com again. These bot apps have no humans getting paid, just one #%\!!! and they don’t have a review page so be careful before you book. Better yet find an app that has human customer service.

The restaurant will not take cash. I couldn’t eat or drink. I had to go outside to get food and drink. They will not accept Canadian currency at this Canadian hotel. Avoid!!!!

Maybe we stayed at a busy time,
April 2026 for 5 nights? We found that there is no way to spend any time in the lobby area because it is always occupied by individuals on their computers. Some were there all day! I assume that the lobby is open to anyone who purchases a coffee from the cafe there thus allowing them use the wifi. We were here in the fall of 2025 and there was always room to meet with other guests in our party to have a coffee etc. Rooms are so small that meeting in the lobby is the only option. Too bad to see that this is not an option anymore .

I had a great stay at Union Hotel. My room was immaculately clean when I arrived and staff was polite and ready to help out however they could from the moment I stepped into the hotel to the moment I left. Checking in and out was simple, and the hotel is in a good location, close by to plenty of venues, restaurants, and shops all within walking distance if you don't want to brave the downtown Toronto traffic. Parking is paid in a shared nearby garage and is a bit pricey, but not as bad as some of the other options in the area and still worth it for the convenience of location. Doors also get locked after a certain time of night for added security, requiring use of a bell and intercom or your room card to gain entry. An added bonus if security at night is something you're concerned about. I would definitely look into staying here again the next time I visit Toronto.

The rooms were quite small but it is advertised as a boutique hotel and it is an older building. Overall, stay was good and amazing for amenities near by. No microwave in the room and the air conditioner was so loud even after being looked at.

I’ve stayed here a couple times & each time the rooms are clean & stocked. The staff is always kind and welcoming.
The rooms are small, yes, but when you’re here to just sleep and get ready to go out - it’s exactly what you need.
I’m always recommending it to people I know.
Proximity to Union Station, the Skydome (FOREVER) and many restraurants & pubs - it’s ideal.

Would absolutely stay again! Beautiful hotel with a warm, modern and artsy atmosphere. Great location. Very clean. Great lounge with delicious food. The beds were comfy. Our room felt more like a little apt than a hotel room. Very cozy with nice decor. The staff was excellent - big shout out to Cecelia at the front desk and the charismatic gentleman who worked at the lounge who were so kind and friendly - their great customer service was greatly appreciated!

I would agree with others that the hotel feels modern. Rooms are small, but this did not bother me as I was only there for one night. There is quite a large lounge/cafe area downstairs which is handy for sitting in although it also appears to available as a co-working space for non-guests. In a convenient location as it is across the road from the train station. There were a couple of downsides, on checking in I noticed my bathroom had not been properly cleaned - there were hairs from beard trimming on the walls and also stuck to the moisturiser dispenser. The walls are also very thin. I could hear every noise/conversation being had in the corridor and there was also a gap round my door which let light in from the corridor - not great for light sleepers.

The 4-star rating at Union Hotel is a joke and does not reflect reality. Do not book here.

We arrived at 2:00 a.m. after a delayed flight with a reservation confirmed over a month in advance. Despite this, the front desk told us no room was prepared. We were forced to wait in the lobby while they hastily cleaned a room that had only just become vacant. Being told at 2:00 a.m. that a confirmed booking isn't ready is a total failure of their system.

The rest of the stay was equally substandard. The Wi-Fi was non-functional the entire time, forcing me to rely on my own cellular data for essential tasks. Breakfast was poor, with low-quality food and undrinkable coffee.

To top it off, the staff showed zero accountability. When I raised these issues, they dismissed me by claiming they couldn't offer compensation because I booked through Expedia. This is a pathetic excuse for a service provider. The Union Hotel is responsible for the quality of the stay regardless of how the room was paid for. They take your money but fail on the most basic hospitality standards. Stay elsewhere.

We took the train from Ottawa so this was a perfect location as it's very close to Union Station. It looked non-descript from the outside but as soon as we walked in, we were greeted by a significantly sized lobby / cafe / hangout space. Our room was small but super cute and trendy - very \"boutique hotel-ish\". We had an easy walk (~7 minutes) to Scotiabank Arena and lots of restaurant options all around us.

I'll definitely stay here again next time I come to downtown Toronto.

The location is really great if you arrive by train. The design is really charming. We found the scent in the lobby to be nice but a bit overwhelming, I would recommend to turn it down just a notch. Overall had a great stay, the only thing that really bugged us was the soundproofing of the rooms. We could hear everything that happened it the room next door, from the movie they watched to everytime they used the bathroom… It was a cheap stay, but for this last reason I would not go back.

The room we booked was a swanky queen and it was comically small. Whatever you’re thinking, think smaller. The door almost hits the bed and there is barely space to walk around the bed to get to the other part of the room which is the length of the bathroom doorway. Someone in a wheelchair would not be able to even enter the room. For the price we paid, this was truly awful and the reviews make no sense.

Very nicely appointed hotel. Rooms are nice, some may say small but fit us well. Bed was comfortable, shower was great and the lotions and soaps were amazing.
A couple hiccups. When we checked in, we were told we had only held the room and were charged the room fee plus $150 security deposit. We had already paid the room so once brought to the front desk’s attention, they said if it was ok it was stay on and then fall off with the security deposit. Luckily that was an option and it did come off. Other negative are the room doors. You hear them closing every time while you’re in your room. It’s loud and you can hear the noise in the room. Also if your neighbours are loud, you will hear them. We could hear the ladies across the hall, and they were in and out quite a bit. So it was constant slamming for about an hour until we finished getting ready and left.

Basically across the street from the Porter shuttle stop, and a short walk to Union Station, this was a super convenient spot to stay at! The hotel is beautifully decorated, staff are warm and welcoming, and my room was immaculate; no dust, spotless, and I realized why I really liked it: no carpet in the room! As someone with allergies this was a huge bonus. The hot water was fast, great water pressure, and the rainfall showerhead was fantastic. A really great hairdryer supplied in room as well.

Great location! A quick walk to the Scotiabank Arena, and other attractions. Hotel was really nice on the inside, and could tell it was newly renovated. Only downsides were the cleanliness of the bathroom which had some hair in the drain from the previous people, and build up in the corners of the shower. As well as the noise from the hallway really travels into the rooms at night time. However, this is a great hotel for location!

The room was clean and nice but so small that it felt like sleeping in a closet. The entrance door was one foot away from the bed.
Even though they had my credit card on file I was asked for a physical card to pay a deposit which was a problem as i only had my phone to pay. Luckily I had my physical debit card to use. Convenient location though :)

This hotel was great for a quick stay. The location right near Union Station, was convenient as we travelled to Toronto by train. The rooms are quite small, but it was fine for our trip, we just used the room to sleep. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The lobby was always busy and had a good vibe. I would stay again.

Amazing location. Very practical rooms for comfortable sleep and ease of Uber/Taxi pick up. Breakfast is made to order and delicious.

Would not recommend if you require additional seating, storage, or simple food prep. It’s a sleep and get going affair. Lounge area is bright with plenty of space for reading, scrolling, or work.

We enjoyed the lower key nature w/out the fluff of the major hotels near by.

Room was clean, bed comfy, front desk friendly. Lots of places to work and sit downstairs in the lounge. In bathroom, very small sink with no \"counter\" - was hard to place my flatiron - and the mirror in the bedroom did not have a plug near it that could be used. No bottled water provided, just a jug to fill from the tap. Most important - only instant coffee. No coffee maker in the bedroom.
