The location is perfectly located across the street from Lake Lugano and within a short walk of downtown. They have an amazing Spa and a Michelin Star restaurant.

The staff is always so friendly and makes us feel at home. This is my go to spot in Lugano.

The reason this review gets a single star and not zero stars is because of how great the people are. Experience-wise it has been two weeks and we are still dealing with the repercussions of our stay. During our time at the adult indoor spa, there were multiple kids that were being very poorly supervised. We didn't mind as we were flexible and assumed it would not implicate the upkeep of the property as there were many staff on deck. The disappointment began when we realized the hot tub was not at all hot and after spending about 20 minuted in the bubbling water we were appalled to discover that there were multiple pieces of poop on the floor of the hot tub. Disgusted does not even begin to cover it. TMI but - This actually led to us both acquiring an infection we're are still dealing with two weeks later. The situation was not at all remedied by the property and was only met with a subpar apology and nothing further. I feel as though such a disgusting, terrible experience merited a little more of a follow up and my wife could not have been more disturbed and upset by such a nasty experience. It really did ruin our stay and trip to Lugano and for these reasons we would definitely opt for an alternative property in the future.

The receptionist Maria was fantastic at checking us in! She showed us around, was very pleasant and enthusiastic and we really appreciated her care when checking us in.
The valet parking was ideal for us. Sadly one of our bags was left when reloading by the valet gentlemen but the hotel kindly sent this to us the following day so we have to mark them 10/10 for their service and for how they dealt with the scenario

It's a beautiful hotel overlooking Lake Lugano, just 10 mins walk from Lugano. The staff was friendly and courteous. Our suite had a number of issues - the TV didn't work, the bathroom door didn't close, the A/C didn't cool the room adequately, and the curtains did not close.

The only downside was that the air conditioning did not work in our room even after staff assured us, it was fixed. It was over 26 and was cooler outside. No accommodation was given.

Rather old and outdated

I have to admit being completely confused as to how this hotel has such raving reviews. It is indeed a very beautiful property, possibly with the best view in town, with a lot of history and prestige, but in quite bad shape, rooms very outdated, everything with a moldy smell, very disappointing. Staff was lovely, really tried to accommodate our shock when we were showed to our room, especially as the pictures can be a bit misleading. Breakfast was quite bad too, as in low quality of ingredients and not very diverse.

As i said, staff was lovely and extremely helpful, the view is stunning. The pool area also seemed very nice but didn’t get the chance to enjoy it. But in my opinion, not a very premium experience, beside the fact that you are sleeping in a historical building.

We are regulars of another 5 star hotel in Lugano which is, in fact, way better.

I gave this hotel a 4 because the room was very noisy and next to the elevator. The elevator started running early in the morning and was very loud; the hotel amenities close at 7:00. As we travelled from a different time zone, I would have appreciated a quiet room in am and being able to use the pool later at night.

Rooms on the back side overlook a dirty green zone and our room was placed in the newer building while we would have preferred being in the old building. Access to spa and swimming pool has to be made trough the entrance and the lobby plus the bar, not very adequate in bathing gown. Otherwise, very nice staff and good kitchen. Service at the bar a little too superficial.

The location is spectacular ... right on Lake Lugano and within walking distance to the city center. The building has two sides ... a newer and older wing. The old wing is dark and tired. I do not recommend it. But the new wing is beautiful and comfortable. The staff could not be nicer from the porter to the desk staff. The breakfast is fair but the dinner was excellent.

The Splendide is a classic 140 year old exquisite hotel in the heart of Lugano. Situated on Lake Lugano, one can walk its shore for miles. Also walkable through Lugano's fabulous cobbled old town and it's Salumarias to Piazza della Reforma and it's people-watching restaurants. A real treat.

We have been on this trip for over three weeks. Most of the time we have been in 4 or 5 star hotels. Without a doubt, this hotel was a real pleasure. While we only stayed for one night, they treated us like royalty. From the first person we met from the hotel to the last one as we were leaving they were all very friendly and very nice. Lugano is a beautiful place and this place made it even better.

The view from our room was on lake Lugano and it was stunning. The hotel itself is a bit outdated but maintained in a good condition especially the bathroom facilities. The breakfast was just ok for this level of hotel but the evening service and the bar were pretty decent. Overall very nice place to stay in Lugano, especially if you catch a good price
