Great Hotel in the Centre of Cognac

This is a lovely old hotel, recently refurbished I would imagine, in the centre of Cognac. Staff were friendly with a good command of English and our room was clean and comfortable with a fantastic shower! Breakfast was very good too! Parking is available but as we visited on a weekend we were able to park on the street outside for free. The hotel is very well located for bars and restaurants as well as the major brandy houses.

Great location in the middle of this delightful town. Unfortunately we didn't have time to try the pool or spar facilities. Only slight criticism was the room we were in felt a little dated for 4* hotel. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Overnight Stay in Cognac

From going through the electronic doors with the car, the very friendly and informative booking in, the Cognac cocktails in the bar, the arranging of our dinner in \"La Maison\", to the breakfast and check-out this was a fabulous experience. The room on the second floor had a great view of the bustling square, but even though there was a lot of traffic the triple glazing cut the noise down to a murmur. The bathroom was very luxury and the towels were really soft and substantive in size. The bed was big and comfortable, the air-con kept the room at a really comfortable temperature. I will definitely use this Hotel again, if I am ever staying over in Cognac. Thanks to Catherine, the receptionist, for a very welcoming and informative chat.

Well-placed hotel with great staff.

The hotel is well located right in the centre of Cognac, but there was no noise in our room as windows were well insulated. The building is historic but has a comfortable modern interior with air conditioning. Staff were welcoming and considerate, which I appreciated especially as my mobility was not great at the time. Good car parking. Would definitely stay there again.

Fabulous Hotel in a iconic French town

This is one of the best hotels that I have ever stayed in. It started off well when we were upgraded to the prestige suite. The facilities are excellent, nespresso coffee machine thick towels, beautifully comfortable bed to name just a few.
The experience is made special by the genuine warmth and friendliness of the staff, epitomised by Thibault a real credit up the Hotel.
If you are going to Cognac I don't think you will find a better hotel then this.

excellent everything. hotel is in fan condition with fab staff. the bedrooms are well thought out as in light switches and plugs. the pool although small has a huge pump in it so you can swim against the current and get no where, robes, towels and flip flops were readily available. great location, fab beer garden. like I say excellent everything

Bar closed on Monday, no cocktails or other drinks, unacceptable in a so called 4* hotel. No dining room or dinner.
Difficult to find space to park a Range Rover in the hotel car park.
Breakfast cheese was stale. Ham etc. not topped up as they ran out.

Enjoyed a 5 day break in Cognac. Hotel was very smart and the staff most helpful. You can hear the hustle and bustle in the square when you are staying in a room at the front but with the windows closed and a/c switched on then it becomes acceptable. We would definitely stay here again.

Perfect place to stay in Cognac

The hotel is located around the corner from the tourist office and walking distance to the train station and all the main sites, including the cognac houses. Good Location & Friendly Staff

We only stayed in Cognac for one night in early April 2015. This hotel provided a great location for walking to dinner and some of the cognac houses. Everything is really quite close to the city center where this hotel is. Only negative aspect of the hotel was that the air conditioning was still set for winter (meaning no air conditioning). So you had to open your windows for cooling the room and bathroom. Our room was on the 2nd floor facing the main intersection of the town \"square\". So to keep the windows open, first meant no privacy and secondly you had to endure the sound a loud people partying in the square, loud cars, and really loud motorcycles. At least it does quiet down around midnight and then doesn't pick back up again until around 8 AM - when you should be getting up anyway. The hot portion of the breakfast was awful I'm afraid. Stick to the yogurt & fruit to be sure. Good coffee though.

Great hotel and location in Cognac

The staff was very helpful. We received a warm welcome when we arrived and the check-in process could not have been better. When we left the next morning the help given was exceptional. We needed to take some lunch with us for a long ride north, not only were we told how to get to a place that might make some sandwiches for the ride he walked with us to a local shop to make sure we got what we needed.

The hotel is well located and has beautiful grounds. The breakfast is overpriced for what they serve, compared to what we have seen in other similarly priced hotels. The rooms are basic. For those from the USA, there is only a tub and handheld shower wand.

Our stay at the Hôtel François Premier was excellent. The staff was extremely professional, yet friendly and very helpful. The rooms are beautiful and extremely clean. We were there only for one night but we truly enjoyed our stay. The hotel is very well located. We walked to the Hennessy house and had a tour. We had a drink at the hotel bar after our dinner and really had a nice time chatting with one of the hotel staff (sorry forgot her name). We strongly recommend the Hôtel François Premier at Cognac.

Wifi not effective soured our experience

The hotel is perfectly located, with very helpful and informed staff. However, he 'free' wifi was so slow as to be unworkable. This was a shame, as otherwise, the hotel is almost faultless ( I drink tea, not coffee, my partner reported that the breakfast coffee was undrinkable). Again, no matter, next time we would not bother with breakfast in the hotel.

But don't let that put you off, for what we wanted, an east to find, centrally located 4 star hotel it easily achieves that.

A First Class First Visit.....Je Reviens

From the friendly, efficient welcome, to the final 'Au Revoir' it was perfect. The hotel is now beautifully renovated, stylish, yet intimate and welcoming. Ideally situated at the heart of Cognac, there are restaurants, shops, museums, and history on your doorstep. Whilst the room was small, as most hotels in classic french buildings are, it was completely newly refurbished and very comfortable. In fact, it has all been done with a sophisticated palette. The cocktail bar, which in the evenings invites the cognac connoisseur to taste great cocktails, doubles up in the morning to provide an impressive breakfast selection to satisfy a demanding palete.
Remember to book your car parking space, you will be glad you did,
And take your swimming costume, you may even have the pool to yourself.
We were in Cognac for the 'Bluespassions' blues and jazz festival, and couldnt have chosen a better location.
