The hotel is very good, very clean. Fantastic view from the breakfast room on the fourth floor. The service is very polite. I appreciate the freshly squeezed orange juice. One thing that surprised me was that when checking out, I was told that I had used the mini bar, which was not true.

We only stayed one night (to catch our early flight back to the US). The hotel was immaculate, and the rooms were spacious. The have a very nice restaurant on the 6th floor with excellent food. The staff was fantastic. When they found out we has to leave very early in the morning, they had packed breakfast snack bags waiting for us at the checkout desk.

We loved the rooftop breakfast. Plenty of options and a really nice view. The area around the hotel is not a very nice part of town and is quite a long way from the cathedral square which is the heart of Catania's night life.

nice view but could be loud in the night

My stay was on Saturday, so it could be different on other days of the week, but the area close to the hotel is like Las Vegas Strip with hundreds of people walking and shouting, cars honking, and bikes revving till late night. And there is almost none sound insulation, so if you go to bed early, there's no chance to sleep. Moreover, if you are at 3rd floor you can hear screech of chairs scraping in the restaurant/cocktail bar at 4th. Another disadvantage is the lack of kettle in the room. Other than that, it's a very nice hotel with a great view on the sea, varied breakfast (though, strangely, there's no orange juice!), and an underground parking (it's next to impossible to park on the street).

the hotel is listed as four stars, but i feel they cut a lot of corners, which may result in disappointment from customers expecting four star service. they didn't provide free water or coffee like many other hotels do as a basic service, and their AC was leaking water over our floor. that being said, the room was clean and modern, and the facilities like the rooftop restaurant were nice. the surrounding area was safe and walkable, including many restaurants, but so loud at night and basically impossible to sleep when facing the street.

We chose to stay here for our stay in Catania instead of centre of city. Room with a balcony facing the ocean was a highlight of our stay which wouldn't have been possible in the city. Location was 15 minute walk to metro and 2 stops to city centre for 1 euro versus 15 euro cab ride. Front staff were very friendly, room was decent size, modern with many light options. Black-out power blinds were great to have at sunrise. Shower was very spacious but rest of bathroom very tight. Nice to have mini fridge, bed linens and pillows were the most comfortable of all 4 hotels we stayed at on this vacation which is top priority on my list. Comparing to other hotels we stayed at, would have been nice to have a proper coffee machine (instead of kettle), magnifying mirror in bathroom, complimentary water bottles. Breakfast was decent for a European hotel but the view from the restaurant was a bonus. On the negative side, chamber maid left us with no extra roll of toilet paper (just made it to morning before having to get my own on her cart), and she left used coffee mugs on our counter. Lobby area could benefit from an update, eg. ripped couches.

Hotel was very nice and clean! Staff were helpful and complimentary breakfast on the rooftop was beautiful. I would totally stay here again.
Only suggestion I have to make the hotel better is to not make the room doors slam when people enter/exit their rooms. My wife and I were woken up 3-4 times because room doors were slamming after 11pm and midnight.

I thought items for breakfast were not replenished until closing time, 10am.I stayed there 11 days and yet the same person would ask me my room number every morning. My door needed to be closed by banging it which isn't ideal when you arrive at 3.30 am.I asked reception, they were supposed to fix the issue but 3 days later was still not repaired.The bar fridge takes 3 days to have a bottle become cold. The air conditioning shuts off so when you leave for a lengthy period,you come back to a warm room. Air conditioning will take 1 hour to vreturn to reasonable temperature.

all was good....except yhat i was given a room with constricton going all around me. that is not nornal. the hotel should have given me a room on the other side of the hotel like my other 4 colleagues. they did not hear anything. it was only for 1 night so i did not say anything. however o did comment to a very disgrunted reception girl....and instead of appologising she just brushed it off as....\"well there is construction...what do u expect\" i expect an ansee to this.

Due to the pre-stay charge by the hotel being declined by the credit card company, the hotel cancelled our booking. When we showed up, they no longer had any room in the hotel. So they put us in the apartment nearby. They helped transporting us and our luggage over. The apartment was quite new and nice. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant which was very good.

pros: fabio was very helpful with giving information and tips for restaurants, the hotel was clean, and a nice buffet
Cons: wifi was ok, hotel is across the road from the ocean(not a beach) the beach chair and umbrellas are on the 4th floor of the hotel over looking the road and then the ocean, the air conditioning in the room was non existent(even though advertised), after 3 requests to resolve problem, A/C never worked(literally a fan blowing warm air), we were on the 1st floor facing the parking lot and had to keep the windows open at all time(which is very noisy and a little scary). I requested to pay for a room on the ocean side at a higher level but was told there was nothing that would sleep my family of 4 on the ocean side.

Breakfast was the average continental if Europe. Hotel had construction all day to prepare for their busy season. We had 4 rooms booked for 3 weeks and had to cancel after the first night due to the noise. Hotel staff cancelled our booking without issues. Location was great.

The hotel is set up for business people on a short stay. The room walls are thin and you can hear everyone. It’s placement on the waterfront is nice but as a place to sleep it falls short.

We asked for help shipping some items to the US and the staff refused to help at all. Disappointing is the general word for this hote.

If you are looking for a clean and save place to stay in Catania I highly recommend to stay at Plaza Hotel Catania. This hotel is a little bit outside of city centre but located in great neighbourhood, plenty of great cafes, restaurants and near supermarket. It also offers complementary breakfast (they do a Country theme so each week you get to try different delicacy of different Countries) and free parking (underground parking).
Our room was tiny but clean, everyday we had new towels and made beds. We didn’t spend a lot of time in hotel room that’s why we haven’t complained to reception about the room size.
Receptionists were very helpful in getting restaurant recommendations and possible trips (like Etna experience). Massive thank you to all at Plaza Hotel for making our holiday stay memorable!

The hotel was conveniently located near the area I needed to be, but the building is a very dated, and the price absolutely does not match the quality. I was traveling on business, so I needed an iron and ironing board. They only had one, and it was not available until the next morning, which resulted in me being delayed for work. The room had a smell to it and the shower felt like I was going to fall through the floor. The staff were very friendly and the breakfast was ok. Other than it being close to where I was working, there were no other perks. I will not be staying here when I return for more work.

The Plaza Hotel was a very good 3 night stay for us. The front desk people, the bar people, the breakfast people were all just very accomodating and very helpful. Breakfast was very special and we did take full advantage of it. The internet was outstanding. The location was good but a cab ride from several important locations like the train and bus station. Overall we loved this Hotel and do not want to detract from that but the air conditioning needs some attention.

Could have been a nice hotel but...

Jacuzzi jets didn't work in tub. Couldn't regulate the hot and cold water. Felt like I was scalded by hot water. No one ever cleaned the room while I stayed there so no clean linens etc... They said I put out the do not disturb card. I never saw a do not disturb card anywhere. Door not working with card key. Finally door wouldn't open at all. Had to wait for two staff members tell me yes it wasn't working. Apparently hotel already knew about it but...hmmm. Bathroom door locked itself. Couldn't get into the bathroom one night. Reported incidents and got a shrug. Rooms overlook a busy highway...

I stayed many times at the plaza. The only thing why I did not give this hotel 5 star the room was to hot I did tell the reception but they did nothing. The breakfast was good but before it was much better.
Dont give that type of juice in breakfast it taste of water and you can make much better croissants than that.

Nice hotel close to the black rock beach

Amazing staff, specially Fabio that was extremely helpful and sweet. Beautiful view from the roof terrass. Approx 15 min by car from the heart of Catania. Not close to a sandy beach but a great area have been built on the cliffs for swimming and sunbathing with a bar.

Had booked a \"single\" type of room and found it to be extremely small with a very poor layout. Queen size bed took up 80% of the room and lamps blocked what little area was left to maneuver around the bed. Bathroom had no counter space near the sink or inside shower stall. But the staff was extremely friendly/helpful and the breakfast buffet was outstanding. Hotel is in a nice residential area across the street from the sea, but a little inconvenient in terms of getting to/from the main Catania tourist areas.

10 DAYS IN CATANIA - PLAZA HOTEL

The hotel is neat, clean, well appointed and across the street from some nice restaurants along the beach. However there are some issues. If you take a 'mountain view room' you do not want to be on the 1st floor. Your view will be of heating ducts and trees. I addressed this issue with the front staff and was moved to a much more satisfactory room the next day. There is no gym or pool which seemed odd for a four star. The breakfast is satisfactory and plentiful but on one occasion the catering staff did not light the chaffing dishes and the scrambled eggs and mini-sausages (wieners) were ice cold. Tables were oft left unattended while guests looked for a clean place to sit and utensils with which to eat. The hotel has a shuttle which I took on our departure. I thought it was complementary but I was charged 15 Euro for the short trip from the hotel to the train station. In spite of all the above we did have a pleasant stay and would likely return.

We stayed at the Junior Suite. Room was clean and spacious and the hotel reception staff were pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was ok although a variation of the menu would have been welcome. Wi-fi was good when on-line but if not in continuous use, it required a re signing in, which was frustrating.

L’accueil est toujours sympathique. Le personnel est très disponible même s’il ne peut pas toujours trouver une solution. Dans les chambre l’équipement est perfectible. Pas toujours une bouilloire, jamais une cafetière, pas de chaussures d’intérieur si on ne les demande pas.
Si l’hôtel est bien placé et benn exposé pour les chambres côté mer, il a un très gros problème : le bruit très fort. Bruit de la circulation, bruit venant de l’intérieur. Au premier étage côté sud une boîte de nuit fait trembler les mur et empêche de dormir. Au dernier c’est le bruit du restaurant en terrasse jusqu’à minuit et le matin le même restaurant produit le bruit de rangement des chaises. Ajouter que l’escalier est très sonore. Si on aime le bruit ….
