Other worldly beach weighed down by aging hotel

Absolutely stunning beach outweighs the absolute lack of basic amenities you pay for with this location. The service of the staff during breakfast, lunch, and dinner were excellent. This place is all inclusive so you can smash as many brews and liquor as you like, all day. The food was good, but reminded me of a military dining facility, provided they are operating under COVID-19 conditions. My daughter lost her beloved stuffy at the dining facility and were offered zero assistance in locating it. The priority was about prepping for the next meal. What this place really needs is a significant facelift and modernization plan. NO air conditioning, NO internet, Non-potable water from the taps and run down, musty smelling bungalows are where you reside when you are not at the most amazing beachfront you’ve ever seen. Overall, 5/10.

Great location on the island. You can reach any \"need to see\" spot within 15 minutes and can walk to few of the most famous Chiringuitos! Food good, staff great, rooms are located in nice looking buildings inside the rooms are 70/80s style looking.. very cleaned but don't expect a fancy room. We loved it all and will return.

I did a lot of research on the property and read ALOT of reviews on trip advisor. I can confirm that those reviews are mostly accurate. When we arrived I must admit reception was not so welcoming, definitely room for improvement.The accommodation is very dated and the beds are not the most comfortable, but the \"bungalows\" are kept clean. There is also quite a bad sewage smell in the bathroom, as I read in a few reviews - probably because the properties are so dated.It is a huge property with the restaurant being quite a distance away from the accommodation so be prepared to do a lot of walking (and it's uphill back to the accommodation), if you do not like walking then this is not the place for you. On the plus side there is a good variety of food and the restaurant is perfectly located for great views. Entertainment was ok and you have a choice of a salt water pool and 2 freshwater pools, the one freshwater pool is very shallow with slides, aimed at small kids only. They do offer a buffet lunch at the freshwater pools, so that you don't have to walk all the way down to the main restaurant, BUT this is very basic and nothing to rave about. You can also get mini pizza's, burger, hotdogs and toasted sandwiches from the pool bar, nothing wonderful but they are ok - Pizza was not bad, but make sure they have cooked it properly. Slush puppies, coke, Fanta, sprite, fruit juice and water on tap all day - which is great for the kids and free ice cream - always a winner. Great beach!

Just returned from an amazing week at Mar y Land in Formentera. Had such a relaxing week. The island itself is beautiful and hotel has a very chilled out atmosphere. Had never done all inclusive before and was a bit apprehensive about food selection as I’m a vegan but it was better than I had expected.
Would definitely return!

Enjoyed the stay for a week but any longer and the entertainment at the hotel gets a little annoying - it's very loud and you can't avoid it. Almost everyone that stays is Italian so everything is done in Italian - also gets a little annoying. The wifi doesn't work at all. As I said - lovely for a one week stay.

Fantastic family holiday on a beautiful island

Pros: Location near beach and bus stop, 3 pools, fantastic food, good entertainment, clean rooms, very child friendly.
Cons: Rooms are very basic. However, we found that we didn't spend much time in our room anyway. This hotel probably isn't suitable for a couple looking for a quiet holiday. Great for families though.

Nice place to go in September dont recommend to go on July if you are a couple and don't have kids.
This place can get full of kids , and the pool get infested of them.

The restaurant was the most disappointing place for me and my wife, the food was always cold even if we go 1 minute after it open. the time you put the food on you place and go to your table the food is already ice cold. we preferred the hamburger served as a snack in the bar instead of a dinner/lunch in the restaurant.

Old fellows and moms with baby trolleys are everywhere, if you don't have patience to wait them walk or get drink in the queue is not a place for you too.

The rooms is always very far from the restaurant and the main pool more or less 600 meters. i have no problem with that but someone might.

NEVER LEAVE YOUR STUFF EXPOSED IN YOUR ROOM, don't leave any window open when you leave, or door or anything, close everything you have in the bags before you leave, i saw a lot of cops there because of robbery not from locals but from ppl who goes there to stay in the hotel (i guess) particularly i saw just once a family got stolen.

pools are salted water.

No wifi in the rooms, i bought an SIM card in the town center and i used the whole trip.
But they have wifi in the main lobby and in the bar(the internet bar sucks, really really sucks)

Friendly and helpful staff, kids loved the entertainment, large pool is great for swimming lengths, beautiful beach close by, room cleaned daily and fresh towels, good choice of food even for us vegetarians, one suggestion would be to label food if suitable for veggies/ vegans or not. Busy in August as are most places and chairs by pool usually taken early.

On arriving at the hotel reception, we were greeted by friendly, helpful staff who made us feel very welcome. We were pleasanty surprised that the 'all inclusive' package really did include everything: bike hire, tennis courts, all exercise classes, pools, evening shows and day time entertainment, all meals, snacks, alcoholic beverages, coffees etc, etc..! The 'bungalows' looked just as they do on the website; spotlessly clean (if a little dated) whitewashed flatlets with balcony and verandah and good basic facilties. The only downside being that ours was in full sunshine all day and evening and, as there is no air-conditioning was at times unberably hot. There were ceiling mounted fans in both bedroom and lounge which had to be in use all night. The entertainments team was so friendly and great fun, putting on really good family entertainment at the village theatre 6 nights out of 7.The restaurant staff were so efficient and the food they prepared was both delicious and healthly with a range of choices for all tastebuds except perhaps for vegetarians which was a bit limited but nonetheless very good. The village is well laid out with two lovely pools and a new large paddling pool surrounded by sun loungers (perfect for parents). There are two bars where the drinks, alcoholic and non-alcoholic flow freely throughout the day and night. The beautiful, clean turquoise waters of the sea were a pleasure to bath in and welcome respite from the very hot July sun. A great holiday!

Family Friendly All Inclusive in Formentera

We stayed at Club Maryland for 5 nights with two young children. We loved the pools and beaches, lots of foods at the buffets restaurants. They had a creche for kids, one session in AM and another one in PM. Our kids wanted to go to the Mini Disco at 9:30pm every night, and and other entertainment for all ages from 10pm. The premises were kept very clean and tidy in general, the bangalows were very simple but clean. Food was amazing from lots of choices, accomodated to Italian and German (majorities) guests perhaps?

Natural laid back surroundings

Booked last minute holiday for a week with my family. Formentera is a beautiful small island off Ibiza with lovely clean clear blue waters and a selection of easily accessible beaches. This plus the beautiful natural surroundings of the hotel buildings set within its own grounds, made the week very relaxing and exactly what we wanted from our time away. The hotel is well located next to a long beach and also has a good bus service plus bike hire to easily get to other parts of the island.

Friendly service, but definitely a 3-star hotel

In Formentera there are not many hotels that accommodate families of 4 or more. The Maryland was a good choice for us in terms of quality and price. The food is a bit repetitive and not always good, but it is not easy to produce better quality for such a high volume of guests. Many of the pastries are fresh baked on the premises and quite good. The dining area is lovely with a beautiful view, but in the outdoor part they could invest in creating some shade as most of the seats remain vacant at lunch because of the strong sun. Long queues form for people waiting for the few spots available in the shade. The rooms are very basic and can be quite noisy if located on the main path to the beach. We asked to change rooms for this reason and were happy with the new room. The double bed in the second room however were 2 singles pushed together. I wanted to request a normal double bed, but hesitated after already changing rooms once. The location of the hotel is far from the action on the island in Es Pujols and the beaches of Illetes. There is a convenient bus that stops right it front of the hotel to take you to the other areas but the hours are infrequent. We really liked the beaches in the immediate vicinity of the hotel and were happy to spend most of our time there. The staff at the reception and bar areas are exceptionally friendly and accommodating. Our kids are teens and enjoyed the organized sports activities for adults and older kids.

Apartments in pine forest close to stunning beach

I can't fault this hotel - everything was perfect from start to finish. The accomodation is basic but we only used it for showers & to sleep in & it was more than adequate for both these things. The area is truly stunning with the apartments set in acres of shady pine forests. Depending on the situation of your apartment you may have to walk quite a distance down to the restaurant, pool, snack bar & beach but we didn't mind as we're fit & happy to get the exercise. There was a quieter pool & snack bar nearer the reception area where they also had a fantastic theatre for shows in the evening.
The animation team were the best I have ever seen. They worked tirelessly from morning to late evening to provide a varied entertainment programme for everyone of all ages. The shows they put on in the evenings were of a very high standard. The team were really friendly without being intrusive.
The food in the hotel was also of a very high standard - HUGE choice every meal - great quality of meat & fish etc. The staff worked so hard to clear & reset tables for you as quickly as possible.
The coffee served in the snack bars was filter coffee with hot milk as served in Costa/Starbucks - in china cups- couldn't believe it! Also the choice & quality of ice creams was great.
My husband & son went out on bikes a few times which were provided free by the hotel. The roads are very busy so not for the inexperienced. Beaches close by are stunning with nice boarded walkways to get to them.

As a regular visitor to Formentera, I would normally stay near the busy town of Es Pujols.Club Maryland was ideal as the Island in August is overcrowded and the hotel is situated on the quite side of the Island on the beautiful Migjorn beach. The complex is large and the bungalow we stayed in was a 10 minute walk to the restaurant and main area on the beach so not suitable if you have difficulties in walking; if not the walk is very relaxing to work off the ample food served in the restaurant. We had the all-inclusive deal and thought the food was very good and the restaurant was always very clean and well attended by friendly staff and management. For families with constantly hungry kids, the all-inclusive is ideal as food and drink is extremely expensive in Formentera although after a week the adults will yearn for something different. The rooms are very old style and basic but ok if you intend to enjoy the outside life on the Formentera beaches. Overall Club Maryland is a very nice place run by friendly experienced staff but one very BIG warning. Do not hire a scooter from the hire shop next to the reception. I was charged an extra 31 euros because the girl said it should have been returned earlier; this was the same girl that agreed the contract to 6pm. She was the rudest person I have ever dealt with. The lady in reception said she always has complaints but there is nothing she can do about it! come on management dont let her ruin your hotel, get rid of her!

Fuimos con un bebé de 2 meses y nos pusieron en una habitación con escaleras y super lejos del buffet. Nos dijeron que en el bar de la piscina se podía desayunar, pero solo había un poco de bollería que se acababa en 15 minutos.

El concepto de este lugar en los años 80 seguro que fue un acierto . Necesita una reforma . La habitación un horno . La comida es repetitiva y serán los cocineros pero que esa misma materia prima se podrían hacer platos más apetitosos .

Seconda volta peggio della prima

Eravamo stati nel 2019 e avevamo avuto una ottima esperienza considerando il rapporto qualità/prezzo. Dopo due anni è peggiorata la cucina, l’animazione (capo villaggio inesistente) e le attività (a metà agosto si ritrovano con un solo pallone di beach volley, il minigolf impresentabile). I bungalow sono rimasti quelli di prima senza alcun miglioramento (e ne avrebbero ben bisogno). Peccato perché la location è splendida. Speriamo che la insotel si decida ad investire in questa struttura come ha fatto a Cala Tarida.

La ubicación es excelente, la comida abundante, variada y todo muy bueno. El personal súper agradable. Las habitaciones no tienen aire acondicionado pero tienen ventiladores de techo y se está muy bien.

Staff fantastico da vero hotel di lusso. Alcune stanze sono spartane ma l'isola è abbastanza selvaggia in sé quindi ci sta: c'è stato un problema per cui ci hanno prontamente fatto cambiare stanza in una ancora migliore. Piscina bellissima cosi come il mare. La cucina dell'hotel era buonissima e von tantissime offerte, open bar gratuito ed attivo 24h.

Bella struttura, camere un po’ datate ma funzionali.
A 5 min tramite passatela di legno a destra si arriva ad una parte della spiaggia con mare spettacolare. Sulla sinistra a poco più di 5 min a piedi si arriva alla stupenda spiaggia di cala del morto, percorsi un po’ accidentato.
Cibo abbondande ma discreto. Animazione classica da villaggio medio, carina e simpatica ma senza doti artistiche.

Gli unici due difetti:
- le rifiniture interne deilbungalow dove o soggiornato io erano vecchie e non mantenute. Per esempio la porta del bagno rimaneva socchiusa, era impossbile chiuderla. Avevo chiesto un intervento per sistemarla, ma non è mai venuto nessuno.
- lo scaldabango è troppo piccolo, non è possibile fare tutti la doccia se il bungalow ospita più di due persone, stando attenti a non sprecare acqua calda. Il terzo la fa fredda.
Il resto nulla da dire: ottime piscne, servizi bar e ristorante. Ottimo il cibo e ampia scelta. Animatori coinvolgenti. Ottima posizione con le fermate dei bus davanti all'ingresso principale della struttura.

Decisamente Deludente!

Villaggio Turistico immerso in una pineta in prossimità del mare: Struttura datata con camere ed arredamenti altrettanto vecchi e poco funzionali. Non commentabile la disposizione e la funzionalità del bagno. Camera dotata di televisore a 14 pollici a tubo catodico con segnale video scarso e con cavi elettrico e antenna talmente corti da non poterlo girare per una comoda visione dal divano. Collegamento Wi-Fi disponibile solo nelle aree comuni e peraltro a bassa velocità; la camera era inoltre poco coperta dal segnate 3G. Cibo disponibile in abbondanza ma preparato con materie prime surgelate e di generale scarsa qualità. Servizi della spiaggia prospicente alla struttura a pagamento. Nulla da eccepire per quanto riguarda la pulizia della camera e delle aree comuni e lo staff dell'animazione.

Per famiglie, mare, ottimo rapporto qualità prezzo

Camere spaziose anche se un po' datate ma c'è tutto. Ottimo servizio ristorante, molta scelta tra cui ottime insalate, pesce grigliato, formaggi e dolci. Buona scelta anche sui primi e secondi. Piscine davvero belle e mare incantevole. Staff animazione non assillante e ottimo servizio miniclub-baby parking. Raggiungibile comodamente con bus di linea dal porto.
