I highly recommend the Swiss-Belhotel in Sorong! We stayed there before and after our scuba diving trip. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean and very nice. Food was delicious. Breakfast buffet had something for everyone.

The reception staff were kind and sent a WhatsApp message to let me know that my room was ready much earlier than it might have been. The room was very spacious and immaculately clean and I enjoyed the kettle and fridge. Loved the pool and made use of the gym. Thank you too for the very good breakfast.

Very friendly staff but with some language issues. When I checked in, reiterated my request that we needed a room with two beds. They said it would be no problem but they would need a little time before room was ready. Later they told us that our room was now ready and that they had reconfigured the room from two beds to one. Yikes! We had to wait another two hours while reconfigured the room again!

The space is a very typical good quality hotel room, it was not very spacious but enough for our needs. The hotel has a pool and gym which we used as we stayed 2 nights. Breakfast (included) was wonderful and lunch and dinner (separate) was also very delicious. Earplugs can be handy as the mosque call to prayer starts very early and is repeated throughout the day.

Had a Transit Package a week ago and I already knew that when it was time to stay here.., that I’d love it. And indeed, I did.
Beautiful lobby. Amazing staff. My room on the third floor had views over the water. Nothing was too difficult. I had a very early flight and would therefore miss breakfast, so it was all organised for me, to have a breakfast box prior to check out. Forgot a couple of items, and the staff were quick to respond to say they’d located them and have them there for me when I come back next week for another stay. Excellent. Highly recommend.

For staying in Sorong, there aren’t many options so this is not bad in comparison. The only other nicer hotel is the Aston which if you’re flying out the next day would probably be better since it’s so close to the airport. The room overall was ok, the bed was comfortable and the AC worked well. There was a small stain on the edge of the bed but wasn’t worth bringing up to staff. The bathroom is really odd, the shower is one of those half enclosed ones so the water just poured out onto the floor, eventually flooding into the bathroom floor making the whole bathroom wet. The gym has very limited weights and a couple treadmills which I used as I am training for a race at the moment. The AC in the gym was so bad that it felt like a sauna while running. I was sweating so much I couldn’t get through my entire run. The restaurant wasn’t bad and we were satisfied with our meal. If I didn’t have to fly out the next day I would probably stay here again. It’s very basic but works if none of the above is a problem for you.

I stayed here upon recommendation of the cruise staff. NEVER STAY THERE! The air conditioning didnt work,there was no hot water and the pool was out of service.To add insult to injury, when I checked out I placed my wallet on the counter and a hotel employee attenpted to steal it. He was caught on the security footage and at first said he was picking up a piece of garbage but when the police arrived said that he gave it to housekeeping to secure and they returned it. (even though he was,standing a few feet from the ftont desk). The only positive was the good breakfast.

Confirm about shuttle / taxis from Airport. We completed it at time of reservation and when we were traveling and couldn't get internet, we received so many emails about confirming our taxi rides.

Had high hopes

We had high hopes as it came recommended. Unfortunately, it wasn't quite up to the hype. There were AC problems and black mold in the bathroom that ended up getting most of our friends sick after breathing it in. There was also mold found in the refrigerator as well. In addition, unless there is a key card in the slot, all power in the room - including the fridge and AC - would shut off as soon as you took it out making everything work extra hard and helping to create the mold situation.

This was our second stay. Rooms are tidy. Laminate flooring is a little tired and maybe not greatest selection for a tropical environment but not a deal breaker. Lobby and dining facilities are very nice. Outdoor dining area is also a plus. Staff are really great so big shout out to them. Breakfast buffet has lots of choices and I’d think has something for everyone. We ate dinner a la carte and that, too, was tasty. I like to try street food but didn’t think that it was wise this time around. Booked a third night for when we come back from our liveaboard trip so that should say something. Beds were comfy too.

I really enjoyed staying at this hotel before my sailing trip to Raja Ampat. It's new, modern, has a pool and a gym. Food is wonderful as are the mango smoothies. Service is excellent. My room was a bit on the small side in comparison to other Indonesian hotels but clean. I will stay here again if I return to Sarong

The room was fine, the hotel nice but both nights there was street music outside our third floor window. The music started at 3am and continued until morning. It might be possible to ask for a room on the other side, I do not know if it was audible or bothersome in that side. The hotel is nice otherwise and I understand that they have no control over this disturbance.

Clean, good service, good breakfast included, good Wi-Fi but the employees are not fluent on English. Besides, the front desk receptionist sent me for a walk at the local market. Advice: Don't do that. Terrible walkway conditions, very hot and even dangerous. The neighborhood is far from what I expected; no pretty beaches nor historical interesting places to kill time. It is definitely a place to sleep one night and move to your liveaboard or whatever you went there to do.

There were not enough electrical outlets in the room. There was only one in the bathroom, one for the coffee pot and one at the desk. None by the bed at all. We had to request and get an extension cord for my husband's C-pap machine. Also, the AC worked poorly and the repair man was not very helpful or friendly the first time he came. The second time, after we knew there was no improvement, he fixed it, but it shouldn't have taken two requests.
The front desk needed staff that spoke English a bit better. It was very, very hard to understand them.

Fortunately the included breakfast is a wonderful buffet of anything and everything and you don’t need to rely on the inefficient wait staff. Room was fine and AC worked. But the in-room refrigerator and hair dryer did not work. Quite a few of the boards in the deck to get to the pool were in very unsafe condition. Room service menu and what they actually offered did not match. And the language barrier with the person answering the room service phone (even though I was just using a language that was on the menu) made it impossible to figure out what they actually offered for room service. Room service is closed much of the night through noon.

The hotel maybe the best in town but it is pretty poor. They refused to give any of our group 2 keys for the room even though there was 2 in each room and you need the key to operate the elevator!

There seems to be no management around! The food was ok but service was slow mainly because they expected 1 waiter to cope with 40 odd guests.

The showers in the rooms either didnt work well with no pressure or had no hot water.

Stay at the Swiss-Helhotel Sorong

The Swiss-Belhotel Sorong is a very nice, Western-style hotel with a good restaurant. Our room was pleasing, very clean, and the bed was comfortable. It is a good place to stay before going to Raja Ampat to dive or snorkel. This hotel offers a shuttle service from the airport, which is very helpful, but you have to pay for it.

This has to be the worst 3 star hotel we ever stayed in. We stayed here for 1 night before our liveaboard to Raja Ampat.

Maintenance was poor with significant water stains on the wall under the paint, dirt and stains were found at every corner of the washroom, walls has uncleaned food stains.

Bedsheets and pillow case has significant stains that look like food or blood stains.

Lack of hand towel and soap in the washroom. I would expect a shower towel and a hand towel at least. This is a hotel not a B&B

We arrived at 10am and wanted to see if we could early check in, we were told no rooms are available - very fair. Yet my travel buddy has been offered to early check in at additional cost for the same room type. Interesting.

been in this hotel for the first time 5 years ago, in that time room in good condition but iam afraid by now in our return there this year room have been runned down, curtain ripped and dirty, bed sheet ripped, not so clean bathroom and very bad service at restaurant despite the friendlyness of the staff. Management need to work on improving the standard of the place and give a good refresh to all the rooms overwise the reputation of swiss bel may be only getting more bad. Need to be as good or even better as 5 years ago !!! We will not come back to this hotel next year.

Sorong is NOT a vacation destination. It is a one night stay to get on a liveaboard to visit and dive raja Ampat. Hotels are adequate, staff is adequate if not sparse. Do not expect a resort by any standard (eastern or western). Buffet is adequate.

Only two good hotels in town , this is a fishing village but most divers stay here . Clean and safe , good restaurant , there are no other restaurants near by . They do not exchange money and when we flew in all three atm were out of order so get some money from the bigger airport , you will need it for taxis .

Probably the best place in town

This is surely the best hotel in this wild west Indonesian City. The hotel has an attractive lobby and is clean. Check in and reception was streamlined, efficient, helpful and polite. Receptionist had excellent English. Bar did not have nice drinks. Indonesian selection from restaurant were pretty bad. Chinese soup was good. Western selections might have been ok. Breakfast buffet was not great, but acceptable. The room was about the quality you would expect from an Ibis or similar brand. European style king bed—ie two twin beds smashed together with a fitted sheet holding them together, two separate duvets. Their regular room was small.
