We were at the Posada for 2 weeks. All inclusive. The food for a buffet was the best I think in the 20 years that we have been at Ixtapa. We have stayed at several other hotels, but we prefer the Posada. It feels more family then the others. A lot of the staff have been there for years and remembered us. We like that the hotel is small and we don't spend time waiting for the elevator. The staff are all friendly and the hotel is very clean. Highly recommend. There are two pools and since the hotel is small it is not crowded. At many of the hotels the beach chairs are practically touching each other. I really think you would like this place.

The first two nights I couldn't sleep because of musty smell and the Room was spoiled. Besides, for an all inclusive resorts the Food is very basic. Also the Swimming pool had slime, not very clean. The wifi signal is poor.

We really do like the hotel.

We loved the layout, the service at the restaurant, and the different areas to hang out. Felt reception should explain things more.. Didn't tell us we needed to ask for a safe key, in which the phone didn't work so I had to go ask. No big deal but it should have been covered. The food was cool the 1st 2 days. Our last night (Friday) the food was delicious. I'm sorry but the snack bar was not good. I understand I'm American but when I asked for the tortilla chips the lady grabbed them turned around and dumped some disgusting liquid cheese all over them making them almost uneatable.

The group of friends that I travel with have been going here for the the last 35 yrs. There have been many wonderful new friends made here.
The Resort has remodeled and added new amenities to their services.
The only negative I have is: The entrance to the lobby is up several steep steps and there are no hand rails--the facility is NOT handicapped friendly.

During our stay there was a lot of construction happening, so it was quite noisy. The air con in the first room didn’t work very well and the beds were not very comfortable. There were no blankets or comforters on the beds, just a sheet and a thin cover. The chairs on the beach were also uncomfortable and the sea too rough for swimming. But the food, the the bar, cleaning services, and the staff were all great. The chairs by the pool were comfortable, although there were no waiters around the pool so you need to go get your own snacks and drinks. A nice little discovery was that 100m along the beach you can get a decent massage for $300 for an hour.

Great location and the best pool. However, they treat you like grade school children. They pretty much expect you to be in your room by 10pm. They lack entertainment. The food was bland and the the security personnel is arrogant all they do is watch you and scold you for any bad movement.
Example: they wouldn’t let us use the outside power outlets to connect our portable speaker.

The stay was overall pretty good. The pool has a very nice view to the beach. Food is decent considering it a buffet style restaurant. Bar service is good. Bar hours could be extended in my opinion. Pool bar closes at 5:30 and restaurant bar closes at 10:30. If you are looking for a very relaxed stay, this is it. Not much action going on like at other all inclusive hotels. The beds could be better. Only 3 pillows for a king sized bed (could’ve use the fourth one to have doubles). The shower was clogged, I assume there is too much sand we all wash off, it took time to drain between each shower. Service was excellent! Everyone we encountered was very helpful and attentive. The beach area was also very well kept. You get what you pay for.

Our stay was 3 days and 2 nights at this property. Checking was a bit slow of a process. The front desk though friendly was also a little confusing due to the fact that the package I originally purchased was only for the stay and not for any meals. Once I tried to upgrade my package to an all inclusive the gentleman at the front desk advised me to just buy my meals at the restaurant which I was trying to avoid. Due to the fact that I didn't want to worry about carrying any currency with me all day. I tried to explain but he just brushed me off and continue to help the next guest in line. He also forget to hand me the key to the safe. The wifi password never worked. We tried all 3 phpnes and no luck!! The hotel and are room was clean and the staff was always busy keeping up with it's property. We had a great time at the pool and yhe beach.

The Hotel Posada Real Ixtapa is an excellent mid-range choice in Ixtapa. It is beachfront on Playa Palmar, which is an absolutely gorgeous wide beach with ultra fine light brown sand. Unreal sunsets, diving pelicans, warm-ish water, and not very crowded. The only downside to this beach is that it is quite often too rough for swimming, although the waves are so much fun to stand in ( don’t go over your waist ) and feel the crash of the surf and the thrust of the flow up and down the beach.
The hotel is awesome if you get an oceanfront room, only so-so if you get one pointing out at the parking lot. We thought the all-inclusive offering at this hotel was a waste of money because the Buffet wasn’t all that good and there are excellent restaurants from 1 to 4 blocks away across the main boulevard ( you can see them as your pulling up to the hotel in your taxi or bus, you can’t miss them ). Also, if you were getting all-inclusive for all the drinking you want, you should know that the regular room rate (non all-inclusive ) includes unlimited pop, lemonade, orangeade, coffee, milk, AND DOMESTIC BOOZE!! Yes, unlimited domestic beer, wine, and frosty cold drinks for the beach or swim-up bar are included in the Regular Room Rate. The various vacation operators don’t publicize this because they want to sell overpriced mediocre all-inclusive packages.
The only downside we found was very loud busy nightclubs next door on the weekend that kept us up.
Otherwise an awesome hotel.

Love the options at the resort a and staff. Food was great and we added the Breakfast option this trip and it was always great. Make sure your booking is correct when booking. I only booked for one instead of 2 people in error and did not notice right away. it would have been $10 more a night when I booked and it cost over $50 more at the resort. My mistake but will remember net time I'm going to Ixtapa and may try other resorts due to the way it was handled.

The terrace room we received wasn’t cleaned nor Sanitized. One of my beds had sheets that were not changed. The entire floor in every part of the room was full of hair (bathroom, cups, even walls). When we called reception, we were told the supervisor had to check it, but she never made it to the room. We felt uncomfortable because it was obvious the that if the room wasn’t cleaned then it wasn’t sanitized. We tried calling reception again but they didn’t answer. We ended up taking our luggage and leaving the room especially because of covid. When we got downstairs there were 2 people available and not doing anything. Then the receptionist was rude and tried to lie about the general manager’s availability. They offered to show us 2 other rooms and we settled for one that to say the least it had new sheets but the floor still had hair all over. We asked if it could be swept and mopped before giving it to us. Then when we went into the room we caught 2 cockroaches in the bathroom. To top it off the receptionist would not provide an additional key so that we could explore and come back individually. It was a double room and we were only give 1 key for three people. It should have been at least 2 keys. The general manager had to be called and he was the one to apologize and provide the additional key. Overall, my two nights all inclusive at $422 (using my Expedia discount) was not worth the risk nor the 4 star hotel luxury experience that was advertised.

Enjoyed my stay at the Posada Real. I was pleasantly surprised at check-in that my booking through hotels.com included a beverage all-inclusive plan. The infinity pool/pool bar have extraordinary views of the Pacific! The hotel is walkable to an OXXO convenience store and many restaurants. During my stay (January 2020) some construction was occurring on their rooms facing the ocean which created some noise in the mornings. Most of those newly renovated balcony rooms have been completed and the balconies really add a nice touch if you have the chance to stay in one. Rooms are fairly basic, but clean otherwise. This is a great place if you’re wanting a smaller resort/hotel. Staff was very courteous, especially the bellman.

We love the great location of property since it was almost midway on the beach. You do not have to be on the all inclusive meal plan. It was walking distance to the plaza for dining and etc. The staff were all friendly and nice. My only complain is that they should update and renovate the public washrooms next to the out door restaurant that serves the pool.
The rooms have all been updated and it is very comfortable.

My room and my friend room had a bad smell coming from the bathroom , the mattress was really dirty !!
They need upgrade the rooms it don’t look nothing like the pictures here .
the food are horrible, I found a hair in my salad .
The hotel have a good location and a nice view of the beach , the pool are nice .
But if u care about a clean and comfortable bed and room please don’t book it
I spend 3 nights here and was terrible

Cooling system is a wall mounted heat pump. It was sometimes noisey and rattled. It did not remove moisture from the air and swim suits did not dry in days.

We always stay at the Posada Real because we absolutely LOVE the staff. They are starting to update the hotel. There are new bathrooms and some of the beds are new. We are happy about this and look forward to next year when more updates will be completed.

Have stayed here multiple times over 30 years. Beach and pool are great. Many staff are long term and welcoming. Unfortunately infants and toddlers in diapers are not restricted to the kiddie pool - unpleasant and unsanitary conditions although the staff do try to control. Screamers can also make it unpleasant - parents do not force your children when they do not like the water. Large beach toys should be restricted to kiddie pool as should water guns. We use all inclusive drinks but not meals. The two meals we used this year were poor - a change and disappointment from previous stays. Reserving pool side chairs and lounges and not being in attendance for multiple hours was also a problem.

This may not be a 5 star but staff are fantastic. Fernando's English is crystal clear and he helped us numerous times at the front desk. Ericka and Juan Carlos at the pool bar were always smiling and went out of there way to make our days fun. In the evening Christian was warm and friendly. Beautiful beach and easy walking to town and marina.

Hotel has a beautiful beach. Hotel condition does not match the quality of the beach. The hotel is old and not taken care of. Our rooms bathroom was in very poor shape. Shower dripped, and drain was rusty.
Room sink cracked. Room smelled musty and had that old room smell. We could tell it was a former smokers room. Hotel is very noisey. Entertainment went too late into the night. The check in process took too long. Not enough coverage at the desk.
Food at the buffet was monotonous. The whole hotel needs to be cleaned and updated Not handicap friendly!

Had a great time at the Posada Real, Staff are all very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast buffet with fresh made omelets, fresh fruit, pastries and other breakfast dishes was good. Rooms were fairly good sized, bed a touch hard but not too bad. Met some new friends. Overall it was a great trip. We will be back!

We have stayed here each year of our vacation for many years. Why?
Small resort with awesome pools and view of the ocean. The rooms maybe small and don't have a balcony but we are in the room to sleep not to spend the day. All rooms are within a 1 minute walk to the pool so if you need anything it's quick and easy to get to your room. We typically travel as a couple or family here but meet many new friends on our stay as everyone has always been very social. We eat breakfast here in the mornings which are excellent and typically go experience different places off site for evening dinner. If your not looking for 5star accommodations but a clean budget friendly place I highly recommend the Posada

Love the pool and the ocean beach is awesome!

The swim up bar was a great touch plus the bartenders were very good... loved the towel figures the maid always left us every day... good people. The best sunsets ever!

Great place for a relaxing stay

Rooms not fancy, but we spend our time outside. small hotel with a welcoming atmosphere and great pool and close to beach. Fun and very welcoming staff. Delicious food and drinks. We did breakfast drink package. Would go again.
