At check in he said one word passport then threw the passport's to a colleague. My wife is disabled and needed the lift the lift was broken, I presume that's why he was in a mood they took us to a lift around the back which we used then they locked it up , so we had go find them and get it unlocked . We have stayed here a few times before and the reception staff where great not this time of this is how it is now don't think I will be going again

The most amazing place. The staff really do go above and beyond to make sure the guests are happy. Lovely comfortable rooms. Friendly bar. Delicious food. Great wine list. Secure car park with no height restrictions. I think the experience that confirms my glowing review of the lovely staff came as we were leaving. Breakfast was served from 9 on weekends but we had to leave at 6.30 on a Saturday. We were invited into the dining room 2 1/2 hours early! They explained the hot food wouldn't be ready yet but there were plenty of other goodies including hot and cold drinks to help ourselves to. Unbelievable!

The property was nice and very clean. The rooms and bathrooms were spacious and clean. The breakfast buffet was amazing! The only complaint is that in my 23 years of traveling internationally, the mattress had to be one of the worst I’ve ever slept on (not dirty just extremely uncomfortable). The other guests in our party had the same complaint. It was thin like a couch pull out mattress that had no cushion.

The property was lovely and the restaurant was delicious. We didn’t realize there would be a party outside our window that was very loud, but they stopped right at nine so it didn’t interrupt our sleep. We were disappointed that the beautiful pool was not filled. We were hoping to have a lazy afternoon in the gorgeous pool with the view of the unique building. Overall a good experience.

Looks like a castle, but built circa 2001? Seems to be dedicated to wedding events, - squeze as many guests in as possible. Large, impressive gardens at back but not accessible to 'ordenary' guests. We stayed beginning of April; not very full at all but ended up next door to family inc. small children shouting and running about, had to knock on door at 10:30 p.m. Woke up by dog barking at 6:15 a.m. left 7 a.m. without breakfast.
Staff friendly but bar staff only spoke Spanish. Receptionist on checking out said nothing when we said how annoyed we were that in a hotel with apparently so many empty rooms we ended up between a playroom and a dog kennel. ( I didn't use them exact words but I now wish I had.)

When we checked in they gave us a room that smelled like cigarettes and wasn't even cleaned yet. When going to the desk to ask for a new room the lady told us they were completely full and they would clean it right away. She didn't know I can speak Spanish, she called the maid on the phone and told her in Spanish to clean the room and spray a lot of spray to cover up the smell. I told the lady I want a different room or my money back and we would go somewhere else. About 10mins later she found me in the sitting area and magic, they had another room to put me in. The new room was clean and ready but the perfume smell was overpowering and gave me a headache. Wouldn't stay again

Our first stay was in 2005 when it was first open. For us it is a perfect one-night stop when travelling to our apartment between Valencia and Alicante.

Fantastic hotel when driving through Spain, it's a lovely place to break up the journey the grounds are stunning, there is a swimming pool available for guests you can hire towels for 5 eurossave you worrying about drying, we were given a choice of 2 rooms on arrival we chose the 4 poster bed,which was lovely then we found a suprise behind the door a balcony, evening meal and breakfast were included in the price, food is very good
I would recommend this hotel it's the 3rd time we have stayed here

Beautiful castle hotel

Fun place to be especially with kids. We booked a room and indicated we have a child. We got a room with a regular bed and a bunk bed. My son loved it and was excited that he got to sleep in a bunk bed.
He also loved the fact that he got to sleep in a castle. The venue is also beautiful for parties and weddings. It can get a bit loud if they have a wedding going on if you are sensitive to noise. We didn’t mind and it added to the fun.
Breakfast was a basic buffet with some hot items and continental breakfast. There is plenty of free parking onsite. There are 3 EV charging stations. The hotel charges a flat fee (currently €20) for usage per charge.
Location is off the main highway. It’s about 30 min from the Zaragoza city center. There is not much within walking distance nearby

Three weddings, an anniversary in castle heaven

A break in journey between Bilbao & Javea, also our 51st anniversary. I told the hotel of this and there was a bottle of good cava chilling in our room and red ‘flower petals’ scattered on the floor. I had expected a charge but there wasn’t. Three weddings were being celebrated that day so lots of excitement but zero inconvenience or disturbance.
I was a little concerned that the Castillo effect might be a bit tacky but it is a tremendous atmosphere, with grandeur and attention to detail.
Dinner was great, staff lovely, especially Elizabeth in the dining hall
What more can I say other than I look forward to my next visit !

This hotel is magical. The ambience, the decor, the food - all excellent - but my word was the faux four poster bed mattress hard. The poor sleep we had ruined the whole stay and, sadly, we would not return.

Please, please, review your mattresses and bring them to the quality of the rest of your quite stunning hotel.

First impressions very good from pleasant Reception and a lovely clean room overlooking the gardens . The menu del dia was excellent but then we were unable to sleep because of a celebration taking place in the Gardens playing very loud music . By 1.30 am we’re we’re totally fed up. . I rang Reception to be told the music was scheduled until 4am - not funny when we were faced with a long drive ahead of us . However Reception came up and gave us another room at 2am . The breakfast was ok next day but we were too tired to enjoy it . Im not against anyone having a good time but feel the Hotel should have informed us or put us in a quiet room to start off with

Hotel looks good but cheap inside, very dirty carpets, room service cleaning was rubbish, took towels away and didn't replace them, didn't take empty soap bottles away and didn't replace them, had to go down and ask for more of both. Bin was not cleaned or emptied.
I personally would stay there again

The room was clean but we couldn't open the window for fresh air as the air con wasn't working. the curtains weren't thick enough to block out the flood lights lighting up the hotel. The hotel it's self had character, we've stayed there several times before and the other rooms were better. This stay, the room was very basic.

Interesting building, clean& warm room, comfortable bed. Restaurant food quite good with wine and water included. Plenty of parking adjacent to the hotel. Downsides: Hotel is next to a busy trunk road, so easy to find but constant heavy traffic. The room was at the back of the hotel so noise did not intrude. The en suite was ok but a towel rack had been fitted which almost blocked the entrance to the shower. Also, water from the shower had leaked into the wall causing a wet/damp patch in the main room. Overall, good value for money and fine for an overnight stop.

Quirky castle was great. The staff were very friendly and efficient. We were just doing a one night stop. Great place to stay and relax . Extremely good on price of the room and bar , restaurant prices.
Had a lovely 3 course meal for 15 euros per head .

One night stay for business

Drove to the hotel and found it difficult to turn into the hotel as i approached from the \"wrong direction\" and turning \"left\" across the road was impossible as the road was very busy so i had a 10 minute detour away from the hotel to enable me to turn around and head back to the hotel on the correct side of the road to enter the hotel parking area...(maybe use google maps to see what i mean). The hotel played loud music outside in the garden area which you can hear in the room but it stopped at about half 11. Apart from the music the hotel room was roomy, clean and the bed comfortable, shower water pressure was good. I had my evening meal in the onsite restaurant and i would recommend (good food at decent prices).

This was our second visit to this hotel, the last being a year ago. We thought the cleanliness had deteriorated. The dinner was excellent as was reception but the breakfast dishes were not replenished and there appeared to be no one looking after the buffet. On the bed there was a hard bolster for a pillow. We found other pillows in the wardrobe but they had no pillow slips on so wondered how they are cleaned? Overall we liked Castle Bonavia but feel they need to raise the level of care. The value for half board is excellent

Receptionist and staff not very friendly, And I speak Spanish, I felt like I was bothering receptionist when we were just checking in. Went to bar to order a drink, and staff were just too busy I guess to help us. Hotel is way out of the way from anything. And the one night we stayed there the restaurant was closed. good thing we had snacks with us. Hotel is Ok if you need somewhere to just sleep for the night if you are in between locations.

Unfortunately we picked the night of a wedding to stay and it was noisy. The bedroom walls are thin and the guests loud so not much sleep. Local alternatives to eat almost non existent. Looks nice but wouldn’t stay again.

Great Value - Safe and Pleasant Staff!

This is a great value property that was rescued and redone. I would stay here again - very safe and the staff was friendly and the place was very clean. We were near the highway and not the hotels fault but the windows had to be open (no a/c) and a bus pulled in to get gas at 0445 and it sounded as if everyone on the bus was at a party - it obviously woke us up but its minor. The buffet was great lots of choices - only thing that needs attention is the warmth of the food specifically the eggs. They were not exactly warm but were not \"old\" looking either. Microwave helped :-)

Rather fake castle but still interesting job of it.

When booking they should let you know that the restaurant is closed on Mondays. The hotel is out in the middle of nowhere so food should be available. You have to run across the highway to a truck stop that is NOT a very good option.

Was not expecting too much considering the reasonable rates, however am now left in limbo as to whether I tell anyone how good this place is. Travelling with wife and two boys u13 the modern take on a castle really works. Staff are attentive and good humoured to even basic attempts at their language.

The only negative is there appear to be only a couple of staff working at the bar /restaurant at any time.

Ignore the reviews which say breakfast is poor if you have kids who sneak a couple of e-number rich doughnuts in their pockets this is a great place.

I expect this is a great. wedding hotel and I suspect there are many couples who have had a great day here. The grounds are very nice.

Last comment, menu of the day €14, is the best value in Spain. Absolutely excellent.
