best place for families. so many things to do at the park and a beautiful safe environment. will defiantly be going there again.
also, if you need a break from kids there is an adult only pool so refresh/ recharge and head back to the kids.

Curtains were hanging off the rail. Windows and screens were filthy. Screen door would not slide, main sliding door lock was almost unusable, hard to lock and removing key was a major issue, bedside table was broken , a reading light would have been nice to read with and guidance to bathroom of a night,
Freezer in fridge was a huge block of ice and hadn't been defrosted for a long time.
Roads around park were terrible with massive potholes, area around cabin was untidy and messy.
I would not stay here again for the price i expected more, very disappointed
I also felt there should have been a rail at entry steps, steps were steep and there was nothing to hang onto to get up them

Nice 3 days break with the family

The Big4 was something different for our family of four. It is like an adventure seeing lots of different birds in the premises and listening to the birds every morning was a delight. The kids loved the pool and water park. The two bedroom villa was comfortable and the staff kind. I would like to come back but not in the same villa because it had a very bad odour. We bought an air freshener and opened the windows as I cannot describe how bad the villa smelled. Rather than that, we enjoyed it!

I booked 3 nights. I received absolute NO communication from staff about getting into my room after hours. They claim they sent a text, but I never received one. I tried ringing them at 6.50 pm and again at 8 pm. No answer, only an answering machine which I obviously left my circumstances on.
I believe they double booked my cabin and being peak season, decided to get double money for the cabin. (I booked through Wotif.com) so I had to find alternate accommodation at 8.20pm with my 10 year old son.
The water park is old and lacks pressure with green algae slime creating a slipping hazard for children. The big coloured bouncing cushion is gone. The pool smells of the nearby brown water disposal system. The septic system either blocked up or couldn’t handle the traffic and needed to be pumped out while we stayed and the smell was unbearable.
Being an interstate Dad I have stayed at Howard Springs Big4 over a dozen times in the last 7 years. I won’t stay here ever again.

The property was well serviced and clean, but the mattress was old and soft with body inprints
The shower was mouldy and the shower head was damaged almost no hot water came out even though the hot water pressure is high on all other taps, the shower was next to useless

Stayed in a cabin for most of May 2022. The cabin we were initially allocated was not clean (scum on doors, something spilled on floor and not mopped up, dust and dirt on many surfaces) and it smelled of cigarettes. We told reception and they offered to move us to a different cabin which turned out to be an upgrade. This one was an improvement in terms of cleanliness and smell; and we settled in, unpacking our suitcases for a 3 week stay. The next day we were told a mistake had been made and we would have to pay the additional $1000 to stay in this cabin or we could move back to the original one. The area manager was eventually consulted and it was agreed we would not pay the extra charge.

After a week, all of us had respiratory issues and we discovered the bedroom aircon was full of mould. My son and I were put on medication by a doctor and told to have the aircon cleaned or stop using it. We reported it twice for maintenance but nothing was done nor did the manager come to speak to us about it (we were told that she would). I bought products to clean more mould off window sills, curtains and walls so we wouldn’t get sick again. We stopped using the bedroom aircon.

Outside of the cabin, the jumping pillow is deflated and unusable, the squash courts are locked and inaccessible, the playground has sections taped off as they need fixing (other parts should be taped off too as there are sharp, rusted pieces sticking up on the platforms), many washing machines are out of order.

Just another park, nothing special about it. Cabins getting a bit run-down, need repairs and a fresh coat of paint. 2 room cabin was very tight for space - 4 beds but only a 2 seater couch. Mould and a wood rotted door in the tiny bathroom. Fire blanket not inspected in over 2 years and no fire extinguisher. Booked for 14 nights but had to cancel the last 2 - gave 10 days notice of this but no refund - no discussion, park policy - in these days of Covid pretty poor. Staff attitude and service worst I've experienced. Big 4, BIG 0; Howard Springs never again.

The plumber and front receptionist , asked twice at start of the day before we took off for the day for them to fix the water issue in cabin 39 and for them to call me so I could explain what was happening ( no phone calls ) , very poor water pressure and that it only had hot water or cold it wouldn't mix , and it was not fixed ! Was told nothing was wrong with it when we went back to ask again for a 3rd time , there's gold shavings coming out of the shower head from somewhere in the internal pipework, clearly an issue

We were there for just one night on our way out of Darwin to Lichfield after a days sightseeing in Darwin. Stayed in a cabin which was clean, comfortable and cool! Nice pool and spa area and caravanners with kids seemed very happy. Water splash playground and bouncy jumping pillow keeping kids busy.

Unlike hotels or motels, you have to take your litter bags to a bin point and wash used dishes. Otherwise everything is fine. You can even see peafowls wandering around in the premises!

A small 2 seater couch/lounge would have been more comfortable and had fitted in the roomy cabin also. Overall an enjoyable stay in a convenient location to Palmerston.

Holiday gem

The grounds of the park are lovely, well manicured. We were able to enjoy the pool area. The cabin was wonderful, very clean, well maintained, everything was provided that we needed, we were able to cook meals in the cabin with ease, or grab some takeaway from local businesses. A bonus was all the wildlife that we saw in the park, from little frogs that we saw on the porch to the beautiful peacocks that roam the property.

Not a bad place if you want that sort of thing..

this was the only place available at such short notice for a decent price...wasn't expecting a cabin in the jungle with a bunch of RVs all around. Ants were an issue but they left bug spray in the cabin. the A/C was loud as heck...needed ear plugs to sleep. bed was on wheels.....i toss and turn a lot at night so the bed always worked its way from the wall (no headboard) and causing me to lose my pillow.
bed was comfortable though as was the pillows.
Freezer was overrun with ice/frost....could not put a liter of ice cream in there.
had a visitor scare the heck outta me when i came home...a tree frog ended up in my toilet.....only one way that could have happened.....so i feared the rest of the visit for something else coming up through the pipes.
i just got what i wasn't expecting...i probably should have read up on it more but i was in a hurry.
