The room was very retro, very blue, very cold improved slowly, very very small. The beds were good with electric blanket on 1. Only 1 facewasher for 5 people. There was not enough crockery or cultery for 5 and no capicity to wash up hygienically. The TV did not work.

Sadly the room did not live up to the photos advertising this property. The windows were coated in cobwebs and dead flies and the vanity basin was badly chipped. The bedside lights on the wall were hanging and had apparently been disconnected. The young man who attended to us was very polite and helpful.

VERY noisy trucks outside. Bed was broken, and extremely uncomfortable. Heating wasn’t working, and not enough power points to use the electric blanket. Bed lamps didn’t work. No rail on the top bunk, so kids couldn’t sleep in it.

It is a dilapidated establishment and is not worthy of its current rating,
It bears a sign on front of establishment indicating Restaurant but they do not provide meals - not even breakfast. Cannot recommend this estrablishment.

It was a pleasant stay in a spacious room. The parking on site was a great positive. The room also had a microwave and toaster, which were useful. The room was clean and well maintained. The location was excellent, right at the start of the city and close to parks and shopping centres.

The two main issues were that there was no curtain/blind for the window above the door and the outside lights stayed on all night - meaning the room was lit up all night.
The air conditioner was also a very old window rattler and very noisy to sleep with.

Went to book the hotel and hotel website said it crashed and an error occurred tried to rebook and advised no suitable accommodation available so stayed elsewhere. Then when I checked
my booking it turned out I double booked. Rang the establishment straight away to cancel and the rude owner said the cancellation fee was the full amount. The owner was so rude I would suggest stay here at your own risk. I will be telling everyone I know never ever stay here. Shocking service, bad owners, poor form.

For what we needed - a convenient, clean and comfortable overnight stay on our way to Sydney from Melbourne - our family room at Bushmans Retreat Motor Inn ticked all our boxes.
Yes the place might be on the older side but it was clear the owners are still looking after it, our room probably one of the cleanest spaces we have stayed in in Australia.

The Bushmans Retreat is exactly that, a place to grab a kip after a day on the road. This accomodation was not for me, too outdated with mismatched decor and amenities from the 1960s to the 1990s. The heating was not warm enough and the water pressure from the shower could be improved.

The cleaning needs to be looked into I think, there was a bad smell coming from the bathroom which was most likely the drains, a mark on the coverlet which made me wonder if it had been washed between guests & when I picked up the visitor information folder, it was covered in something sticky. I was also put in a different room to the one I paid for which was probably of lesser value.

If I hadn't just driven for 10hrs, I probably would have left and stayed at another property.

Beat a hasty retreat from the Bushmans Retreat.

Bushmans Retreat Motor Inn at Gundigai is a health hazard. Our original booking was changed to accommodate workmen at nearby construction site. The handbasin is chipped with a large hole and no plug. The sliding window could not be completely closed. However the beds were comfortable and you get what you pay for !

My only issue, and it's a very, minor one, was the lack of crockery and cutlery. A toaster was provided, but, without a plate for the toast, and a knife to add butter, jam etc, what's the point of the toaster?

Apart from that, it's a terrific place to stay. Spacious, clean, and relatively quiet.

The motel is conveniently located and is pet friendly. Bedding and towels were clean however, the tea-towel which covered the tea/coffee/biscuits was stained and dirty-looking.

Buildings are old, out-dated and poorly maintained. Our room had a wierd smell, the bathroom smelled mouldy and is in desperate need of new tiles. The flyscreen posed no barrier to mosquitoes as it was torn and barely connected to the poorly-fitting frame.

There was no one at reception arrival. Had to call them and wait for them to open up. Our room was very old and shabby and whilst the bed was clean the rest of the room needed a deep clean.
On the up side the owners were very pleasant and the shower was hot.
Being pet friendly was a bonus but the cost was high for what was offered.
Would not stay there again unless absolutely necessary.

The Good: Its pet friendly and close to the Hume Fwy on and off ramps.The rooms have a microwave (but no utensils)
The Bad: Where to begin? This property is dilapidated and creepy. The beds are stained and have other people's hairs in them. The water runs hot them cold then hot. The walls are tissue thin and the trucks rumbling past from the truck stop over the road are a sleep issue, as was the distressed dog crying it's brains out for goodly portion of the night. There is a pool that doesn't look like its been swum in for many years. Its miles from any amenities the good folk of Gundagai may have to offer. Seriously over priced for this no-star dump.
