Hotel good, Check out BAD!
The hotel was very good. Clean, modern and spacious rooms. The bar was nice however not very well stocked.
The restaurant on the rooftop was very nice.
At check out however, the accused us of drinking beer from the mini fridge when we did NOT. The manager Omprakash did not accept that it must have been housekeeping that took it. Eventually, we managed to check out without paying but it took a lot of arguing which made us late for out excursion.
Overall nice hotel but I would take pictures of the mini bar every day so you don't get any charges at check out!

Enjoyable stay - maintenance issues

I enjoyed my stay at Leisure Inn Grand Chanakya. The staff was friendly, the room was spacious and comfortable. The breakfast was good. The location is convenient. There are many pluses.
The problem was with maintenance issues. When I checked into the room I found that the toilet was constantly running. I called maintenance and he said that it was fine. Later it did not even flush. The maintenance was called again and I waited for sometime till they fixed the issue. It was fine till the last day when it was constantly running again!

Also, the housekeeping was a little sloppy.

I would have loved to give it a higher rating because even though I enjoyed my stay, it was frustrating to deal with maintenance issues.

We got two single bed which was very small and yes they changed our room but all same size bed. The hall way was smelling very bad due to not washing the carpet.

I opted for king size bed they gave us two single bed room, there was stinking smell in the room and because of that when we changed the room they gave us another room with king size bed but there we were getting smell of tandoor and smoke all in the room. The rooms were not upto mark and a bit disappointing.

Only being able to reserve a king bed or two twin beds is a major risk - we got the two twin beds as that was all that was left, and it was a very small room that smelled mildewy and was dark. We were able to change our room the second night to a king size bed, which was a much larger room that was much cleaner. Overall it seems like the rooms vary depending on the one that you get. There also is no view outside, as the windows are all frosted glass preventing much natural light from coming inside.

The hotel was in a busy location about 25 minutes walk to the heart of the Pink City. Many rooms have no natural light, fortunately mine did. The physical experience was good and the staff very approachable and helpful. I enjoyed my stay there, which was only marred by inefficiencies that caused some concern, notably cars not booked when ordered, and laundry not being collected or returned when expected. Otherwise, a good place to stay in the heart of Jaipur.

We were comfortable both inside and in the neighborhood. The facilities were clean and the food was good. The hotel staff was friendly but we did have to make certain requests numerous times (one to have a taxi take us to the airport). I was surprised this hotel was rated so highly. Any place I've stayed that was above a 4 has been exceptional, so I was very disappointed by what I found here
The rooms were claustrophobic and stuffy. The first one did not have a window, but rather a shuttered door that opened into an air vent. We asked to move rooms to one with a window and they were able to find us one for the second night, which I did appreciate. The second room was actually worse. There was a window with a view of the street, but it was an office style window that was sealed. If we turned the air conditioning off (which we wanted to as it was cool outside) the room quickly became muggy and unpleasant with no air circulation. This room was also under the restaurant, so it was very noisy until about midnight.
We went to have dinner on the roof and were ignored for about 20 minutes. When someone finally came over, it was to ask us to move to a different table. After we moved we we ordered a beer, and they asked if we wanted food. Instead of a menu they brought us a bowl of peanuts, then never came back. I don't know if they don't serve food up there? It was never explained to us either way.
The building itself isn't bad as far as aesthetics, but it is looking worn with stains on the carpets.
This was one of the higher rated hotels we stayed in in India, as well as one of the more expensive, and it was unfortunately the worst
If it had been a 3 and half the price we wouldn't have been so disapointed

There is free Wi-Fi for two devices per room. You can buy more if you want. If you got extra bed, they will give free Wi-Fi for one more device.
The food is good with lots of variety to choose from.
Room number is a bit confusing because the same first number can be in different floor.
Room is clean. Bed is good.

Mould / damp in the aircon, mould on the bedsheets, Room was tiny and I got the better of the rooms.
Rooms are incredibly noisey, no sound insulation and you will not get any rest here.
This is a one star hotel at most, all positive reviews left for this place must be fake.
Had a 6 night stay. All the staff are miserable and lazy. Business room had a broken light bulb, was assured it would be replaced within 30mins in time for a meeting, took 2 hours. 2 hours to replace a light bulb! In the end had the meeting in my tiny, mouldy, noisy room.
Other guests also had mouldy AC & bedsheets, you could feel the spores invading your lungs!
Locations the only pro here, trust me, spend the extra and live a little further out - this place is bad for your health

BEWARE!! Fake water bottles and SCAM!

We are an American couple from Florida. I would NEVER RECOMMEND this place ever. Here is why:

1) we were given a fake water bottle (1 liter) from housekeeping that was opened and refilled with possibly sink water or who knows what. we knew it was opened because the seal was obviously visibly broken and it had water around the lid.

2) toilet paper is never refilled with extras. Each morning we had to ask for a new roll. New rolls are small and thin. this was super annoying.

3) our server, Pankag, screwed us. We ordered drinks during happy hour since it was buy one get one free, and when we requested or next drink, he said only Kingfisher beer was part of the deal. This is not true. The banner clearly states vodka, hiskey, wine and beer are included. we got charged full price for my wine. When I complained to the manager, he also lied and said it was because I didn't order my second drink. He stated it's only BOGO free if I order the second drink, but if I don't, I will get charged full price. I told him I did order my second drink and my server denied me of it. Then he says,\"oh.. Well, it's also because you ordered imported wine. That is not included in the happy hour\". I told him I did NOT order imported wine, I ordered LOCAL. And I only ordered local wine because that is what the server said he only had. In the end, manager never apologized or fixed the problem. I told him I would talk with corporate, as he kept coming up with another bogus excuse.

Very nice and pleasant stay at Leisure Inn

The hotel has a great location. It is situated at M.I. road and a couple of tourist sites are in its vicinity. Raj Mandir is at walking distance. Its close to the railway station and Sindhi Camp bus stand too, which makes it desirable for stay.
The hotel staff was also nice, friendly and supportive. We stayed there with our 1+ yr old kid and during the dinner, one of the staff even offered to take care of our child so that we can have comfortable dinner. During buffet breakfast, they were gentle to serve us on our table. We had snacks, breakfast and dinner at Cafe Viva. The food was great. Dinner buffet offered plenty of choices for vegetarians, but some more non-veg. items could be included in it.
The room service was prompt and nice. The cleanliness and ambiance was great at the hotel.
Overall, we had a nice and comfortable stay.

I will not recommend this hotel at all. We only stayed 2 night but we were ready to leave after the first night it was so bad. Called the reception 3 times and was told somebody will call back but they never did. The service is a bismal don't even know how they got the good reviews with trip advisor.

We really had a fantastic stay here. We arrived from Delhi at 11 am and the upgraded us and allowed us to check in early. The rooms were very large and nicely decorated. There are two good restaurants and a nice rooftop bar.One small issue is that there windows are frosted over making it impossible to see outside, which can be a bit strange. The location is walking distance to the pink city which is great.

Good rooms.. but bad experience!!

We stayed in the hotel on 1st and 2nd April 2015. Check in process was quite smooth. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. Bathroom was of adequate size, if not spacious. But the towels were not fresh at all and had some weird smell. Location of this hotel is also a plus. Wi-Fi offered a decent speed. We even tried their roof top restaurant and the food was good, though the service was very slow. Breakfast was also very good.
The two major disadvantages we found in this hotel are:
1. Their roof top restaurant does its finishing work around midnight, creating lot of noises. It disrupted our sleep to the level that we had to complain at the reception. No action was taken though and this ruined our next day's plan to leave early for Jodhpur because of lack of sleep.
2. If you are travelling by your own car, you'll have to park it on the road, which means it'll be all covered with dust by the morning.

Although hard to find at first, if you say near the KFC on MI road everyone knows that!
Easy to get to many places. Front desk not so pleasant. Had trouble several times and at check out they couldn't get their machines to work even though the internet worked fine in our room.....we had to run to the nearest ATM to get cash before we were scheduled for airport pickup. Good restaurant, good breakfast. Great waitstaff! Nice clean facility!
Easy to grab a tuk-tuk right outside the door and go anywhere in the city.

Beware of unexpected extra charges!!!

please be aware of extra charges. This happened to 2 other people who complained of this while we stayed there. The hotel markets low daily rate but makes up for it with random charges. I paid a total amount through Expedia that included taxes. The hotel claimed that Expedia didn't include taxes which was a blatant lie. The folks at Expedia told me that was absurd too. Also, I had asked how much it would cost to call expedia's US customer service and they quoted 50 rupees per 30 minutes. This was another lie as they charged me more than 3,200 rupees for about 40 minutes.

As I said earlier, as we were discussing our issue with the hotel staff, another hotel patron complained about his unexpected 9,000 rupees in charges.

Separately, I mentioned to one of the managers/owners that this was a horrible experience and I was going to write a negative review to which she responded \"it does not matter to us.\"

Please do not stay at this place, as they are arrogant and shady!!

I am used to being fleeced my taxi drivers but this was more like robbery.

This was definitely my worst hotel experience ever.

This was our favorite hotel from our trip to India. The room and facilities were clean and well kept. The breakfast buffet was good (western and Indian food). Wi-fi was free throughout the hotel. The lady that helps with travel plans assisted us in booking a train to Agra. She was very friendly and offered to book the tickets for us without any commission. However, she ultimately had to connect us with a travel agent who had available tickets because most of the train was already sold-out.

The best feature about this hotel is its location. The hotel is right next to the Pink City and within walking distance of major tourist attractions like the city palace and Hawa Mahal. The hotel is also on a major shopping street and very close to many restaurants.

I would recommend this hotel to friends given the location, cleanliness, and pricing point.

Stayed here for a night on 12/17 .didn't had hot water in the shower in the morning. I had to get ready at 5. Looks like they turn off hot water in the night to save some energy. I had to call the front desk to have them turned on. It happened in the two rooms I booked.the veg restaurant has decent food.

It was not a good stay for us. We made a spa treatment and a hired taxi reservation at front desk upon arrival. However none of them were booked properly. Moreover, we were asked what time we would check out when we approached to front desk on the second day, even though our check out date was on the next day.
We asked for some additional amenities such as shampoo and conditioner, but a staff came to room with items which we did not ask for.
The room service food was not warm enough.
We settled the payment on the last night, since our departure time was really early in the morning. The front office staff told us the receipt would be ready upon check-out. When we went to front office on the departure date, we saw the same front office staff but he did not be ready to give us the receipt. And he did not give us a wake up call even though we asked on the previous night. When we settle the bill on the previous night, we also paid for a car ride to hotel to railway station, he asked us to pay to driver directly upon check-out. Unbelievable experience!!!

Front desk was always busy with answering phone calls.
Their door man was always smiling and very nice!!

If anyone is looking for luxury or vacation this place should be avoided as the location is at the market place and it does not have a Jaipur feel. Its has a corporate look n feel for travellers who come for work. However the rooms are very clean but very cramped up and no ventilation at all. No windows in room gets suffocating. The staff was very helpful and breakfast was good.

The Hotel has been good to stay and the reception staff was so coopertaive and pleasing.
The room was found to be small and congested, but I was staying alone and at the lowest available room, so not sure of the other rooms. But feels adequate. One good thing is there was adequate water pressure in the washroom. The Break fast was very good and dont think any one will be dissatisfied, with the selections you can choose, especially for Indians.
Within the limited facilities the hotel offers a comfortable stay

I stayed at Grand Chanakya for 2 days in April 2014. While the hotel itself is modern, clean and pleasant, this obviously is not a 5-star hotel. For example, there is no pool, and the bell boys are less than enthuastic in finding a cab or auto for you. However, I did have a Western steak meal and it was fantastic. My wife ordered the soup from room service and it was excellent as well. The breakfast spread does not have a huge variety, but it acceptable for 2-3 days max. The map they provide is unclear. Almost hopeless. The in-room wifi was the fastest I experienced in Northen India (including Mumbai & Dehli) over my 11-day trip

Great service, good clean room, fantastic food

Staff went out of there way to serve you, the food was great, european, indian. The bar served different beers and wine, also liquor. The room was spacious and very clean even as the hotel. Fantastic rooftop were you can eat and drink. It was a delight to stay there, out of the traffic and noise. The location was good, could walk to the pink city.

Super clean and comfy and great staff!

We were happy to stay here, the place feels like a little oasis in the craziness of India. Super well maintained and all the amenities we needed. We ate a lot of food at the restaurant and really enjoyed the quality of the meals. The only bummer was no window in our room, but overall I would recommend this place.

Had a wonderful stay.

Location is too good for people likw me,who intend to shop when in jaipur.
Its a very good hotel for the tarrif they charge.staff was courteous.
Room was small yet well designed. However,would have preferred a window with sliding door,rather than an opeque glass.
Good spread for the Breafast.little disappointed with the dinner we had, Margarita pizza tasted bad,I must say bad coz we couldnt finish a single slice of it.however mint lychee drink was refreshing.

Lunch at grand chankya was finger licking good.food quality was good and staff was attentive

This hotel was really 5star service. although the restaurant was a bit more pricey than the others I have been to this hotel was quiet, incredibly clean and comfortable. the greatest selling point of this hotel would have to be its locations. there are lots of shops within walking distance. I cant stress enough how nice and clean this hotel was.

firstly it was tough to find the hotel location as the reception on phone could not identify the sorrundings. The check-in process was quick and good. The room was good and clean so was the bathroom. But when we used the shower next day, it had to face the trouble due to bad plumbing. Later during check-out we had talk with Chief-Engineer of the hotel and we had some technical talks. Nice Hotel, value for money

We had a wonderful stay there for 2 nights. Rooms were exactly as shown in pics - neat, nicely decor and with required amenities.

Initially there was some issue with our booking (which we did with Expedia) and it was found to be not updated in Hotel database while we checked-in. We were however allowed to check-in and later after few follow-ups done by Hotel staff with expedia, it got sorted out.

I must say services here are apt and totally value for money. Hotel ambience is also cool and it also provides good connectivity to nearby tourist places and railway station.

Buffet breakfast was excellent and certainly was to best way to kick start your day with so much variety of breakfast dishes.

Would surely recommend this Hotel to others.

Great location. Relatively cheap but has nice amenities for the price. Posh. Quiet. Excellent breakfast, lots of options & great food taste. Rooms are a bit small in size but have great interior finish.
