Honesty is the best policy

The Hotel is obviously in new hands the room was fresh.
Ate in there the first night , then cancelled breakfast for the rest of the stay as the standard of food was poor mainly deep fried.

Food was great , room was large and our family loved the fact that as soon as we arrived the staff were more than helpful getting all our wedding stuff out of the cars and into the room

Mixed experience

The hotel has been refurbished to a high standard but there appears to be little attention paid to standards of customer service. A number of items were not available on the food menu although food served was good pub standard .Requests for items for the room were not met by housekeeping staff until further requests made. Room including bed not re-made during 3 night stay. This may be acceptable on New Years Day but not on next day. When bookings are taken for the festive period guests should expect that hotel would be staffed and services available to cover their stay. Clean towels were provided when requested. Some staff were very helpful and efficient but others do not appear to give the hotel much of a priority. Could be it was a bad time of year to visit but the festive period is surely important to the hospitality trade.

OK but could be better

Hotels.com showed a 14.00 check in but it was only from 15.00. We waited in the bar and eventually we were taken up. The room had been ready from 12.00 so completely unnecessary to have kept us waiting. The room was clean and functional but will be staying elsewhere on our next stopover in Moffat

Noisy live band til late every Friday night

Our room was small but comfortable. Breakfast was really good, especially the porridge and omelettes. We know that when you stay in a pub it can be noisier than a hotel or B&B but it would have been good to have been warned at check in that there would be a live band playing until 12.30am in the bar which was immediately beneath our room. It wasn’t mentioned at all, and yet it apparently happens every Friday. Be prepared if you book for a Friday night that you won’t get much sleep as the amplified music and the crowd joining in with the singing will keep you awake until the early hours

OMG Amazing! Wish we had booked longer. Nothing was too much trouble for the lovely staff. Room was just beautiful. Amazing food. Perfect spot and so comfortable. Can't wait to go back. VERY HAPPY. Moffat is just beautiful also.

This was a lovely stay and staff were friendly. Has a nice and relaxing bar area which was full of lovely people. The room was average but booked room for a king bed and ended up with a room that had two single beds put together which was disappointing.

Good South west 300 stop over.

Lovely place , loved the decor ,the ambiance and food.
Room was clean lovely done out , had everything we needed.
Best to book breakfast and evening meal if needed.
Both were really nice.
Moffat is a beautiful town , very relaxed walk about.x

Fantastic stay in a fantastic place. The room was clean, the food was fantastic, fully recommend the sticky (Moffat) toffee pudding best I have ever tasted!!!
There is a nice gin bar next door and Moffat offers plenty for a short stay

We had booked the junior suite but on arrival it was not available. This was a bit of a let down but an alternative room was offered which was really nice. The staff were friendly and professional. Food in the restaurant and at breakfast was fresh, tasty and good value. Definitely plan a return visit.

Lovely room. Needs a mirror in the room one only in the bathroom. Also we stayed for two nights and they didn’t replenish the shower gel and shampoo. Which we had used and The empties left in the shower.
Bathrobes were a nice touch. Staff lovely. Food good portions and very tasty.

I cannot recommend a stay at this hotel

Be aware, you may not get the room you book…
We booked a so called: ‘Deluxe room with King sized bed’, but the room allocated was nothing of the sort. The bed we had looked smaller than a double. Upon our request to be moved to the room we booked the proprietor argued that we did have the deluxe room and it is a King sized bed (rubbish). Furthermore he could not move us, as they were fully booked. Upon further challenge he refused any refund of the difference in room price, nor any other form of compensation (e.g. meal discount).
Room heating - inoperative.
Bathroom hot water - scolding hot (really – too hot!, my wife has a burn blister on her hand)
Breakfast - average, serving staff (aside from the impromptu helper) were frantic.
I cannot recommend this establishment.

Smart updated Inn / some issues

Smart updated and clean room. Curious green light on ceiling so never dark in the room which affected sleeping. Duvet too thick and asked to pay before I even saw the room. I explained that it was customary to pay for accommodation AFTER you had used it.

Last minute overnight stay due to family illness. Arrived just before restaurant was due to close, chef prepare us a meal which was lovely. Lovely spacious room freshly decorated. Woke to a pipping hot breakfast in the morning. Will definitely return

Well all I can say is what a little gem of a place. Very comfy, modern rooms with great spec bathrooms. The rooms were spotless and we enjoy two meals during our stay which were very nice too. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, nothing was too much trouble for them. Will definitely be coming back.

Clean modern accommodation with cosy pub in keeping with Scottish decor. Staff friendly and food good but could do with a bit more variety on menu although the pies were lovely. Room we had was a tad too small for the price and could do with mirror in bedroom area for doing hair. All in all good accommodation and well worth a stay

Was merely an overnight stay. Hotel has had a recent refurb so was really nice. Food was nice and well prepared but menu is a little limited unless you like pies, I do so was fine. Breakfast was very good and sustaining. The saturday I was there was busy and there didn't seem enough staff so service at check in and eating was slow.

We can't say enough good things about this hotel- it was comfortable, clean and the staff were wonderful. Location was idea for exploring the town and the surrounding areas and the restsaurant/pub at the in. Was fantastic- great food and even better service. The staff were warm and friendly and breakfast was well worth the cost as well. We will definitely return!
