This was an excellent spur of the moment stop during our road trip through Norway. The rooms were clean and comfortable (heated bathroom floors were an added bonus). The staff were polite and amicable, provided excellent service and the breakfast was fantastic. Would recommend this hotel highly to anyone who needs a good place to stay for the night!

The Gloppen Hotell is lovely in every way. The room was beautifully decorated, modern, spacious, and clean. The bed was incredibly comfortable. The view from our window was priceless. We loved everything about this hotel. Breakfast was quite special. The selection of foods was vast, so beautifully displayed, and delicious. Everything about the Gloppen Hotell is grand!

Booked this hotel because it served dinner late on Sunday. Emailed hotel to let them know arrival time and make dinner reservation. When we got in, 45 min before restaurant was to close, told us restaurant was closing early but could make a plate for us. Put bags in room, came down and was told they made a mistake and no meals available. Saw staff eating our meals afterward. Sent in pouring rain to dingy pizza place for soggy pizza. Hotel is dated. There are better options.

We arrived at 2:00 and were told by the man at the desk that our room was not ready. A woman came out from the back room and said there were other rooms available that we could have. Great. The room was clean, bed comfortable, however the coffee machine did not work and it took nearly ten minutes for the lights in the room to come on. Cleaning woman said this is normal. Food was expensive and portions small. Thankfully, there was a great restaurant just in town called the \"MonaLisa\". Manager was awesome and salmon and beef were wonderful. Back at the hotel we asked if there was a washer/dryer on the premises for guests. The woman at the desk said yes, and bring clothes down and she would show us where they were. When my friend arrived at the desk, the man was back and said there would be a charge for laundering the clothes and the staff would wash and dry them. We said fine. Later that evening the clothes were returned in the duffle bag just as we were headed out to dinner. Upon returning to the hotel we discovered that the clothes in the duffle had been shoved into the bag wet and wrinkled. We had to take everything out of the bag, shake them out and lay on available surfaces in the room to dry. I went down to the desk to talk with the attendant. She was not a manager and apologized for our experience. I asked her to leave a note for the manager in the morning. In the morning they offered to take the clothes back and dry them. We will not be returning.

Got into our room and some of the lights and the tv were not operational. Was told that they just installed the new tvs but that the “guy” still had to set them up and wouldn’t be back h til later in the week (like that would help us during our stay) it was suggested that I use my own computer (on vacation…don’t have one with me) we also Asked to use a computer/laptop to assist with getting a wifi device updated and was told no, we don’t do that here.

Food - if you aren’t there hiring high season, there was only one food option if you didn’t want to eat at the hotel which had a special limited menu.

I’m sure it’s a lovely place during high season…

worst experience i've ever had.

based on the 100s of reviews already given i don't think, that my stay is what is to be expected, but the worst case scenario...
first: the standard rooms are not what I expected based on their website (and i don't think most would). that might be on me, because if i had considered the price i should have adjusted my expectations. and the standard rooms aren't standardized either which i saw after i complainted and asked if I could still change my booking to a diffrent room category (didn't ask for a free upgrade). the front desk staff is super nice though.

the cleanliness has a quite poor standard. my room had bird poo on all the windows, some hair on the cabinet, a stain on a towel, big blue stain in the shower (one of those showers where you flood the whole bathroom), some holes in the wall that weren't poorly fixed (sometimes old rawlplugs visible), marks on the wall, shower curtain is starting to get red on the bottom and the fur on a chair looked as if it has never been cleaned.

the icing on the cake were the drawers, which weren't cleaned out. how do I know? because there was still (dirty?) underware from the last guest in there!

Utrolig flott hotell med magisk stemning. Flott plassering i fjorden, men tilkomst til mange flotte fjellturer. Fantastisk middag og hjemmelaget kakao på etterspørsel. Frokosten var også god og utvalget stort!

Nice view but don’t et your hopes up on service

The room and bathroom was very clean, coffee machine was not functioning; I didn’t eat dinner at hotel so no comment on that.
The fast charging stations (3 in total) were only suitable for Tesla car and it wasn’t working on others.
They didn’t have/accept late check out. In overall its price looks high in compare to received service.

Sweet hotel with great service and food

This is a nice little hotel in a beautiful area, with friendly service and a really great restaurant. The only downside is that the rooms aren't all of equal quality, and the one I stayed in, a single room in the more modern wing, left a little to be desired, and wasn't nearly as charming as the main building would have you expect. Painted brick walls detract from the coziness somewhat, and the bathrooms are very basic, the kind where there's no partition for the shower, just a flimsy curtain. I would still recommend the hotel, but maybe try not to end up in that section.

A great find and lovely stay. It was nice to have two chairs to sit with the window open and relax after driving. A lovely hotel with an amazing breakfast. Easy walking for shopping and a park close by to further enjoy.

Det började inte bra. Vi blev tilldelade hotellets sämsta (?) rum, en mörk trång skrubb inklämd i ett hörn mot hotellets baksida helt utan utsikt. Vi bor ofta på hotellboende har märkt att när man bokar genom någon av de stora bokningssidorna har vissa hotell satt i system att erbjuda sina sämsta rum.
Mot några hundra kronor extra kunde vi byta. För nästan 2000 kr fick vi ett större men iskallt och lyhört rum. När vi satte på de gamla elelementen förvandlades rummet till en bastu.
På plussidan var sängarna och frukosten.

Lytt og vanskelig å slappe av.

Fin natur.

Veldig lytt på rommene og man hører naboene prate. Housekeeping bråker mye om morgenen og dårlig med søvn, da det var arbeid med støvsuger om natten som durer i hele hotellet.

Fryktelig lite og lytt eldre rom. Aldri våknet så mye av støy på et hotell.. Fra veien da. Gikk ikke an å dusje uten fukt i hele rommet å klissvått gulv på absolutt hele badet. Ikke mer en ok frokost, men kanskje jeg kom litt sent.. var det en time før frokosten stengte men.

Fint hotell.

Ærverdig hotell i sentrum av Sandane. Rommet var fint, grei størrelse, god seng og fint møblert. To gode lenestoler, bord og skrivebord. Der var mange lamper, men dårlig belysning... sengelampen satt så langt unna senga at det var umulig å lese. Badet var ganske stort, men manglet mulighet til å koble til hårføner/barbermaskin. Og det var ikke noen form for dusjdør, så hele badet ble søkkvått. Pluss for varme i badegulv og radiator på rommet. Vi spiste middag, og den var god, men i overkant dyr. God frokost med varmt og kaldt, veldig godt utvalg an det meste. Koselig uteplass foran hotellet, og hyggelig betjening.

Nous avions pris cet hôtel comme halte pour une nuit.
L’hotel est beau extérieurement,la chambre correcte mais la salle de bain très peu pratique ,aucune étagère pour y placer nos affaires de toilette,une douche avec une paroi repliable qui dès que vous vous douchez arrose toute la salle de bain.Il a fallu que nous demandions des serviettes pour éponger le sol!

Gloppen hotel har en unik atmosfære med sans for detaljer, alt fra interiøret til friske blomster på rommet og levende lys og hvite duker på bordene i frokostsalen.
Frokosten var en sanselig opplevelse med diskret pianomusikk i bakgrunnen og fantastisk hjemmelaget mat. Gode gluten- og melkefri alternativer.

Overall a good hotel, with pleasant and helpful staff and a pretty good restaurant. The bathroom in the room was the letdown, being poorly designed with regards to the shower, and also being way too hot, as if the floor heating thermostat wasn't working.

Fantastisk hotell som trekkes ned av lokale rånere

Dette var et utrolig flott hotell med fantastisk service og frokost! Vi følte oss veldig godt ivaretatt av de ansatte, hadde et koselig rom. De gav det lille ekstra, med velkomst drikke og gave til barna. Så det var fryktelig synd at de lokale rånerne skulle ødelegge for noe som kunne vært et fantastisk opphold på hotellet. De var spesielt to biler som kjørte gjentatte ganger forbi hotellet med plagsom høy musikk, dette drev de på med store deler av dagen og sent på kvelden. Noe som ødelagte det koselige oppholdet i hagen til hotellet i løpet av dagen, og fratok oss nattesøvn på kvelden. Vi ble også holdt våken til kl.4 på natten av høy musikk og fulle høylytte personer som oppholdt seg utenfor hotellet.

L’albergo é molto bello, la colazione era in delle salette molto accoglienti, con un ottimo Buffett.
La nostra stanza era confortevole, letto molto comodo, spaziosa.
Vicinissimo alla riva, supermercati e ricarica per le macchine elettriche.
Una bella passeggiata in riva a poca distanza. Noi siamo stati solo di passaggio, ma é una zona che meriterebbe qualche giorno di escursioni. Strategica per raggiungere Loen e il parco nazionale Jostedalsbreen e la visita al
ghiacciaio. Tutto dista circa un oretta di auto. Super consigliato!

Flott hotell.

Dette er et usedvanlig flott hotell, gammelt og ærverdig, og nydelig pusset opp med rom i både historisk og moderne stil. Rommene har god størrelse og fine møbler, men mangler kjøleskap. Det er vannkoker og te/kaffe. Fint bad med varmekabler. Stor, deilig hage og parkeringsplass, også el-billadere. Vi spiste middag på hotellet, og den var veldig god! Frokosten var også god og variert, men litt dårlig utvalg i allergimat. På forespørsel fikk vi brød og smør.

war envom zimmer sehr enttäuscht - müssten die vorhänge immer geschlossen halten - weil sonst einsicht gewährleistet wurde - bei der bestellung vom zimmer wurde mitgeteilt - Barrierefreiheit – Haltegriff neben der Toilette und rollstuhlgeeignet - leider war beides nicht gegeben !!!!

Søvnløs natt pga uanonsert konsert på hotellet

Hadde jeg på forhånd visst at det skulle være utekonsert på hotellets område, så hadde jeg aldri valgt dette overnattingsstedet denne gangen. Etter lange møtedager og flere i helgen , var det umulig å slappe av på rommet og i natt pga all støyen fra bandet som spilte. Dette burde vært annonsert på forhånd! Jeg reiser herfra nesten søvnløs i dag, jeg føler eg har betalt dyrt for ei søvnløs natt. Velger nok ein annen overnattingsplass neste gang eg er på Sandane. Skuffet , da jeg har vert rimelig fornøyd her tidligere .

A very charming hotel

We had a great stay at Gloppen Hotell. We stayed in the classic rooms in the old part of the hotel which are very charming. The sizes of the rooms vary in size and layout so you may get lucky and get a quite big room, or you may get a smaller room with only roof windows.
The staff had a really positive attitude, but the service can probably best be described as \"entertaining\". As all hotels now have opened up again after being closed due to Covid they have difficulty getting experienced people to work for them, and most of the people serving us clearly lacked experience (not knowing what they served etc). I'm sure this will get better with time. The food was great but the menu is the same every day which can be a problem if you stay several days (and there is not many other options in Sandane). The reception can help you adjust the menu so you don't get exactly the same several days in a row, but this information had been lost when we started dinner the second day. (And also they information that one of us had gluten allergy had to be delivered several times during the meal.)
Overall a very positive impression and I'm sure the minor hiccups will get better over time. Book the classic rooms if you can and be sure to visit Trivselskogen when you are in Sandane.
