I've been to various parts of Alabama 9 times in the past 4 years, so I have a decent perspective. At the price point I paid, I was nervous about the building and room potentially being a nightmare, but this was totally not the case. The front lobby was always freshly mopped and smelled good as soon as you walked in. All staff was extremely pleasant. My room seemed like it had new flooring and was clean. Only small complaints were the mattress was unsupportive and a bit uncomfortable and breakfast items like muffins and yogurts were not well-stocked all the way through 9am. This location is also central to places like Publix, Chick-fil-A, Walgreens, etc. If you're thinking about staying here, don't hesitate.

The room looked freshly redecorated and looked very nice. However, my sister went into the bathroom around 10:30pm and saw two small roaches. When I went into the bathroom around 2am, a full size roach crawled from behind the mirror. That morning, a roach crawled across the night stand and one also crawled across the headboard of my sister’s bed. At that point, we started to repack to prepare to checkout. My niece then saw another roach in the corner of the room. (Photo is attached.)
When I went to the front desk to cancel the rest of our stay, I told the front desk person about the roaches and said to her “you all really need the do something about the roaches here”. Her response was that “I will let him know when he comes in”. At no point did she apologize or even seem shocked. She asked if we wanted another room and I refused.

The room was clean but smelled musty. The bed closest to the window made a noise every time I got up or down, like the base wasn't level. Finally, the a/c unit made a vibrating noise every time it cycled on, which kept me awake for a while. The staff was very friendly.

Two issues were immediate. the bathroom door squeaked and, more important, the bed had a metal apron around the mattress platform. Every time we got into bed or moved afterwards, a high pitched drum sounded! Housekeeping almost immediately dealt with the door but nothing could be done about the drum sound. Put up with it for 5 nights.
Lastly, there was a prominent clamminess in the room and on furniture surfaces. Couldn't figure out why until right before we left, we noticed the bathroom vent motor never came on! Code violation? Maybe the moisture from showering accounted for this condition. We unfortunately didn't notify staff. Despite these issues, we would stay again.

It was terrible. They were remodeling the place and it was a MESS. the First floor was card boarded on the floor, there was a REPAIR TRAILER in one of the Handicapped Parking spots and the tools, extension cords etc were scattered across the walkway. Our room (that was reserved in ADVANCE) was not available and we were given a room with 2 Queen Beds. The FREE BREAKFAST was VERY LIMITED HOWEVER, (MS. CORA) WAS HER USUAL PLEASANT SELF. We left one night earlier than we intended and would like to be REFUNDED for this.

I’ve stayed in places around the world from hostels, chains, mom & pop establishments to 5 star hotels. I can sleep just about anywhere under most any conditions. However, I have never tried to sleep on a mattress as terrible as the one provided here. It was literally like trying to sleep on a concrete floor with no padding whatsoever. Maybe at least try some kind of mattress pad? Additionally, the sheets and pillow cases were obviously taken out of the dryer before they were ready, resulting in a “clammy” feeling. Wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone trying to get a good night’s sleep.
