A couple of disappointments upon check in: 1) We rented a cottage that was listed to have 2 double beds + 2 twin beds. We actually had 3 twin beds and 1 double. 2) we were given no ice bucket or complimentary water (pretty common anywhere you go)

Our cottage was nice and cozy. The property itself is very nice and offers plenty of options. Great location, close to everything you need. The breakfast was perfect and hats off to our server for breakfast and the bartender, I would give them both 5 stars but the front desk staff more like a 3.

We did spend a bit of time trying to chase a mouse out of our cottage in the evening but was not successful, so he's still there somewhere. Overall I should say this stay was not what I would expect for the price I paid and I'm sure it's even more expensive in peak season.

Unfortunately, the Pines is in need of significant repairs and renovations to modernize this former Nova Scotia landmark. The boiler was undergoing repairs and no hot water was available in the rooms. We did receive an upgrade to a room with Ocean view.The carpets could be shampooed and dents in the moulding as well as flaking paint could be easily repaired. No wi fi was available. Dinner was excellent. Staff were friendly. We would consider returning but we would choose a cottage instead.

For the price we paid we were disappointed with the lack of amenities… even finding coffee this morning was an issue. The room was not set up for the four people booked into it. The walls so thin I could hear the person in the next room snoring. Overall it is not worth the hype!

All negative reviews you can find about rooms and the state of property are overall accurate.
Stuff members at the reception desk are nice and helpful to the best of their abilities. The main reason why I give 1 star is that I couldn’t sleep due to cleaning person performing his duty from 03:30 to 06:00. I was woken up in the middle of the night by a loud sound of what appeared to be a commercial vacuum cleaner. Once it was done the cleaning person was going back to forth to a utility room to dump dirty water and refill his bucket with clean water. The bucket is also a commercial one with wheels that was making a lot of noise when dragged across ceramic tiles floor. It was a waste of a night that made the following day much harder.

We had a wonderful stay at the pines for my wife's birthday.

The staff were courteous, and super helpful. They went above and beyond to make the evening special, including chocolates and a birthday card waiting for us in our suite.

Churchill's restaurant was amazing, and there also the team went above and beyond.

This was not our first time staying here, and it definitely won't be our last. Highly recommend!

The reception agent, Rexon, was amazing. Very informative and offered his assistance when needed.
The room was great; very clean, comfortable bed and chairs. Beautiful antique desk.
My only issue was pertaining to my husband. He usually walks with a walker, but to get inside we had to walk to the other side of the hotel and take the elevator up.
After that he used his cane, which he is not as steady on. He went out the main door and had to hold onto the railing which is covered with beautiful Christmas decorations. He had to search for a clear piece of railing to hold onto. Because the stairs were so wet, I had to hold the railing as well and found the same issue.

Other than that, we had a wonderful stay. Thank you.

Noelle at front desk was excellent. We staying in main building. Bed was VERY comfortable. Although it is an older building, it was still pleasant. Walls NOT soundproof. We could easily hear the people next door talking even though they were not talking loud, and could even hear their phone notifications. Hauling luggage up the stairs at front entrance and to room floor was a bit inconvenient. Food in restaurant was good and appreciated the complimentary breakfast. Overall I was happy with the accomodations.

The staff were so helpful! Terry took us on a tour of some of the cottages and we were able to find a great one for next summer. We booked it and can’t wait to come back. The evening manager and front desk clerk on Nov 5 were also very helpful with tips and suggestions of where to go in the area and provided us with some brochures as well.
The server Nov 5 for dinner at the restaurant ( think it was Aurora) was very sweet and attentive.
We also had a a great complimentary hot breakfast that was served by a fun person ( believe They were named Adam?)
Our room was clean and had a great view of the water.
Can’t wait to return!

Issue with plumbing where the toilet would be running for a good hour after being flushed. For some reason the hall outside our door was being vaccuumed at 11:50 pm which kept us up after a long day of travel. Two luggage racks to store suitcases which was a nice touch. Some pros, some cons. Older clientele during our stay.

The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The cottage that we stayed in was very dated and maybe clean but it was hard to tell because it was so dated. The couch was filthy and the mattresses were very soft and lumpy. There are no kitchens and only a mini fridge in the cottage. It all worked for us, but it wasn’t the best hotel stay I’ve ever had sadly.

Parking was easy, no issues finding a spot. We loved that it was a CP hotel back in the day and the architecture of the place is beautiful. I think the dining chairs were original to the building and I love them!

The only issue we saw (heard, actually) was a constant beeping somewhere near the front desk. Didn’t affect us in our room or in the dining room, but it was a bit of an irritant if you were on the main floor. However, it won’t stop us from staying here again!

This “resort” is dated, dirty, worn out with broken furniture and lumpy twin beds as their norm in each room
The photos shown online must be a secret room they keep hidden - because they did not exist in our booking
The bathroom tap was an explosion of after that sprayed everywhere
The windows were cracked and broken and did not open
The floors were dirty and grimy
Each cottage smelled worse than the previous one
Like an old forgotten rotting momento forgotten in the attic
We paid a small fortune for this room through Hotels.com, it was supposed to be a treat for us after weeks of travelling the east coast - it was terrible
I was afraid to sleep in the bed, although the sheets were clean the bed was old and wobbly - the sheets smelled over powering with the scent of cheap laundry soap
My husband slept in the bed beside me which was a full, mine was a twin
We didn’t have coffee in the morning in the room because we didn’t trust the water quality from the plumbing
This resort boils be stunning
Instead it was disgustingly dirty and worn out a remnant from the 50’s with broken stained furniture
The only upside was the restaurant
We had a wonderful meal which helped ease our dread at the prospect of sleeping in that gross cottage

I put in 2 noise complaints since my fiancé and I could not sleep because of the noise above us! The noise stopped after 1am and I put in the complaints before midnight!
The night auditor did not seem to care considering I was paying close to 300 dollars for the night!! The security person had more sympathy and compassion

Too long of a line to check in as a very large group showed up all at the same time in front of us. They should have had a different counter for regular check ins. The duvet cover was all matted and lumpy and pillows cases were all very wrinkled. Bed did not look like it should in nice hotel. The restaurant food was very good. The staff was very professional! Room was old and not well maintained. There was no fan in the bathroom and both the tub grout/caulking and sink tap surround had seen better days. (Not well cleaned) The windows were mildewed. The toilet flush broke when flushing so I had to take the top of the tank and pull the flap. Glad we only stayed one night.

The Hotel was amazing, our room not so much. We were initially put by the elevator which was very noisy and the bedding was lumpy. Things improved when we were moved across the hall. Breakfast was incredible. Service was good. The elevator stalled for a period requiring suitcases had to be moved down stairs but assistance was provided.

The hotel is vintage for sure, is in a beautiful.location, and does well to keep it's character and heritage...but it needs upgrades. The bathrooms in the suites need refreshing (old fixtures, rust in some areas, very small and cramped) electrical outlets on the desk unit needed replacing (coffee maker kept tripping the breaker in our room). The elevator stopped working during our stay. The cleaning service to our room was somewhat lapse (forgot to change our towels). Overall, it was not worth the money that we paid.

The historical aspect is stunning however we decided to overnight to re group after a busy event with highlights of a hot shower and relaxing TV. Terrible stay at The Pines, Digby 09/14-16/25
•At our arrival, there was no handicap access available for 8 steep front steps because the one and only handicap access was through an elevator that was broken and stayed unavailable for the 2 days we were there. There was no backup for handicap individuals.
•No valet service was available to take our luggage up the front steps; two good samaritans took our luggage up.
•No same level first-floor room was available, so we had to go up 8 more steps.
•We had asked for a room with 2 beds; none was available, so we had to use one bed.
•In the morning, we left the door sign to have the room cleaned. We returned at 4pm and the room had not been done. After 3 calls to the front desk, and waiting 1 hour, we finally got clean towels.
•We wanted ice but only available on the 2nd floor with no elevator access. The person who brought the towels was kind enough to get us some ice.
•Most horrible hotel experience we’ve had in all our years of travel in North America, Europe and Asia.
•$400 a night is utterly outrageous for this kind of horrible accommodations and service. After talking to the manager, she gave us one free night.
•Not having handicap access, and no back-up, is a major health hazard and likely a provincial transgression.

We had a wonderful time at Digby Pines Golf Resort. The dining experience was excellent, and breakfast was especially enjoyable. Our first-floor room was comfortable and convenient, and the view overlooking the Digby area from the dining room and back terrace was absolutely outstanding. We also treated ourselves to massages at the spa, which were very relaxing and well done. Overall, a fantastic stay—we look forward to returning!

Very disappointed with our stay at Pines,we booked a Room at the Hotel but because they were fully booked with Groups they moved us to the Cabin,this Cabins are in very rough shap and not in any kind of shape to be used as Hotel Room replacement.
We complained to the Manager and he completely agree with us and is willing to reimburse $100 for each Room but he says it has to go thru HOTEL.COM
