Buffet breakfast was awesome.! Staff were very helpful and tried to solve our problems…#1- heat pump stuck on cool..provided extra blankets
#2- unable toget into bed as the mattress was the very high ( I am 5-6) provided a stool and offered to change rooms..which was not practical as we were very tired and ready to sleep! Once I finally got into bed it was very comfortable.
I have stayed at The Pines before and have had no problems but this time…I was disappointed

The buffer breakfast was the best thing and the staff in dining room were really nice. The hotel is very run down, paint peeling, curtain linings rotten, so outdated, terrible shame. Swimming pool a disgrace, it’s crumbling, they should remove the mess in the pool at least to show they are actually trying. The whole thing needs to be replaced.

The room was clean and in good shape. The bathroom had been updated with no mold or issues but was small. The main floor was beautiful and had a lovely room off to the side with a gorgeous view of the bay. Great place to relax and enjoy a coffee. The dining room is very attractive and the breakfast buffet was good. The Eggs Benedict was great and the staff was very attentive. The building is historic so it does have issues. The outside leaves a little something to be desired. I did some research and understand it's under new ownership and they have plans to revamp everything. You can see some of the things that have been done but there's still lots more to do. Some of the buildings when you first enter the property are very run down. On the main building, window sills are crumbling and it needs painting. The tennis court is overgrown with weeds and hasn't been used in years. Dead shrubs need to be removed. There is a lookout point of the harbour across the street. The deck there should be tidied up and an extra chair added. It's a very expensive project and the staff seem to be trying to showcase what is good. Give them a chance. Note the building is not very handicap friendly.

We had a three night stay and we were upgraded to a 2 bed room cabin. The decore and furniture were dated and worn, but there was ample hot water and water pressure.

We had most of our meals in Churchills. The (included) breakfast buffet had many options and the eggs Benedict was the best I've had at a buffet. Unfortunately, the staff appeared disorganized and overwhelmed. For example, I waited 8 minutes for utensils one morning. We had the prime rib special on Friday. It was very good and the service from our server Ting was flawless.

We were disappointed the pool wasn't open for the season. If a pool is important to you, you should confirm it's open before booking.

Digby Pines is the Grand Lady of Digby. I sm smitten. It has such history and still has maintained it grandness. The rooms (and plumbing) have the old hotel charm. It is no longer a full five stars but it is a stunning building, with beautiful grounds. The bedding was superior, the rooms were clean and it was lovely sitting in their beautiful breakfast room taking in the spectacular harbour. Lastly, while in Nova Scotia, ask questions and chat with the local staff and lovely Nova Scotians. They are warm and so proud of their land and heritage.

The hotel is a beautiful old CP Hotel. The lobby, dining room and all common rooms are beautiful. The room we stayed in definitely needs some renovation. Especially the carpet! The sink in the bathroom was very slow to drain and stuff came up into the sink. Not sure what it was.
The breakfast was delicious! Kudos to the chef. We had supper in the dining room, the food was very good. Our server Ting does an excellent job, very pleasant and personable!

I was terribly disapointed with this hotel- I was really looking forward to staying here, but...the property really let me down. Just so many negatives to list ( and I am NOT generally a complainer!). The room was VERY small and dated, they only had TWIN beds in the room, couldn't get the air con to work, the pool wasn't open, couldn't get a coffee anywhere and the restaurant was closed, I fell in an open sewer grate off the driveway, they jammed the few guests into one small area on the same area of one floor ( so noisy at times ), the entire property was really run down and in need of much work, the room price was VERY high for what you get, the hotel is a LONG was away from coffee, downtown eateries etc.
I don't think the manager was very attentative, in fact he walked right in front of me to get through the door as it opened without an \"excuse me\", \"hello\" or anything!
I would not recommend this hotel for it's price, condition or location.

A couple of disappointments upon check in: 1) We rented a cottage that was listed to have 2 double beds + 2 twin beds. We actually had 3 twin beds and 1 double. 2) we were given no ice bucket or complimentary water (pretty common anywhere you go)

Our cottage was nice and cozy. The property itself is very nice and offers plenty of options. Great location, close to everything you need. The breakfast was perfect and hats off to our server for breakfast and the bartender, I would give them both 5 stars but the front desk staff more like a 3.

We did spend a bit of time trying to chase a mouse out of our cottage in the evening but was not successful, so he's still there somewhere. Overall I should say this stay was not what I would expect for the price I paid and I'm sure it's even more expensive in peak season.

Unfortunately, the Pines is in need of significant repairs and renovations to modernize this former Nova Scotia landmark. The boiler was undergoing repairs and no hot water was available in the rooms. We did receive an upgrade to a room with Ocean view.The carpets could be shampooed and dents in the moulding as well as flaking paint could be easily repaired. No wi fi was available. Dinner was excellent. Staff were friendly. We would consider returning but we would choose a cottage instead.

All negative reviews you can find about rooms and the state of property are overall accurate.
Stuff members at the reception desk are nice and helpful to the best of their abilities. The main reason why I give 1 star is that I couldn’t sleep due to cleaning person performing his duty from 03:30 to 06:00. I was woken up in the middle of the night by a loud sound of what appeared to be a commercial vacuum cleaner. Once it was done the cleaning person was going back to forth to a utility room to dump dirty water and refill his bucket with clean water. The bucket is also a commercial one with wheels that was making a lot of noise when dragged across ceramic tiles floor. It was a waste of a night that made the following day much harder.

The staff were courteous, and super helpful. They went above and beyond to make the evening special, including chocolates and a birthday card waiting for us in our suite.

Churchill's restaurant was amazing, and there also the team went above and beyond.

This was not our first time staying here, and it definitely won't be our last. Highly recommend!

The reception agent, Rexon, was amazing. Very informative and offered his assistance when needed.
The room was great; very clean, comfortable bed and chairs. Beautiful antique desk.
My only issue was pertaining to my husband. He usually walks with a walker, but to get inside we had to walk to the other side of the hotel and take the elevator up.
After that he used his cane, which he is not as steady on. He went out the main door and had to hold onto the railing which is covered with beautiful Christmas decorations. He had to search for a clear piece of railing to hold onto. Because the stairs were so wet, I had to hold the railing as well and found the same issue.

Other than that, we had a wonderful stay. Thank you.

Noelle at front desk was excellent. We staying in main building. Bed was VERY comfortable. Although it is an older building, it was still pleasant. Walls NOT soundproof. We could easily hear the people next door talking even though they were not talking loud, and could even hear their phone notifications. Hauling luggage up the stairs at front entrance and to room floor was a bit inconvenient. Food in restaurant was good and appreciated the complimentary breakfast. Overall I was happy with the accomodations.

The staff were so helpful! Terry took us on a tour of some of the cottages and we were able to find a great one for next summer. We booked it and can’t wait to come back. The evening manager and front desk clerk on Nov 5 were also very helpful with tips and suggestions of where to go in the area and provided us with some brochures as well.
The server Nov 5 for dinner at the restaurant ( think it was Aurora) was very sweet and attentive.
We also had a a great complimentary hot breakfast that was served by a fun person ( believe They were named Adam?)
Our room was clean and had a great view of the water.

Issue with plumbing where the toilet would be running for a good hour after being flushed. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The cottage that we stayed in was very dated and maybe clean but it was hard to tell because it was so dated. The couch was filthy and the mattresses were very soft and lumpy. There are no kitchens and only a mini fridge in the cottage. Parking was easy, no issues finding a spot. We loved that it was a CP hotel back in the day and the architecture of the place is beautiful. I think the dining chairs were original to the building and I love them!

The only issue we saw (heard, actually) was a constant beeping somewhere near the front desk. Didn’t affect us in our room or in the dining room, but it was a bit of an irritant if you were on the main floor. However, it won’t stop us from staying here again!

This “resort” is dated, dirty, worn out with broken furniture and lumpy twin beds as their norm in each room
The photos shown online must be a secret room they keep hidden - because they did not exist in our booking
The bathroom tap was an explosion of after that sprayed everywhere
The windows were cracked and broken and did not open
The floors were dirty and grimy
Each cottage smelled worse than the previous one
Like an old forgotten rotting momento forgotten in the attic
We paid a small fortune for this room through Hotels.com, it was supposed to be a treat for us after weeks of travelling the east coast - it was terrible
I was afraid to sleep in the bed, although the sheets were clean the bed was old and wobbly - the sheets smelled over powering with the scent of cheap laundry soap
My husband slept in the bed beside me which was a full, mine was a twin
We didn’t have coffee in the morning in the room because we didn’t trust the water quality from the plumbing
This resort boils be stunning
Instead it was disgustingly dirty and worn out a remnant from the 50’s with broken stained furniture
The only upside was the restaurant
We had a wonderful meal which helped ease our dread at the prospect of sleeping in that gross cottage

Too long of a line to check in as a very large group showed up all at the same time in front of us. They should have had a different counter for regular check ins. The duvet cover was all matted and lumpy and pillows cases were all very wrinkled. Bed did not look like it should in nice hotel. The restaurant food was very good. The staff was very professional! Beautiful view from our room.
