The location in the vineyard with rolling green hills is stunning and the restaurant and many rooms take full advantage of the wonderful views.

However rooms are extremely small. There was only room for 1 chair, 1 bedside table and nowhere to but cases. If you wanted to boil the kettle you needed to put it on the floor or plug it in, in the bathroom. Disappointing for a room that cost over $300 a night.

We stayed because we had been given a voucher for a wine tasting and dinner. When we booked dinner( via Red Balloon voucher) we were informed, after booking, that the 2 course dinner in the voucher was being substituted with $80 towards dinner in the restaurant. It took 2 emails and a phone call to Cleveland Estate to have the original 2 course meal reinstated. Again disapointing. Staff were pleasant, dinner was nice and breakfast the next morning excellent, but overall did not live up to expectations.

We stayed here on a Friday and Saturday night for an anniversary celebration. The location was beautiful and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Overall, the hotel was more like an upscale bed and breakfast than a luxury hotel (as the Lancemore chain market it). The rooms are in need of updating (i.e., bathrooms, wardrobes, paint, etc. are all looking very worse for wear).
The bar area is lovely and has a wonderful view. However, the restaurant was disappointing. It had a completely different menu to when we booked online. The previous menu listed a gourmet selection of dishes, which is why we booked it for our anniversary dinner. Instead, the menu we were presented had a selection of three main sharing dishes and limited sides.The food was very average and the overall dining experience was disappointing. The breakfast was a buffet, which was simple but nice.
The first night we were there was blissfully quiet; however, the second night was unacceptably noisy. Other guests had decided to have drinks by the fire pit right outside the main guest rooms. The noise from these guests continued well past midnight. The hotel needs to remind guests to be mindful of the noise (considering the fire pit is right next to most of the rooms) or close the fire pits at 10pm.
Although this hotel has a beautiful scenic setting and exceptional staff, it was a disappointing stay.

My stay here was average for a winery stay. Bedding and towels could be improved as well as breakfast. Walls in the rooms are very thin so you can hear guests coming in and out of their room and guests above you walking.

We stayed here for my husbands birthday and were really looking forward to a weekend away however when we checked into our room and looked around the property we went back to our room and opened the door to find another couple in the room. We had been double booked and it was such a disappointing awkward experience. However following that were downgraded to a smaller room because it was ready and clean which was located near the pool room. When we entered there was a dead cockroach in the bathroom. Due to the rooms proximity to the pool room which had no restrictions, there were hotel guests playing music and pool all through the night that we could hear through the paper thin walls. When we finally called to complain after 1am we were met with a rude staff member who upon the second call acted like she didn’t know what we talking about and on the third call just responded with ‘okay’. My husband had to tell the hotel guests in the pool room to leave because we couldn’t get any sleep. When I went to pass on feedback at checkout I felt rushed and not heard so they could check the rest of the hotel guests out. I wouldn’t stay here again but it was a beautiful property.

There was so many bugs in our room that I had a lot of trouble sleeping, they were everywhere and crawling all over us. The restaurant bathroom were also covered in these bugs at breakfast time, all over the toilet paper, seats and floor. They were also inside the restaurant at breakfast time.

We booked 2 days before the New Year’s Eve weekend. Beautiful surroundings, friendly staff. Only downside was that there were not much to do on New Year’s Day at the winery for dinner or on the 2nd January. We’ll definitely revisit the winery. Great value for money.

Cannot thank all the staff here, for making our weekend away perfect!

The property itself is amazing, with beautifully maintained gardens & comfortable, clean rooms.

But where it excels is in it's staff. From check-in, to throughout our stay, they went above and beyond!
There was 6 of us staying here and all had exactly the same experience.
We also ate several meals at the property & the food was very enjoyable, as were the wines.
Totally enjoyed our stay & will visit again.

A bit disappointing

Website descriptions didn’t match reality.
We were placed in a suite in a new area which had just been renovated...

Unfortunately it was not actually finished - no bar fridge, no sofa, no side table, phone or space for coffee / drink facilities.

Room was booked for 3 people and identified as having capacity for 4, however one king bed was provided.

No bath as indicated on website and bathroom wasn’t completely finished.

Reception offered to relocate to another area and room but still not with all advertised facilities so decided it was less hassle to stay in original room.
A rollaway bed was brought in.
Bed was comfy.
Location and view from window was nice.
Very hot rooms with tin roof and little ventilation.

Had pretty much the whole new wing to ourselves which was good.

Wine tasting was a little disappointing - $15 pp for 5 less than generous splashes and staff were less than engaging / not willing to have a proper conversation about the wine.

Cleanliness was great. We had trouble with our reverse cycle aircon it was noisy even though it wasn’t on. Sounded like the refrigeration was always working so unfortunately we had a very bad sleep. We did report it the next day so hopefully it was dealt with appropriately so the next people staying in that unit have a restful night. The surrounds and ambience are lovely.

Gluten free pizza was awesome.
Receptionist was lovely. Shame they don't clean their rooms on Sundays if no bookings made. Didn't look very good when uncleaned room doors were left open.
A lot of glasses and pizza boards left on tables on the property all day and overnight and overflowing rubbish bins. Not a good look for visitors.

Stayed one night on the way to airport. Winery overall was lovely but the rooms a little outdated and the bed very uncomfortable. The restaurant was large and very plain. The staff were lovely and very attentive but thought the meal was a little overpriced, although very tasty. We had to leave early in the morning and they accommodated our request for an early breakfast which was much appreciated. The breakfast room was really cold as they did not have the heating on or a fire light

Wonderful weekend break for a Birthday celebration

Stayed here for two nights and absolutely loved it. From the moment we checked in on Friday afternoon to when we checked out on the Sunday morning, we could not have been happier with the service we received from very friendly, chatty staff. Everyone we encountered always had a smile on their face and nothing we asked for was ever too much trouble. We would highly recommend staying here.

Beautiful country winery about an 1hr out of Melbourne with accomodation and resaurant facilities and as we saw when we were therereception facilities. The meals were very good great choice of all food and nice local wines and brews. Best feature with out doubt for our visit was the underground cellar and winetasting just a real out of this world experience

A great weekend escape!

Location was nice and close. Only about 1.15 mins from the City. Reception staff were very friendly and informative.Our room was a Superior Suite. It was very small and decor was quite dated. Our room was located right next to the communal lounge so it was quite noisy.
The wine tasting was great and informative and the wines were very tasty. We bought three different bottles.
Dinner was okay and quite expensive for the service and experience we received.
We did book a table however were seated right at the front of restaurant close to front door. It was quite cold and not a lot of astmosphere. A couple who came in just after us without a reservation we’re seated right in the middle of the action at a great table. That was quite disappointing. Overall stay was okay however not too sure if we will be book in a hurry. Although maybe for the wine because they were great!!!

The property was great. The landscape very pretty during sunset. The staff were friendly. The animals adorable. We enjoyed playing the pool, soccer and ping pong tables. It was nice to have the fireplace at the common playrooms. The basement cellar and wine were amazing. The breakfast was good value and tasty. Wifi and the TV in the room good working condition. The room was very spacious. Everything was great. The only downside was dinner at the Grange restaurant. The $35 salmon seemed to be microwaved. It was piping hot when served and was over cooked even though we asked for rare. No crispy salmon skin. The restaurant decor looked like the inside of a council hall. Best to go outside the grounds for dinner.

The warmth and friendliness of the staff was very pleasing and the facility clean, tidy and warm especially on a cold day. The buildings were amazing and the underground cellar experience was \"Fantastic\" and capped of with a fabulous meal.

Exploring the Macedon area

Very pleasant staycation. Great location from which to explore the local area, however you do need a car to get around. Not a lot of options for eating out in the near vicinity, however the local Lancefield hotel is very popular and had good food and service. The resort itself has reasonable standard rooms that are ample for sleeping and refreshing ready for exploring the area. Breakfast is adequate, and the cellar door had some nice tasting wines!

Our spontaneous mini getaway meant we were able to secure a bargain price close to our desired area. It was towards the end of the Easter break and not all facilities were available to us so it would have been helpful to know that in advance. Perhaps the bargain price was to offset that.
Tips on options for an off site evening meal and the need to book at the popular local pub would have also been useful however my resourceful husband got that sorted and he found the local Fish and Chip shop open which sold delicious Barramundi.
Otherwise, as keen photographers we were spoilt for choice with places like Hanging Rock, Macedon and Kyneton all within an easy 45 min drive away.
Returning from a busy day out to a spacious, well appointed room was appreciated.

Not as relaxing as we'd hoped

The rooms were really noisy. We could hear every little creak, squeak and bump from rooms above and beside us including normal speaking level voices, trickling water and inexplicable thumps. They began early in the morning and then stopped late at night so sleep was an issue. Beds were really uncomfortable.
We were a night without toilet paper or tissues as we expected they would be replaced on the first day's cleaning but weren't. Apart from that the cleaning staff were very obliging and did a great job of the room.
The restaurant was pretty good and everyone there seemed to work extremely hard and were always cheerful.

Our bathroom was designed as a disabled bathroom and there was no shower screen to prevent water going all over the floor - this was our only concern. We had a wonderful stay here at The Grange. After touring the local area it was nice to find a quiet place to chill out. We spent time wine tasting, walking around the property and dinning at the restaurant. Having our dessert out on the restaurant balcony, watching the sunset, and enjoying a local glass of shiraz is a great way to end the day.

Everything was generally pretty good but the condition of the windows spoiled everything. There is this lovely view and you can’t see out for the filth, grime and spiders webs. I realise that we were on the first floor but have you never heard of a ladder.
The staff are a delight and the cellar door and the restaurant were excellent so I don’t know why you could let these filthy windows destroy the whole image.

A great stay.

The staff were extremely helpful, particularly the staff in the restaurant accomodating our specific dietary requirements. We loved the historic nature of the old homestead that our room was in and the surrounding area had an abundance of things to see and do.
