This is the third time we've stayed at this hotel as it's convenient to the areas we frequent in SD. Most of the staff is very polite and responsive to problems. Breakfast is good, parking is expensive ($50/night), and the rooms are clean.

We had an issue with checkin this time--the room we were given wasn't what I requested. And the next morning we found that the shower didn't work. We were able to get a different room with a working shower for the next night, but given the cost for what we get, I think it's time to look for a new San Diego hotel. Sorry.

Ask for a room off of the main road. There is a lot of road noise. There are window air conditioners. Kind of hard to share a room since both sinks are in the public area. Beds were comfortable and breakfast was great. Ice water available in the entry was a nice touch. Front desk staff were always super helpful and the breakfast staff members were also very nice.

Okay, we stayed 2 nights, and in the other review I covered only the \"positives\". This companion review will cover the less than positive.
First, the rooms are VERY small and VERY dated (no sink in the bathroom!?!). Depending on your room placement, your view might be directly into the room of other guests, so curb your privacy expectations.
Second, $50/night for guests to park is ridiculous! And, as an added bonus, the parking is in an unsecure lot next to the building. DEFINATELY NOT worth the cost.
Third, in daylight, or post-Padre game, walking around in the area is fine. But you should probably avoid any roaming around after dark, especially later in the evening, as the derelicts and degenerates are out in force around the area.
Again, great location for a Padre game. Plenty of places to eat nearby. Plenty to do in the area. As for the place itself, don't expect too much.

The staff at the front desk were kind and professional.

The room smelled like old people. Tiny room you can barely move. The sink was next to the bed instead of the shower and toilet.
The outside picture on Expedia of the hotel is fake and doesn’t look like it at all. Overall horrible room smell, old smell, and false advertising pictures on line.

All staff members were absolutely wonderful. The issue is the building and the location. It’s quite old, so very loud. Tons of noise coming in from the street, including fights, vehicles, night life on saturday, and people digging through the trash cans out front. I know they can’t control the nightlife but because of old windows and AC units it felt like I was sleeping in the middle of the club.

Breakfast was a great selection, so that’s a bonus. One of my biggest issues was how bad the room smelled when we arrived. Like the place had been drenched in bleach and cleaners…the way something smells when you’re trying to cover up something worse. We were able to air it out a bit by opening the window.

I would not stay here again, there were other similarly priced options in the area that offered walking distance to the same amenities this one has. Oh, and $50 per night for sketchy back-lot parking lot. I paid $50 total on Park Hero for a lot three blocks away.

Room miniscule for the price. Air conditioning unit did Not have functioning heat. Room so compact that sink is in the room with the bed and there was minimal counterspace at because sink counter shared with microwave and tiny coffee dispenser - ie sink is in main room, not bathroom. Like tent living. MIrror above sink too high to look into. HOTELS.COM POSTS THAT THERE IS PARKING BUT IT IS $50/night, shocking omission by Hotels.com-- there is street parking and poss other nearby lots, not sure. Comfort Inn's are usually alot better than this one.

The property itself is a bit rundown and older looking with some wear and tear in the rooms - but for the price and location it is well worth it! We were less than 10 minutes to the Padres game which was awesome! Also be aware it's fairly noisy at night because it's on a main street

The breakfast menu was satisfying and filling. The eggs and sausages weren't premium but were fresh. There were other good choices available too.

My biggest reason for the high overall rating was the staff. They were extremely helpful and friendly and helped me with a rebooking so I could stay longer. They also did an excellent job accommodating my parking needs.

Rooms are small, which are fine for two or if you aren’t in your room much like us. Breakfast was adequate and well staffed to keep up with demand. Location is great. We walked to and from the Padres stadium. There are lots of good restaurants close by. Staff were friendly and helpful. I would stay here again.

Hotel is conveniently located in walking distance of popular bars and restaurants. But the parking is horrible. The hotel has a parking right around the corner but at $50 bucks a day can get quite expensive if staying more than a couple days. And my experience with the room key card didn’t go well. I didn’t like having to get up to my room, key card doesn’t work, then go back downstairs to get a new one. Happened to me every time I left. Overall though I would stay here again.

I would say that the tub in the shower was a little dirty and the faucet was dirty as well but other than that nice clean sheets I would say this place is just a place to go crash and sleep. The area is a little sketchy, but it is very close to downtown parking was expensive $50 but if you go around the street there parking for parking for 20 bucks there’s also free breakfast in the morning.

However, safety is the most important to me and I felt safe during my stay. The staff are very kind and helpful. I was attending a conference and found the location convenient, and it was about a 10 min walk if not less to the SDCC. I’d stay here again in the future.

Room was quite clean, staff were pleasant. However the property is a bit old and there were things that needed repair.

The cover on the fire extinguisher outside my room fell off the wall outside every time my heavy door closed. The windows were SUPER old and apparently it’s a thing in SD that young people stand outside literally all night screaming at each other, and I was on the 4th floor and could still hear them all night long. I’m not kidding, I caught my uber at 4am on Sunday morning to the airport and people were hanging outside the building yelling so loud the uber driver asked me about it when I got in. Someone’s car alarm went off outside every night and it was like it was in the room with me. I was on the 4th floor and it was LOUD. My friend stayed in the room next door and had the same complaints. The AC units are windows style, so there is basically no insulation from noise.

The bed was very firm and while it didn’t bother me much, it was a bit uncomfortable. The free breakfast was awful and I never expect much when it’s free but it was pretty bad. The waffles were good but eggs and breakfast meat were inedible.

SD hotels are expensive, and were it not for the noise and crummy windows, this hotel isn’t bad for the price comparatively. It’s no frills and exactly what you would expect from a Comfort Inn. The location is great if you are here for a conference or just visiting the area. There are tons of restaurants in Gaslamp. Overall, it was just okay.

Bathoom light was flickering and I asked bulb to be replaced, but it was not. Housekeeping forgot to clean my room on the appointed day. Front desk staff were very nice. The location was very convenient for walking to conference center, but the area is very noisy, especially on weekend nights. Great if you prefer to be part of the nightlife!

First and foremost the Television had very poor service. The hotel wifi had very poor service. I tried to use the hotel wifi to utlize my labtop but the signal was very weak. I was very disappointed in my stay with this hotel. My next stay in San Deigo is going to in another hotel. I rather pay for great ammenities.

Great location to the Petco Park Rodeo this weekend. It was enough for the price of the area. Metered parking on street or $50, or $35 garage up the street. Small but rooms good enough for the price. Internet ok, watched Netflix just needed YouTube TV app to work. Overall with Full Breakfast included it was worth the stay. Great staff and late checkout.

PLEASE don't be fooled by high star ratings; that's how I made the mistake of booking here. I booked two rooms, and one of the rooms had clearly been affected by water damage for a while, as evidenced by the bubbling and water LEAKING from the ceiling in the shower. As if that's not enough, the shower head kept falling off. I only stayed for one night, and by the time I was in the shower, I didn't want to get out and change rooms, so I had to just stick it out. The night was also terrible because you could hear a lot of the street noise, and the AC unit on the window was very loud. Also, the service was terrible. No empathy and no resolution. My father was reasonably upset, and I will say he raised his voice, but was not insulting at all (he doesn't use foul language and did call anyone any names), when complaining about the situation. The employee told him to \"stop being ridiculous\" to which I responded \"what is ridiculous is that you assigned us a room with water damage.\" They have not taken any action for us; they said they would refund the $50 parking fee and that a manager would call me, neither of which has happened. I contacted Expedia, and within a few days, they informed me that the manager had declined my refund request for that room. You are literally paying for a place to sleep and shower, and neither of those needs was adequately met. I cannot believe the negligence to even allow that room to be booked! That damage had been there for days!

Great option for any con goer for events held at the SDCC. Property is walkable from the convention centre in under 10 minutes (maybe longer for shorter-legged people) and is in the heart of the Gaslamp District. Only thing I felt that could use an improvement is the mattress as it was a bit stiff compared to other hotels I stayed at.

It’s close to all the hustle and bustle of the Gaslamp which is great for walk ability. The windows in this building are pretty old so you can also hear that hustle and bustle at night.

My room was clean and the bed was comfortable. It has a ceiling fan and a nice new window AC unit.

I felt the hallways that weren't on the first floor felt a little creepy and prison like due to the color and the lighting. There are many unhoused people in the early mornings but I walked past them daily and they never said or did anything. I felt fairly safe in the area - I walked to and from the grand Hyatt at 6am and walked the Gaslamp around 9pm and felt fine.
