One of the most expensive hotels in West Yorkshire still riding on the fact that the Beatles,who I simply love, stayed there 60 years ago. Beautiful grounds and building from the outside and ample free parking. Terrible decor which is very tired. Internet simply did not work in the rooms and the bathroom was terrible, shower head was past its best by about a decade.

Staff were incredibly polite and helpful throughout, engaging before and during our stay. Our room was clean, comfortable, and well provisioned. Great location and a nice hotel. Comfortable room, though a bit noisy as you can hear people milling about in the night. The food and drink is expensive for what you get (£9 for a basic sandwich and £3 for a soft drink). Otherwise it’s a good choice.

Overall the stay was ok. On this day there was a wedding, we stayed in room 31, with the windows facing the parking lot. There was a lot of noise until late. Dinner was good, we liked the quality. In terms of accommodation, the bed was not so comfortable and the room was very hot, we had to open a window where all the noise from the wedding came from. Breakfast quality could be better

Loved this hotel. Food was awesome, House was historic. The only negative was the fact that the housekeeper took away the soap and body wash from the first night (really silly given the big sign in the bathroom about being kind to the environment). So I had to use a new soap for the second day, and also never got a replacement body wash! Other than that, it was fabulous.

We attended a wedding here - it was a very pretty setting and the accommodation rooms were very comfortable and food excellent - if I had one quibble it was the difficulty accessing the rooms from the function areas - I walked down with a small baby and one of the staff allowed me to go through the dining room but otherwise I had to go outside and re-access the building through another entrance. A small gripe - but the stay was otherwise most enjoyable

What a beautiful hotel. We enjoyed a great time at this hotel. From the staff to the cat all were friendly and professional. Our room was pleasant but the star of the show was the food. A menu offering goat terrine and hogget cannon is fine by me. Excellent all round stay

We had four nights at Holdsworth. It is a fine historical mansion well staffed rooms were smaller than they looked on the internet photos. We were upstairs and the window was a large skylight. For two of the nights we stayed there were large weddings held which occupy the gardens and bar area and on one night the entire restaurant. They have a lot of weddings apparently. The breakfast was excellent the reception staff helpful. Parking on the wedding nights was very difficult.

Wedding guest experience
First of all let me state that the cost of the room £145 for a double room with tea and coffee in this location with the facities is too much. Its a served breakfast which I love, however we were seated at a table that was not set correctly. There were two cups missing and no breakfast spoons and no milk jug and no teaspoons. I asked for a milk jug and was told to use the one on the table, i had to explain we did not have one. I had to ask for 2 teacup and was brought two tea cups without any saucers.... whats that about? lack of training on the part of the waitress?
The place is like a maze.. confusing, and there is a bar near where we sat on arrival after the wedding. This the hotel closed at 8 o'clock pm, however the barman walked past myself and at least 4 other guests from the wedding and said nothing... He came back about 5 minutes later and said, sorry this bar is closed!!!!! EH? Could he not have explained this when he walked off!!!
I said to him, a notice would be good and he just grumped at me, oh yeah!.....
So, I go to the bar in the wedding room and there is a small blonde waitress in behind the bar. I ask her for a whisky, which she gives me in a brandy glass. I checked it was a whisky which it was but i think she needs some training too....
I asked for a gin glass for my gin and tonic - i was told they did not have them....

The original section of the house is very attractive but much smaller than it appears in photos. Our suite was in the seemingly unattractive addition from the sixties; however, the interior had recently been renovated and our suite was superbly comfortable. The gardens are lovely and I highly recommend ordering tea and scones there; probably the best ever.

Built in 1623 and every bit authentic Holdsworth Hall was a pure luxurious treat. Restaurant food was beautiful with white glove service. Room clean and everything you need, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, water and biscuits. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Took my elderly parents and they were very helpful and understanding. Love the area, within walking distance of nice walks and a short drive to Bronte country.

Spent a wonderful night in this beautiful hotel with lots of character and gorgeous grounds! We had a lovely dinner in the bar and tea on the lawn in the garden. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful and staff attentive and considerate. Would definitely recommend this wonderful hotel.

Arrived before check in time but staff went out of their way to get my room ready early. Staff was very friendly and the rooom was excellent. Met friends for dinner and when leaving the dining room one of them turned her chair over when getting up. It broke a lovely platter. Lovely hotel, which has recently undergone some work to the restarant. Dinner and breakfast is first class and the restaurant is always very busy in the evenings with non-guests; which shows how the food is regarded in the local area.
The rooms are slightly dated, but fine for a solo business person who wants a nice quiet nights rest in an idillic setting.
Not a huge amount around in terms of the local area, but that wasn't the purpose of my visit.
I would definitely stay again and this is my defacto hotel of choice when in the Halifax area. The Wifi is also pretty good, considering the age of the building and all those thick brick walls.

I was hoping that this hotel was out of the town and was a little concerned when I saw the location was in the suburbs of Halifax however was pleasantly surprised at the peace and lack of noise both traffic and neighbourly. It was the best night's sleep i've had in a hotel lovely comfy bed and the cleanliness 10 out of 10. Staff very friendly and accomodating. Food very good . I really couldn't fault this hotel.

We had a wonderful dinner with terrific food & service which was then completely marred by a wedding reception at the hotel whose guests evidently drank from 6 pm to 3:30 am. They were raucous & disrespectful, singing loudly & slamming doors and despite calls to the night porter at 2:30 & 3:00 am, they couldn't be contained. The hotel needs to develop and enforce policies to protect their guests.

The restaurant was a fantastic surprise. The food was excellent. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The house itself was lovely. The rooms we booked were small but fine for us.
