I am rating this hotel as "3" because the staff was superb - responsive, helpful, friendly. The gentelman at the front desk not only patiently explained to me the walking directions but also graciously made me some hot tea. The property itself has a great location and nice common areas, but it is very dated, there was a bad smell in the room and no hot water in the morning.

Firstly, the breakfast pastries are some of the best pastries I’ve had in my life. (And trust me when I say I’ve had many pastries before today) crisp on the outside, feather soft on the inside.

Dinner in the hotels restaurant was delicious!! The lamb shoulder was recommended and did not disappoint.

The staff were soooo helpful, gave excellent advice re the hike. Super kind and friendly. Thank you to you all!

The room was clean and bed comfy. Would absolutely stay again should I do the hike again.

Was Ok. Smell of cleaning products hit us as we walked in and took a while to get rid of. Bed not very comfortable. No fridge, or any kitchen type appliances. However it served its purpose as a place to stay that made it easy to walk the trail and get back to our car after.

Victor - the receptionist that checked us in, was very friendly. He apologized the restaurant was not open and guided us to a different one. We also asked for some ice, which we were delighted he delivered to us as we were planning to return to the desk to retrieve.

If you have seen Fawlty Towers, this is it!

Arriving, the hotel is in a good position.Close to the Caminito del Rey. There is street parking, but if you want secure parking you have to pay 3 euro to park on site. Enter Basil Fawlty! The check in was normal and you were advised to bring your bags through the front door before parking your car! Why?, You are about to find out. Once the booking in procedure was completed I went back to car to park and the electric gates were open. Drive in, park the car, walk back to the gate to leave, the gates are shut! There is no buzzer, there is no way you can communicate with anyone to let you out and there is no other means of entering the hotel than through the front.
I waited until my wife came out and she had to return to the hotel to ask for the gates to be opened. The rooms are old and tired. Things did not work and the recepionist, Victor, tried his best to get things to work..To no avail. He explained the hotel was full and no alternative rooms were available.
I then wanted to return to the car to collect a couple of things. 'How do I enter?' 'Oh, with this gate remote' 'Can I have a remote then please so I can to my car?' 'Ahh, no. The owner does not allow that' ??? So he had to stand at the window and open the gate and watch me return to open the gate. Leaving was the same issue. After check out I went to get the car. On arriving at the gate it was shut. My only option was to blast my car horn, which is loud, to attract attention. Incredible. It goes on, but.....

Really nice as a whole. Not fancy but spotless, quiet and comfortable. Food was excellent. The only issue was we had 2 episodes where the electricity cut out for 10-20 mins. Not sure if there’s anything they can do about that (as it may be standard in the remote location) but it’s worth being aware of.

Friendly staff at check-in and check-out. Conveniently located close to the entrance of Caminito del Rey. Restaurant on-site. Parking on the street is free or a small fee to park behind the hotel. Beautiful building exterior and interior.

This is a nice 3 star hotel in a beautiful location.
We found the room to be cold with the tiled floor and the en suite was a bit cramped. We thought that there was private parking, but were told to park in the road.
The best feature was the perfect location for walking Caminito del rey and the surrounding national Park.

Great location when you want to do the Caminito del Rey, especially if you don‘t have tickets and need to be at the entrance early. Restaurant not the best but ok, since there is not much else in the region

This hotel exceeded our expectation! We enjoyed the surrounding a lot! The staffs were very charming especially the older women who managed the breakfast. We enjoyed the breakfast tremendously. On the whole, a memorable stay at a historical hotel :)

Cold day with no central heating & bad shower

Hotel doesn’t turn on central heating in winter.
Bathroom shower was functioning as a hose.
Two space heaters can’t function together as they blow the breaker. It was 5°c outside.
Service was very pleasant and helpful.
Restaurant for dinner and breakfast was great.

Next to Caminito del Rey.

If you're going to Caminito del Rey, this is a great spot. The attached restaurant serves an awesome lamb shoulder. Wow, so good. I had a little trouble with the wifi one day, but no big deal.

Lovely hotel in rural setting

We had a family reunion weekend break at the Posada del Conde and it was fantastic. The walks are stunning, the staff very friendly and helpful. We'll definitely be going back.

Lovely area.

Disappointed in location of hotel as the picture given in all of the information I had seen, including the one with this review is NOT actually of this hotel. I was under the impression that the hotel was on the edge of the lake and so disappointed to find out the this was just a picture of a beautiful local view. Misleading, I feel.
The hotel was good value, perfectly adequate. No sun terrace/ outside space available for relaxing though.
Reception staff very pleasant and helpful.

Die Unterkunft ist in die Jahre gekommen und hat ein sehr schlechtes Preis/Leistungsverhältnis. Die exponierte Lage zum Wandern rechtfertigt in keinem Maße den Preis. Ich war sehr enttäuscht.

Posto ideale per escursioni in zona

Struttura accogliente, ideale per visitare il Camminito del Rey e per le escursioni. Usufruito della mezza pensione con la cena nel ristorante attiguo ottima sia la cena che la colazione. Reception eccellente anche riguardo alle informazioni sul Camminito del Rey. Stanze pulite e personale professionale e simpatico.

O atendimento do Sr. Gregório e de primeira. Muito eficaz e gentil. Isso foi no check in.
No checkout houve um problema, fizemos o camino del Rey e choveu, estávamos molhados e chegamos antes uns minutos de fechar a diária . Solicitamos o quarto, pois já havíamos entregado as chaves, somente para colocar uma roupa seca. A atendente disse que o quarto estava sendo limpo e nós ofereceu o banheiro, como não tinhamos espaço suficiente no banheiro para abrir as malas a solução foi seguir viagem molhados.
Tentamos uma alternativa com a atendente para que ela disponibilizasse o quarto por alguns minutos ou outro quarto somente pelo espaço de abrir as malas, mas nos foi negado.

La limpieza estaba muy bien. En cuanto a la habitación tenía muchos fallos. Entre ellos: el váter estaba rota la tapadera. La ducha el soporte estaba roto. Había dos enchufes en la habitación, uno no se podía utilizar porque estaba tapado con el cabecero de la cama. El otro estaba suelto y había que tener cuidado porque se salía. El televisor solo se podía ver dos cadenas.

Very disappointed. Very small room, monacal style, so badly designed that it was impossible to close the bathroom door. I had to open the front door to open the bathroom, then shut the front door and the bathroom still would not close.. No reception desk at 7pm, so I had to call several time to 3 different phone numbers for someone to answer and provide a code to open a box and get a set of key. After 15min of wrong instructions the manager called a neighbor to come and help. He eventually managed to open another box after several attempts. A real mess. Then I did not had wifi signal and the wifi instructions weren't updated neither. Contact on the sheet would not help.. 1 towel only for the bathroom, a spare would have been appreciated...also the walls are not so thick, we can hear everything...and for the check out, no needs to detail how long it took for someone to advise on the process, code or anything. I'm still waiting "the women" to advise or collect the keys... At last I left the keys in the room. Not the best neighborhood neither.

Personnel extrêmement accueillant

Super séjour. Le caminito del rey était exceptionnelement fermé et il y avait peu de clients. Le personnel a été aux petits soins pour nous et toujours disponible pour répondre à nos questions et nous permettre de découvrir la région. Le seul bémol : l'établissement est ancien et n'apporte pas le confort d'un hotel récent. Il reste d'un excellent rapport qualité/prix !
