Unfortunately we were unaware that works were going on outside the hotel, and had been for the last year. Paving renewals were coming towards the end when we got there but nevertheless there were large areas where blocks were missing and manholes had to be levelled. Noise was ongoing from about 8am due to blocks having to be cut to fill gaps. Obviously the hotel was not at fault as these works had to be completed, but I felt we should have been advised that these works were being done at the booking stage.
We booked a table for 6 people one night, and invited 4 friends (also on there holidays, but staying elsewhere) to join us.
2 of the starters ordered were incorrectly sent from the kitchen, and the two recipients had to wait a further 10-15 minutes for their correct order. We then received the main meals, and sadly 4 out of the 6 were not very nice at all. They were both 2 for sharing Paella's which were well overcooked with the rice being almost dry. We presumed that was as a result of the starters being incorrect, and the time taken in cooking new starters.
All in all not a very spectacular experience.
Fortunately my wife and I had stayed at the La Fonda Hotel 2 times in previous years and new that the Hotel were much better than this, and not withstanding not informing us of the works being carried out around the Hotel we will give them a further chance to get back up to standard.

Rooms are very nice not your average benalmadena hotel room, large beds, dressing gowns thise sort of touches. Nice pool area only a few sunbeds. Location is away from coast but lovely typical streets with nice bars and restaurants

There was a lot of construction going on while we visited. So, it was quite noisy and messy in the hotel. Our room was clean, but I think there must have been some recent renovation because it smelled quite a bit of paint. The staff were nice and the included breakfast was good. I recommend not staying on the first floor, however. The room was close to the restaurant, so that made sleeping difficult because of the noise. Also, one night there was a man having an argument with someone and we could hear everything. It persisted off and on until after midnight, at which point we called the front desk. To be fair, the noise stopped immediately, and we didn’t hear anything else for the rest of our stay. Parking was convenient but requires some technical driving skills getting into the garage and spaces.

We had 2 nights at La Fonda and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel is a beautiful old building that has recently been sympathetically renovated. Beautiful spacious bedroom with large en suite. The pool area, sun terrace and foyer are stunning. Good choice of hot and cold food for breakfast.

What a find! In Benalmadena Pueblo. The old village is a delight. Quiet lots of restaurants and nice bars/easy link to Mijas and train station by bus. Too far if you want easy access to beach snd front - but we didn’t. The only downside is lack of bar but there’s loads nearby. Visitors must go to cafe below the hotel where the local Flamenco Chour practices. Cheap and hood food

Over all the hotel is not bad but I think it is becoming a bit rundown there needs to be more attention to the customer gardeners filling up water buckets at breakfast lots of rubbish in plane sight from the breakfast balcony no bar available at times. But in a good location.

Pueblo short break

Had a 4 night stay at La Fonda, spent most of my time on the upper terrace relaxing on either a sunbed or chair. The terrace has been very nicely designed with lots of greenery and laid out allowing you to have privacy. Lovely views of the ocean. My room was very nice and comfortable with everything that I needed, particularly the tea and coffee making facilities. Breakfast was very nice, plenty of choice and the option of ordering eggs cooked to your choice. Only downside was that the hot offering wasn't as hot as I like it, that said their was a microwave available. Would I stay there again, absolutely

We loved La Fonda, a lovely boutique hotel and especially that it’s in the beautiful and peaceful Benalmadena Pueblo.
It’s a 10 minute/€15 taxi to the Marina and Benalmadena centre.
My ‘but’ is, on Hotels.con it says it’s close to the beach but it definitely isn’t!
We ate in beautiful restaurants close by, Le Cepa and La Fuenta and highly recommend both, then a 2 minute stroll back to the hotel.
Lovely bars nearby too.

What a quaint and perfect little spot! Location was better than expected with the heart of the little old town square and famous la nina fountain literally steps away from the front door. Small boutique not a big chain and the staff was excellent esp Roman who was so friendly and helpful with assisting me in planning outings, booking taxi's, calling my next hotel to let them know to expect our late arrival. We left very early for a tour one morning and would not have made breakfast so the evening prior Roman made arrangements for the kitchen to prepare for us a lovely vegetarian picnic and had it placed in our mini fridge. Such an incredibly thoughtful and appreciated gesture. The hotel itself is lovely and the little thermal spa downstairs was a nice retreat but the pool and solarium were equally pleasant and the views from solarium were superb. Highly recommend and would stay here again if/when we return to the area.

Management's eye is not on detail

The entrance and overall general appearance of the hotel is special - kind of like a boutique hotel with authentic history - and every member of staff that I spoke with was friendly, personable, enthusiastic and professional.

However, the room, which was styled in what I imagine to be an attempt at shabby chic only managed to get the first 1/2 of that description correct. Although the very high ceiling gave it an airy feel (and the room itself was spacious) it was rundown and seemed uncared for. Just some of the problems were:

Rusting metal in the bathroom; hair in the sink; a foot-pedal bin whose lids had broken off; a light fitting on the wall that was loose; flies, mosquitos and ants (I went out and bought bug spray); and what must have been the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept on (it felt like it was just a box-spring but without the mattress!). The air-conditioner made so much noise I had to keep it turned off, meaning the room was too hot.

These are not staff issues; these things tell me that housekeeping/maintenance managers are not paying attention. There simply cannot be that much wrong with one room to suggest otherwise.

The room itself (room 106) does not benefit from being located well (admittedly, nothing can really be done about its physical location!), but for future guests, it is worth knowing that it is immediately opposite the elevators and its window looks onto the courtyard pool so the amount of ambient noise was intrusive.

The hotel is really nice spread over 3 storeys,rooms are clean and spacious, with ensuite shower, tv and free wifi, the restaurant is on the lower floor, and is beautiful, the free breakfast is amazing buffet self service, but you can order from the kitchen, parking isa bit of an issue if your elderly as its across the street so ferrying your luggage if heavy will be difficult, but its what you expect from a small village hotel,parking is very reasonable £5 per day.

La Fonda has the perfect location for a restful holiday. You step out of the hotel onto one of the many beautiful narrow streets of Benalmadena, 20 paces from Plaza de Espana, excellent cafe/restaurants and quaint shops. Buses are within a brief walk and are cheap and frequent. There is a train station within a 20 minute downhill walk which is handy for a day trip to Malaga.

The hotel has a small but adequate pool in it's central quadrant and a neat sun-terrace on the roof with lovely views of the coast.

Staff are pleasant, efficient and helpful and everywhere is clean and well maintained (as is the whole of Benalmadena Fuego).

I would definately recommend staying at La Fonda

Really lovely hotel. Good location within the old town. 1 adult and two children stayed in 1 Huge room, massive double bed plus decent size sofa bed. Staff very friendly. Room clean. the hotel has a lot of stairs and lifts only service some floors. Definitely not an issue for the able bodied and fit, and adds to the hotel’s charm, Would recommend this hotel if you are looking for something away from the busy beach front, with gorgeous cobbled streets to wander and some lovely restaurants close by with traditional Spanish atmosphere. Less suited to those with mobility issues ( as is much of the old town given hills and cobbles). We Will be back !

Lovely looking hotel from the outside. Staff had to help carry cases 2 floors as no lift. Small bedroom room and bathroom was small and wasn't separate.
Worst bed I have ever slept on . Hard as a rock.
They put on an undercover but it made little difference. Bedding needs improved . Rough and not comfortable.
Bar never opened.

Our room had stunning views but was directly below the roof terrace which meant quite significant noise when sunbeds and chairs etc were being moved around. A small hotel old world hotel with great charm.

You know that feeling when you walk into a hotel that you are just going to love your stay there? That was exactly what I felt when I walked into La Fonda. A beautiful old hotel with great charm and absolutely stunning views from its terraces and restaurant. I generally felt very relaxed there and loved the staff who were all very friendly from the reception staff to the cleaners.

The pueblo itself is quintessentially Spanish and the hotel sits at the hart of the very best part of it. I intend to go back again for long weekends and short breaks where ever possible.

We felt chilled from the moment we arrived. Lovely fragrant flowers all around the walkways and seating areas. Clean and large rooms. Super views from the roof terrace and lots of lovely restaurants just a walk away. The hotel restaurant serves amazing food and is popular with locals. We used the spa pool and really enjoyed it but think it should be free or at a greatly reduced cost for residents-our only niggle. The staff are tremendously helpful. Would recommend without hesitation.

One of the best hotels i have stayed at and I have stayed at a few-great location fabulous views - superb service - Staff could not do enough for you - breakfast was perfect with 100% attention given to you at all times - would highly recommend this hotel - Even the standard double room that i had booked was a good size - always very cleaned the following day of your stay - we used the Spa on the last day of our stay and all though a little expensive , it was an enjoyable experience -The Solarium on the roof of the hotel is perfect for getting a tan , be careful of the cool breeze - order your self a drink and it will delivered to you - For us this will be a yearly visit -Highly recommended

Just returned from a lovely week at La Fonda- everything about this hotel is beautiful, from the Andalucian-style bedroom to the gorgeous swimming pool area at the centre of the hotel to the colourful flowers against the white architecture and the stunning views across Benalmadena and the sea at breakfast. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast buffet was fantastic; this really feels like a luxurious break. The hotel was fairly quiet when we went, mainly couples and a few families- overall a very calm atmosphere and a lovely place to return to after an evening spent in one of the lovely restaurants nearby or in the more lively harbour of Benalmadena.
The village of Pueblo itself is fairly small & quiet but is lovely to wander around & has some lovely bars and restaurants. It is easy and cheap to catch the bus down to the more lively coastal area of Benalmadena if you want to explore!

Not as good as the first time!

On our first visit about 3 years ago we had a room with a balcony, this time we could only get a standard room on the first floor above the pool, room 205 and it was very dark.The customer service could have been more tourist friendly ...some staff were more knowledgable and helpful than others. We dined in the Escorpio restaurant 3 times and the first 2 visits we really enjoyed and the service was great.On our final night we changed our plans and decided to dine there again. The restaurant was much busier and I feel the waiting staff were under pressure,they seemed to accept more walk ins and we didn't enjoy the atmosphere, the food so much and the service was not as good. Overall we enjoyed the holiday but doubt we will return again.

Hotel in a lovely typically spanish village

Great hotel. Great views. A bit on the expensive side but very relaxed. Great pool and lovely breakfast. We stayed in a sea view room (202) which was clean although please be aware there are building works which have just started in august just below the hotel and we were not informed of this. This caused us excess noise into room and were unable to open french doors due to noise.explained this to staff who were not interested in my concerns.

Lovely hotel with character and great views!

Lovely hotel with character and beautiful views. Staff are friendly and helpful. The only negative was that our room was near reception and because of the type of flooring throughout any noise travelled very well so if you are a light sleeper you may want to request a room far away from main reveption / hotel entrance. Otherwise highly recommended and would stay there again.

Quiet spot in the hills.

Relax away from the touristy parts of the Costa. Excellent breakfast and wonderful views to start of the day. Lovely places to eat in a charming little town.

Four night stay

Just back from a four night stay at La Fonda, the hotel was excellent in most aspects. The staff were very friendly and helpful, particularly the staff in the restaurant. The room was very good, one minor criticism the shower in the bathroom was an over bath type and had no nonslip facility for an older person. Breakfast was very good with a wide variety of items available, and the dinner menu was good value, especially the taster menus. There is a bar/coffee area near reception open during the day but you usually needed to get someone from reception out to serve you and no proper drink/snack facility available for guests on the sun terrace. The hotel is ideally situated for the Old Town in Benalmedena. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and plan to return.

Peaceful and full of character

Hotel car park not very well signposted, but found it eventually. Hotel very stylish and peaceful. Good choice of restaurants and tapas bars within very easy walking distance.

Great value in a great location

Stayed with a friend to play some golf. The hotel was great, friendly staff and perfect location to get to our courses (particularly the fantastic Torrequebrada which is only 5 mins away).

There are also a handful of quality restaurants within 1/2 mins walking.

Amazing view if you have one

Stayed in two rooms. First room had absolutely no wifi signal. Second room was fine. But second room had a musty odor. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Very pleasant, boutique hotel - great value

Holiday at Last Fonda

La Fonda ! FANTASIC .

The hotel exceeded our expectations. Beautifully maintained, the pool and surrounding area was beautiful to look out onto. The patio table and chairs a real benefit as we didnt have a room with a balcony. The breakfast room was stunningly beautiful and the quality and presentation of the food on offer, remarkable.
