My trip to the Barceló Bávaro Palace Hotel took place from May 16 to May 22, 2026. It is currently the off-season in the Dominican Republic, so the plane was half empty and there were not many people at the airport.
I booked the airport transfer to the hotel in advance via email through the Barceló hotel service at
[email protected]. I paid for the round-trip transfer in cash at the airport, and it cost only $40.
The room was clean, and the best impression was left by the bed, which was extremely comfortable to sleep on. However, the hotel is quite old, so the rooms are in need of renovation. One day, the safe stopped working and I had to contact the manager and call security to fix it. Fortunately, it only took about 15–20 minutes, and the security staff member was very friendly and resolved the issue quickly.
Most of the time, I spent relaxing on the hotel beach and by the pool, enjoying different cocktails. Of particular interest was the beach to the right of the hotel, with its untouched Dominican wildlife, where you can be completely alone, knock coconuts down from palm trees, and drink them right on the beach.
I have the warmest memories of this trip, and I dream of returning again someday.
