I booked a room with 2 breakfast. They try to charge me for additional breakfast… an upsell strategy. Breakfast was good. I will never stay there again because I felt was tired to be overcharged. I had to show proof that I have reservation from Expedia that includes 2 breakfast and they insisted to call and verify with Expedia. The front desk need to learn how to dear customer. I’ll stick to the Marriott brand hotels since they are better trained I guess

Oasis in the middle of the city

Ruijin hotel is one of the classic historical hotel in Shanghai located in one of the most prestigious addresses, the formal French concession. Despite the convenient location, it’s surrounded by green space in a park like environment, truly an oasis in the middle of large busy city.

The staff is extremely polite, professional, and attentive.

The rooms are classic, spacious, and large.

The only slight disappointment the hotel restaurant, Xin yuan Lou. The restaurant is beautiful, with excellent service, but the food is below the quality of typical Shanghai restaurants.

Really great hotel with a rich history in a convenient location. Appreciated the free shuttle inside the hotel complex during the summer heat. The room was spacious and well maintained. Gorgeous architecture and beautiful gardens. Glad we stayed here instead of one of those hotels in a skyscraper. Breakfast could be better.

Stay away from this one

The room had a strong musty smell and there was a leak under the sink. After a few days of staying, I developed a rash and cough. But the hotel management's subsequent excuse was: \"The humidity in Shanghai is high and the weather is hot, which is normal for this time of year.\" They completely shirked their responsibility for routine maintenance. Although the restaurant staff and front desk staff were very nice, it was not enough to offset the discomfort during and after the stay.

The hotel is amazing. Not only in good location, but also there’s a quite big and very beautiful garden park. Walking around park , you will see several unique old buildings. All staffs are very helpful . One bedroom suite is spacious and clean. Club privileges are really beyond my expectations: there are lots of varieties of afternoon tea selection and happy hours food buffet selection . One time complimentary use Mini Bar for each stay . Anyway , I am impressed on the hotel and my family had very wonderful time during staying in the hotel . Very appreciated.

Quite a disappointing and bizarre experience for IC global standards. Hotel was a surprise given it’s size and beautiful gardens are right in the middle of Shanghai but service and cleanliness were poor. Felt like the place was being run by a lazy General Manager who had let things go.

I’d return - a wonderful place!

Love the grounds - an oasis in a busy city. Our room was in the Art Deco building- a nice reminder to times past. The room was spacious, beds were comfortable, location perfect for exploring the former French Concession, staff were professional and efficient. The setting in their own park-like area was very appreciated. It was fun to watch the modeling photo shoots and weddings, too.

Had a lovely stay, the gardens are beautiful and I would highly recommend this hotel to those who want to stay in the French Concession.
The only negative is that if you want to use the pool you are required to purchase a bathing cap from them which, although common in public pools in China, is unusual in an international hotel. If they insist on keeping this rule it would be nice if you could borrow a cap.

Lovely quiet bubble in the city

The hotel lobby can be a little challenging to find at first when in a taxi, but once you arrive it’s lovely. The hotel grounds make you feel like you are in a lovely lush bubble away from the busy city. The staff is friendly and super helpful. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The hotel is in a great location in the French Concession close to great restaurants and the metro.

Lovely 5star Hotel; lovely property; 5star service

When I went to check in, I realized I didn't have my passport and got upset. The hotel manager personally assisted me to obtain the required paperwork needed for check in without passport. He further personally saw to several needs and questions I had. The pool and health club are in a lovely old mansion on the property, which is maintained immaculately. Highly recommend this property; close to many attractions; Walking distance to restaurants and shopping.

Its too darn HOT. Turn the heating off!

It is a lovely styled hotel, BUT... it is unbearably hot. The heating is turned on in the entire building all the time. We moved twice to try and find a cooler room. Finally we had to sleep with the door off the balcony open and put a fan in front of it to try and cool the room down. Due to this I would not be rebooking here on my next trip. I ended up moving to Les Suites Orient on the Bund where you can actually control the temperature of the rooms.

Shanghai Surprise

The most amazing location and grounds and hotel combination. Quiet and secluded but right on a main thorough fare - grounds are simply stunning. Because the grounds are so spacious - you feel like you are in the countryside. Once you step outside the gate you realize you are in the hustle and bustle thick of Shanghai. Staff is incredibly accommodating. Excellent place to stay!

This is an attraction on its own, for the history and the beautiful gardens in the hotel grounds. Intercontinental Ruijin is an oasis in the buzzing city of Shanghai and a peaceful and calming place to call home. The bed is huge and really comfortable, the breakfast spread is quite amazing and the amenities in the room and out were all pretty outstanding. The only thing lacking is proper training of the hotel staff, especially those at the front desk and the bell boys. Also, the lobby could do with a little music and some essence in the air.

Truly a beautiful hotel. The grounds are spectacular, and the surrounding neighborhood is very safe, with plenty of parks, shopping, etc. The breakfast/dinner buffets have a wide variety of excellent food, but very pricey. I would recommend looking into adding on the \"club\" access for happy hour.

Oasis in Shanghai

The facility is beautiful as are the grounds. Its 15 acres are a true oasis in the middle of busy Shanghai. The rooms are large with everything you could possibly want. The staff and bell staff are also very good, however, the waitstaff could be a little more proactive and speak a little bit better English. Still, I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Great hotel with great staff

We stayed here as a part of our honeymoon in China.

The front desk staff are so helpful, they did everything possible to help us to enjoy our time in the hotel and the city.

We stayed in a club room with access to the club lounge - this has a breakfast, afternoon tea and an evening happy hour there is also a cigar room. We spent a lot of time in there and again the staff were very good.

Room was wonderful and the check-in staff very good. However, the general staff in all areas of the hotel are in quick need of additional training if they are to identify themselves as a 5 star hotel. All very extremely pleasant but the timing of their service is very poor. It took over 30 minutes to be served a drink in the lounge and we were the only guests in there. Behaviour of the children in the dining room was terrible with them playing hide and seek around the food service area (+ hands in and out of all the food) and the tables. If you want a quiet evening meal experience - go elsewhere. Breakfast food selection was outstanding!!

The twin room was large and comfortable and location in the FC was great. The bathroom was not ideal for sharing (except with your partner/family) Only 600ml of drinking water per person was provided each day, Tea and coffee facilities were great however only 2 coffee pods were provided (one of them decaf) so we had to ask at reception for extras. The Concierge were very helpful but they seemed a little new to their jobs. The lobby was beautiful and the bar a lovely place to sit. Room service was not quite organised and most days things would be missing (face washers, old soap taken but not replaced, etc....) We would have liked a map of the grounds with a little historical detail on it as the grounds were extensive and beautiful and I'm sure really interesting.

Beautiful Hotel

This is a very classy hotel located in the old French concession. The remodeling was completed in 2009 and everything is still very well maintained. I loved the marble floors and shadeliers in the lobby and the rooms. I like the location also. It is about 5 minutes walk to Si-Yuan Gongguan (shopping area converted from old European style buildings) and about 15 minutes walk to Xin Tian Di. The people working at the hotel were nice and polite but the problem was that they kept telling you that the hotel is only 30 minutes by taxi to the Hongqiao Train Station (the station for all the bullet trains). Well, it takes at least 40 minutes to an hour in the morning. And with a ticket, you should arrive at least 10-20 minutes before departure.. The traffic in Shanghai is terrible and they should know it. It would take about at least 40-50 minutes to Hongqiao Airport in the morning. It also takes a while (15-20 minutes) to get a taxi outside the lobby and may take much longer during traffic hours. Another thing was that I pre-ordered a taxi at the hotel, but it wasn't there waiting for me outside the lobby at the time.

古色古香的建築，仍有現代化的舒適度，寬廣的庭院阻隔了周遭的噪音。

性價比不錯。雖然是歷史性老建築，但是維持的很好，所以建築風格雖然老舊，仍然有現代化的舒適度。浴室有古典式的四腳浴缸，不過浴巾稍嫌厚重些，使用起來較笨重。庭院很大，環境清幽安靜，但叫車不易，離地鐵站稍遠，約步行15分鐘。早餐內容豐富，選擇多樣化，服務員也很親切。但中餐廳價位與口味較不相稱。

女友達2人での旅行だった為シングル2台の部屋を予約していました。チェックインがPM10時頃になることを予約時に伝えていましたが、いざチェックインの時にその部屋はもう埋まっていると言われました。部屋のアップグレードはして頂きましたがキングベッド1台の部屋に3日間宿泊しました。
環境、景観、外観、内観は素晴らしいですがアメニティは貧相です。シャワー水圧はちょっと物足りないくらいです。トイレは問題なしですがウォシュレットは無いです。
素敵な別荘に宿泊する感覚で中々他にないホテルなので一度は泊まってみてもいいと思いますがリピートはしないと思います。

We have appreciated a lot our stay in InterContintental Ruijin.
The place is very nice, in a big parc in the middle of the French concession. The room was large and clean, in a nice Art Deco building.

2019年GW中に２泊しました。ホテル敷地のあるゲートを入ってからでさえ、タクシーがフロント棟が何処か迷うほどの広大な敷地です。手入れが行き届いた広い庭園に歴史的建物１号館2号館やロビー館などが点在してます。それらを見学するだけでもホテルに宿泊する意味があると思いました。
私たちが予約したツイン部屋は3号館にあり、専用カートで移動しました。ゆとりある広さの部屋で、静かで清潔感があり申し分なかったのですが、「春」という季節になったとのことでエアコンが暖房モードにならず少し寒かったです。また、やや小さめの窓からの眺望は宿泊代に比例しているようです。
幾つかあるレストランのうち、ロビー棟にあるレストランはリーズナブルな価格の一品料理もあり重宝しました。ホテル外にはコンビニもありました。
