The hotel is in an amazing location and has an outstanding view, especially after the abundant rain this year in Morocco which filled up the lake! The place is really beautiful.

For the rest...the hotel is a bit dated in places. The first room we were given was very dark, had tiny windows and a \"view\" on some rocks - which they described as mountain views. it was definitely more a no view whatsoever. The shower pressure in this room was terrible and the temperature of the water oscilated between freezing and boiling...

We paid a bit extra to change to a lake view room, it was worth it as we had a balcony, air and light in the room. the shower was slightly better but the temperature kept changing too.

The food at the restaurant was overpriced and not great, we ordered a steak sandwich which had mainly fat and no taste.
The breakfast was also disappointing, quite low quality, not replenished fast enought, the omellette made to order was bland and very greasy...

In summary, we loved the experince for the location and the view but the other aspects of this hotel have a lot of room for improvement.

the place is nice, however the service is the closest thing to a disaster I have ever seen. Communication barrier is the leitmotif. You ask something in English, you are told to wait for someone who speaks English and that someone pretends to speak in English. Went for dinner: I was served a beef fillet which was unedible. Returned. Had to pay anyway. The place is nice, the service is the opposite.Mixed feelings. Not coming back even if the only option left on earth.

A Long One - Please Read

I only have 1500 characters so i'll abridge myself. If you spend that per you don't expect to be told that you get 2 coffee pods and 2 bottles of water per stay no matter the length,when I requested add'l pods as we were on our 3rd night, I was told to order room service £!+sc, same for water. Given that anyone staying at this hotel has had a very long car ride no matter where you come from the reception staff are pretty bad (well at least 75%of the people I encountered). When we arrived after a 4.5hour drive the woman at reception was already being rude to the man who was just checking in (I've already told you this!!) is what she said in an aggressive tone. my experience with started at that level and went down. We asked to move rooms as despite being 50% full and £!!!pp AND Hotel.com membership entitling me to a free upgraded we still had to pay for a room that was facing a mountain and temp of a fridge, we moved with the help of the only helpful receptionist, but the 1st recp. misinformed us deliberately & told us we couldn't change until 8pm, we moved b4 3pm. I felt unwell & asked to take the remains of my dinner to the room & was told I could even though room service trays were sent from there, the cafe where you have lunch works on a you arrive they leave basis so a minimum wait is 15mins, inc for you bill, some guests can sign to room, some cant, they dont tell you why.you have to eat in 3 different places. Breakfast great, couldn't be better, restaurant hit miss

Nestled in the Atlas Mountains and away from the bustle of city life, this resort offers breath taking views of lake Bin El Ouidane and the small villages that surround the area, the road that leads to the hotel has the feel of the Italian coastline with a Moroccan touch, the staff is super friendly and are quick to respond to any request with top notch quality of service and appreciation, this resort offers too beautiful pools, a great restaurant and activities relating to the lake like kayaking and boating, the area offers plenty of hiking trails for the outdoor enthusiasts. I would highly recommend getting a suite with lake view as it will take your breath away.

I had to leave a day before my supposed departure and the desk staff was very accommodating and refunded the day I didn’t stay, top notch.

The facility is to a very high standard, but it is simply shambolic in terms of how it is managed. Check in was a farce where we ended up waiting over an hour in the corner, the Wi-Fi did not work, the air conditioning failed and the staff did not seem to care. To be fair things did improve when the manager became involved, and the dinner was lovely, but be prepared for issues.

The view is wonderful and the place is characterized by calmness and the beauty of nature. The available activities are few and the cleanliness is excellent. The hotel manager is very cooperative, but the place lacks restaurants and an outside session, as we tried dinner or lunch in the hotel’s external restaurant and every time it is fully reserved for private groups and the restaurant manager is uncooperative and cannot Providing you with tables for hotel guests, which makes you feel bored because you have to dine in the same place every day.... talal kuwait

This is a facility that I enjoyed, although I do not think it is well managed.

Breakfast: outstanding omelette station, and so is bread and coffee selection.

Lunch/dinner: avoid, otherwise you will ruin your stay. I would choose cookies and chips over what either restaurant offers. Food comes in a beautiful presentation, but taste is not. It is puzzling to me as to how could someone get a bad meal in Morocco.

We went for the private boat ride and really enjoyed it.

WiFi connection in the room was another issue that could have been avoided. It was either off or weak

I was very excited about staying at the hotel because of the lovely bright blue lake. I was given a rather small room with two windows one of which led out onto a covered conservatory/terrace. There was quite a small bathroom with a dirty bath which was a little difficult to get into because of the wide surround. Small towels were provided. There was limited space for toiletries around the sink. There was little spare space for my belongings because the only table provided had a coffee machine & some fruit fruit. There was a hard bed with just two pillows and a duvet. Water was provided along with nice smelling soaps and lotions. The room was very dark if the windows were shuttered. The only English speaking TV channel was CNN. The loo was broken when I arrived but that was swiftly fixed. A big safe was provided in a cupboard but it wasn’t fixed to anything. I had dinner in the hotel and that was quite tasty. The pool area was nice (two pools one down by the lake, the other higher up). Parking was easy and I was collected by golf buggy and taken to the main hotel. Sadly the lake didn’t look the turquoise blue as depicted on the website… maybe it was due to the cloudy weather.

Amazing stay, but could improve

Amazing spot, excellent location and perfect postal card view. However, you would expect some facilities which were not provided (even though it was 30 degreesC, the pool was freezing and no one could use it).
Overall I would definitely recommend staying there even though the hotel could do better regarding the price they charge.

Stayed here for a night en route to Essaouira from Fez (my wife, teenage daughter and I) - to get a glimpse of the Atlas mountains. The hotel is built on a hillside, and stands out like a concrete eyesore. Once inside the room, one could be anywhere in the world in a 3/4 star hotel. No local touches here. granted one could step out on a private balcony to view the lake, but this was somewhat spoilt as there was a bunch of young lads on a balcony above who were very loud. They could look over into our balcony, so privacy was compromised.

The staff (with the exception of the check in experience) are clueless, and very offhandish. Not a sinlge staff member was around when we went down for dinner. Went for a stroll and came back to find a number of people in the dining area. The menu is limited, so we spen tsome time looking at options which worked for us. When we finally got the waiters attention, we were told that there wasn't any chicken tagine. Some basic training is required - should have been told when the menu was being handed out. Ordered a lamb tagine instead with other starters and mains. The food was good, but no lamb tagine. The waiter didn't put it through (I speak Arabic). When the tagine finally arrived, the meat was tough and we ended up leaving all of it on the plates. Not once were we asked if the food was alright.
Asked to speak to the duty manager, and was informed there was none!
Breakfast next morning was an excellent buffet.
Dissapointing at the price.

Absolutely no recommendation for the Widian Hotel

One of the most rated hotels, totally overpriced, unsatisfactory service and monstrous responses in case of justified complaints.

The hotel has a wonderful location with stunning views of the lake and countryside. The architecture of the hotel is also attractive. Since the walkways are rather demanding because of the difference in height, the guests of golf carts are approached. That does not work really well and costs a lot of time. Despite golf carts there are long ways to go and the walkways are not really efficient. But all this is acceptable.

Too bad the service is little friendly and little customer oriented. The waiters are hidden in the adjoining rooms and deal with your smartphones, the reception is little personal and the housekeeping permanents close the doors in the whole complex very very loud, which makes a stay in the room or on the balcony during the room maintenance very hard.

Our complaint about the lack of TV reception was not solved in the four days of our stay. Really annoying. The employees give a lot of effort to explain why the technique and electricity in the mountains do not always work, rather than to solve the problem seriously. Also the supply of the minibar and the care products was difficult, certainly also because of the mountain situation, I suppose :-(.

Since the hotel calls very high prices and everything in the hotel is very expensive, we felt the service was very disappointing and the self-understanding not appropriate.

Fabulous pool and great views of the lake. The two swimming pools are wonderful. Staff was very nice, but did not anticipate needs (like there were never clean towels at the pool, and the dirty ones weren't picked up quickly). The food was not very good And extremely expensive. Overall, only worth it if you get a cheap price.

Just don't expect five star service

Gorgeous setting and immaculate grounds but you are rather left to your own devices to work out how things work. I had to go searching for staff to help as the place was deserted and the receptionist is a little rude. Food is rather limited if you were thinking about a longer stay and as you'd expect from a destination resort you pay a lot for everything, quite the contrast to the rest of Morocco we'd experienced. But it was gorgeous and very relaxing

we searched long and hard for a good place to break our drive from Fez to Marrakech and settled upon the Beni Malal area which is not abundant with first class hotels.we found this suppoosedly first class suite hotel on a lake nearby and although the price was steep we decided to splurge.After a very long and tiring drive we arrived c 19:00 at what appeared to be a nice facility.First drawback - no entry with the car to reception - u have to unload the car at a parking area at the foot of a hill and wait for a gold cart type vehocle to come pick u up from the hotel.This took around 15 minutes.Upon arrival at reception we were met by a very sour faced receptionist as opposed to the usual warm Morrocan welcome we had become accustomed to.We had to wait 10 minutes while he attended to another guest - no welcome drink or even welcome smile.Amercian Express or Diners Club were not accepted even though my room was already paid for via Hotels.com.Ended up leaving 500 Euro cash as deposit!.Then finally shown to our room with the same gold club - discovered whole hotel is on a steep slope with about 100 steps from lobby to room - and ours was the lowest level just above the pool.Room was painted a dark red making it appear dark and smaller than it was.

Nous Avons réservés à travers hôtels.com pour 2 nuitées en amoureux dans un hôtel soit disant 5 étoiles et de renom.
Arrivés sur les lieux et après un enregistrement standard, on nous a laissé prendre nous même sans aide la direction assez difficile et en labyrinthe de notre chambre.
Grande déception en voyant la chambre , assez vieillotte avec des meubles non digne d’un 5 étoiles, et une climatisation qui fonctionnait au ralenti, température 35° à l’extérieur ,sans pouvoir y remédier.
Le soir on s’est plaint au niveau de la réception où on était bien accueilli et conseillé par Rajaa qui nous a suggéré de changer de chambre dans un autre bâtiment assez récent moyennant un supplément.
Sur le site hôtels.com les 2 chambres étaient au même tarif.
Mais l’hôtel a quand même insisté pour qu’on paye le supplément. Très déçu de leur attitude.
