Had to leave after first night.

If you’re looking for a cheap place to stay then this is a good spot but if you care about comfort, hygiene and cleanliness DO NOT STAY HERE! The ceiling in the bathroom was covered in mold. The pillows were rock hard because of the terrible mold inside of them. I stayed one night and got the hell out of there as soon as I could! The bathroom was dirty, the sheets were stained and the smell of mold and rotting was extremely strong that I was worried for my health.
The staff is friendly and the location is pretty good but I would not recommend staying here, happy I got my money back.

Very homely homestay, set in their lovely ornate garden with their birds tweeting! The room is fine, and even has a hot shower! Each day, a flask of tea (or perhaps coffee if chosen) is put out ready on your porch (a thoughtful gesture) and you just let them know when you are ready for breakfast- the breakfast varies each day so it is not monotonous. A haven in Ubud!

Not happy by the treatment of the hotel to birds

The grounds are lovely apart from all the caged birds. There are at least 15 of them living in really small cages.

There is a bird near the reception which although not caged was chained by it's ankle, and when we arrived it looked very distressed and was gnawing at the chain.

As an animal lover I found all of this very off putting.

I believe there should be a warning when booking about all of this.

For further information regarding the injustice of keeping caged birds there is plenty of information on the internet including on the PETA website.

Also, the room smelled really bad as if the bedding hadn't been washed properly, and my girlfriend was unable to sleep because of this.

Wifi was poor, but okay for the price paid.

Sad about the birds and the smell because if those problems were addressed it could be a lovely place.

Nick's Homestay is a real gem

I stayed at Nick's Homestay twice. I came back the second time because I enjoyed my first visit so much. The staff is very friendly and the breakfast scrumptious. This is within walking distance to most everything in downtown Ubud.

Just ok

The Homestay was well located and in walking distance to many restaurants, yoga studios, cultural performances, etc. Guests staying at Nick's homestay can use the pool at Nick's pension (15-20 walk). Nick's pension is much nicer and having a pool to dunk into after spending a day in the sweltering heat is a real treat. Nick's homestay is their first location. The rooms were old and needed maintenance. They could also be cleaned better. The washrooms started to smell after the 2nd day. If you are looking for a cheap hostel like room this would be fine. If you are looking for something a bit better i would recommend looking at other homestays.

Nice homestay in Ubud area

I stay there for 2 nights. I am not quite comfortable with the bed. It is quite hard. The toilet is clean but have bad odors. However, the staffs are very warm and nice. They are really helpful. I also like the breakfast. Thanks

A Homestay must

I stayed at Nick's for four days then went away and came back for another 4 days. The staff here are really friendly. The property is beautiful and the location is awesome - I walked everywhere

A Slice of Balinese Life

This boutique hotel has 11 guest rooms located within a traditional Balinese style compound, which comprises a family temple and living quarters for an extended family of three generations - and they do still live in the compound. There are ornate shrines (typical of Balinese homes), ancient bird cages, a couple of dogs running loose, children heading off to school in the morning, the matriarch making offerings every couple of days. Sometimes the family sits in the outdoor \"sala\" at the center of the compound and watch television or chat. So it really is a home stay, and you get to see a slice of Balinese life. The architecture and grounds are beautiful. I arrived at night, and I was blown away when I awoke the next morning and discovered just how beautiful the grounds were. The rooms are simple, but the bed was comfortable. They have front porches, where you are served a simple breakfast in the morning. Beer is sold at reception. Overall, good value for money. The bathrooms might disappoint. There are ceiling fans but no air conditioning, telephone, or television. The location is excellent - lots of cafes, boutiques, and day spas nearby as well as an excellent supermarket. Also a couple of bars.

Friendly hotel, good location

Well located right on one of the main road. Situated between Monkey Sanctuary and Ubud Palace. Staff was very kind and always available to help if needed. Room cleaned every day. No AC or hot water, but that is standard at this price range. Beautiful grounds with cool birds -- but can be a little noisey when trying to sleep in.

Nice and ventral place to stay in ubud

We first booked the cheapest room they offer but then upgraded to a better one because the bathroom was really old. The new room was very modern and nicely furnsihed. Breakfast was excellent. Very nice garden and very central.

Auf jeden Fall einen Raum mit Klimaanlage buchen!

Das Zimmer war sehr klein, aber ausreichend für ein paar Tage, da man in Ubud eig. eh fast den ganzen Tag unterwegs ist! Es war jedoch sehr dunkel, das Bett nicht sonderlich bequem das Bad grenzwertig und ohne eigenes richtiges Waschbecken! Wir hatten leider nur einen Ventilator im Zimmer, wodurch es in der Nacht extrem heiß und schwül wurde! Die Zimmer ohne Klimaanlage würde ich dort definitiv nicht buchen! Die Anlage an sich ist sehr schön und die Leute freundlich! Jedoch sollte man Touren oder Shuttle/Taxifahrten selbstständig organisieren, da sie dort vollkommen überhöhte Preise verlangen! Das Frühstück war ok, aber wenig abwechslungsreich. Wir haben eig. jeden Tag Bananentoast und ein wenig Obst bekommen...

Bra och lugnt!

Vi stannade hos Nick's homestay i två nätter och var väldigt nöjda med deras service och den lugna fina bakgården man bor på. En liten oas bakom den trafikerade gatan. Vi hade dock otur och tajmade in vår vistelse med övningarna till deras nyårsparad vilket innebar att de repade med trummor i byggnaden bredvid till midnatt varje kväll. Om ni vill kunna sova, åk inte hit veckorna före 8 mars ;) Inte så fräscht badrum och man får räkna med myror. Annars toppen!

初めてのウブドで２泊しました。モンキーフォレストの近くで立地は良いのですが、入り口が狭く道路は一方通行でタクシーも停車しづらい状態でした。庭はきれいにされていて、小鳥もいたる所に飼われておりステキです。朝食はあまり期待できません。水周りはシャワーのみで、臭いも気になりました。私たちが泊まった部屋には洗面所がなく、探したら外にありホッとしました。バリの相場がわかりませんが、コスト的には満足です。

Felt Like home

Vi havde et super godt ophold ved nick's homestay! Personalet var meget (!!) hjælpsomme og meget søde og smilende. Værelset var lækkert, rent og med god rummelighed. Morgenmaden var god, og de forsøgte at efterkomme ens ønsker, hvis den planlagte made ikke lige var det man ville have.
Haven var helt vildt idyllisk og rigtig dejlig. Det eneste minus var de mange haner om morgenen, som ikke altid lige havde det bedste indre ur, og derfor begyndte at gale halv tre om natten - men hey, hvis du har et par ørepropper med, så får du helt sikkert et helt fantastisk ophold her. Det kan varmt anbefales!

Det var super hyggeligt og autentisk. Men man må ikke være sart. Der er utroligt lydhør og der kan være meget larm, hvis man risikerer at ens nabo snorker som en Bjørn. Samtidig er der en masse dyr, så hvis man ikke er glad for dyr, så skal man heller ikke overnatte her. Servicen er fint og det ligger centralt i ubud tæt på Monkey forrest

9日間のバリ旅行のうち3日間ニックズで過ごしました。快適過ぎて文句なしです。Wi-Fiは安定してるし、スタッフも優しく親切。口コミ見て決めましたが正解でした。私たちは二階の部屋だったのでサンライズが綺麗に見れました。
朝食は部屋まで持ってきてくれてバルコニーで食べました。近くにお店も充実してて場所はかなりいいです‼ただ部屋に冷蔵庫はないです。ウブドから色んな観光スポットへは行きやすいので本当にニックズおすすめします！
2日間別のウブドの宿に泊まりましたが、彼とニックズのがいいねと話したくらい。冷房は無いけど比較的涼しくて問題なかったです。
9日間で色んな宿をこのサイトで見つけて泊まりましたが、ニックズが1番アットホームでした

This place has really amazing garden, it's quit and beautiful, hidden from all traffic of the streets. Room it's ok and has air conditioner, bathroom not nice, could be renovated..I had problem with hot water but boys who work there was kind and fix it even was late evening. Stay for money value.

ウブド中心部からは少し距離があるが、ハノマン通りを入ったところにあり、近くにスーパーやおいしいローカルワルンなどもあるので不便というわけではない。施設もわりと新しく、水回りはかなり清潔感があった。部屋も広い。従業員はとても親切で笑顔で話しかけてくれる。タオルは頼まなければ新しいものに替えてくれなかった。部屋に冷蔵庫がないのが残念。鳥がたくさん飼ってあり、朝は鳥の鳴き声で目が覚める。このホテルに限ったことではないが、蚊などの虫が多いので虫除けやかゆみ止めは必須。エアコンなしでファンのみだったが夜はわりと涼しかった。朝食はバナナや卵のホットサンドにカットフルーツでおいしかった。全体的にコストパフォーマンスは良いと感じた。

Razoável para o preço

Fiz a reserva em uma promoção, e há lugares melhores pelo mesmo preço em Ubud, e com localização igualmente excelente. A cama era boa, porém, não há pia no banheiro e o quarto tinha cheiro de naftalina. A localização é realmente muito boa, sendo possível caminhar para ir ao mercado e à floresta dos macacos.

Best Place in Ubud

Definatly the best place we stayed on total the Bali trip. The room was excellent with a great terrace, the location is absolutely perfect, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful as well as bringing breakfast to your to your room every day. The actualy place and garden is incredible and perfect if you want to relax in a quiet environment yet you can walk 1 minute down the road and you are right in the centre. Only downside the annoying hens that start singing from 05.00 in the morning onwards but apart from that this is one of the best places I have stayed in accross the world
