I thought was good hotel.but it was bit a dirty at some point.No ones want to stay there. I paid 20$ for the breakfast.it was wasted money.It’s not worth it as a price.never gonna go again

Unique experience in a well kept Ryokan. We enjoyed cycling around the town and checking out Japanese architecture. The breakfasts and dinner at the ryokan were exceptional traditional meals well worth the reasonable cost. Enjoyed the Japanese style bathing and peaceful environment

Interesting Ryokan with History

It’s got Long history. First thing that struck us was hmm .. the lack of guests. The staff that checked us in also served us dinner and breakfast. Luggage had to be lifted and carried not rolled on the tatami.

Nice and quiet stay

Miyazu is a small quiet town. There is not much around when you get off the train station apart from walking to your hotel. Took us about 15 minutes to find the hotel. Surprisingly, there's a shopping centre close by, and bus stops to get to Amanohashidate. Our room is very spacious with sitting areas, bath and toilet, with aircon. The wooden bathtub is like an antique exhibit of this historic building. We just used the public baths. Within 2 minutes walk from the hotel is the seaside park looking across to the Amanohashidate sandbar. The views on the sea are stunning.
Hotel staff are friendly and the breakfast is superb. Even though there was not much to do at night in this small town, we enjoyed our stay very much.

Pleasant sleep in this historical Ryokan

This is a very traditional Ryokan that operates as a local museum during the day.

The rooms are quite spacious, and ours overlooked a beautiful and serene garden. Staff was very friendly and helpful when it came to information on local sights and how to get to them. Bicycles can be rented and are really a nice way to see the area. We biked to Amanohashidate rather than take the available train or bus. My bicycle was in need of some TLC - but rentals from other services seemed to be in the same condition.

Breakfast is very traditional Japanese style and served in a large room on the third floor. As a Westerner I am not used to sitting cross legged on the floor in my yukata and a chair was offered to me. I toughed it out.

Location is quite nice - there are very few places to eat in the immediate area, but quite a few nice places in Amanohashidate - which is about 2km away.

The lobby is filled with books and brochures - many in English - which can provide a sense of history for visitors.

I was quite pleased with my stay.

Not new....and grateful for it!

This was a great place to stay in the area......from the traditional ryokan days. The rooms and bath was clean however there could be renovations or deep cleaning some areas that would make coming back easier! We stayed for three days and hope that it will remain open and serving guests for many years to come. Internet could be stronger and available in the rooms. The service, the atmosphere, and the way that ryokan allows a visitor to touch Japan.....was lovely.

Truly Disappointing Stay

It took me a while to consider how to write this in order to shed some objective light on how this ryokan is poorly run and lack of upkeep. My views are mostly negative and different from those below (relied on which I had unfortunately booked a room for one night at ¥13000 without any meals and was in deep regret):-
- the ladies at the reception were effcient in checking me in.
- no one offered to bring my luggage to my room. Having waited for a while, I ended up carrying it myself up the two flights of stairs which are narow and precarious.
- the carpets in the hallway were full of water stain. Being a culturally preserved structure isn't an excuse for leaving your property in a dilapidated state. Pls live up to your name and reputation!
- the room itself was spacious and clean though.Yet the toilet was smelly probably due to the old drainage system.
- the public bath was disastrous-dirty and apparently no one was there to do the regular cleaning throughout the evening.
- when I checked out at 07:30 the following morning to go to Ine, I again had to carry the suitcase back down. The other reviews mentioned shuttle service between the train station was just a myth in my case. Although a couple was dropped off right right front, neither the lady nor the driver offered to give me a ride when I told them that I was headed for Miyazu station.
This was by far my worst experience in staying at a Japanese ryokan.

Firstly, please read the reviews that other guests have posted about this Hotel ; the good and not so good comments are accurate.
Secondly, I regret not booking a two night stay.

\"Experience is everything\" - how could you come to Japan and miss out on a Ryokan stopover..??

Excellent!

I travel to Miyazu for sightseeing (Amanohashidate, Ine no Funaya and Kyougamisaki). You can either walk to the Ryokan (about 15 minutes from the Miyazu Train Station) or go by bus (Miyazu Train station to Michinoeki). The bus stop is close to the Ryokan. Also, there is a supermarket nearby. You can get most of the supply in there.

The Male stuff of the ryokan is friendly and helpful. Upon arrival, he gave me some useful information about sightseeing route and traffic .

The room is a bit old and wearing (but it is acceptable, since the ryokan is an very old building) Overall it is quite comfortable.

This is an incredible place to stay if you wish to immerse yourself with traditional Japanese culture. Everything from the traditional room to the bath house is representative of Japan at its very best. Besides the rice pillow which took some getting used to this hotel was an absolute golden find. Absolutely stay here and visit this beautiful town.

We stayed 1 night at Seikiro. We choose this hotel as we can't get a room in the Amanohashidate area at a reasonable price. The hotel came and pick us up from the train station so we don't have to find our way to the hotel with our luggage. We got a room on the ground floor with a view outlook to the garden which was great. However, I guess the tradeoff of being on the ground floor is we also have spiders and ants in our room which was not that pleasant especially we were sleeping on tatami. The bathroom and shower was really dated but generally clean. The breakfast was great. We thought there were wifi in the room but it was actually only available in the lobby. We planned to take the ferry to Amanohashidate the next day. When we checked out, we were told it was only 3 minutes left to the departure time of the ferry and the next ferry would be 1.5 hours after. The staff immediately helped us with our luggage and drove us to the ferry terminal right away. We managed to get on the ferry last minute and the hotel staff also talked to the staff at the ferry terminal to make sure we will be taken care of. We really appreciate his effort and service in this regard.

A wonderful Ryokan Experience

A very old Ryokan - the building is over 100 years old, more like a museum now! In fact, this Ryokan has been in business for over 300 years. A genuine Japanese Ryokan experience. Try the Japanese breakfast too! Plenty of restaurants nearby (and they had English menu!).

An old time charm

It was a surprise to find out this hotel has almost 300 years history. Old but very well maintained. Typical Japanese personal care from the hotel owner, has a lot of history need time to digest. Will go again next trip and spend more than one night there. Short walk to a beach park and a shopping mall, you can flush back to the current time quickly.

Fabulous Ryokan experience - I have stayed in a few and this one had lovely rooms, great food and excellent service. I recommend ordering dinner as this is part of the traditional inn idea. I would say the bathrooms were also museum pieces though and the sento could do with some maintenance.

Japanese-style accommodation near Amanohashidate

On arrival, we were greeted by the current owner, the 13th in the family to run the hotel, and given a tour of the cultural heritage, architecture and artefacts kept by the hotel. He also was very helpful about local attractions, and transport options for seeing them.

The rooms themselves were comfortable, Japanese style (you sleep on a futon in a tatami room), and well heated in winter. We had a balcony with a good view of the garden.

I hadn't found the options for breakfast and dinner on the Expedia site, so on the first night we ate elsewhere. The owner showed us where the local restaurants could be found, and provided us with a map of the area. We ordered the kaiseki meal for our second night and breakfast for the second morning. If staying here, I would recommend ordering at least the breakfast option, as there is little available in the local area. The kaiseki is also well worth it, as an indulgence.

Autumn stay of close friends in Miyazu.

We had a good time at Seiki Ryokan. Sei, who was the owner was very welcoming and have a very good relation with the people at the main bus/train station in Miyazu. We arrived with a fairly rain pour and we were not sure how to go to the hotel. The station staff at the information room helped call our hotel and Mr. Sei picked us up personally. The place is close to the Catholic church and the main site Amanohashidate and of course it has an onsen available twice a day :)

AWonderful Place.

The Seiriko Ryokan Historical Hotel is a wonderful place to stay for the true feeling of traditional Japan. It is all wood and my room was large by Wesrtern standard. Westerners should not be put off by the futon. Mine was extremely comfortable. For wesren tastes too there is a table and chairs. The hotel picked me up and dropped me at the station. The owner was extremely helpful. Fantastic experience.

Great ryokan experience

We stayed for one night and our time here was the best part of our trip. The owner drove us to and from the train station and gave a quick tour of the town. He also showed us around the ryokan which doubles as a museum; it was really cool hearing some of the history of the place and his family.

The ryokan is an old building but very well kept considering its age (200 or 300 years old). The staff is so friendly and the owner speaks very good english. The ryokan is 10-15 minute bike ride away from Amanohashidate but it's so much more affordable than places in Amanohashidate. We had breakfast and it was very good and filling. We had dinner outside based on a recommendation of the owner and it was very good too. We'd love to return one day to stay longer and try dinner in the ryokan. We had such a great time there and highly recommend this place.

Something special

The owner of the ryokan was so interesting and proud of his establishment. it is old but the age is the charm of this place. I really loved the tour he gave us,the illustration ideas on his walls. I was accommodated very well as a vegetarian for breakfast too. It was a lovely night at a lovely place where we were cared for well. I would recommend this place to anyone.

아주 편하고 친절한 료칸

료칸이라 추울줄 알았는데 온방과 이불과 매트사이에 warmer를 넣어주고 온방기가 있어 춥지 않았습니다. 침구도 아주 편하고 이네마을 가는 버스정류장도 가깝고 아주 가까이 mipple 마트가 있어서 위치도 좋습니다. 대욕장도 Good.

至少300年以上悠久歷史，猶如小型美術館的清輝樓，第13代老闆十分好客、親切且精通外語，等待的同時，老闆貼心的介紹大広間有300年以上的弧形天花板，200年的12月份季節畫作以及100年「蒼龍臥波」題字！！

朝食はシンプルな和定食ですが美味しくってご飯のおかわりをしてしまいました。
綺麗なお部屋でないと無理って言う人にはお勧めできませんが、歴史的建造物に興味のある人には良いのかも？

有形文化財の建物は趣きがあり興味のある方には滞在も楽しめるかと思いますが、部屋の壁やカーテン、庭園などは手入れが不足している印象がありました。浴室には蚊や蜘蛛がいたためゆっくり寛ぐことはできませんでした。
朝食はとても美味しく、仲居をされていた方も笑顔が優しく癒されました。

スタッフは笑顔で、とっても気持ちよかったです。
ただ、写真で外観を見ただけで、あれだけ歴史のある古い建物だとは思いませんでした。
古いものを、お好みの方には素敵でしょうが、私たちは洗面所・トイレ・お風呂がもう少し近代的なほうが嬉しかったです。
それ以外は気持ちよく過ごせました。
