The Seventy Four is like a step back in time… and there are lots of things to do within an easy drive when not enjoying the peace afforded by the ranch. The owner was a longtime news anchor in Atlanta. Her exciting life has given her a bottomless bag of riveting stories that add spice to the tasty breakfasts she prepares. The horses are gentle and well-trained and the rolling meadows dotted with cattle are calendar-pic worthy.

Everything was absolutely perfect. The owner Pam is delightful, and thinks of anything and everything you might need. She made us a wonderful breakfast, met everyone’s needs, and is a fabulous host. We met the ranch hands and the beautiful horses too. Our cabin was so well equipped that we wouldn’t have had to bring anything! Best place we have ever stayed because it was so enjoyable.

The view from the overlook suite was stunning - starry skies and the sounds of crickets at night and an atmospheric, foggy view over the fields in the morning, with the staff readying the horses to ride down below. 74 Ranch is a very special place!! The scenery is gorgeous, especially with the horses meandering through the pastures.

We discovered the ranch almost by accident as we had a spare day before our flight home to the UK from Nashville, and decided to visit Georgia to tick off another State. We were recommended the Ellijay area, and settled on this as a good area choice and somewhere a little different. It's certainly different! The main house has some accommodation rooms, which share bathrooms, but we chose the overlook suite, which has a private bathroom. The accommodations are amazingly furnished and decorated, and the house is full of history. Pam, the owner was very friendly and gave us a tour of the house and grounds on arrival. The suite was very comfortable and well equipped, and breakfast was great, accompanied Pam telling us some of the history of the house. We wish we could have spent longer. The only drawback for some could be the proximity of the road which can be a little noisy (it didn't bother us as we live by a road anyway!). Also, if you are used to a Holiday Inn/ Best Western etc., you will find this a little different!! All in all a great experience.

This place came reccomended by a wedding venue close by and it was very convenient for that, but i would not book a stay again. My daughter had the Master bedroom and the view was gorgeous (as promised) but the shared bathroom was actually shared by 3 rooms so you heard flushing and showering constantly. Add to that the constant road noise. And there was not a single mirror in the room anywhere????Additionally, the bottom of her dress was dusty and dirty because there are no paved paths and you either walk across the front yard or through the dusty backyard to get to your room. Not good for a formal wedding with a long gown. The owner/ manager even asked my daughter if SHE could show the Mother of the Groom to her room over the barn because they were not allowed to check in early....My daughter did praise the delicious breakfast souffle and said the bed was adequate.This might be a great place for a rustic retreat but it is NOT the place to stay prior to a wedding.

Sharing a bathroom was difficult but I was aware ahead of time. The Blue Room bed was small. Overall, though. It was a very nice, peaceful experience.

Very old and very rustic property. Lots of amazing history about the property itself and the owners. Very present and attentive host Pam shares amazing back story related to the property and to the history of how the ranch came to be. Fabulous breakfasts. We stayed in the Overlook suite, kind of like a modified barn with heavy timbers and barn flooring. Super comfy bed, woodburning stove (lots of dry wood), and private back porch overlooking the pasture. A little noise coming from the fire department building next door but wasn't an issue for us. Cool antiques throughout. Only about 25 minutes from downtown Ellijay.

The only complaint is the noise from the highway but that’s not Pam’s fault. Apparently mufflers are not required on vehicles in Georgia.
The history of the property is worth the stay. The breakfast was very good also.

We enjoyed our visit. Pam is a good host. Downsides—sharing a bed in the overlook and proximity to high traffic sounds. We would have preferred two beds and less traffic noise. Overall, it was nice. I would return with noise canceling headphones. The claw footed tub was a treat and community breakfast (delicious!) so fun!

Surpassed my high expectations

I was met by Pam, the owner and immediately felt welcomed. She had phoned me earlier in the day to inquire about arrival time and whether I needed directions. I was looking for quiet and solitude and after a tour of the amazing home, I was left alone while the option to mingle with other guests was available. The home is so beautiful and has so much history and things to look at. Television with Netflix was available but not used. Spent the remainder of the day watching the horses and cows out in the field. Horseback riding is available. Breakfast was fantastic, coffee available 24/7 and Pam joined everyone for breakfast to tell the story of the ranch and how it came to be. It’s in the country but quite close to stores and restaurants. This was a one night pit stop as I was heading for camping and hiking. Should I come this way again, I will certainly book the Seventy Four Ranch again. I will recommend this B & B to anyone traveling through northern Georgia. It was a unique and an unforgettable experience. Thank you Pam for the wonderful stay.

This wasn't any hotel stay, this was a beautiful experience. Pam the host at this property has gone all out. Staying at the 74 Ranch is an experience that takes you to a different time. The decoration and the attention to detail is sublime, every little detail has been thought of and decorated. The personal touch of the host is everywhere. This was the furthest thing possible from a commercial experience. Oh and did I mention the animals? Thank you Pam for such a lovely and wonderful time.

This is a very unique stay. The setting is beautiful. It is a very old home, built in the early 1800's, so expect old construction and an antique feel. The owner, Pam, runs the place and is very attentive and offers a caring, personal touch. She actually called me directly a few days before our stay to find out if we had any dietary restrictions, which I felt was very thoughtful.

Wow! What an experience! I would rate this B&B/Ranch as excellent! We signed up for the horse back riding and roping and had a fantastic time on the trail with Levi. We were so exhausted by the end of the day! The good news is that our room (Master) was beautiful, clean and comfortable! The sheets were so soft and the bed was so comfortable!!! We will definitely be back.

The house is very nice and although it is an old house, does not smell old. The room and the bathroom were clean. (Be advised that you share a bathroom with other guests and bring your own hair wash, we only found soap bars)
The Owner is nice and accomodating. When we called, she always answered.

This was my second time staying at 74 Ranch and I absolutely love it there! Pam the owner is so accommodating and makes the best blueberry waffle I’ve ever tasted!! Her sister and property staff Manny are also so kind and hospitable. I truly feel at peace on the property and love seeing the horses which is a major bonus! I also loved hearing about the history of the ranch. I would highly recommend this place!!

We did not stay. I booked the saddle cabin which I thought had a separate bedroom. It did not. We had to share a bathroom with the room next to us. The mattresses on bunks were horrible. Cob webs everywhere. No live TV…only streaming capabilities if I logged in with MY account. No in-room fridge. The traffic outside was loud! On the positive side, the host, Pam, was very nice and welcoming. I imagine we would have had a better experience if I had booked a bedroom inside the house.

We stayed in the Overlook Suite. Minus a few dusty, old cobwebs (hardly even worth mentioning)...the place was perfect. You can tell the animals are well cared for. Javing a private bath was greatly appreciated. Don't pass up this place!

Beautiful part of Georgia, and this place is truly unique. It's a rustic old farmhouse with lovely porches and outdoor areas overlooking fields with cattle and horses. You can ride the horses! You can have a fire for the cool evenings. Lots of gorgeous antiques inside, too. Yummy breakfasts, self-serve Keurig coffee. But we shared a bathroom with two other rooms, tough in the mornings. The room had very little light at night and no shades for the bright morning light. The one TV was supposed to have Netflix, but it didn't work. But overall, great alternative to hotels.

Indescribable experience! I love to travel, have stayed in many nice places but none, I mean, none this! Pictures do not do it justice. The minute you walk through the door, your experience starts! The horses are friendly. Pam is knowledgeable about the main house and property. Property is RIGHT beside a main road and traffic is VERY loud all through the night. It only let up for a few hours. Can’t answer for main house but the porch cabin is very rustic. If you are not worried about the level of noise it is cute, quant place to stay. No hair dryer. No tv. And wifi is bad. So make it a device free stay and it is right up your alley. You share a bathroom with saddle cabin and the doors creak very loud so it is hard to be quiet. We had awesome neighbors that was just as worried about being quiet as we were so we lucked up. The breakfast was made fresh that morning and we all ate together.

Loved the ranch, the view, Manny and Tasha. Loved that they were able to switch our rooms when we had issues with our cabin. The buildings are in bad shape, need repairs, and after breakfast we didn't see anyone who worked there. At least the owner was reachable by phone most of the time. She was having since health issues though so I'm not counting that against her.

The property is beautiful and full of unique history, but the lodging house itself is showing its age. Things just need to be updated - only sheer curtains on the room that literally let in the street light, electrical outlets with covers missing, bathroom window that allows others to look in, windows themselves cracked/worn/leaky, porch wood deteriorating, lots of noise from traffic, and just an overall tired place that seems to have outlived its days of glory. Has great potential though to be stellar once again. Host was kind, flexible, and very communicative. Breakfast was good but way too sweet (french toast casserole).

We’ve stayed here a couple times and there is no experience quite like it anywhere else in North GA. The B&B sits on a beautiful ranch. From the overlook suite you have views of the horses and cows in the fields. You can also go horseback riding! The breakfast is delicious and Pam tells their story afterwards. Just brings the whole experience all together.

I really loved staying here. The room and the breakfast was wonderful. It was so relaxing and we had the place to ourselves. We loved sitting on the back porch area and watching the horses and cows. Tasha was wonderful and friendly. This is definitely a place I will come back to. Perfect place to unwind and enjoy the area.
