The hotel is a 15-minute walk from the JR station, and you need to walk uphill along the road. For Japanese people, it's just 15 minutes, but it's more challenging for tourists. The hotel's biggest selling points are the scenery and the hot springs; the rest is quite average. Be prepared that the rooms are relatively old, as the hotel has been operating for over 30 years. In terms of service, you need to request your breakfast voucher a day in advance, which means you have to go down every day to book your breakfast time, making it inconvenient for guests.

Overall very well kept and lovely staff. Rooms had plenty of rooms for us to open our suitcases etc which was very handy. Food was great, only request that would make it easier for English speaking visitors would be more English labels next to food. Other than that was a very nice place to stay and would return.

beautiful resort. the onsen is one of a kind and breath taking. it’s worth the trip just for the onsen honestly. the free shuttle is super convenient if you plan on skiing hakuba 47 (maybe other resorts too but i just did 47). would definitely stay here over a more expensive resort. only thing is the beds aren’t super comfortable but they aren’t the worst either. hence the 4 instead of 5.

This is a dated hotel, a bit further away from the main town and other areas of interest, which can be good to escape some of the chaos. The staff are very friendly and the common areas/amenities are wonderful, as well as having a shuttle to Hakuba 47 stop at the hotel. If you are looking for more nightlife, stay closer to Echoland. But if you want to relax and stay in the hotel, this is a great spot for a night or two.

Excellent experience - 10/10!

The overall experience staying in Hakuba Highland hotel was amazing! They provided excellent customer service and went above and beyond with all and any requests my friends and I made. They have incredible amenities and it was always very clean. The cherry on top were the amazing views we had from our rooms!

Great views but missing something...

The Hakuba with its free breakfast and onsen appealed to us, but it’s a little too far out of the action. Although they offer a shuttle bus into areas that’s not at all times, and taxis in Japan are expensive. The variety at breakfast wasn’t really to our liking, but did the job before skiing. The views are amazing and it would be great if there was a little bar/cafe that you could get Hot/cold drinks in the day/evening...but all there is is the shop which sells souvenirs and some cans of beer and bottle of sake. The use of the private onsen has to be paid for but it is lovely, we used it twice. The rooms were only cleaned once every two days, but to compensate we were given some vouchers for the shop...to get a souvenir and can of Ashai.

Brilliant service and an outstanding onsen with incredible views!! The hotel buffet dinner was also great, Japanese food only, so a good local experience. All in all the hotel is more local than touristy. It is slightly out of the way (from the main ski resort area hubs), however, the shuttle services are good. It kind of added to the local feel of it not being at the resorts. Great for families too.

The hotel situated near The Alpes area where you can access to many local attractions, such as Kurobe Dam and Hokujo. Self driving is needed to access this hotel. Onsen is newly renovated and spacious. Mountain view from the Onsen is excellent. We got a mountain view room and the view was great. Breakfast was excellent. Room is a bit old and smaller than a lot of similar graded Onsen Hotel.

Great value for money

Very good value for money. It's an older hotel but well maintained and also the staff was super friendly and helpful. The onsen was amazing! And really great dinners with Japanese food for cheap. Just the location was a bit remote and unless you have a car you're dependant on the shuttle service which is reliable but not that frequent.

Worth a visit

Love the onsen. Great location and meals provided was classy and had a fantastic view of the mountains and township. It rest at a slope. Pick up provided from the hotel from the JR station. The origami table was a good break and tested the handiwork. Fresh apples sold at the counter..delicious!

Great stay. Staff very helpful. Slightly out of town, but rewarded by great views back towards Hakuba (including from outdoor onsen), and regular shuttle buses to all resorts. Excellent value buffet breakfast. Is an older property but means toons are a Good size room.

Solid hotel. A little faded and dated, but clean and well run. Close enough to walk to the train station and some businesses, but definitely not in tourist ground zero. Limited schedule busses will get you to the slopes and the breakfast was great. I'd stay there again and wouldn recommend.

Fantastic, simply brilliant

The Hakuba Highland Hotel is fantastic!
The staff there were simply amazing and went out of our way to accomodate all our needs. This included shuttling up into and back from town to get some things, and when we checked out they managed all our affairs and dropped us at the bus stop.
The hotel itself features good sized rooms with everything you expect from a normal Japanese hotel.
The Onsen is amazing with views over the mountains.
The breakfast can be a little stange at first but there is enough variety of Japanese and Western foods to accomodate everyone.
We did not intend on frequeting the hotel for dinner but after going on the first night for convenience we returned every night. It is a buffet style setup and the variety and freshness of the food was fantastic. It was just 1500yen for effectively all you can eat and soft drinks were included. There was a wide variety of soups, sushi, sashimi, freshly made tempura, steak plates, salads and about a dozen more japanese and western dishes including pasta, pizza, chicken and fish dishes. Also they have a soft serve machine!
The also offer discount lift tickets, free shuttle to the slopes and discount ski hire.
I cannot say enough good things about the Hakuba Highland Hotel

Great Hotel in the Highland Area

Great hotel to stay before travelling uphill to the Japanese Alps. The hotel staff are both friendly, helpful and polite. Good room service is also promptly provided upon request.

Hotel to be stayed again and again

Great Hotel surrounded by picture like snowy mountains and lovely trees. The hotel staff is extremely helpful and speaks good English in additional to native Japanese. Buffet breakfast is good as well.

If you can't get right at the slopes this is second best. A short free shuttle to the gondola. Wonderful staff and service. Beautiful views. Had a wonderful stay.

Beautiful location. Love the onsen.

We stayed for 4 nights and took the hotel's complimentary shuttle to the ski slopes. The staff were fantastic and so was the onsen. The outdoor onsen's view was breathtaking and they provided great quality toiletries in the onsen. The room was small but comfortable. I slept really well although we wished we have double beds instead of single beds. The bathroom was tiny but with such a fantastic onsen downstairs, I hardly ever used the bathroom.

The hotel provides breakfast and dinner for a fee and it was great value. Large variety of Japanese foods in the buffet and they change the items everyday so you're not eating the same things every day. I wish there was more English labels on the foods though. The hotel is not walking distance (not in the snow anyway) to any restaurants so it was handy to have the restaurant in the hotel.

And of course, the views were breathtaking. :)

Great views and a great price

I enjoyed my stay and have no complaints. The room and onsen had amazing views. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was Japanese style which was delicious. There was also fruit and yogurt. There is a shuttle bus that takes you too and from the ski hill or transit station. Not many foreigners but I did meet a few and skied with them the next day. I will be back to this one.

酒店位置不算方便, 距離白馬駅步行20分鐘, 但下午5點前可聯絡酒店提供白馬駅接送服務。
酒店員工有禮，而且房間整潔、空間充足, 但酒店有點歷史所有裝修較古舊。
酒店設有有名的溫泉, 可以望著雪山浸溫泉, 非常舒適。
另外值得一讚的是春季有提供穿梭巴士到白馬岩岳, 它是非常值得前往的美麗景點。冬季時也有提供滑雪場的穿梭巴士。很推薦來白馬旅遊的旅客來入住。

建物は古いですが綺麗にお掃除されており、館内の至る所に手作りの置き物や季節のお花が飾ってあり、とても落ち着ける大好きなホテルです
レストランや露天風呂から見える白馬山々の見事な景色は圧巻です
この景色を見るために20年もハイランドホテルに通っています
