The room was very clean but small. No central ac so had to use a small provided tower fan. Breakfast was not included but heard good things. The people in the reception were nice to help us figure out paddington station and optional routes with the strikes. The shower was small but powerful and hot which was good after long days exploring london. One downside was the hotel was noisy, typically when anyone used water in other rooms we could hear it. The biggest downside is I am pretty sure the skinny, shakey staircases are from the time of Shakespeare himself. But for the money and time spent the hotel satisfied our needs.

No air conditioning, only small fans. I visited during a heat wave which was very unpleasant. Shared bathrooms didn't have any way to dry your hands. Outlets had very poor power output. Got catcalled in the small park right outside and there was trash piled up along the other buildings in the area. It is an older building, so very tight spaces and steep stairs.

Property was not at all as expected and is not properly reflected in the photos on Expedia. The hotel is not well maintained. The bathroom smelled of sewer and the hotel stairs were old and unsafe. We were not provided with the accommodation that we booked. We promptly left after checking in and canceled our next night. I requested a refund from the hotel and Expedia May 23rd and have received no credit or follow up.

The hotel location is excellent with clean basic rooms. Breakfast is fairly average, but good to have if you're like me and want to grab a bite before getting on with your day.

Unfortunately you could hear the underground from our basement room which was a bit disruptive. It also seemed a shame that the games room required coins to play rather than being freely available to guests. It just seems like a missed opportunity to create more of a social hub.

The location is excellent for transportation, it is a quiet tree lined street with a park out front of the door. A reprieve from the busy streets around Paddington. It is a value hotel being close to the station and Hyde and Kensington Parks. Small rooms, no lifts or air conditioning, just a fan and a window that opens yet not fully. Clean. The bed was soft and a bit lumpy yet we seemed to sleep well on it.
Overall we would use this location for a short stay, it is fine for a busy single or couple that just wants to rest their head at the end of the day. The water was hot with reasonable pressure for the shower.
We would stay here again yet would likely say it is a pass for a demanding individual that seeks more.

Accessible hotel, very close to the train station and very convenient. But it’s quite run down and have no lift, I lived on the fourth floor and had to do the stairs, and the stairs are quite narrow. For older travellers with big luggage it could be a nightmare. Breakfast included did not have many choices. I arrived at 9 (it finished at 9:30) and there was already no forks and they were not trying to refill at all. Also, no body wash or shampoo in the bathroom.

I loved the location very near the Paddington station, easy to find from the station. The hotel provided excellent directions. The park nearby was a nice added touch though I didn't spend any time in it. The breakfast buffet was quite nice. The scrambled eggs were delicious, not sure what they did but didn't taste like the usual breakfast buffet eggs. The room was what I expected small but nice with the added kettle, tea and coffee. The water was hot no waiting time for it even being on the 3rd floor! The front staff aren't overly chatty but will provide recommendations when approached, no hi hello or have a nice day. I felt they were hidden away behind the desk. I was satisfied with hotel though sound does carry with guests coming and going in the hall and doors closing.

I found the room adequate for what our needs were, but a bit underwhelming... I didn't realize Europe as a whole doesn't have air conditioning, and we happened to visit at an unusually warm week, so we had two fans constantly running. The room was clean however, and housekeeping did a great job every day. The bathroom is crazy small though, and I was not expecting that, but again, definitely a Europe thing. They provided a tea kettle for making tea or coffee in the room, and you can't beat the location. Very close to many beautiful restaurants and cafes as well as transport at Paddington station and a mall with lots of great food (p.s. the elevator in the mall had a fantastic view of the sunset). We didn't order breakfast there so I can't speak to that although it did smell great in the mornings and the kitchen staff was very kind to let us borrow some cutlery. There was free water at a drinking fountain inside the lobby which we utilized a lot when filling up our water bottles for the day. The staff was pretty helpful, although I didn't get the most welcoming vibes from them (maybe also a Europe thing..) One of the worst downsides is how loud housekeeping was in the mornings. The walls are pretty thin. For the price around this area, this really was a nice hotel and if you are touring a lot of the city like we did, you really only need a place to sleep! I would recommend overall! Happy travels!

We appreciated that the room was clean and the beds were comfortable, but do not feel like the room was what we were expecting. There are no pictures on Hotels.com that showed the room we actually got and we were disappointed that the bunk bed was halfway in front of the window and the ladder was blocked by an end table. The room was more cramped that we envisioned and there was no room for the 4 of us to turn around or have our luggage opened up unless it was on our bed. The bathroom was as accurately small as depicted in the picture and that was fine, but the shower did not work well. It took ages to heat up and then it felt like it was burning my skin because it was so hot - we never found a middle ground. Also, the doorknob to the bathroom was falling off. We knew the stairwell would be narrow because it is London and sure enough, it was extremely narrow. Our backpacks were fine going up it but my sister struggled with her carryon rolling suitcase. The breakfast downstairs was tasty and plentiful (loved the waffles with Nutella)! We loved that our hotel was only a 2 minute walk to the Paddington Station. Would stay here again because it was cheap, clean, and close to the station.

Breakfast was good. Rooms were average, with clean beds and clean showers. We stayed here just for one night to be close to the Heathrow express to head back to the airport. No elevator. I didn't see that in the description as it was worded differently. The staff was very nice and tried to help us as one of our people was handicap and could not walk up that many flights. Let us keep the bulky items down in the lobby and gave us a room on the 1st floor.

Water in the bathroom not being potable freaked my daughter out but there is a water filing station on the first floor. We were on 3rd floor, last set of stairs had an attic like feel. All in all enjoyed our short stay and breakfast.

The woman at check in didn’t look up from what she was doing despite that I was standing three feet away. I had to finally ask her if I was in the right place for check in.

The room was very clean. The twin beds are smaller than a regular twin bed - think more the size of a cot. The bathroom was super clean but super tiny. There was good water pressure in the shower and plenty of hot water.

The tv had only … maybe 4 channels - one being the shopping channel. The remote didn’t work.

The breakfast was mediocre. Luke warm Scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, cold cereals, waffles, beans, toast, some fruit, plain yogurt and watered down juice, tea and coffee.

Internet was soooo slow. You could pay a premium for faster internet.

The noise and vibration from the train!!! Awful! Very bad!

Location is good but overall I would recommend spending a bit more and staying in a better spot. The hotels in the area are in abundance.

Room was a bit on the small side for 3 adults, but was manageable for the 2 nights we stayed.
Note that there is NO lift, so suitcases need to be carried up multiple flights of stairs. Also, you can hear and feel the underground, but it's not too loud or disruptive.
Really good walkable location to Paddington Station, tube station, public bus stops and Hop-On, Hop-Off bus stops.

My biggest issue with this hotel is being 3 stories high and having no lift or bell hop to help with baggage. I don't mind doing stairs on the daily but dragging our bags up there was a bit difficult (the staircases were also narrow). The rooms were small but that is to be expected in London. We had our own shower and toilet which seemed clean enough. The shower was a bit bizarre as it was not tall enough to go over your head, you had to hand hold it to rinse your hair and face. It felt like a camper shower. Not bad just cramped and utilitarian.

We had pretty noisy neighbors on all sides but our kids were rather noisy themselves (just during the day though, they sleep early). BUT you can hear the underground every single 5 minutes rumble underneath. So if you are a light sleeper, I do not recommend this hotel. Even on the 3rd floor, you still heard and felt the trains.

What the hotel lacked in physical property conditions, it made up for in staff. The breakfast staff were so very kind, welcoming, and friendly. They made me and my family feel very welcome.

It is right across the street from a pretty little square park with some statues. It is nice to have a green place to walk and look upon while travelling in the city. Also, it is within walking distance to Hyde Park and Kensington Palace. It was quite an easy walk, too.

I really enjoyed my stay here, overall. Thank you.

Great location, few minutes walk from Paddington station and underground. Loads of places to eat nearby. Fridge in the room was great for food and drink. I was in a single room with a good hairdryer, 7 plug sockets, 2 USBs, decent sized TV. Nighttime lighting in the bathroom. Very comfy bed. Could hear the trains but didn't keep me awake. Continental breakfast with some hot items was a bonus. Staff friendly. Yes it was a bit tired in the communal areas but rooms were very clean and great value. I would stay again

Good economy room with three separate beds, good for traveling with teens. The room was in the cellar, had low natural light and smelled damp. There were mold stains in the bathroom. There was the metro traffic under the floor - it went on till late and started early, one could hear the trains and feel the room rattling a bit with each train. That was a bit unpleasant. Breakfast was OK, not too many healthy options though. All in all - when traveling with teens, it's an OK room, not too terrible. Location is good.

Our room was very clean, staff were lovely. Although we didn't use use the games facilities, it was nice to see what was offered. Couldn't fault the breakfast, the scrambled egg was as good as we've had in a very long time.

Due to our train times changing we arrived far earlier than the advertised check-in time, but the reception staff were wonderful and as our room was ready, allowed us to check-in, which meant we could head into London earlier than anticipated.

There was some noise from the Underground, but as we had requested (and were given) a ground floor room and we were only a few minutes from Paddington station it was hardly surprising. It certainly wasn't an issue and if anything, probably rocked us to sleep.

Plenty of power sockets and a USB port, so charging phones was easy.

We would definitely stay here again.

Being on the 4th floor it's very quiet, though, with barely a faint rumbling of trains leaving Paddington station. So all in all reasonable value for money.
The steep and narrow stairs would prove a challenge for many, however.

We are nearly 70 years old. This hotel has no elevator and the staircase is narrow. We arrived at the hotel at 8am o'clock in the morning, but the hotel staff gave us the fifth floor, the highest floor, and asked us to carry three large suitcases up to the fifth floor by ourselves. It was so disappointing! We will never book a similar hotel again!

The service here was poor. We were placed on the top floor (five flights up) and were not allowed or offered any assistance with our baggage. The stairways were quite steep and narrow, making the journey up with luggage difficult. Of course, five stories without a lift is common all over Europe, but the incivility of not helping the two elderly travelers in our party was beyond the pale. Additionally, when checking in, the men stationed at the front desk could hardly look at me. I felt as if they considered politeness a waste of their time. It was quite a rude experience. I would not want to stay here again, and would not recommend this establishment to others.

The location is terrific. Within steps of hop-on hop-off Bus services. Restaurants at the end of the block in both directions. Subway is a block and a half walk. The room is about half the size it need be. London fire laws make it inconvenient to move your luggage from place to place,as there are a number of doors that have to be negotiated with luggage.

Not as advertised — hygiene failures and no running water

I booked this hotel last-minute via Hotels.com and felt deceived by the photos. The room I was given was not as advertised: the bed sheets were dirty, there were flies in the room, and the shower room smelled disgusting. Worst of all, there was no running water in the morning — I couldn’t wash my hands or shower. I even tried an external shower and that had no water either.

I paid £171 for a night and left feeling humiliated, unable to get ready for an important business meeting. Basic hygiene and water supply are non-negotiable. I requested a full refund and a goodwill gesture for the disruption.

Until management can guarantee clean rooms and reliable water, I cannot recommend this property. Check recent reviews before booking. This hotel should be on the black list

I had a lovely stay. The staff was very kind, welcoming and patient and answered any questions I had. Norfolk square park across the street is lovely and I never felt unsafe as a woman traveling alone. Hyde park and paddington station were a short walk away. This hotel is in an old Victorian building and with it come quirks like no elevator and non potable bathroom sink water but they had a water station in the lobby that was free to use 24/7 and a vending machine if you like to purchase snacks along with room service through a 3rd party delivery service. I enjoyed my stay immensely!
