The hotel was very beautiful. All the plants and the butterfly garden was amazing. There was some mold on the bathroom shower floor/walls. Honduras is very humid but I wish there was a bit more upkeep in that aspect. The restaurant/bar closes super early. We went down to have a drink (I think around 7PM) and it was already closed. Overall, the staff was nice and welcoming. PS. keep in mind the walls are paper thin. I could hear everything from the rooms next to me and anything going on outside. I would stay here again no doubt.

There were multiple power outages during our second day and the hotel seemed unable to turn on the backup generator to keep air condition running and lights on. Given the hot weather and traveling with a baby, this was less than ideal. Also the property has multiple sets of stairs to enter and exit the rooms and property, and ramps are limited and at times were blocked which made it hard to carry luggage.

Worst night ever, the staff left a 6pm not restaurant open after that not body only 1 security the rooms on the top on the mountain old people cant not come is so hard and the light when off and the put it after one hour and half the phone from the room not work and try to call for the number of the hotel notbody answer if something happens not help on all i wake up early not body there so horrible!!! I wish i can get my money back also AC not good enough for the weather.

Hike to your room

So, it stated on Hotels.com that there were only 2 rooms left… The entire place was empty other than one other family.
I got a cabin because that's all I had as an option for 3 people. There was no ramp for cars or for you to carry your luggage down.
Now, I'm with my 70-year-old mom & 60 yr old aunt. The cabin they gave us was atop another hill!!! Needless to say, my family could not make the walk just to get to the cabin.
It was a far far walk, not ideal if you have any heavy luggage. There was only one worker there to help but we had to try to carry everything else ourselves, it was rough and my mom didn't make it halfway. Went back to exchange for another room, but they didn't say anything as the hotel was empty and everything was under construction or being painted.
Being hungry after the 4-hour bus ride there, the kitchen and service was horrible. My mom got a baleada and even starving, she couldn't eat it! Expensive & horrible. The TV worked for 1 day, the water was cold but I expected that and it was full of ants. Won't go back.
The only nice experience was at the Mariposario with the few butterflies they had.

Nice hotel with lots of stairs. Not suitable for wheelchair, elders or strollers. The staff was very kind and helpful. No complaints with any staff member.

The family cabins where big, confortable but didnt feel soo clean. The bathroom towels felt old and didnt smell fresh.

The property is beautiful, the pool was nice and clean. Overall if you dont have a problem with stairs, youll be fine. We just hope they clean the rooms a little better.

Surroundings were ecofriendly, staff was very willing to help at all times, but rooms need better cleaning, roof was leaking when raining, bathrooms need some repairs with fixtures. Ants were observed inside bathrooms and along entry door. Facility needs a maintenance team to solve those above mentioned issues. Finally at the restaurant, team working at this place was fantastic but menu is very limited. Butterflies sanctuary was fantastic.

Mayas hill hotel muy bonito se ve es un poco incómodo subir y bajar gradas con o sin maletas la atención del personal muy eficiente todos ellos muy amables lo otro incomodo es escuchar música en alto volumen a las 6am y todo el día hábil pues la música proviene del gimnasio entiendo gente quiere hacer ejercicio temprano pero huéspedes no tienen por q levantarse con esa música alta en especial regueton q creo es muy común en honduras y gente joven pero debería de haber un poco de respeto hacia personas que solo vamos a buscar un poco de relax muy agradable ver la naturaleza y ver el Mariposario

Too many stairs, no elevator. The place is nice, different it feels like you're in the forest surrounded by nature which is beautiful!! One of my rooms was on top of the hill , so if you travel with little ones or elderly (which it was my case)it may be an issue...the staff is awesome, very helpful... location is about 5 min away from the town, to the ruins 10min.

The rooms are so big and so comfortable. The air conditioning is a blessing. There is a small kitchenette that we used and loved. The bathrooms had fluffy towels, and some amenities, but no hand towels or washcloths. The kitchen also did not have a washcloth so it was challenging to clean when we were preparing food. This is a very small complaint. There were also no towels for the pool.

We would definitely stay here again because the property is beautiful and has updated rooms and accommodations. The staff is friendly and helpful - we even had a load of laundry done.

The only downside was the hike from our car to our rooms. We are relatively young and in shape but the walk was down and then VERY uphill. It was a straight up workout to take our suitcases from the car. Other than that, everything was great!!

Convenient location, close to the town and the archeological park. Great butterfly exhibit right at the hotel. One word of caution, in order to access your room you have to climb up and down several ser of stairs. It is a real physical challenge.

SO glad we came here!

Loved this beautiful place! Enjoyed being surrounded by the colorful jungle. Lovely butterfly enclosure, nice pool, good restaurant. Had fun taking tuktuks to town. Town surprised us with its beauty and variety, it's quite scenic, had very good food. Felt safe and welcomed by everyone we met. Ruins were fantastic!

The rooms were nice and clean. Staff was nice. Kids liked the playground and mariposario. We did have to call at 6:30 our first morning to say that we had no water, but they were able to turn it on shortly thereafter. In fact, it wasn't a big deal, probably because we were there during low season they had the water off. The restaurant was decent and the breakfast was a typical Central American breakfast. In front of our cabin, there were hammocks and chairs for hanging out outdoors. It wasn't horrible but there were some beer caps and other small paper on the ground. We were there with kids so not ideal. The parking was out of the hotel on the main road. No security as far as I could tell. The biggest downside was the steps. We've stayed in plenty of hotels without elevators, but the name Mayan Hills is correct. From the lobby, you have a lot of steps down to cross a ravine and then even more steps up. With kids who overpack and not knowing about security of the car, we had a lot to carry each way. Good for built in exercise. Meanwhile, we would have to do without for the few things we forgot in the car.

The only thing we were not happy with was the hot tub was not in use. Staff was awesome and hotel was very nice. We will definitely book with them again on our next trip to Copan!!
