Well, where to begin..First of all, the room I booked online was NOT the room I got. When we entered the building you walk into an ice cream shop. (Confusing) There is no front desk.The check in process was inconvenient. There was a handwritten, tattered note taped to the door for you to call a number to check in. So, I sat outside and tried to call 4 times with no answer, Finally, they called me back. They gave me the code to my room. We tried several times to get in, then it locked us out. (Keyless entry lock) Finally, we were able to get in our room after having to call the check in number again. The gentleman was very hard to understand, but he was very nice and helpful. The room was bare bones. The bed was very comfortable, but very low. When I looked underneath it was resting on a 2x4 homemade platform. There was no cable tv. They wanted you to sign in to your Spectrum or cable provider account to watch tv. So, we signed into our account and still weren't able to watch tv. There was 1 used roll of toilet paper and the toilet paper holder was broken, so the roll was sitting on the side. There was absolutely no water pressure in the sink. Thank goodness we were only staying for 1 night so we made do. But, I would not stay there again. Oh, and the best part was as we were trying to check in, there was an employee having a meltdown saying he wouldn't leave until he got his paycheck.He was screaming at the young girl who was working alone at the ice cream counter.

The room was small and modern. The bed was very comfortable. It seemed the room was overlooked for cleaning the mirror, was missing a light bulb in one of the lights. For some reason the lights were yellow in the desk light and the one next to the bed. Old food was left in the fridge. The body wash bottle was empty, they don't stock bars of soap. Otherwise, lots of towels. Air-conditioning worked but made an odd noise occasionally. The most annoying part was the keyless entry with the code took four or more times to work to enter the room.

We booked the motel room and the room had no AC. It was hot and humid that day. We called to change to another room finally got someone to answer and then we were changed to the inn side of the room, but we were not given any direction how to get there. We called back-and-forth for many times. Once we’ve settled in everything was OK.

Check in was by phone, no staff on site. Issues with room access code resolved fairly quickly. Room was basic, certainly not per examples shown on the internet. Window AC unit was noisy, but very necessary as the temperature was in the high 80's. Bath had seen some recent upgrades, but needs a shelf in the shower, and some more wall hangers for towels, etc. Overall, adequate but not up to the standards of a chain like La Quinta, etc.

There is no staff that is immediately available, only by phone or email. And that is how check in is handled, phone or email. Our mattress was way too soft, and the fitted sheet was no longer fitting. There was no soap in the shower, not even the empty bottle where it should have been hanging on the wall. The ice bucket was a 1970 style, not insulated. No coffee maker in the room, only in the creamery, and the bottled water for the coffee was empty by 7:00 am Sunday morning.
On the plus side, it is centrally located in town so everything is walkable.

This was, without a doubt, the most bizarre and worst experience that I have had at a hotel.
I was traveling with my girlfriend after a long, stormy road trip. We are not fussy people and would have been happy with a fairly clean, safe room. We received neither. We walk in to our room after a long road trip and see that half of the window is missing and there were no curtains. They had attempted to cover the window with a piece of cardboard and some tape. We attempted to turn on the heating system, which would not heat up the room. Immediately across from us are huge windows of the building next door.
When we go down to the front desk to try to get the curtains or a room change. We mentioned that we are a gay couple who are unfamiliar with the area and feel very unsafe without curtains. The attendant was unable to help and did not offer a room change to us.
As we returned to the room, we noticed large strands of hair across the bathroom floor and in the shower. No attempt had been made to clean it. We tried to turn the shower on and the handle crashed to the ground. When confronted with these issues, the manager attempted to scam me with a sketchy \"all-expense\" paid trip to the Dominican Republic via text message. With no curtains, no heat, no clean bathroom, and unprofessional management, this was a horror stay. For your safety, stay far, FAR away.

Our family trip was ruined on the first night. Despite calling ahead to confirm our late arrival from NYC for a two-bed room, we were given a room with only one full bed. My husband, myself, and our two kids had to cram into a single bed in a freezing room because the heat wasn't on. As a result, none of us slept well, and we woke up the next day completely exhausted with severe body aches. To make matters worse, there were no toiletries except hand wash. There was also no curtain on the bathroom window, which faced directly outdoors, completely eliminating our privacy. My husband even cut his hand on a cracked shower valve. No one answered the emergency number, and no staff able to help with my feed back the next day. We expect a full refund for this unacceptable, unsafe, and invasive stay. The location near Seneca Lake and Watkin Glen Park is great, but the motel itself is poorly managed and a hazard.

Self check in was a bit confusing due to language barrier. You have to call a number on door to get that started. Once all that was taken care of, found the room to be dirty and hair on shower walls. A roll up plastic curtain was not hung up but on the floor below window. Got it propped up on the hinges to have privacy but not ideal. Floors were filthy and definitely need socks to walk around. We only stayed for one night but would definitely choose another option next time.

Whilst the location was good and the staff at the ice cream counter were lovely, there were no dedicated Motel staff anywhere and our room, along with the amenities, turned out to be very disappointing.

There was garbage under the bed.
The bed sheet was not tucked underneath the mattress, so i had to ‘make’ the bed to stop it from ridding up.
There was no tea/coffee maker, fridge, safe, or microwave, in the room.
No plastic/paper cups.
Neither was there an ice bucket to collect ice from the machine.
Couldn’t even get a cold drink of water in the room!
NO BATH SHEETS!!!! Ended up having to use all the hand towels/wash cloths to dry after a shower.
Coffee maker in the entrance area was empty of regular coffee pods (only decaf left) and no staff on site to refill it.
Under the sink leaked.
So sadly, it is not possible to recommend this location, unless all you need is a room with a bed and a bathroom.

I arrived at the hotel around 4 o’clock as the check-in time was then. I entered the room and there was mud all over the floor. Brown stains were on the sheets. There were poop marks all spread on the toilet. The bed was quite literally the most uncomfortable thing because there was no support in the middle. The bed frame was 2 pieces of metal that separated if you slept in the middle of the bed, which essentially made a mattress taco.

The location was in the heart of Watkins Glen so very convenient to restaurants and the lake. Of note, the property does not have an elevator but there are first floor rooms in addition to the second floor. Rooms.

This property was horrible. The picture on Expedia was so deceiving. They are under construction. The outside area was filled with trash, the room smelled so much of bleach that we were sick from sleeping there only one night. Although the room appeared clean, the pillows and mattress were stained and the windows were filthy and had bugs crawling on them. We were booked for three nights but left after only one night because it was so horrible. We didn't even want to stay one night but we were unable to find another available hotel and had driven 5-6 hours to get there. There was no office or staff available except by phone. I have never had an experience like this in my life.

Pros: Proximity to downtown and Watkins Glen Park. Loved the door lock access code process which removed need to check in at desk. The staff member that met me there was great.

Cons: Very basic amenities, but the pictures in their site are accurate. If you are someone who wants the Hilton treatment this is not for you.

P.S.: my stay was during off season and they were remodeling the rooms in the Inn.
Would I stay there again? If I was traveling alone, yes. If traveling with a family (even just a spouse), no. That might change depending on how the remodel goes.

Got to the room around midnight from a 5 hour drive and there was no heat, found out the breaker tripped. They did move us to a room in the main building with heat, but we paid for a king bed and ended up with a queen bed. When we were getting ready for bed lifted the covers and there was hair in the sheets. They moved us to the room beside the main road and the cars and trucks going by are ridiculously loud and seems like the windows are open, so not getting any sleep. Not a great experience good thing we are only staying here 1 night. Very disappointing as it look like a beautiful city.

Very cute place. Love the history but no tv remote in one of the bedrooms. Rooms could be cleaner. No towel rack in bathroom. Also some sort of presence touched me on the back in the bedroom with the fridge in it after getting into pajamas, so much so that my heart rate spiked and we ended up driving back to Rochester at midnight, as neither of us could sleep after that.

The location and the safety was the only thing good about this room. It was part of the main so I felt safe as a solo traveler. But actually checking into the hotel was difficult, had to do everything online and called two people before one of them called me back to let me in so very slow process. I waited in the lobby for quite some time. Then ended up back at my car waiting until someone called me back so I could go in and check in. I could not get the TV on the remote control seem to be dead so I turned it on with a button on the TV but I couldn’t do anything else. So I shut it back up.I called that same number a couple of times to say the room was freezing cold. No one ever called me back. I looked in every closet in every drawer and could not find any extra blankets and could not find any, so I had to sleep in layers of my clothes and my nose was frozen. I only slept a couple hours and could not get warm so I left and went out to my car and warmed up with the seat heaters. I would definitely not come again and I definitely would not recommend.

Room in much needed repair. Sheetrock cracked and broken tiles in bathroom. Floor would make your feet dirty. Shower handle was broken. My room was switched and the air conditioning was broken in that room. Both rooms smelled very musty. I ended up after one night on what was a wedding anniversary trip with my wife. Watkins glen is a nice town and beautiful place. I would recommend avoiding staying here

We didn’t expect a fantastic hotel for the price, but we were disappointed by a doorknob coming off, a broken cabinet drawer, and their free wifi would not come up for my wife and I. The AC filter was also filthy and we had to clean it before using the AC. The location is right in the middle of town, and check in and check out is super easy, so that was the hotel’s saving grace.

In our experience the management/staff seem to believe that contactless check-in also means contactless stay. We had no way to communicate that we had multiple problems (toilet, tv, lights) with our room. I was not able to leave a message with the phone number that was provided, email and text didn’t work. Finally, spoke with someone who was rude and condescending. A bad experience overall. But the free ice cream (which was good) at the on-site creamery helped us feel a little bit better. LOL

Television did not work. Staff was unable and frankly didn't care about fixing the problem. No housekeeping. No paper products (i.e.- toilet paper in bathroom, etc), 2nd day in...
No electricity. Had to threaten filing complaint w/ local police in order to try yo attempt to do anything about that. Manager would not offer to put us in a different room. Staff so uncaring that we decided to leave and find another place to stay for the rest of our trip. Manager also runs an ice cream parlor downstairs. Has a nearly impossible job of trying to run that AND run a hotel at the same time. Problems I suspect with the whole building. Owner is offsite and not a part of day to day operations. In talking with some of the locals, I suspect this is an ongoing kind of thing eith this place. Would definitely recommend you DO NOT BOOK A STAY AT COLONIAL INN & CREAMERY. You'll likely regret it.

Very disappointed in this place it seemed like no one really care that you didn’t have a TV. How could you pay for a room and say that you have a TV but don’t have a TV. Also, how could you have a room that doesn’t have a single coffee maker in there to be able to make a cup of coffee in the morning. They say that you can go to the lobby when you go to the lobby they don’t even have The things to make a cup of coffee no creamer. No one around my room was by a dumpster loaded with flies and smell this stay ruined our whole trip to the finger lakes really and no one was around to help you. They left us two towels for all of the days that we were there a bunch of little ones, but only two big ones It really was not a good experience. Really rundown nothing available to you feel like I wasted my money.

My husband had a C-Pap machine and could not access a plug, the night stand on his side of the bed had a lamp, with NO bulb, and no plug available. No nightly/daily service to red up the room or refresh towels. Location was good with access to the town, lake and park. Would absolutely go back to Watking Glen, but NOT this hotel.

The property is dated and in need of some landscaping and the dumpster was right by the rooms. However the room was clean and for the price I really can’t complain. It was very convenient to State Park and dining which we walked to.

Our room was in front of building so lots of traffic noise. There was also lots of light from street lights that came in through curtains. Could use some blinds.
Very limited water pressure on shower.

We didn’t see any stuff when we arrived at around 7pm as it was contactless check-in. It was clear instruction we received in advance. The room was super clean and kind of a big room. After check-out, we stopped by ice cream store and got free ice cream as hotel guests (free single scoop ice cream for hotel guest)!! Also, location is amazing. We went to Watkins Glen Gorge walk from the hotel which was only a few minutes away. (Park parking is $10/vehicle). Only one thing I wanted to have in the room was a hair dryer. Other than that, it was perfect location and amazing hotel!
