this is an older, but updated property. i believe that every room has a great view of the lake. there is a huge deck that overlooks the lake with tables and chairs and white lights at night. the staff are very friendly and accommodating. there is a restaurant and bar with good food and reasonable prices. the location is close to the state forest, waterfront, wineries, and breweries, as well as the small village.

The room was newly renovated. We had a private balcony looking out over the lake. Beautiful!
Dinner at the restaurant was absolutely delicious. The chef checking in with us personally. We will definitely return to this gem.

Glad of the late check-in, as we got in around 11pm. Best to checkin while light to find room at bottom of the hill. Charming area, but our activities were based in Ithaca. Great peaceful views of the lake. Very clean and updated. Very little counter space in bathroom.

This is a sweet retro motel, very nicely updated. The rooms on the middle level have their own balconies and we loved sitting out by lake and listening to birds. The light changes beautifully as the sun sets. At night we left the screen door open and the AC off. Very relaxing.

Expedia was less easy to deal with. We found out we needed to change our reservation to the following day. That was not possible and since it was past their short window, there was absolutely no ,not even a partial, refund. I called the motel and they had no problem sliding the date over tho they couldn’t adjust the rate to the cheaper Sunday night. I am done booking with Expedia, have had similar problems before w them.

The hotel is very old and has had an upgrade. The views of the lake are beautiful. The hotel is outside of Watkins Glen on the highway. Sadly our television did not work when we arrived and could not be fixed. We were given the option of changing rooms and then found out the room had not been serviced. We were in a suite with a kitchen but no implements, glassware, crockery etc at all in the kitchen and no tissues.

The rooms were clean and spacious. The view from the room was beautiful, those were the good points. The bad were; there wasn’t any ventilation in the bathroom which caused some problems for us in the room. You could hear everything in the room next door. We were there 4 nights housekeeping never came to check on room. Their parking lot and roads are in bad shape some major potholes beware in the dark.

Here are some tips:Bring silverware there is a mini frig and microwave, but no silverware not even plastic, no continental breakfast, the restaurant was closed in April. We were there during off season. Unfortunately, the hotel restaurant wasn't open but I bet it's beautiful when open. The room was great, newly renovated and the balcony goes out back with a beautiful view of the lake. I bet it looks even more gorgeous in the summer/fall. It was contactless service so we didn't see any staff.

It appeared that the whole lobby and main building was under complete renovation so when I got there to check in my key was taped to the door with my name on it. Later time of check out was great and the key box made it easy to check out. Even though I stayed here in January, it was still nice and cozy.

I stay here often. It’s an updated drive-up motel and it’s wonderful. All of the rooms face the lake and have a patio. Plus it’s sooo quiet. Beds are comfy. Winter is definitely off season, but the wineries and breweries were open, and some good restaurants and coffee nearby. Self checkin was easy. A good quiet place to get away.

The room was excellent,only problem was the power went out around 4:30 called the office which was remote, not on site that it was out. The response was they would contact NYSG the power provided they confirmed the power was out in our area and didn't why or when it would come back on. The temp outside was in the upper 20s and the wind blowing.we informed them that we were leaving and asked if we could use this boooking for a later date, they said because it was through Expida they didn't know,

The hotel was perfect for our friend’s weekend. We had excellent service and meals in the restaurant. Great breakfast and dinners. The views of SENECA LAKE from our room and deck area were fantastic! We will definitely be returning! Hoping that new igloos will be available for outdoor entertainment. It would also be great to have a space within the hotel for guests to gather with key/code access with extended hours. (Bar/lounge area)

The view of Seneca lake is priceless /spectacular. The room was spotless, and the bed was comfy- had everything you need. There are 3 different levels that provide views to the lake. I think I would have liked the balconies best but I chose the suite which was nice.
Note this is an older hotel that has been remodeled, and I found no issues at all. There is no room service or phone in the room. It is a quiet area with food options about 6-10 minutes away in the main area of town. everything was closeby.

We had the suite rooms on the ground level. Rooms were clean, fun, brightly coloured and good sized rooms. View was not as good as the 2nd floor balconies, but a few steps off the patio and toward the lake were beautiful. We were very happy with our room. Unfortunately, we were there in off season, so we were not able to experience the dining room.

Best Views of Seneca Lake!

Loved our one night stay at The Hotel Laurel. Wish we had stayed a second night. First of all, I can't imagine a better view of Seneca Lake than at this hotel. All rooms have balconies that overlook the lake. And the hotel has a large deck area with tables and chairs where you can sit outside and enjoy the evening air. The hotel had a restaurant and we did have breakfast there and it was quite good.
Convenient to Watkins Glen also.
The only issue was our balcony door got stuck and would not open when we returned from dinner. We were able to get it open when we first arrived and enjoyed a few minutes looking out at the lake. But for some reason the latch would not open all the way. Not a huge deal and it probably could have been easily fixed by the staff but at that point it was late. Besides I watched the sunrise with a cup of coffee from the aforementioned deck. Also saw a herd of deer walking across the field down below us in the early morning. Absolutely would stay here again.

Wish I could have stayed longer

My husband and I both loved this place. The room is nice and also large. The mini fridge has a freezer. Whe whole place is cut and has nice touches like a little pumpkin on the patio table (October). We arrived kind of late (glad I called to confirm their limited check-in hours). Check-in was quick and easy. We also had just enough time to eat dinner there since no where else was open in the area. We were happy with the food which had large portions. The atmosphere was also nice. They have a pretty large bar including a wine or beer flight. Wish they had a cider flight. They night we stayed they didn't have the restaurant open this morning. That's okay, we found somewhere in town. I loved sitting on the balcony in the morning. Absolute perfection and the view was good. The only little annoyances was it seems like they might use a mattress protector that makes weird noise when you move. Also for the heat/Ac unit \"constant fan\" didn't work. Being a light sleeper it kept waking me when it kicked on. I'm still very happy with my stay and would absolutely come back felt like I hit the jackpot with the price, location, and adorable inn. It also helps that the location was just down the road from our plans, Watkins Glen State Park and Captain Bill's..
Shower set up seemed odd to us. Nice aesthetic but I guess we just aren't that hip.

The room overlooking the lakes was amazing. Nice and clean. It looks like they have done renovation just recently. Loved their patio too. There were lots of light bulbs hanging across the patio which created this beautiful and cozy atmosphere. Although 2 out of 3 heaters outside were not working, so we couldn't fully enjoy it.
Check in was fast. We were provided necessary information except for breakfasts. If it was not included in the price we could have been told that there is a breakfast option available for an additional cost. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay here!

Great find in Watkins Glen! Newly renovated with classic charm. The rooms are nicely decorated and cozy. It’s a quiet area with all rooms viewing Seneca lake. We didn’t get a chance to try the bar or restaurant, but it looked like a nice spot. 5 minute drive to local restaurants and Watkins Glen State Park. Decent prices everywhere, too. The only thing I didn’t appreciate is that not every room comes with a balcony. Apparently they are only available upon request, which Expedia did not disclose. A lovely stay overall!

This place gets 4 stars for the stunning view and location. I would stay here again just for that. The rooms were clean and the area was quiet and felt safe. The restaurant was decent but there are a lot of food options not far up the road. You only get one parking space per unit and there is only one parking space per unit so if someone parks in your space, you don't have a place to park. You have to park at the lobby and walk all the way to your unit. This happened to us and we heard our neighbors honking and yelling at someone else too. I wish the hotel would give you a card or something to put in your car window to identify which cars go with which unit.

I loved the view of the lake from our balcony. The deck overlooking the lake with the chairs and gas fire pit was really cool! The bathroom was a little small and the glass around the shower did not go all the way back, so the floor got wet back there. A glass door would have been better. The staff was very nice, but we could not check in until the restaurant opened, there was no one there. We enjoyed it there, though, it was very relaxing.

We picked the worst room right next to the employee supplies and smoking area. Restaurant was short-staffed. Poor ladies were running around trying to keep up. Not their fault. Bathroom in the restaurant was not cleaned between evening and breakfast visit which totally grossed us out.

This place is not perfect, but I love it for the things you cannot get anymore at other hotels. The best part is the view over the lake, the patio facing the lake; you can open the windows. And they do a nice job keeping the rooms clean and fresh. Great people running the place too.

This property is right outside of the town of Watkins glen. Convenient to everything around it. The rooms all face Lake Seneca which is gorgeous to view from our porch. The room was clean and the staff were very nice. We had our own parking space right in the front of the room. It's an older motel but the rooms were updated with a fridge and a microwave. Great price also!

Enjoyed this property with beautiful view from our balcony of Seneca Lake. There are lower rooms, but those would have cars parked where you sit outside your room. I would return and stay again, but only if I could get a balcony room. Staff was welcoming, personable & professional. Spoke with servers, maintenance, front desk check in, etc. ALL were exceptional and I look forward to staying here again. Such a convenient location to downtown Watkins Glen and sights in the surrounding area.
