Spacious, clean, and comfortable

The room was so clean and comfortable! It was warm but the front desk allowed us to borrow fans. It was very spacious. Breakfast was a really great spread. The hotel is very close to town, no more than a 15 minute walk. The only problem I had was I had to have cash to get water and didn’t bring any so I had to run to the store to get water with my card. But other than that it was perfect. It was very accommodating for our dog as well!

The stay was excellent and breakfast plentiful and enjoyable It is a short 20 minutes walk into town which is just as well because in the heat or rain it is all but impossible to order a taxi even though the hotel staff tried their best. The only criticism of the hotel is that although I did not want my sheets changed daily, I would have at least wanted the bed made each day.

Kulmbach Comfort

I have stayed at this hotels many times now, as Astron, Achat or now Taste. It is perfectly placed for the town of Kulmbach, the rooms are clean and comfortable and the buffet breakfast is excellent. However, the hotel is showing signs of age and what used to be a 4* hot3el is looking more like a \"lower-end\" chain overnighter. The heart seems to have gone out of it!

The hotel is under staffed, front desk run by one person almost all the time, there are no other staff. The cleaner hustle to get rooms turned around but there not seem to s system that connects which rooms are needed first. Probably will not stay here on my next visit.

Not bad, but not good either

The hotel has good parking and decent rooms. The staff is mostly friendly, but one of them is smoking in the staircase and it smelled like smoke everywhere in the hotel but in the room. Breakfast was not available due to a business meeting or the like and no alternatives were given. Not very inviting atmosphere overall.

We came to the hotel where staff barely spoke English at the reception. We had 29 degrees C in the room, unbearable. There was no air conditioning in any of the rooms.

I was upset when we received for two days breakfast for 2 people a 68 Eur charge. We have not been advised that breakfast needs to be paid extra and how much for instance.

The restaurant next doors as part of the complex could not have a simplementation chicken dish on a menu :-/

Again, it deserves a BAD review as it has so many things to improve. It is still from early 70's.

Decent hotel is a small town in Upper Bavaria

The largest hotel in town. On the edge of town next to the City Park and about a fifteen minute walk from the center and the railroad station. I stay here when I attend the biannual Tin Figure Bourse. It has not changed in ten years.

The atmosphere is modern. The people folksy. The breakfast if great but expensive. The kitchen is capable of making some delicious dinners. The food service is rather slow and careless. During the times that the hotel is filled they seem overwhelmed.

Worst problem is that the hotel is not air conditioned. Few places in Kulmbach are. No restaurants.

When it is needed as in August when I visited it is much missed.

We had two nights at this hotel. Quiet. Clean. Decent bathroom. Good quality breakfast. Ya boo sucks to Expedia who didn't get us a bed and breakfast rate and thus made us pay premium prices. But not the hotel's fault.

Odd place with a lobby that smells of cigarettes

We decided to leave our plans until the last minute, en route home from Austria, and Kulmbach seemed like a reasonable location in which to stop for the night. The hotel was easy enough to find and was only a 10-15 minute walk from the town centre. We were surprised to find that the whole of the hotel lobby (room with an atrium) smelled of cigarettes and wondered if the staff smoked in their office since we rarely saw anyone outside having a smoke.

The hotel was large and mainly empty and the hallways have that somewhat creepy lighting system, where you have to stop every 15 meters to turn on another hallway light to see where you're going (the lights are on a timer and turn themselves off). The room was a good size and faced out onto the car park. (At 6.30 the next morning, that meant that had front row seats to hear all of the Italians navigating getting onto their tour bus for half an hour.)

WIFI was 10 Euros per night or free in the lobby, so we opted to go back into the smoky lobby to check emails and plan the route for the next day.

A wander into the town proved a bit odd. Flags hung from most buildings advertising the local beer, Kulmbacher, but there was almost no one in sight, despite it being a Thursday evening. Found a couple of sad looking pubs and restaurants and finally decided to try Zunftstube - nice, cheap, homely food.

One highlight was finding a good gelateria with fab Pistachio ice cream.

Convenient for touring Oberfranken

Spacious, clean room I and excellent daily breakfast buffet. As in most such hotels, there is no air conditioning , but opening the window was sufficient. To keep us cool. Perhaps the management might consider installing insect screens on the windows, since we did have some nocturnal winged visitors. Excellent location in Kulmbach , an easy walk to all attractions. It was also an easy drive to Bayreuth, Cronach, Bamberg and Coburg, all of which we visited during our stay. The staff were friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

This is an old hotel in need of a serious update. The fact that it has no air conditioning makes me wonder 'what if' it would've been Summer instead of Spring. Not sure why it is promoted as a 4 star hotel when it's clearly not. Otherwise, it was an OK hotel for a single night.

Overall, this hotel is one to which I would return. The room was clean and nice. Only two things I would suggest: 1) have those who smoke step a bit further away from the lobby. The cigarette smoke permeates the lobby and is noticeable in the hallway. 2) We were placed in a handicapped room without being told. I think we should be informed upon check-in that we were in a handicapped room, especially in this one where there was no shower stall per se, and the water went all over the bathroom floor. I didn't care for mopping the floor after showering. Breakfast not included, which would've been nice.

Not perhaps fully 4 star in terms of comfort/facilities, rooms are good sized with all essentials in place, very clean and well serviced each day. Excellent breakfast buffet and good evening meals served until midnight (late opening and set menu for Festival period).

Quibbles - coffee machine in room but only one coffee pod/teabag provided for whole stay. Powerful shower but plastic shower screens. Aircon in room but no cooling (temperature was in high 20s but rooms hot).

Plenty of parking, wifi throughout hotel and convenient for motorways.

A very comfortable and affordable hotel within walking distance of the sights and stores in Kulmbach; very handy to Bayreuth, Kronach and Coburg, all of which we visited. My only small concern was that the air conditioning was not very responsive on a warm night. Opening the window solved this problem. I have stayed here many times and will do so again.

We covered just under a 3000 Mile tour and stayed at many hotels en route. Without doubt the Achat provided excellent reception, a very good ground floor well situated room, superb evening meal, wonderful nights sleep and a first class breakfast. Every member of Staff that we encountered was very pleasant, courteous and most spoke very good English. Our account for the one night stay was by far the best value and we have no hesitation in recomending the Achat. The highlight of our stay at the Achat was my wife sighting a black squirrel in the hotel garden.

Convenient, comfortable and excellent value

I stayed at the AChAT in Kulmbach in 2008 and 2009 while attending the Bayreuth Festival (about 20 minutes drive). The hotel is comfortable, clean and very good value for the price. The staff are fluent in English and very helpful.

The hotel is within an easy walk of the center of Kulmbach and Plassenburg castle, ans a number of other centers are close by for day trips.

Das Zimmer war sauber und zweckmäßig. Ein wenig muffiger Geruch. Das Kopfkissen sollte gereinigt bzw. komplett gewechselt werden. Die Handtuchstangen sind wesentlich zu hoch angebracht. Da muss man eine Wurftechnik entwickeln, ein Handtuch aufzuhängen. Zumindest mit einer Körpergröße von 1,60 cm.
Das Personal ist freundlich und aufmerksam. Das Frühstück ist reichhaltig. Parkplätze stehen direkt vor dem Hotel genügend kostenlos zur Verfügung

Grundsätzlich waren wir mit dem Aufenthalt zufrieden. Die Vielfalt am Frühstücksbuffet könnte jedoch größer sein. Die Esstische wirken ohne Tischdecke und Deko lediglich funktionell. Die Ausweichräume gleichen eher einer Kantine, als einem Frühstücksrestaurant.

Das Hotel selbst liegt ruhig an einem Park. Sehr gute Parkmöglichkeiten, großer Parkplatz zusätzlich hinter dem Haus. Das Hotel ist etwas in die Jahre gekommen und für eine Übernachtungin Ordnung, sofern man nicht zwingend duschen muss. Das Hotelzimmer ist groß, hat einen großen Flachbildschirm und die Möbel sind sehr neu, modern und das Bett ist bequem. Frühstück ist vollkommen in Ordnung und ausreichend. Nun meine negativen Punkte: Was mich sehr störte, ist der Zustand vom Bad. Die Dusche weist schimmlige (schwarz) und verdreckte (braune) Fugen auf. Hier müssten die Fugen entweder einmal richtig geschruppt bzw. gereinigt werden, wenn sogar einmal neu verfugt werden. Ich konnte mich nicht überwinden zu duschen. Ich würde es so keinem Gast anbieten wollen. Der Rest vom Bad ist ausreichend sauber, das Wasser im Waschbecken läuft sehr langsam ab und aus dem Abfluss im Bad muffelt es. Das Bad ist in die Jahre gekommen. Ich muss ehrlich gestehen, dass ich vorerst hier nicht noch einmal übernachten werde.

Das Personal an der Rezeption war sehr freundlich und der Check in hat reibungslos geklappt. Ein Pluspunkt ist der große Parkplatz direkt am Hotel. Das Frühstücksbüffet war für diese Preisklasse sehr gut bestückt. Leider ist das Hotel in die Jahre gekommen und müsste unbedingt an einigen Stellen renoviert werden, angefangen von der fehlenden Klimaanlage bis zum Badezimmer. Unangenehm war auch der Geruch in unserem Zimmer, der selbst bei geöffnetem Fenster nicht verschwand.

Substanz des Hotels ist eigentlich gut. Das Personal am Empfang ist immer sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Es müsste mal wieder was in das Hotel investiert werden.
Frühstückservice war an diesem Tag überfordert. Tische wurden nur schleppend abgeräumt. Kein Besteck kein Rührei usw., wurde zwar alles nachgefüllt, dauerte aber ziemlich lange.

Frühstück ist gut. Alles da und genügend Auswahl.
Hotel an sich ist sauber, man könnte gerne nochmal etwas modernisieren. Bar und Restaurant sind wohl dauerhaft geschlossen aber es gibt in Kulmbach genügend Alternativen.
Zimmer werden erst ab der dritten Übernachtung gereinigt, das finde ich etwas wenig. Jeden zweiten Tag wäre OK!

Traditionelle Gemütlichkeit mit Herz

Herzlicher Empfang der Chefin. Das Zimmer sehr sauber und großzügig. Die Betten sind bequem und wir haben super geschlafen. Wir bekamen ungefragt ein kostenloses Upgrade auf eine Suite. Diese Wertschätzung und Gastfreundlichkeit erlebt man nicht alle Tage. Die Chefin kümmert sich mit Herz um ihre Gäste und man fühlt sich sehr willkommen. Das Frühstück ist ausreichend und frisch. Das vier-Gang Abend Menü sehr lecker und von hoher Qualität. Der Service ist sehr aufmerksam und zuvorkommend. Es fährt ein hauseigener Shuttleservice direkt vor der Tür zur fünf Minuten entfernten Piste. Wir kommen gerne wieder und können diese Unterkunft von Herzen weiterempfehlen.

Beim betreten des Zimmer´s fiel mir schon der modrige Geruch auf, also erstmal die Fenster auf. Beim späteren genauen Hingucken fiel mir der große Schimmelfleck an der Wand auf wo auch schon die kleinen Käfer krabbelten. Der Fleck war überspachtelt und übermalt, also nicht erst seit gestern. Für mich grob fahrlässig einen Gast in ein verschimmeltes Zimmer ein zu quartieren. Ich hab dann ein neues Zimmer bekommen.

Gut gelegen, großer Parkplatz. Schöne große Zimmer.
Ärgerlich nur, dass die Zimmer keine Klimaanlage haben. Wir waren da bei 34 Grad Celsius und dann ohne Klimaanlage ist es schon ziemlich warm im Zimmer. Zumal es auf dem Gang eine zu geben schien, denn wenn man die Zimmertur aufgemacht hatte, strömte einem kühle Luft entgegen.

Tolles Business Hotel !

Ich bin immer mal wieder beruflich in Kulmbach und mir war das Taste Hotel bisher noch nie aufgefallen. Dieses Mal gab es keine anderen freien Hotels, also habe ich es gebucht.
Ich war positiv überrascht!
Sehr freundlicher Service an der Rezeption, sehr große neu renovierte Zimmer (nur die Bäder sind noch etwas alt, aber sauber) und wirklich ausreichend Parkplätze!
Außerdem hat es eine gute zentrale Lage. Ich komme wieder.

Very nice hotel

We booked a room for 3 adults and 1 dog. The check-in was very easy, and staff were easy to talk to.

Our dog had his own bed, which was a very nice touch. The room was huge, with comfy beds and plenty of windows.
Next door is a little park that we walked around in.

Tasty breakfast.

Checking out was also very easy. Only had to wait a few minutes.

Das \"leise\" Zimmer war leider direkt an de Hauptstr., Frühstück war ok aber nichts außergewöhnliches, die MAinnen im Restaurant waren freundlich ber Tische abräumen gehörte nicht zur ihren Kernkomptenzen........

Fremragende ophold

Brugte det som et mellemstations hotel på vej til Kroatien og på hjemrejsen også.
Alt var i orden og vi nød de rene værelser og den gode morgenmad.
Kan kun anbefale Taste Hotel i Kulmbach

Lage des Hotels sehr gut,ebenso die Parkmöglichkeit.Negativ : Außer einem überteuerten Getränkeautomat gibt es nichts. Keine Bar kein Restaurant. Aus angebl. Umweltgründen werden die Zimmer nur auf Wunsch gereinigt, aber beim Frühstücksbüffet gibt es um so mehr Müll( Marmelade,Butter usw. alles in Plastik eingepackt!!!!
