Friendly staff, updated/tasteful furnishings, and decent location. It’s a little far from the Festspielhaus (if you’re there for the Wagner festival), but they run a complementary shuttle to and from the operas, along with a complementary reception (with prosecco and snacks) right beforehand, which was a nice touch.

I really enjoyed my stay at Hotel Residenzschloss Bayreuth. My room was spacious, clean and lovely and quiet. The bed was very comfortable. The staff are very polite and friendly.
The breakfast is excellent with a wide range of food to start the day.
I will certainly stay here again next time I am in Bayreuth. Thank you!

I thought it would be like a Hampton Inn but H4 is much better. Very comfortable. A little street noise but with windows closed, absolutely silent. Got great sleep. Underground parking- fee. A little narrow (as everywhere in Germany) but we had no problems with our somewhat large station wagon. Some spaces have mechanical racks to park 2 cars-- operated by the hotel, not customer! Overflow parking 3 minute walk away. Small supermarket across the street. Other shopping and restaurants in walking distance. Safe area. Interesting cemetery across street. The bar is open late--not sure whether they have food. Most people at Wagner Festspiele eat at the opera. Breakfast is extremely good buffet, and convenient-- 07:00 to 11:00.
Festspielhaus is 2.4 km (35min by foot) but we signed up for shuttle (free), leaves H4 15:00 arrives 15:10. Returns 20 min post performance. Very convenient.
Most hotel guests are German but English is spoken by hotel personnel, who are very friendly and helpful.
Ein ausgezeichneter Aufenthalt! Highly recommended if you are in Bayreuth.

They had nice stay options, i had a room made for 3 men and it fit us perfectly. The convient downstairs wash room, accommodated many persons at once. My only complaint was there was parking designated for Suv's and it was taken by cars everynight, guess should either be given a spot or guess with size requirements be given a spot, my Suv had terrible parking every night of our stay because all the spot big enuff for me where taken, luckily i had small passengers of age to drive and park the suv in the tighter smaller spots or a spot was just made for us by the wonderful accomodating staff.

There is one problem at this hotel in that the underground parking is very tight. There are several \"double decker\" spaces with lifts. These are not big high enough for modern cars. There are a few designated SUV only spaces. At busy times there are no free spaces. This is a pity as the hotel is otherwise perfect.

We’d already stayed here for 2 nights during the Festspiele the week prior, but decided to return for the last opera in the Ring. Couldn’t pass up a last-minute Expedia deal where one night was nearly half the cost of the previous week’s booking. Same great experience, room was slightly smaller, no bathrobe/slippers, no big deal. This is a lovely, well-run and well-staffed property.

Went to Bayreuth for the 2019 Festival. What a pleasant stay at H4 Hotel. It's centrally located - only a 5-minute walk to the town center. The room was clean, modern looking, and very spacious. The staff was all lovely. It also provides a free bus to and from the opera house. I also like that it has a bar that opens until 1 am - perfect for an after-opera drink/gathering with friends.

WiFi was a bit spotty - depends on where you are located.

An excellent hotel

This hotel is off the main drag, but a convenient walking distance to shops and restaurants. It was very quiet. They have a shuttle to and from the opera house. The breakfast is excellent (although we used Starbucks Via to strengthen the coffee!). The room was clean, the bedding and pillows were high-quality and very comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. The only things that could be improved: the room had no overhead lights, and the floor lamp didn't work, so if it was dark outside, it was pretty dark in the room; the exercise room is small (3 machines); the wi-fi was a bit patchy; and if you want a bathtub, you have to get a junior suite. These few things did not spoil our trip, and we would absolutely stay here again.

My only complaint; we had diner after one of the operas. It is nice they keep the kitchen open late on these dates but the food was really only so-so, and considering how good everything else at this hotel was, this was disappointing.

Nice hotel close to city centre.

Check in was quick and efficient. Our room was on the third floor (322) overlooking the main road. The room was clean and tidy with a fridge, mini bar and a safe. Beds comfy but pillows were not. Bathroom also very clean with hairdryer and very good shower. The room did not have air conditioning and the weather was very hot when we stayed, so we had a choice. Either be extremely hot in the room with a low level of noise or have the window open and be unable to hear each other because of constant traffic noise.

Breakfast was excellent, very good choice and good quality of food, we were able to eat in the garden although there were wasps continually flying around.

Staff were helpful, friendly and all spoke English.

The hotel is close to the Main Street in Bayreuth, only a five minute walk away.

I would stay in the hotel on my next return to Bayreuth but would request a garden facing room.

We stayed for two nights for the Bayreuth Festival.

Quick and hassle-free check in. A clean and comfortable modern room. Good buffet breakfast. Slippers were provided on request.

The hot tub was no more but we made use of the sauna.

They even laid on a complimentary bus to the Festspielhaus.

This was our second stay at the H4. Last year, we thought it was a good hotel--very efficient, clean, but characterless. This year, the hotel had been totally renovated and air conditioning had been installed in the bedrooms. Tgevgktel is very busy during the Bayreuth Festival, but they cope very well with all of the guests, and run a very welcome bus service to the Festspielhaus. This year they had a very amusing art project based around images of Wagner, and it have a chain hotel a much more individual touch.

Nice hotel which needs better management

The hotel is nice, the staff is frienly and helpful but they have a terrible problem with mold smell. The lower levels which were not yet renovated do not have AC and since this summer was very rainy, the carpets, pillows and comforters caught a horrible mold smell.
I thoght I would go crazy the fitst night, I was suffocating from that smell. In the morning we spoke to the reception and they explained that they are aware of the smell and moved us to the third floor. Surprise, the rooms and carpet did not smell but the bed lengerie did, mainly because if they spent some time on the lower floors, washing did not get the smell out. We had to live with the smell an entire week! The cleaning crew confirmed that they smell the foul odor but that the management is not doing anything about it. Used to American and international good hotel standards, we did not bring shampoo, conditioner and lotion, none in this hotel, had to beg to get some. One free 200 mg water on arrivel for both guests, go share! Breakfast alledgedly served unti 11 but when arriving at 10, everything was gone and most of the servers. Perfectionism is gone unfortunately! We attended the Wagner festival for which we waited 13 years to get tickets. It was supposed to be a very special occasion but many more incidents in this hotel and above all the intoxicating smell made it very unpleasant.

Amazing hotel in Bayreuth!

Amazing stay at an amazing hotel, everything was better than described (except for the whirlpool being broken for months and not available) the best breakfast of any hotel we have stayed in Germany so far. Very short stroll to many fine restaurants and shopping. Central location to all the sights.

Overall we had a very good experience apart from one breakfast where they had run out of mugs, there was no juice and no tables cleared. When we did get seated the coffee pot was empty. They restocked the mugs after I asked them to, eventually the juices were refilled however the juice glasses ran out so people used the mugs instead!!!

The staff were very friendly and the room attendants did an excellent job each day.

Very friendly staff, clean rooms. The staff speaks English and German at a minimum, and when we checked in they gave us a huge room that even had an additional roll away bed for my German Shepherd. It is very close to downtown, but when the windows are closed you can't hear a thing from outside. The included breakfast was fantastic the next morning. Only downside is parking spots are tiny in the garage, if you have anything larger than a BMW X1 you have to park close to the entrance in the single spots for SUVs.

Think carefully before you choose this hotel, it has no air conditioning. I stayed here during the summer and it was hotter in the room than outside! It was incredibly difficult to sleep in the conditions. When I asked for a fan, I was told they would 'try' to find one.

Lovely airy hotel with outdoor dining

This hotel is very quiet and comfortable. Well-placed for the centre of Bayreuth with an excellent staff. Rooms are very clean and spacious and the restaurant has a very large breakfast buffet and a good but limited a la carte for dinner. The only letdown to the hotel is the lack of air-conditioning in the rooms. When the temperature is 37 celsius it is essential!
