Very quiet hotel, down laneway. 10 minute walk to train station. North of Imperial garden. Japanese breakfast was great way to start the day. The public onsen bath was great way to unwind at end of tourist day. Staff were very courteous and helpful. If ever back to Tokyo, would stay again.

I loved my first visit to a ryokan and the staff really were lovely and so helpful ! They went to a lot of trouble to get me a room so I booked an extra night. The breakfast was delicious and I used the onsen and lounge every night - unfortunately the Jazz lounge was closed due to The national holiday so I will be back ! Not too far from the station and and easy walk and lots of wonderful guitar shops and ski / sport shops in the area. So quiet but close to everything. Thank you !

This is a great experience overall and I would love to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to the excellent staff of the hotel, especially to Tanaka-san. The staff are warm, friendly, and helpful, and I am particularly grateful for their help in arranging our taxi back to the airport on our last day. Staying in the hotel was a great way to wind down as the last leg in our Japan trip and I really cannot be more grateful to the staff and to Tanaka-san's help! This was such a tranquil place to stay. We were greeted well and accommodated just as any person should be treated despite being a foreigner with limited Japanese speaking abilities. They made us feel at home and respected. The facilities in this hotel was beautiful and clean. It remains to be very quiet and relaxing. They offer free breakfast in a Japanese styled presentation. It saved us time to think of places to eat as there are not many options of food that are walkable within 30 mins. There is some fast food and cafes but not really what we are looking for while immersing in the Japanese culture. Now my favorite part is the private outdoor bath. It seema they have some essential oil added like green tea or some sort but my lord it was outstanding. For a quick stay at the akebono room it was awesome !

it is very homey. i love the surroundings, quite and peaceful and staff is very kind. we had the room with the onsen for 3 nights and we love it. it is quite big for regular size onsen. it is wooden and is very clean, they put an aroma scent to make it more relaxing. while sitting at the veranda with your hot green tea, overlooking at the pink cherry blossom tree. my kids and i are all tempted to walk down to the community park to take a picture of the flowers. it was the most beautiful sakura tree that blossoms at this time.
they also
have a massage chair located at the basement. which is very nice after a long day of walking.
everything is just perfect to this place.

Great hotel! 相当棒的一家酒店！

Great hotel! I really enjoyed my stay there. I booked a single Japanese-style room, and it was indeed a bit small but very clean and cozy and has everything I needed. The staff spoke good conversational English and were quite friendly! One staff member even spoke Chinese. The location is also great, only 5-minute walk away from a subway station. The breakfast was delicious. Loved the omelette!

The hotel is very conveniently located, just a short walk away from a subway station, many restaurants, and a convenience store.

The hotel was very nice and very clean and the breakfast was a great way to start my day before exploring Tokyo. The price is very reasonable for how conveniently located it is.

But what really will make me go back to this hotel the next time I go to Japan was their staff. The hotel staff was exceptional. They went above and beyond to be polite, helpful, and accommodating throughout my whole stay. I can't give every member of their staff enough praise for how amazing they were and how much better they made my stay.

Little gem in the ochanomizu, Tokyo

This is our 3rd stay here. Simple and minimalist type of the hotel give us what we need. It is pretty small, but it is Tokyo... our family of 4 normally stay Japanese style room. Love this place!! Staff is super friendly and 5 star service!!

The check in was prompt. I arrived early and they checked my bag while I went sight seeing. Room ready when I returned. Take advantage of the bath house down in basement. There is laundry there too. Very quiet area, close to transportation and with in 30 min walk to Imperial Gardens. Safe at any time of day or night. Good breakfast too

I don't usually review hotels on here, but this place is exceptional. Great Japanese-style experience, attentive staff who speak enough English to get by, and great facilities. Onsen (traditional spa/bath) is lovely, Japanese-style breakfast was great, room was traditional and very adequate for my needs. Highly recommended as a foreigner who speaks no Japanese and wanted somewhat of a traditional Japanese experience. ~10 min. walk to the Metro.

Staff were very friendly. Other than some marks on the walls (probably from guest luggage hitting the walls), the room was clean and in good condition. The room had good amenities including a laptop, printer, fridge, hair dryer, toiletries. The hotel has an indoor spring, but we didn't see it or use it. Breakfast was included (Rice, miso, egg) and was delicious. Overall a nice experience, would stay again.

I enjoyed my 6 day stay very much. Although my room was small, it was very comfortable was always kept clean. The bathroom was well equipped with everything in perfect working condition and great water pressure in the sink and shower. The staff was always available to help and recommend places to visit and eat. The breakfast was always excellent with a combination of western and Japanese food. The location is in a quite part of the city, but within walking distance to lots of restaurants, coffee shops and a few different metro stations. This a great value for the price.

We loved this place. The staff made us feel like we were staying in their home. We were always greeted with a smile and a bow. We stayed in a room for 4 & our children are 15 & 17 so it was very tight. We were truly only there to sleep so it was perfect. The breakfast in the morning was an added benefit because there aren't many breakfast options in the nearby area and not because of the location. I'm told most Japanese people have breakfast at home so there isn't a demand for breakfast restaurants like we Americans are accustomed to. We experienced this lack in Osaka in a high end hotel chain and in Kyoto as well.

What a great hotel. Awesome location, super friendly staff!!! The floor mats were a little too thin for me, but no one else in our family minded it. They folded easily to make more space in our room. It was within walking distance to some major attractions and a nice neighborhood.

Within walking distance of ochanomizo station (though no escalator/elevator in station for luggage while renovating station in 2017). Easy walk to imperial gardens. Most of the staff spoke surprisingly good English and were very courteous and helpful towards me every day. I felt well cared for. They asked if I wanted to room changed every day, which is something most Western hotels don't even mention.

Breakfast was included with my room and was a new experience for me - rice, egg, soup and a selection of vegetables each day. The Japanese do not eat breakfast normally, so this was a nice bonus for me as a Westerner to start my day.

I stayed in a Western-style room (they also offer Japanese-style with the furniture close to the floor) which was small, which is expected in Tokyo, but was comfortable for one person. The facilities provided were good and even included some free pajamas to wear if and when you choose the public bath which is located in the basement of the hotel. I did not use this so I cannot comment on it.

Overall the experience was very pleasant and I was felt to feel very welcome.

Great location for experiencing and exploring.

Hotel was great. We had a traditional room with the mats on the ground. Mats were really comfortable. Probably 200 restaurants within walking distance. 1 mile to Imperial Palace, museums, shopping, transportation and Parks.
Staff was super friendly and we will stay here again on our next trip.

The Jimbocho area is great for book lovers which was minutes away. Fax and printing machine in room. Room a little small but we were essentially there for sleeping. Breakfast a little light.

A little gem

A really nice little hotel. First time it is a little hard to find, because it is not like the bigger hyped hotels, which are usually on a main road, or in a busy area. But, that's why it is much more quite, than those ones. Transportation is really good, 3 metro stations are in a 5min walking distance (what I mainly used is the Shin-Ochanomizu /Chiyoda line/ and the Ogawamachi /Shinjuku line/), so not to hard reach with them the main attractions.
Staff very friendly, breakfast was good (japanese style breakfast). The room was nice (japanese style A non-smoking), a little bit small, but still comfortable.

My home away home in Tokyo

Shoryukan is such a gem in the middle of Tokyo's well regarded academic and business district. But it is tucked away in a quiet neighborhood to promise you a good sleep. Throughout my three-day stay, the staff took great care of my needs with impeccable attention that is impossible in large chain hotels. I liked their idea of serving small (but delicate and delicious) portion of breakfast as it ensures minimum wastes (of course you can ask for another bowl of rice and miso soup etc. if needed more). The public bath and rest area in the basement are also pretty comfortable. The only downside is its smallness of single room -- I took a peek of twin rooms when cleanings are going on, and they appear to be sufficiently large, though. In any case, the hotel was so cozy that I wanted to extend my stay, but unfortunately all the single rooms were already booked. Now Shoryukan is definitely one of my top list in Tokyo hotels.

What a great find: lovely hotel with 'traditional' communal bath, Japanese breakfast included but rooms have modern facilities, separate toilet & shower. Large flatscreen tv. Wifi in room (yay!) Communal Japanese bath downstairs (male/female separated). Staff speak reasonable English and are incredibly helpful - lent us umbrellas on a rainy day, printed out maps for local area. Hotel is easy walking distance from Ochanomizu Station, which is 2 stops on Chuo Rapid (Orange) Line from Tokyo in one direction and Shinjujku the other way. Easy walking distance to Akihabara and to Imperial Palace Gardens. Baggage storage available. Highly recommended.

Lovely hotel. Staff made it a true pleasure to stay here. - they were wonderfully helpful about holding onto our luggage when we checked in early. Breakfast was excellent. Good WiFi as well. It was more of a business hotel than a couples' hotel, but we were very comfortable and found the business amenities helpful in planning the rest of our trip.

Laundry facilities were available, as well as other useful travel services. Would absolutely stay here again.

Not difficult to reach the metro station, it's just around the corner and very handy to the city.

this is a small hotel in a chill part of town with a terrific, attentive staff. they serve a delicious japanese breakfast and were quick to offer options when the featured meal was something I couldn't eat. the rooms are small but not by Tokyo standards, and very well laid out, and well insulated from cross noise from other rooms. A really well-designed place. The common rooms have a jazz theme and there was always some interesting chill music playing at breakfast.
The staff was just the best - when I thought I'd lost my credit card, I went up and searched my room - by the time I'd come back downstairs they'd already called the hotel in Nikko that I'd just stayed at to be sure I'd not left it there. Checked if I needed my room made up each day, or just an extra towel; booked my taxi to Tokyo Station with timing advice to be sure I made my bus: and also kept my bag for me while I was in Nikko for three days so that I could travel light with just a backpack.
I highly recommend this hotel and would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Best hotel ever

Absolutely loved my stay at Ochanomizu Hotel Shoryukan. The service is impeccable - the staff give personal attention to each customer like a well-run family inn and yet it has the amenities and reliability of large chain hotel. The sento (public bath) and massage chairs (all free!) are also a welcomed respite after a long day of sightseeing.

The location in terms of proximity to key subway/JR lines are great. All the key places like Shinjuku or Tokyo are just about 20 minutes away. However, the hotel itself can be a bit hard to find for first timers. I highly recommend you Google Streetview the place before you arrive.

The rooms are quite small but it's very well furnished. The Japanese-styled beds are surprisingly comfortable too.

If you like jazz, there is an awesome jazz bar in the hotel itself with the nicest owner ever. He let me pick out my favorite records and played it for me.

I highly, highly recommend this place!

great hotel with friendly staff

The hotel rooms can be considered small by some, but for me it was perfectly fine, besides your on vacation you shouldnt be spending all your time cooped up in a hotel room watching TV! The staff I had the most interaction with was their english speaking gentleman. He was very polite and really helpful with all of my questions. The Onsen or public bath is small but most of the time I was completely alone in there. My only gripe was with one of the other staff members (not the friendly one i talked about earlier) two of my friends came over my hotel room around 6pm to change into our night clothes (we were going out to dinner) and he basically started scolding me about having guest over in my room. anyways, overall I liked the hotel and would recommend it. P.S order a massage if you got the money its well worth it!

A Micro-Hotel Gem near Ochanomizu Station

This hotel mainly caters to Japanese in the midst of travel, it seems, but if you have the will to eat a simple Japanese breakfast and give up on the concept of a room having to be big to be comfortable, it's an amazing value. Yes the room was microscopic, but the futon was comfortable, the bath/toilet room had everything it needed, and the internet was free and abundant. The best part was the dedicated staff and community bath in the basement that had ample room for washing and soaking in some lovely hot water.

My girlfriend and I spent two nights in this hotels and our experience was fantastic. From the extra clean, beautiful Japanese style room to the onsen and relax-room, everything was fantastic. As negative, I would only mention the space of the room; it’s not too big but nothing unmanageable.

お世話になりました。
お風呂もゆっくりと入れてスタッフの方も親切で心地よかったです。
ただちょっとわかりずらく、途中で電柱に案内を見つけられてホッとしました。
帰りにわかりやすい地図を頂いたので次回もまた使用させて頂きたいと思っております。

とても家庭的で暖かく気に入りました。ただ畳の部屋に慣れていなかったので、次回は違うタイプのお部屋がもしあれば試してみたいです。

のんびりお風呂でくつろげました。

旅の宿泊ではやはりベッドが良いです。部屋にスペースが狭いのでお布団だと窮屈感があり、歩いたり、立っている時間が多いのでお布団での起き上がりがつらいところが有ります。布団の部屋ならもう少し広いと違うかと思います。ホテルは一般的にトイレとお風呂が一体なので、広めのお風呂でゆっくりくつろげるのはたいへん有りがたいものでした。朝食付きも有りがたい事でしたがお野菜がもっとほしかったです。ハンガーも3本あると助かりました。2本の所が多く意外と不便なんですよ。

Tolles Hotel im japanischen Stil mit guter Verkehrsanbindung. Mein Zimmer war zwar recht klein, aber sauber und gemütlich. Das japanische Frühstück hat mir besonders gut gefallen.

ほぼ満足。コスパOK！

部屋は決して広くはないものの、清潔な感じであった。チェックイン時には畳に、きれいなシーツをかけた布団が敷いてあった。無線ランのほか、有線のLAN差し込み口もあった。風呂とトイレはユニットになっており、シャンプー、石鹸、髭剃り、ヘアブラシ等が用意されていた。
朝７時からの朝食付きであったが、７時前にチェックアウトし利用できなかったのが、唯一の残念な点である。

とてもよかったです！

口コミのとおり、従業員の方もとても親切で優しく、駅からも近くて大変便利でした(^-^)

朝食もおいしくおかわりもしちゃいました（笑）
これも口コミにありましたが、4人部屋だととても狭く座るところが2人分しかない為、布団の上に座らなければならなかったのが残念でした。
でも、また利用したいホテルでした。
ありがとうございました♪
