Pros: Location is excellent and beautiful, walking distance from the beach and restaurants. Room was very spacious, super clean, equipped kitchen, bery impressed, staff was friendly and helpful.
Cons: breakfast is very light continental and was okay but no meats such as eggs or sausages, carbs only but maybe because of kitchen in room. The front desk only has 1 computer so it was slow check in and staff walks away or missing or busy. During check out nobody was there and said back in 20 minutes but we had to leave.

Gave a good homey vibe and the morning/afternoon staff was super friendly and helpful with all our questions. Night staff was a little sketchy and missing a lot of the time and tried to tell us kids couldn’t be in the pool after 8:30. But overall it was a nice visit and clean place to stay.

The staff was kind, caring and understanding when we told them there was mold above the bath tub, paint peeling on walls of the bathroom and 2 screen were torn. Baseboards were also dirty in main room along with glassware on the kitchen. I felt dirty sleeping in the bed after we saw black specks in the sheets.

The rooms and location are pretty great. The hospitality is terrible, we were made to wait for 2 hours post check-in time, as our rooms weren’t ready. The parking spots are limited, you’d be lucky to get one. The breakfast was very limited, I wish they had at least one source of protein and fresh fruits.

The line to check in was very long, and rooms weren’t ready even though it was after 3:00 because apparently a housekeeper went home sick. The hotel was very understaffed. It seemed that there were only two people on site, and the desk clerk had to leave the desk to take people to their rooms. After 5:00, it seemed that there was only one person on site who was trying to work the desk and take needed items to rooms causing long waits at the desk. We never got the extra towel we requested. The desk clerk was very nice and trying to be helpful but was just overwhelmed. Off street parking is very limited and on-street parking is limited to 90 minutes during business hours. This property could be a true gem but needs some serious love and better staffing.

There is something quaint and magical about the Villa Rosa Inn with an ineffable quality. If you love Rome, Italy, and if you love fountains, have an appreciation of Koi fish, with a passion for spotlessly clean swimming pool that looks like it was updated and rebuilt, and a hot tub spa that really works well, then you will love the Villa Rosa Inn. There is no such thing as perfection, and Villa Rosa is not perfect (the mattress was not comfortable in my room and neither were the pillows but the room was spotlessly CLEAN!!!); the whole complex lives and breathes character from another time and place. The fountains throughout are not to be believed. The lovely Spanish tiled \"Casa\" within and throughout is filled with history, art, and you can tell that every crevice, fountain, statue, painting, and potted plant has a story. I would insist on a room with a better mattress, but if I were to ask myself: Would I return Villa Rosa Inn to stay again? INDEED, I would!!! It was so peaceful and quiet, and it's just a block from the ocean, with some rooms facing the ocean.

Parking is a challenge, which was unexpected, but it did NOT cost extra. It's not easy to get a parking spot.

Yet, because of how quaint, quirky, and unique in quality Villa Rosa was, when I return to Santa Barbara, I will indeed make my way back to this Inn with pleasure.

The Villa Rosa Inn is a very European feeling inn. Would feel like it belongs on the French or Italian Riviera! A perfect Vibe for Santa barbara! You can say Charming warm- French country even shabby chic for descriptive terms I will definitely return it makes it truly a memorable stay in Santa Barbara my only criticism and this is my third stay is the front desk seems somewhat unorganized and they're often missing. Another caveat is this hotel as an additional fee on top of the hotels.com reservation price but the very clear and open about it. Yes I will come back and stay again! Soon!

We stayed in a room for 4–6 people and overall it was a great option for a group. The room was spacious, had a partial ocean view, a full kitchen, easy check-in, and the location was very convenient and close to everything.

One downside was the hidden fees. The price shown is not the final price, and although the total was still affordable, you don’t know the final amount until after checkout when they bill you, which we didn’t love.

As you can see in the pictures, this is not a 5-star hotel. The furniture and fixtures aren’t new, but they were nice enough, well organized, clean, and comfortable for a group stay.

We didn’t use the other amenities or go to breakfast, but the breakfast area (like the waffle makers) looked old and didn’t seem very hygienic. The interior of the hotel feels a bit like an antique store, so keep in mind it’s not going to feel modern or spotless.

The Villa Rosa Inn canceled my reservation because they said the price I got it at was too low (as if that were my fault) and that they were trying to update their Expedia account to increase the price for one night. Can you imagine the mess if all hotels acted this way whenever we booked a room at a good discount that the hotel itself advertised? Just insane.

The hotel was located in a great place but that’s the best part of this review.
Unfortunately, when we arrived at 3pm (as directed) the hotel was under staff with only one person and a line ten groups deep. Rooms were not ready and not enough staff to service the line of guests. The reception area was cluttered with so much random stuff that there wasn’t much seating or standing area. There was an aquarium with dead fish and a lot eclectic furniture. The interior is dark and dingy with reflections of the haunted mansion. The staffing did their best to check everyone in, be we didn’t get our room till 6:30pm. The room was clean but not really comfortable. There so much that needs be updated just to bring the hotel into the 2000s. I couldn’t recommend this unless you are in a pinch. It was definitely a disappointment.

I was extremely disappointed with my stay at this Inn. The rooms felt very neglected and poorly maintained, and the property overall looks old and worn. The bathroom had visible mold on the walls, which is unacceptable and concerning from a health standpoint.

Noise was a constant issue. There was very loud noise coming from neighboring rooms and from above, especially whenever someone used the shower. The pipes made an extremely loud noise for the entire duration of the water running, making it difficult to rest or sleep.

Front desk service was also lacking. After 6 PM, there was no staff available—only a note instructing guests to call a number. I tried calling and left messages, but no one ever answered or returned the calls.

Although the Inn advertises free breakfast, the quality was very poor. The food selection was bad, and on one occasion there was so much smoke coming from the waffle station that it felt like a fire was about to start, which was alarming.
I stayed for three nights, and during that time there was no room service at all. Trash was never collected, and the room was not attended to in any way.

Overall, this stay did not come close to justifying the amount of money charged. The lack of maintenance, service, cleanliness, and responsiveness made this a very disappointing experience. I would not recommend this Inn based on my stay.

We weren’t able to check in until 6:30. The room wasn’t available and the poor staff was unsupported. There was only one person available to check everyone in at 3pm when we were told to come. There was a line 10 people deep.
The hotel has the most eclectic and weirdest interiors. There isn’t enough parking for guests, and rental bikes as listed in on site. Have low expectations and it’s a place to lay your head, then you’re fine. The location is great but I can’t say much more.

Shower area is 2 ft away from the bed and is part of the room with no separate bathroom. Hotel has only about 10 parking slots for 40+ rooms. Breakfast option is very less and unhealthy. Waffle machine is so dirty that you will not feel good to make a waffle. In short, do not book & stay at this hotel

We stayed at the multi-bed cottage with a full kitchen for 2 nights, one night being Thanksgiving night. We packed dinner thinking restaurants might be closed and meant to take advantage of the kitchen. Upon arrival, the floor looked like it was not swept so we were already having low expectations for the rest of the room. It was clean for the most part but the toilet seat needed to be replaced (stains and loose bolt) and one of the couches smelled like a wet towel if you sat in it. In their defense, this was a pet friendly hotel so we didn’t expect it to be luxurious.

One other complaint was the lack of things in the kitchen. There were no cups, just 2 mugs that were different. I think 1 small pot and a bunch of lids to missing pots/pans. The couple dish-ware they provided did not match, and the dish drying rack was gross. Luckily we had packed some disposable plates and utensils to avoid doing dishes. The staff was very friendly though and provided everything we asked for. We were concerned about how cold the room was and they provided a portable heater for the bathroom since the heating units were on the opposite side of the room.

The lobby and room for breakfast could use a deep cleaning too but the furniture/decor added to the hotel’s charm. Also note, I peaked into another window of a vacant room in the main building, and that room looked a lot nicer. Maybe just the cottages are not better kept.

Where to begin... First, shown to a room that wasn't ready and told we would get texted when it was. An hour and a half later, still no text and a family entering the room we'd been shown. When we returned to the front desk, found out they had taken us to the WRONG ROOM and our room was not only a completely different building, but a different property -- The Ala Mar Motel instead of the Villa Rosa Inn. Room had a large TV but no remote to operate it. Housekeeping left cleaning supplies in the room (dustpan, broom, spray bottle). The top bathroom door hinge is separating from the frame so you have to LIFT the door to shut it. And bathroom fixture only had a single bulb (of three) working. Exposed wiring in the ceiling from, presumably, an old light fixture that had been removed. Front desk accommodated a noon checkout (instead of 11), but housekeeping knocked at 10:30am and asked \"Are you leaving?\"

La chambre 5 était spacieuse et relativement propre, la literie de bonne qualité mais le service laissait à désirer surtout pour le petit dejeuner inclus. Pas de tapis de bain, pas de gel douche ni shampoing mis à disposition. Il a fallu demander à l'accueil pour avoir des serviettes pour la piscine (eau froide) /jacuzzi (eau chaude mais carrelage abimé et jets très légers). Au petit déjeuner à 8h30 il n'y avait plus de lait,plus de jus, plus de pain...aucun beurre ni confiture. Il a fallu attendre un moment avant que quelqu'un s'en aperçoive et mette un bon quart d'heure pour remettre un tout petit peu de quoi manger/boire. Espace repas très mal pensé niveau circulation, beaucoup de monde dans un espace restreint. Pas de parking extérieur de l'hotel disponible mais heureusement en semaine,aucun soucis pour se garer dans la rue juste à coté. Rapport qualité- prix sans doute ok pour Santa Barbara, juste en face de l'ocean, mais à refaire, j'irais ailleurs

The Villa Rosa is an absolute GEM of a property. The location couldn’t be better (right on the beach), the decor and appurtenances are unique and beautiful, breakfast, wine happy hour, clean and comfortable rooms, pool, jacuzzi, and walking distance from everything “Santa Barbara”. This is a property you will travel to again and again.

Staff are all outstanding, and Melody at the front desk is super helpful, knowledgeable and professional.

This is a property with so much charm, you may never leave! We’ll be back again!
