R West Group VIA INN Prime Kyotoeki Hachijoguchi is a solid choice mainly because of its unbeatable location. While the rooms do feel a bit outdated, the convenience more than makes up for it. The hotel is just a short walk from Kyoto Station and very close to malls and shopping centers, making it easy to get around and find food or things to do. Having a 7-Eleven right in the building is a huge plus and incredibly convenient, especially after a long day of sightseeing. The pajamas provided are also nice and comfortable, which was a pleasant bonus. Overall, if location and convenience matter more to you than modern room design, this hotel is definitely worth considering.

Small clean room. We did an overnight trip from Tokyo and they provided loungewear, so anyone planning to do the same, don’t worry about packing sleepwear. A lot of other hotels nearby. It was a self- checkin process, I checked in while my friend was at the museum, so u can check in a guest at a later time. 7/11 built in the side of the hotel, near a mall with a Donki less than 5 mins away. Right behind the Kyoto Train station. Some shops and such nearby for breakfast (we ate breakfast at a nearby hotel via Google Maps rec.) and grocery. Felt safe the entire time, and was affordable b/w 2 ppl

This was BY FAR the best spot we stayed at during our three week trip. Not very costly, very convenient, very clean and the amenities provided are phenomenal. Overall this was a pretty decent stay, location is fantastic and right beside a 7-11 and Kyoto station. Service could be much warmer and friendlier. Breakfast was a miss for my family, had to pay extra for kids even though we paid for breakfast in booking, kids didn’t eat enough to justify, should have just stuck with the 7-11 and saved the cost. Gave me a bit of unnecessary stress when requesting to forward luggage to another hotel. Did my best to communicate that I had already made arrangements with that hotel - but because their phone line was down they didn’t want to send it. Took a good 15 minutes to sort out and indicate that I was taking responsibility for the transfer if anything went wrong. Thankfully it arrived at the hotel no issues. Rooms are a decent size for hotel type of hotels, took a bit of rejigging of luggage. Clean, bed remade everyday which we appreciated. Overall a solid stay if you don’t care much for warm and fuzzy.

I stayed here for 2 separate nights and they were both excellent. The staff were friendly and helpful. I love that you need a keycard to access the elevator, and that you can leave your luggage at the hotel before check-in and after check-out. Hotel was well located around the area of Kyoto Station, only 5 to 10 minutes walk. A convenience store located right below at the hotel makes it very easy to purchase some groceries or to satisfy midnight cravings for food, at any time. There are sufficient coin laundromats in the hotel so that guests do not need to queue to use it. The TV in the room even allows guests to access apps like YouTube and Netflix, which we totally enjoyed it. Overall we enjoyed our stay at Via Inn at Kyoto, would consider booking Via Inn Hotels at other parts of Japan again in our future trips to Japan.

Upon check-in, we immediately noticed that our room had a very strong, unpleasant body odor—almost as if it hadn’t been cleaned or aired out for days. I went back to the front desk to request a room change, but the second room we were offered had a similar smell. I then asked if they had any room spray or candles, and instead they offered to show us two more rooms. Unfortunately, the third room smelled even worse than the first two, and the fourth room still had a strange odor.

It seems the hotel doesn’t properly air out its rooms, and perhaps the building is older, which contributes to the smells. The fourth room was “good enough” for us to stay in, but I still had to buy room spray, and any time we turned the AC off and came back, the room would smell bad again. Keeping the AC on constantly was the only thing that helped.

The room itself was also not very impressive—quite small, and the bathroom layout wasn’t ideal. I prefer how Japanese hotels usually separate the toilet and shower, but here they were together, which wasn’t great.

The humidifier in our room also needed a filter change, which I requested on the first day. No one came on the first or second day, and it was only on the third day that someone finally replaced it. Even housekeeping didn’t address it. Speaking of housekeeping, they didn’t take out any of our garbage for the first few days, which was frustrating. We eventually learned that you need to put your garbage outside the room for them to collect it—a

There seem to be confusions on luggage transferring timeline. One of the staff used a translater and says we can drop off the luggage 24h before the flight. When we did, we were told by a different staff that we should've dropped off 3 days before.

Stayed at 3 different hotels during my trip and this one was my favorite. Nice location with just a 2-mins walk from Kyoto station. 711 is connected to the lobby. Spacious and clean room. Comfortable PJs. Nice shower with very hot water and good water pressure. Fast wifi and tons of info on the TV and the website.

The only area that could be improved is the laundry room. There was no trash can, and I found some leftover trash in the washer from the previous user. The dryer also wasn’t very effective as our clothes were still wet afterward, so we had to hang them to dry in our room after. There was one light in our room that couldn't be turned off so we had to sleep with that light on every night.

Me and my husband stayed here for 2 nights and it was great! It was less than a minute or 2 from Kyoto station which was super convenient. The room was spacious and clean. Staff was very helpful and let us leave our luggage even though check in wasn’t till 3pm. Highly recommend!!

We didn’t have much trouble with other hotels in Japan, but this one was a bit cramped. The A/C wasn’t able to be controlled in our room, so it was a bit warm throughout our stay. The room at first glance was clean, but after looking more closely, especially under the bed, it was very dusty and dirty. It didn’t look like it had been vacuumed in a while.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. It’s conveniently located just a short walk from Shin Kyoto train station, which is lined with shops and restaurants. The breakfast was bustling with large groups, but the staff handled it with grace and efficiency. The room was spotless, modern, and spacious, which is quite impressive for Japan’s standards. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area.
